Hi all, I have added a few links to the sidebar. They are probably more relevant to the those who plays Pocket seriously, but can be good references to casual players too.
Anyway, I thought to make a post about these resources - plus a few more that don’t really belong to the sidebar IMO - because the sidebar is easy to miss.
Let’s get to it.
Battling
Limitless - Tournaments are the main driver of competitive meta, and Limitless is the de facto hub for organizing tournaments. You can sign up for tournaments here or browse the data for insights into what the metagame is like.
TopDex - This website presents the tournament data from Limitless using nice visuals. I can see the Deck Matchups section becoming especially useful when ranked play is reopened.
PocketMads - A Youtube channel who is also the organiser of the largest Pocket tournament. He also provides valuable insights and commentary regarding the competitive scene IMO.
Trading
Just an aside: this is a digital card game, so one can argue that the “value” of each card is subjective. Ultimately, do what you are happy with.
pokemon.eleet.dev - This website laid the cards out nicely, sorted by their trading value. It makes it easy for you to see if you are entering a fair trade, or if you got seriously low-balled. IMO they got the relative ordering of the cards right, but I have no clue how they came up with the numbers for their Scarcity Index.
2-star and shiny tier list - This Reddit post ranked the most sought-after cards in a tier list. What makes it valuable IMO (even though the tier list is already outdated) is the metric it introduced: Net Desirability. It takes into account both supply-demand ratio and trade volume.
PokeHub - This mobile app helps you find trading partners in Pocket. It provides a good user experience IMO, if not for the tsunami of ads you have to endure if you are on the free tier. Personally, I’d appreciate if you use our community’s trading post in addition to such apps.
PokeTrade - Another mobile app for you to find trading partners in Pocket. Personally, I found fewer good matches using this app as compared to PokeHub. However, it provides a very valuable data: it shows you the number of users who are looking for / offering each card. Most trading tier list / visuals / etc should be based on the data from this app. Personally, I’d appreciate if you use our community’s trading post in addition to such apps.
Miscellaneous
Pokemon Zone - This specific page on their site tells you about upcoming events, which can be helpful if you are the type of player to plan resource usage (e.g. hourglasses) in advance.
The Pocket Hub - A website for tracking your collection. I find their Pack Advisor feature especially helpful for determining which pack to open next; I like to maximise my chances of pulling a new card.
Luckycad - This Youtube channel has been consistently pumping out videos that showcase non-meta decks, which may help you find fun decks to play. I like how he tends to verbalise his thoughts, explaining why he made certain decisions. It may seem like he made a suboptimal play, but turns out it’s because he is playing around a specific card that would have cost him the game.
Noticed that I missed something out? Thought that something should be included? Please share with all of us in the comments below!

Can you create/pin a new trade post? Or should I just create one for what I want?
Here’s the trade post: link here
I don’t know if your view of Lemmy is different from mine, but on my end it is the featured post for the Pokemon Pocket community. Is it not working for you?
It’s not on my view, but it’s also not when I look at this comm through crazypeople and ani.social (i.e., when I’m not logged into an instance). I can see the previous trading posts from previous months, just not this one somehow
Hmm I’m not very familiar with this.
@FrostyTrichs@crazypeople.online Any idea what may have lead to this issue?
Edit: I have tried unstickying and restickying the post, but don’t know if it does anything
In the meantime, @ladel@feddit.uk maybe you can create a new post for the cards you want to trade? We hardly get any posts on this community anyway😅
Potentially a couple of things happening. There was a longstanding bug with Lemmy that prevented mod actions from federating out properly if the mod is on a different instance than the community is hosted on. I’m not sure if that was ever fixed, so that could be part of the confusion. On the CPO side there are currently no pinned posts in the community. The historical workaround has been creating an alt on the same instance as the community. I can look into it some more when I’m not so busy with other things.
Another thing that causes UI weirdness across various clients is when titles are too similar to previous posts. Since the trade posts usually follow a similar naming pattern Lemmy often displays them as crossposts instead of new content, which can cause them to become buried depending on the UI and sorting choices of each user. Changing up the names a bit more would probably help with that.
Obviously someone else saw it, but I’ll just make my own post for now
