Back from Northern California, with a new painting!
I promised you a painting from California, and here it is!
Carmel beach 1, my first painting of a seascape!
This is the beach at Carmel, where I painted last week with friends. The ocean was a new subject for me, and I would love to have more time to study its color and movement. Also, all the beach vegetation and trees were a stretch for me to render.

A refreshing landscape and upcoming trip
"Waterfall" ~ 9" x 12" ~ Price $300
I’m going to Carmel, California for a painting trip with friends September 3 – 10. I’ll bring back very different landscapes from the one posted here. It may look cool and refreshing, but it was painted near Austin in the 100 degree heat. I did jump in the stream after painting it to cool off!
What Texas Means to Me
"Painted Field," a landscape I painted near Fredericksburg on a field of wildflowers in full bloom.
Here’s a painting I’ll have in the show “What Texas Means to Me,” opening July 2 through August 28 at Austin Art Space, behind Northcross Mall. (See their website austinartspace.com for directions). The Artists’ Reception will be Saturday, July 10, from 6 – 9 p.m. I hope you can come, and we’ll visit and enjoy a great show! The painting is titled “Painted Field”, and is of Indian Paintbrush near Fredericksburg: a very Texas scene.
New Show at Fine Austin Living
If you are in the Bee Caves Road area in Westlake Hills drop into Fine Austin Living, at 4238 Bee Caves Rd. (across the street from The Schoolyard Shopping Center) and take a look at ten of my landscapes on display till July 15. They look great in this lovely showroom!

Time for Texas bluebonnets!
"Distant Horses" is one of my recent landscapes celebrating the bounty of Texas wildflowers
The bluebonnets in this painting are in the Hill Country on the way to Fredericksburg. This and ten other of my landscapes will be on display in the real estate company, Fine Austin Living, at 4238 Bee Caves Rd. (across from the Schoolyard).
The grand opening celebration will be on April 29. You can drop in and see the art during business hours. I’m doing more landscapes lately, and have joined Plein Air Austin for regular painting sessions outdoors this gorgeous spring!
