The Mystery Bird is a Mourning Dove

 Well, I know it's a Dove....

but what kind of Dove is it? It's a Mourning Dove!
Thanks to all the experts for the help!

We couldn't get a different view of him...he sat very still!

We see the Mourning Dove frequently here in Florida.

And sometimes we have this cute little Ground Dove visit our feeders.

But when we were at the Pruitt Trailhead the other day we spotted this pretty soft brown dove on the fence rail. I have a couple of ideas but I'll leave it open for your suggestions and hopefully be able to come back and put an ID on it later.
The weather is perfect for hiking right now and it's something I can do even with a headache! Thanks for the sweet comments on my owl post and for your concern over my headaches. I'll keep you posted! I know you can't wait to hear if I have a headache today. I'll ask my hubby! hahahaha! (and they can't be ALL that bad if I'm laughing and hiking)

Big flocks of Sandhill Cranes are still flying overhead and we put out an extra feeder in our courtyard this week. The little Chipping Sparrows, Bluebirds, Warblers and finches are in abundance.

I was standing very close to this Black and White Warbler.

Have you had a good 'critter' week too?

What have I missed? Mosaics?

I took a week off from blogging. I would like to say that I stayed off my computer for a week but my hubby would say I did NOT go 'cold turkey' no pun intended! I did limit my time online but it didn't seem to help my headaches. And I missed everyone SO much! I look forward to doing some visitin' but I will still have to be prudent. So let me know what I've missed on your blog in your comment.

We did a LOT of hiking this past week and that always makes me feel better.

The grasses in the fields look so beautiful.

We spent one afternoon hiking the Ross Prairie State Forest loop.

I received a fun gift box from my friend Kathy from Looking at Life through my Bifocals HERE. I won her blog giveaway and she filled a box with nice things for me to enjoy! Thank you Kathy!

And my blog buddy, Tom the Backroads Traveller HERE sent me a wreath again this year. I am getting spoiled having a fresh wreath from NY to enjoy all Christmas season. It hangs on my front door but we keep our big door open most of the time during the day so it puts the fresh evergreen scent into our house all day. Thank you Tom!

I baked yeast rolls using King Arthur Flour for Thanksgiving dinner. I love their catalog and wish I could afford to order things from it. But I'll be happy with the flour! It really is the best.

Have you had a good week? I know it's been difficult for many so let's continue to keep each other in our prayers. My friend Barbara from Sweet Tea and Sandals lost her precious Beloved husband a few days ago. Please keep her in your prayers. And let me know if you have someone that needs my prayers. Let's encourage and hold each other up in these hard times. God bless you.

I have a Shiner!

I had fun with my post yesterday but that was BEFORE

I always knew things could get worse but I had a crazy accident right after it published. Let's see, I pulled all the bedding off my bed and was in the process of washing 3 loads of laundry. I was in the middle of vacuuming the bedroom, I had the ironing board out ironing pillow covers to change them in the lanai and the roofers were on top of the roof measuring it for a new roof. I went into the front room to iron the pillow covers and reached up to pull the chain to change the setting on the ceiling fan and BAMMMM!!! The heavy glass globe fell off and came down on my face and knocked me to the floor. It hit me on the brow and cheekbone. Luckily my sweet hubby had just come inside so I yelled for him. He helped me up and brought me an ice pack and went back out to check on the roofers.

So another day...another headache. Oh, and a shiner too! Let's see....how old am I? In all these years I don't think I've ever had a shiner! I wonder how I'll look with a mask on and a black eye

I'm sharing photos of a beautiful Black-crowned Night Heron that we saw at Blue Run Park.

It landed in the tree and fluffed it's feathers.

And it looked like a different bird!

Can you see it in this photo, the Great White Egret is in the water and it's in a tree in the top right corner of the photo?

And just a couple of neat photos of the Wood Ducks we saw that day.

We saw the male and female.

They were behind grasses but I thought the photos were still good.

So...just when you think things couldn't get any worse....isn't  that what I said yesterday? I'm going to go ahead and publish this early and link to my parties tomorrow. I may need to take a few days off to recover. I'll visit everyone soon I hope!

Take care and love one another!
