Finally played Road 96 and I was hooked, finished it in three evenings, it was awesome!

I’m looking for recommendations of games with this main feature: replayability with different paths/choices that allows npc related story meta progression

Sorry for the convoluted description but hopefully you get what I mean. I don’t remember playing a game with such a structure before, where you’re playing different teenagers but meeting a recurring cast and seeing how they evolve. It was awesome, it’s kind of a rogue lite, but also more story / visual novel focused.

I guess Hades would fit? But I’m not necessarily looking for games with more emphasis on the roguelike part, nor a fully story focused game like Life is Strange, just the right mix between the two 🤔

Heading Out is a driving game where you are trying to make it across the country and there are lots of branching stories and paths based on your choices and who you meet along the way. It is quite stylised and really had me hooked when I first played it. Definitely worth a try! The end was quite memorable.

Keep Driving is a driving / road trip simulator. This one didn’t click as well with me and I couldn’t really get into it but it also had different paths and stories based on your different choice etc and may be worth checking out for you.

It’s about 10 hours to complete, and very easy to pick up / put down!

I don’t know if it’s exactly what you’re looking for (and it might have a little too much gameplay) but I just finished the Banner Saga (first part of the trilogy) and it at least offers what you’re looking for in terms of choices mattering and branching storylines - especially going into game 2 and three apparently.

The way the turn based combat plays out is not for everyone - it didn’t vibe with me personally - so don’t feel bad if you end up playing it on Easy just for the story.

Everything besides the combat is absolutely phenomenal, though. Beautiful hand drawn art, gorgeous music and a very well written story with a somber and melancholy tone that has plenty of interesting characters - and many impactful choices for the player that leads to actual consequences one way or another.

I think Pyre would fit as well, next to Hades. Pyre has a bit choice based difference between the story development in contrast to Hades, but it’s still linear for the majority of the game.
