The torch is an artifact in Heretic and Hexen. Using it will illuminate all areas (even underwater areas) to full brightness for 120 seconds. This effect is much like Doom's light amplification visor, except that its light flickers slightly. In Heretic + Hexen re-release when playing Heretic using the "Enhanced Items" modifier, the duration of torch effect is decreased to 45 seconds.
This item is included in the items percentage displayed at the end of each level in Heretic.
