  • I am specifically looking into modding. Is there anything cool I can do with it besides ABadAvatar? I am planning to expand storage to 1TB SSD. Drive also can be flashed but it seems to be super expensive to get flashing tool for that.

Also, if I go ABadAvatar route, is there a way to lock xbox into autobooting directly into Aurora without waiting for ABadAvatar to perform unschackle?

  • Personal anecdote, so take it with a grain of salt.

Friend A, very handy and skilled individual, took Thermodynamics in UNI for 2 years, then dropped out. Found job at electronics production facility. Managed to get to a Head Technician position.

Friend B, went to programming 3 years to UNI. Barely managed to finish. Retried math exam multiple times. Though friend A, managed to get a job at the same place as a lower tier machinery operator. Got promoted to technician position after 2 years. Now works as web QC for the same guy who is boss of electronic production facility.

Moral of the story: education, finished or not, existing or not, wont get you far unless you are outgoing and have connections. Also, you either have ability to learn new skills or have said skills and know how to use them. Doesn’t matter how you got them.

  • For the most part you do not need expensive JBC tools or some super expensive testing tools.

If you plan to dive in, start simple with some USB soldering iron, multimeter and some cheap 20V labratory PSU. I found FNIRSI offers a USB-PD soldering iron with JBC tips for under $100 that is comparable to Weller 80W professional soldering station I got at work.

The other part is just trial and error. Try with simple electronics or guides. Get the general idea on how things work. Most of problems are already solved. It is easy to find repair guide for some old gaming tech or how to chip your consoles.

    Have fun!

1st paragraph - a mirror. As if I’m writing this.

2nd paragraph - even tho I hate exclusivity that they have established, it is not primary reason why I would never use EGS. For me, primary one would be them having a downright crap launcher. The rest is just more reasons to skip using EGS.
