Canada@lemmy.ca•Apparently Canadians are notorius cheaters in the sport of Curling
67·2 months agoNot really a good look for us. Would rather our athletes not cheat on an international stage representing our country. Play by the rules or not at all. Thank you very much.

Linux@programming.dev•Those who've switched to Linux in the last year, how is it going?
1·2 months agoI’d suggest coming and joining the Sim Racing On Linux discord: https://discord.gg/xTvw6RYjA
There’s is definitely a process to getting AC modded correctly.

3·3 months agoBought a new gaming PC with an AMD GPU and went straight for Bazzite almost a year ago. It was pretty damn painless and straightforward. Especially the only thing I use it for are singleplayer or indie multiplayer games. Almost everything worked out if the box.
A lot of sim racing stuff worked surprisingly well.
It was a pain to learn how to install Assetto Corsa with its mods, needs a specific version of proton with specific windows libraries installed, but once I figured that all out it runs great.
It was also a pain when I bought a Chinese handbrake for sim racing, but thanks to the Sim Racing On Linux discord, a member wrote a custom driver for it for me and another member that bought it. Unfortunately, I can’t exactly install custom kernel drivers on Bazzite, so I ended up switching to CachyOS and have been enjoying that so far. It was a bit of a pain to switch as it requires more tinkering, but I got to a place where it was running nicely fairly quickly.

F-Droid@lemmy.ml•Key handover in the dark: Syncthing fork community raises alarm
2·4 months agoYeah I really don’t like this. Seems lik a terrible way to do this.
I’ve disabled updates on it.
I already no longer use it to sync my music (moved to Navidrome with Symfonium). Do I move away for my personal photos & documents?

2·5 months agoI think one has this one recently. I had to watch from the web player to get it to work correctly.
So printer drivers are not particularly part of the desktop environment.
However, if it helps, my decade old printer HP P1606dn worked out of the box. Literally, a better experience than installing it’s drivers on Windows these days.
I’ve been enjoying it. What do you mean by complete? What’s the stream deck desktop environment missing?
They both use KDE so they’re both similar
I installed Bazzite myself. Probably the most similar to your email experience in desktop mode in SteamOS.

Montréal@lemmy.ca•Résultats Élections municipales de 2025 à Montréal
2·6 months agoI did my part and went to vote.
Unfortunate who I voted for did not get elected.
I don’t know how this upcoming administration will benefit Montreal for housing costs or even grocery costs.
My dad was a software developer so growing up, there were Linux textbooks in the bookcases. Sorry if was inspired by my dad to try Linux in and off in my teens. Was fun a kid failing and then succeeding to install Linux and distrohop through the various flavors of Ubuntu and what not.
Then in university my cheap laptop was running poorly on Windows 10 say I started experimenting again with Arch, Mankato since I didn’t really need any fancy proprietary software.
Finally, now in 2025, just pissed off with Windows and decided I’d go all in with Linux on my desktop gaming PC. It worked well enough or my laptop and my home server, and really considered that it was not games that required anti cheat that I really loved, so I just dove in with Bazzite.

One instance should be a penalty.
However, apparently this athlete is known to have done it repeatedly and got caught because the Swedish team prepared their own camera angle. Only one instance may have been caught, but it was caught because he already had a reputation for it.
