  • Modern western ideas where the most important part of sexual orientation is who you find attractive is somewhat new, and while it’s gained a lot of popularity among queer people worldwide it’s still not the default model everywhere. In a lot of times and places things such as who you have sex with regardless of attraction or what role you take in sex are considered more important (also at what age). Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if some people were to see a man who only has receptive sex and exclusively with women as more gay than a man who exclusively tops men.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if they’re thinking that a straight man might be willing to top a man to get out of the military, but not to bottom

It’s not a choice I’d personally make, but it’s often associated with mental illness or a deep feeling of the need to be free (especially in young people). For the former it’s associated with PTSD and feeling like if you no longer fit into normal life. For the latter it’s kinda like backpacking across Europe, but across whatever continent you’re on, often staying at punk houses and squats along the way.

He’s not wrong. It’ll be a really shitty journey as it’s just voluntary homelessness, but you can choose to live as a hobo if you’re brave enough. And if you’re brave enough you can cross borders without permission. Not a good idea at all, lots of walking, hunger, sleeping outside, and hiding from authorities, but hey, you can.

  • Cars sold in America are largely made in a process that involves significant value add in Mexico, the US, and Canada (and it would be very difficult to cut any out of it). Though they often use some components from elsewhere in the world.

Honestly anything of sufficient complexity made in the USA is probably partly made in Canada, and I’m in favor of that. I’d rather buy something made in OR, WA, and BC than replace Canadian labor with labor from a state with anti worker laws and less basic rights. At least I know Canadians aren’t being leased from a prison to makr products.
