I’ll have you know that my friend at the ACME chocolate milk factory, Willie, swore to me that only brown cows can be used for production. He swore this over a stack of Spider-Man comics, so this is convincing and compelling evidence. Please retract your assertion good sir!!!

You forgot the step where it overtakes your yard and life.
like chocolate milk doesn’t come from brown cows.

3·2 days agoYes. I am trying for as much as I can afford. I am also looking towards the highest wattage panels (probably bifacial). Are the newer N-type panels worth buying?
Edit: Yes…They are more efficient which also means more expensive. https://www.electricaltechnology.org/2024/06/p-type-n-type-solar-panel.html

3·2 days agoI appreciate the information! Yes, I still have some of the large servers and I don’t see them being retired soon either. We’ve always had higher bills because of it, and that was fine when power was inexpensive. The recent data center cost increases being shoved onto the consumers has solidified my desire for renewables to offset the hikes and I am lucky enough to be able to afford it, atm.

2·2 days agoWith all the rate hikes, we no longer have cheap power in the PNW. I was recently able to get enough together that I think I can afford it, so I called Signature Solar yesterday and started a dialog and quotes. I watch a youtuber (Jesse Muller) and he recommended them. They seem to use decent quality gear.
How many kWh a month do you use? We use a…lot. I am a systems admin, so I have gear in the homelab I’d like to maintain through any grid outages. I have three potential service goals: essential power, whole house, and finally whole house and shop. I’d rather start on the small side, but want to be able to reuse gear, if at all possible, as I go up in capacity.
Anyhow, just saying another Dull Guy is getting into solar, but I still have much to learn. Any youtube channels you’d recommend? Other resources? Advice?

74·6 days agoAnd isn’t that insane? It boggles my mind that they wish for a dystopian hellscape to be inflicted upon everyone. They cannot escape nor control that situation even though they have the hubris to believe they can. Even if they could survive, what world would they enjoy? Perhaps the mental illness of immoral and unbridled greed also compels them to relish in the endless misery of the human race.
Build a better world and a rising tide lifts all boats. Super simple.

1·6 days agoNothing unusual, really. I typically put on classical music, but oft times am in a hurry and Kodi will sit and churn on a genre, so the quick pick is everything including podcasts. If a podcast is going upon our return, I ask them what they’ve learned.

3·7 days agoI’m using Kodi to put on endless playlists. Mostly for our pets when we’re away. It’s nothing fancy, but works fine. “Party Mode” is their on the fly playlist. Once in a genre/artist, you tap left and a small menu shows it. Two clicks and it plays an endless medley of tunes.

I thought they could also see atmospheric composition as it passes in front of the star, no? Having that info and the data you’ve just mentioned they postulate if it’s habitable or not. Obviously not seeing any detail at all about land mass shapes, but perhaps composition? I’m not a spaceologist, so I’m only musing.

Himalayan Blackberry. An invasive for sure. Love the berry, but hate the plant as they spread very aggressively.
