Countries with favorable relations, economic pacts, and mutual defense agreements aren’t automatically “puppet states,” no matter what liberal anti-communist liberals whine. The soviet union had no colonies nor neocolonies, all allegations as such are pure projection from the west.
Sure, that doesn’t apply to the soviet union. The socialist bloc was highly interconnected by nature, that doesn’t make the USSR colonial or imperialist.
