The Hodgson family have lit up their Leeds house once more with an interactive Halloween walkthrough light experience in Cross Gates which supports Martin House Children’s Hospice.

00:00Hello I'm Dom Hodgson and you're here at Hodgson Family Lights. We have over 30,000

00:05lights, we have interactive buttons, we've got selfie stations and it's all free.

00:09We convert our entire house into a walkthrough display and I'd love you to

00:14see it. We've been working on this all year coming up with ideas, hounding

00:18charity shops and wanted groups have had a lot of stuff donated. We've had some

00:21more Wendy houses donated, we've turned one of them into our donation station so

00:25with our charity partner we've turned it into a mini Martin house where people

00:28can donate. We are having a skeleton pool party this year so you'll see

00:32skeletons in the pool, having a drink, we've got a DJ and everything so

00:37it's gonna be a lot of fun. This is our sixth year doing this, we are hopeful

00:41that last year we raised over four thousand pounds, this year I think we're

00:43gonna hit sixty thousand including all the other stuff that we've done together

00:47and we we do it because the reaction, the reaction from the neighbours, from

00:51people, people travel from Manchester and Wakefield to come and see this and it's

00:56something that we love doing. It's tiring, it's stressful but we wouldn't

01:00have it any other way. We're really pleased with how it's all come together

01:03now, we've tried to do, we're trying to introduce more interactive elements

01:07this year to the display so lots more buttons that kids can press and we keep

01:11slowly adding a few more every day, some different, different stuff. At the same

01:16time we've still got all the same lights, we've still got all the songs that

01:19everybody loves. I really like it, we have my favourite inflatable don't we? We do,

01:24the Bucky yes, and some friends helped us get that and we're really, really

01:29pleased with them. Some of the main session can be overwhelming so we have a

01:33much quieter session, there's no flashes, there's no dancing on here and it's just

01:37glows, the music's lower and it's also quieter so people can take their own

01:41time and have their own space. My house currently looks like a bomb's hit because

01:44Christmas is already in the dining room, the living room, the spare bedroom and

01:48the bathroom ready to come out so we close on the 1st of November and then

01:53we'll have a day off on the 2nd and then the 3rd, Halloween will start to come

01:56down and Christmas will go straight back up ready for our December the 1st opening.
