Technology@kbin.social•Pornhub Tells Users to Take Action Before Politicians Take Their Porn Away
4·3 years ago@Syo I’m not american, but I’ve never understood why people see porn as something bad, then they proceed to see violence as something acceptable.
Take Hollywood movies as an example:
You can’t have any nipples on a 5 seconds scene, but you can have all the gore and violence that you want in the entire movie.

Gaming•Microsoft considered acquiring Bungie and Sega to bolster Xbox Game Pass, internal emails show
4·3 years ago@WonkoTheSane @UrLogicFails Sadly regulators won’t do anything.
Microsoft like Google, Apple, Facebook and many more American companies have been buying American politicians left and right.Sorry my fault. Isn’t “buying” is called “lobbying”. What a way to decorate reality!!!

10·3 years ago@UrLogicFails As a PC gamer that wants Linux and Wine/Proton to take off to be mainstream.
I can’t stand how Microsoft is convincing everyone that Sony is “evil”. That they need to buy more companies, until they’re monopolizing (thanks european union).
Sure! Sony is crap, but at least they’re delivering games not like those pieces of shit that Microsoft calls “games”.
If I have to choose between keep alive 2 brands and kill 1 brand. I’d, of course, take PlayStation and Nintendo. Xbox is useless.
@interolivary There’s a middle point that I share with you.
They shouldn’t had used a device make for consumers. They should engineered a controller that could stand harsh uses like military or scientific purposes. Also, pardon my language, who in the fuck thinks that’s a good idea to use a controller that uses an old technology like WiFi 2.4GHz and only batteries, no USB cable.
A device for those purposes should be wired and with Half Dome sticks (which prevents drift).🧵 2 / 2
@interolivary Again their products are reliable. I’m still using some Logitech X-540 on my desktop PC and they still sound incredible.
Now when you move to devices that require software like mice and keyboards, there’s not gaming brand that does that good or even “acceptable”.
Even the Xbox controller had an issue in Steam were it used to fulfill your hard drive with screenshots. Microsoft had to release a driver update.
Again gaming devices have lots of software issues.🧵 1 / 2
@interolivary Logitech build quality was never a problem. The problem with Logitech, and most of the gaming brands, is their software which is utterly shit.
That Logitech F710 has never received a firmware update or even a driver update.
I’ve had some Logitech mice and keyboards is always the same story. They trend to work better without their software than with the “Logitech G suite” installed.Same applies to Corsair, NZXT, Razer, Asus (Armory Crate) and many more.
@Banana Sounds like that someone here can be a good lawmaker or politician.
Banana is going places!!! 🍌

Gaming•Does anyone else sometimes feel overwhelmed by (big) games?
1·3 years ago@Cartendole For me is kinda hard to follow long time span games.
I can only remember the first 10 hours. So to me is easier just to find short time games than long ones. Also indie games trend to innovate even more so I prefer a 3 hours game that’s enjoyable than a 40 hours game that’s repetitive and probably at the end I don’t even remember the entire story of it.

Reddit Migration@kbin.social•[rant] Why is this so hard for people?
4·3 years ago@McBinary As ironic this can get. There’s actually a post on Reddit that can explain how most users are. This not only applies to old folks.
Link at the bottom.I’ve seen many people get lost at simple things like setting up a Roku or even making a document in Google Docs, when they were so used to use Microsoft Word.
People hate a hard setting up process in everything, even if they have to do it just once.

Reddit Migration@kbin.social•[rant] Why is this so hard for people?
5·3 years ago@McBinary What you’re describing is one of the issues with the entire fediverse and it is the on boarding process.
A centralized social network just makes you go to Facebook (dot) com, then put your mail and password. Done!
But the fediverse isn’t easier. People not only need to learn their username and password, also need to learn their server’s name. Why? Because isn’t the same to try to log in in lemmy.xyz than log in on lemmy.zyx
That makes non technical users get lost.

Reddit Migration@kbin.social•I've felt more compelled to contribute to the "Fediverse" than I ever did on Reddit.
4·3 years ago@Deralax I feel that’s more related with platform addiction. Since COVID 19 Reddit became more a news stand.
Look at r/popular 11 of each 10 posts are news related and not like a generic piece of news. Feels that they’re perfectly selected to create toxic comments which at the same time droves people to look for more toxic news.Reddit is a platform designed about being toxic and addictive while Lemmy/Kbin are designed as a way to connect with people that shares your same interests.

Programming•I am working on a new lemmy app for iOS and Android, here's my current progress
1·3 years ago@brunofin Looks like there’s an issue. Someone made an app called Lemur before you on F-droid.

@Atemu This is why, for me, Firefox is unreplaceable on Android. Just the fact that’s not Chromium + also supports extensions is what makes it superior.
I wish that it’ll come pre-installed in phones instead of Chrome, so more people can give it a try. But is Android and Google would never allow that.
