Would you switch to an electric vehicle despite the lack of chargers?

With a shortage of EV chargers across the UK, we ask locals whether they would still consider switching to an electric vehicle. How much of a barrier is the UK’s charging infrastructure to going electric?

00:00I charge my vehicle at home which is fine and I tend to plan my route so that

00:04I can always charge my vehicle at home. I have done some long-distance routes to

00:10the airport and things like that where we've stopped at services to charge the

00:14car and it's become a bit more difficult than I thought because there's

00:19potentially only four or five fast chargers at the services and you've got

00:23a queue of potentially seven or eight cars that are waiting for these chargers.

00:27I think whilst you're at work and overnight that's fine but if you're doing any long

00:30distance and that can be a problem particularly when you're trying to find

00:33a charger and find that it's out of order so it's not as easy as a petrol

00:38that you can turn up and then at least get a can of petrol.

00:40I'm sure they will improve and in a few years we'll have some proper devices. It's necessary I mean

00:46the pollution is damaging the world so I'm sure that

00:53electric cars or any devices will be better in the future.
