Except that time they rioted in the capital and killed a cop.

Wasn’t the cop killed by security when she tried to break into some secured room? I know there was a second cop who had a stroke or something and died the next day, which the media tried to blame on exposure to tear gas or some shit.

The media loves to pretend that less than lethal weapons are nonlethal when convenient, so when protesters die it was a “preexisting condition exacerbated by stress” instead of murder. When a cop dies, though, it’s a cold blooded execution.

I just thought it was funny that a pig got a taste of the shit they’ve been spraying on us their whole career.

    1. Run a terrible candidate who steadily loses her initial polling lead as the campaign goes on.
    2. Tell the initially well-received VP pick to tone it down on the rhetoric that’s making him popular.
    3. Ignore your base and particularly a key voting bloc in an important state on a crucial issue, telling protestors who would otherwise be out knocking on doors for you if you could address their concerns to sit down and shut up.
    4. Loudly signal that the system does not provide a viable way for people to constructively register their dissatisfaction and tell them that they need to just get in line.
    5. Persistently pander to the rabidly fascist supporters of the opponent’s party, further alienating your own base in the process.
    6. Watch the opponent’s campaign run circles around you on new media.

The Republicans can and likely did cheat, but you can only get away with it when the margins are thin. The Harris campaign did everything in its power to ensure the gap was as fudgeable as possible.

The Republicans can and likely did cheat

I assume both parties cheat. It was common practice to cheat all the way up to watergate and cheating much more blatantly than what Nixon got framed for. Carter might be the only guy who got in on a somewhat clean ticket, and only because the removed in suits agreed they needed one real election after Nixon to make people chill out. And I only assume that because I haven’t heard anybody talk at length about fraud in elections between the 70’s and 00’s. The US was plenty comfortable messing with elections abroad in that time period though, so I assume there’s a comrade somewhere on this site that has an article or two about domestic election fraud as well.

It’s more or less taken for given that Bush stole the '00 election, Hillary had the primaries rigged for her. I know Kennedy had the whole Cook county thing. Lyndon B. Johnson had an election fraud scandal early in his career. Why would they have stopped cheating?
Sure Trump cheated. He just cheated better than Kamala.

ps. I believe the past tense of “cheat” should be “chote”

Tbh I do believe that the Republicans could have stolen the 2024 election. They had no problem stealing 2000, some weird shit happened in 2004 to their favor, in 2016 they won on a technicality, and they did try to change the outcome of 2020 as well (no matter how ridiculous the whole thing was).

If someone does believe the Republicans illegally subverted democracy the question should be why they would continue to support Democrats who have done absolutely nothing to fight back for decades though.

+ at least some of the voting computers are rigged for sure. There is no fucking way that the entire political apparatus if corrupt at every level but the voting computers are the exception.

      • No need to rig elections in a system where the bourgeois candidates have a 100% chance of victory.

The real rigging begins with curating public opinion via the bourgeois press, but this is 100% “works as intended” in western systems.

I don’t doubt that voting machines have been compromised and used by interested parties to alter counts, but I am skeptical that this would be done at any scale significant enough to swing results because breaking the widespread belief in the system that legitimizes their rule would be more detrimental to their bottom line than getting a marginally less pro capital candidate in office.

There’ve been people calling out electronic voting machines for security vulnerabilities for just about as long as I’ve been able to vote. I’m pretty sure most other countries just use paper ballots and those are fine.

I figure they all cheat. Gangs of New York was a documentary with that one scene about elections in the 1800’s. Why would they ever have stopped cheating? It’s not like they don’t do everything they can out in the open - gerrymandering and all that

Dems leadership allowed it because they were too cowardly to fight back

Dems are too cowardly to fight for Americans

don’t care if the next president is Harris

just want a party that will actually do what they are supposed to

bloomer let this person cook for a while. This isn’t a kamala or DNC stan. They just can’t comprehend what an obama-trump voter is.

If I’ll be the liberal whisperer for a moment: this person has probably been a ‘vote blue not matter who’, ‘this is the most important election of our life’, type that has finally snapped. The DNC told them Trump would end democracy, and they believed it. And then the DNC just handed the presidency back to Trump so now the DNC is also a traitor.

While I tend to agree that US elections are rigged, if just for a second you think they are legit, there are rational reasons why she lost. One of them is Iran.

She boasted about having the most lethal company in the world and claimed that Trump was soft on Iran. She practically beat Hilary on being the most vocal Dem warhawk. Trump sold himself as the “peace president.” Obviously that was never true, but people wanted to hope it was. Why would they believe Harris was lying about being pro-war?

A war with Iran was inevitable.

The rigged election was the Democratic Primary, which they used to coronate a senile old man with stage four cancer while retaliating against any challengers because the prospect of letting voters decide who should lead the party is absolutely intolerable.

what good cop says literally doesnt matter “good cop tried his best to not let bad cop beat you with a stick, in fact it was bad cop that stole the stick from good cop, if only that dastardly bad cop didnt illegally steal good cops stick”. Not only is kamala harris good cop, but the person writing this bullshit is good cop, and anyone that believe that the person writing it is genuine is good cop too

It’s one thing to have the “rigged election!” copium in the immediate aftermath of an election. But to be still riding that train nearly two years after the fact, that’s just sad.

Important part is that it is irrelevant if republicans won by cheating or not. At the time, dems were the government. They had all the power to stop an election fraud. Same goes for republican cries about 2020 election being stolen. Who are you complaining to? God? There is no institution above us government on us soil. If they were talking about election fraud when they were not in the government, that would have made sense. We are talking about a government that has trillions of dollars worth of budget. They managed to steal the election when they did not have such power? They deserve to have it

Like a true enlightened centrist I take the compromise position that Kamala absolutely lost and that yank elections are not free and fair and that republicans are probably cheating.

Two things can be true at the same time.
