96·2 days agoIt was added after Trump took office. There were articles about it. Apparently labeling doorways is helpful for dementia patients, and many people took this as a sign of dementia.
Here is one of the articles. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-s-new-oval-office-label-sparks-dementia-rumors-to-keep-him-from-getting-lost/ar-AA1PSNV6

movies@piefed.social•What movies ACTUALLY live up to the hype?English
5·3 days agoV for Vendetta , but if you live in the US some aspects are currently uncomfortably believable.
Not as old as most movies people are mentioning, but also Sinners - it surpassed the hype IMO.

5·5 days agoI remember going on road trips as a kid and the windshield and grill of the car would get hammered with bugs during the summer. Now it’s so rare to see a bug splat on the windshield that it’s conversation worthy when it happens.
Old but gold.

Are there still more than like 5 people trying to make Latinx a thing? I thought that one kind of died out early on, but I’m not a member of that community.

10·11 days agoI see your point but I guess part of me really wants to see evidence that more of the maga cult has come to their senses. 84% still being willing to vote for him again damages my view of my fellow americans even more.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump voter regret is clearly registering nowEnglish
59·11 days agoAnother hopeful sounding headline telling us all what we want to hear.
Meanwhile in the text of the article:
When given a chance to recast their 2024 votes, in fact, just 84% of Trump voters said they would vote for him again
Just 84%?!

6·15 days agoIIRC a big problem was that Andrew Johnson was softer on the former confederacy than Lincoln was. Unfortunately thanks to John Wilkes Booth, Johnson became president and he didn’t follow through with Lincoln’s plans or wishes for the former confederate states.

Fair point, but out of the box KDE has pretty sane defaults these days. It’s a very inoffensive desktop.
I have just a couple customizations that I do immediately on a fresh install, but it certainly wouldn’t kill me to use it as it comes.
