Challenge YOUrself #102 "Fun in the Sun"

 Hi Everyone!  HAPPY JUNE!!
Can you believe we are halfway through 2022?!!
I'd like to share my Design Team Inspiration Layout for the Challenge YOUrself Blog's June Challenge #102 ! This month we are asking you to use this beautiful MOOD BOARD as your inspiration.  You can hope on over to the Challenge YOUrself Blog's page to see the challenge rules and prize info - and LOTS more amazing inspiration from the rest of the Design Team!!

I selected a photo of my hubby and I at Horseshoe Bay on our NCL Cruise vacation way back in October of 2019!!! - We were there celebrating our 37th Anniversary that day and it was beautiful!
I used the FAB-U-LOUS Sun Chaser Collection from Heidi Swapp.
I love the colors and thought they worked great with the photo and the Mood Board too!

Here are a few process photos using a stencil and Distress Inks and Oxides on the base page:

I used a different circle stencil and some pearl colored Nuvo Mousse to create the bubbles and also added lots of fun splatters too! On my finished layout, you can see that I outlined some of them with a black Sharpie marker.

And here are a few close ups for you:

How FUN is that velum pocket and sweet tag!!!

Thank so much for stopping by - I hope I've inspired you to play along with us at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!  I'd love to see what you create!
Happy Scappin'

There is an awesome sketch on the Scrap Our Stash Blog for February!  Wait until you see it!  Besides the Sketch - we challenge you to include an item from your stash that starts with the following letters: CUPID
Here is the Sketch:
I selected the following items from my stash for the word challenge:

P - Paper Clip, Puffy Sticker, Paper House 3D Stickers

This layout captures memories of an awesome day spent with family and weekend filled with lots of adult laughs.  I am so thankful that my husband and his 2 brothers are so close - and that I love my sisters-in-laws as my sisters that I never had.  We always have a great time whenever we are together -even though the "boys" sometimes act like little "boys!"  Love them all with all my heart!
I did find the triangles a bit of a challenge, and ended up using a triangle template that I cut out of scrap paper, and used it as a guide to make the triangles out of some thin washi tape - I am very happy with how they came out - and I can't wait to see what you will come up with!

Here are a few close ups of the details:

I hope you have time to play along with us this month!  Check out the Scrap Our Stash BLOG for more inspiration from my fellow DT Members!  Happy Scrapping! Thanks for stopping by!

April SOS Book Challenge "Paradise Found!"

"Paradise" Found!
When I saw this month's book cover challenge inspiration for Scrap Our Stash's Book Inspired April Challenge, and that the additional challenge was to add 2+ Clouds, I started looking through my photos to see what "inspired" me.  Here is the Scrap Our Stash Challenge - All Details and more Inspiration can also be found on the Scrap Our Stash BLOG!
I found these great photos of some beautiful clouds, from or trip to Turks and Caicos, this past October, and thought they would be fun to use for this challenge.  Here is my DT Layout:

Beaches Resort was AMAZING and we had a super fun time, laughing with my brothers-in law and sister-in law, and made lots of memories - one we will always hold dear and cherish!
Truly PARADISE!

Here are some close ups for you:
Since "photos" of clouds technically are not part of my "stash" ( the clouds need to be part of the scrap items from my stash to count) I selected this FUN Cloud paper from American Crafts.
I LOVED using this new "YOU ARE HERE" Collection from Simple Stories.  Their Sticker sheet and Bits and Pieces pack had clouds in them - so I included them too!

And while I was "digging" through my stash, I found a pack of My Mind's Eye Charm "Sweet" bits and pieces - with 2 of these COOL 3D Velum clouds and had to add them too!!

Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to head on over the the Scrap Our Stash Blog - for more inspiration and Challenge / Prize Details!  I hope you will join in with us this month!!

SOS February Book Cover Challenge - "Beaches"

It is February already - and time for the next BOOK Inspired Stash Challenge from Scrap Our Stash!
I have to say, at first I thought this was going to be difficult, and I was a little confused as to what to do for this challenge, but that is what makes it a Challenge right!!

Here are the rules:
Using the left page, or book cover, as your inspiration, create a layout and include 2 or more HEARTS ( it's February, so of course Hearts are involved!!)
I have to admit, while I love Dr. Seuss, and have ready many of his books to my (now grown up) sons, I have never read this one.  Looking at the picture, I could have chosen the White, Blue, Black, Red color scheme, or a photo of a Moose! or maybe a big banner, or antlers, or a hat, or even just something related to hearts ("Big-Hearted Moose").... really, so many possibilities!  - I hope your mind is running in a bunch of directions right now, as to how you are going to interpret it, and that you will play along with us!  Click on the SCRAP OUR STASH Blog for all the details, deadlines and PRIZE INFO!!

I decided to use the shrubs or foliage at the bottom of the book-cover, and the starburst effect behind antlers as my inspiration, as they reminded me of a photo / selfie that I took while on vacation
this last October, at Beaches in Turks and Caicos!  Here is my layout:
I've had this intricate Basic Grey "Jovial" Die Cut in my stash from FOREVER!!  I thought it would be perfect to use it in this layout, as it has lots of foliage and an awesome color combo too!.  ( Are you as sad as me that Basic Grey has announced they are closing their paper crafting operations :-( )

I used lots of paper embellishments from the Simple Stories Summer Vibes collection -that I inked and matted on cardstock - here are some close ups of all the bits and pieces I used:
There were lizards everywhere at the resort!  I took this little chipboard one, colored him with Peacock Feathers Distress stain, then inked him with some Pearl paint, and then inked him with Twisted Citron Distress Stain. When that was done, I glazed him with Dimensional Magic.

