Their skillset is gaining and retaining power, which is why once they have it all, the entire nation turns into a system to protect their power, ala Putin and North Korea. They do not have a skillset of leadership.
Usually not even very good at it. They just have every advantage handed to them.
Thats like their job, getting power.
They seeks power entirely for its own sake. They are not interested in the good of others, (maybe in that of their closest ones, but I doubt that) they are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness, only power, pure power, for tge sake of having it.
If you wish to imagine, just as a thought experiment, their perfect world. Imagine a boot stomping on a human face, forever.

And the part that screws humanity is that people willingly follow and support people who only care about power.
