Microsoft has revealed that it is updating its GitHub Copilot interaction data usage policy to allow the company to use this particular type of data to train its AI model. For clarity, interaction data involves inputs, outputs, code snippets, code context, comments, documentation, file names, repository structure, navigation patterns, and basically any interaction with Copilot.

Will they check the code before doing so? If not, then it is time to write the worst possible code that looks normal. 😈
I am a fan of malicious cooperation.
Good that I don’t have any then.
Right? The way I’m reading this, nothing I have on Github will be included because I write all my shitty code the old fashioned way.
I don’t care what they use my data for. It’s Foss
What I do care is that they’re trying to keep it for themselves by authwalling my public repo!
You might still look. In the banner on the site it says Copilot interactions. I suspect the way data collectors work, that will pretty quickly mean even if you don’t explicitly interact with copilot they’ll be sucking up your site interactions and personal data for training because “its all copilot”
I don’t care.
But I do care about the authwalls
I hope they use my data! Because I feed it absolute garbage.
You would think this would be enough for folks to revolt and flee the platform, but most folks can’t be bothered.