Here we are sitting on the beach in the HOT sun, sipping on some adult beverages!  Let me tell you, this was our first trip to an "all inclusive resort" and it certainly won't be our last!  You can also see some of the paper embellies I used, along with enamel dots, and 2 wooden hearts that I inked with Distress stains, and then glazed with Dimensional Magic.

I made this "Beaches" title from a piece of the note paper that they gave us in the room at the resort. After cutting it out, and matting it - I glazed over the letters and pop dotted it on the layout.  You can also see 2 more hearts that were stained and glazed.

Here are a few more embellies, and you can see what I mean by the selfie in the center, with the palm tree "hat" or the starburst behind my head, kind of like the book cover.  The photo on the bottom left was one of our favorite spots to hang out by the swim-up bar!!

Here you can see where the die cut background is actually "pop-dotted" on the vanilla cardstock base, some enamel dots, and the wooden hearts inked with Distress Stains and then glazed.

A few more paper embellies that are added with pop dots in this corner of the layout.

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you will play along with us on this FUN Challenge over a the Scrap Our Stash Blog!! - Would love it if you took a minute to say Hi, now that you are here!

Challenge YOUrself January Challenge - Anything Goes!

Happy 2016 Everyone!!
I wish you and your families
Good Health and Happiness this coming year.
May 2016 be filled with ONLY Wonderful things!

Since everyone has probably been very busy this past Holiday Season, The Challenge YOUrself Blog is here to help you get back into your "Scrappy/Creative Mode" with a FUN, EASY
"ANYTHING GOES!" Challenge!
That's right - you can create and enter any layout in this challenge -
*As long as it has a photo with YOU in it!!

to see all the Challenge Rules/Deadlines and PRIZE Info too!
I decided to use a favorite "Selfie" photo of my oldest son Nick and I, from a vacation back in 2013.  I can't believe how short I am, or how tall he is! LOL!  Anyway, I LOVE this photo of us on the beach, in North Topsail Beach, NC.

I had lots of fun layer papers from Imaginesce's "Perfect Vacation" paper line!  I love the cool color combo of this line!!  I used "Say Cheese," "Good Times," and "Random Stripes."
LOVE LOVE LOVE the 3D Foam Amy Tangerine "Grace" Thickers- they just pop with all the bright colors!  The white Uniball Gel Pen pops on the black tag too!

I used 3D foam tape to make a pocket behind the photo to add a journaling tag, which has a double washi tape pull.
Washi Tape and Flair are some of my favorite embellies, and also a little Bling too - always gotta have some Bling!! LOL!!
Here is a close-up of the journaling card - you can also see some of the layering, and inky torn edges.  I used Twisted Citron, Picket Fence, Peacock Feathers, and Aged Mahogany Distress Stains and Blue Moon Powder Puff Chalk Ink too!

You have until February 4th to LINK up your entry!  I hope you will play along with us at The Challenge YOUself Blog!!

Happy Scrapping!!

Summer Memories Sketch #419 Scrapbook Challenges Blog

It has been very chilly here in NJ, so it must mean winter is really on the way!

I decided to ignore that fact for a little while longer and use some summer photos for my DT Layout for
SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES.

First here is the VERY FUN Sketch #419

Why do I say it is "FUN" - well, if you don't know by now, I LOVE mixing up patterns and textures, and this sketch is perfect for it and allowed me to do it -in a very big way- as you can see in my layout below, using photos from our 2013 vacation to North Topsail Beach, NC

One of the things I love about doing sketches is that I try to use up the "STUFF" I have in my stash, and this sketch is FULL of all kinds of "STUFF!"

I used paper, stickers and chipboard from the Creative Imaginations Tidepools Collection by Christine Adolph - that I bought at my Local Scrapbook Store  SCRAP-A-DOODLE DOO, (quite a few years ago I'm thinking!)  I added some netting, paper yarn for the banners, seashells and even some Beach Glass Mud Puddles under the shells on the bottom left of the page.

On this close up, you can also see how I decided to make my banners out of circles that I folded over, and stapled to some paper yarn, and created a sparkly layer behind the first layer of circles to make them "pop!"  ( I think they kind of make the banner look like mermaid scales -well sort of - kind of...??)

More sparkly fun was had with a little misting!  Notice the Trunk Bay Glimmer Mist that I sprayed on the manila title and the tag I used for journaling?  I also gave the base page a few sprays before adding the photos and embellishments too!

Oh, speaking of the tag, I actually created a "Pocket" for it, by leaving the top of the bottom left base patterned paper open, so I could slide the tag in it.  This is a cool way of hiding journaling in a layout.  It doesn't take away from the layout design, and hides your handwriting if you don't really like it. It also allows you to write on the front and back - so you can save your thoughts and memories of the time / photos used in your layout!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to check out ALL the Design Team Submissions over at the SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES BLOG, and I hope you will play along with us this month!
