For those needing local context, “The Black Country” is an area to the north of Birmingham in the West Midlands area of England made up of the boroughs of Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell and Dudley. It got its name from being an area of intense thick air and ground pollution during the industrial revolution due to its numerous coal mines, iron foundries, and factories.
