Strong storms to cause significant travel delays this Wednesday

If you have travel plans on the last day of July, thunderstorms could cause problems for you.

00:00We have a lot of problems across the Midwest and into parts of the South on this Wednesday

00:10tied to clusters of large thunderstorms.

00:12Look at all these here just rolling through many populated places.

00:16Major delays will be associated with them.

00:18We'll see some more storms another episode later into the day behind that first cluster

00:23into Minneapolis, bringing more delays to the map and also that first round will reach

00:27Atlanta with at least some showers and thunderstorms in advance of it farther to the south during

00:32the afternoon and evening.

00:33We're in better shape across the Northwest and also the Southwest in better shape as

00:37well where we don't expect to see a whole lot of wind.

00:40It will be breezy for some with fire danger but probably not enough wind to cause travel

00:45delays there into the Rockies.

00:46We'll have some showers and storms into Bismarck but again severe weather potentials a bit

00:49greater into Minneapolis and Omaha in the afternoon and evening and a little bit of

00:54a breeze will pick up into Kansas City with perhaps a minor flight delay there or two.

00:58Also a little bit of a breeze into Dallas will lead to some minor flight delays during

01:01these high volume times at major major airports, gusts over 20 miles per hour for some.

01:07Major delays tied to thunderstorms will be scattered across parts of Middle Tennessee,

01:10North Georgia at times late in the day as well.

01:12We had some recent ground stops earlier this week tied to similar thunderstorms in these

01:17areas and you can see a little bit of a shower or two in the morning in Miami then a drier

01:21afternoon.

01:22Scattered thunderstorms return to the afternoon around Jacksonville and in Raleigh as well

01:26but up into areas around Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus.

01:31When these storms roll through these areas there will be some big delays tied to them

01:34and Detroit scattered thunderstorms will pop near the afternoon in that area.

01:39The New England state scattered showers and storms are also with us there.

01:42Right down I-95 spotty hit or miss thunderstorms that will lead to some localized delays there

01:47and some of the airports could be impacted.

01:49The number of flight cancellations will be escalating a bit into Thursday and again Saturday.

01:54Bigger problem times just slightly above average numbers on those days.
