00:07into New York's iconic Brooklyn Bridge.
00:10Oh, my God.
00:13Two crew members killed, more than a dozen injured. Witnesses shocked at the scene unfolding
00:18right before their eyes.
00:19It looks very surreal.
00:21The investigation this morning.
00:25New this morning, Pope Leo officially installed as the leader of the world's 1.4 billion
00:30Catholics, greeting the tens of thousands of people in St. Peter's Square.
00:34You can hear the applause right there. That is Pope Leo. The first time we are seeing
00:38him in the Popemobile.
00:40Taking part in a solemn ceremony steeped in tradition. Our live report from Vatican City.
00:48Disaster zones. At least 27 people killed across several states in a widespread severe
00:53weather outbreak. Neighborhoods and lives shattered. Samara tracking the new storm
00:58threats this morning.
01:01Fertility clinic explosion. A deadly blast being called an act of terrorism when a car
01:06explodes outside the Palm Springs Clinic. The latest on the investigation.
01:12Alzheimer's test. The FDA grants approval for a simple blood test to help diagnose the
01:17devastating illness. We're talking with the doctor about this massive medical advance.
01:27Sports Sunday. It was the stars for Dallas on the ice. Plus, ESPN's Chinay Ogulike with
01:35the teams looking to advance in the NBA playoffs. And the season gets off to a strong start
01:41in the WNBA.
01:46Live from ABC News in New York, this is Good Morning America.
01:52And we do say good morning America on this Sunday. We have a lot to get to this morning.
01:56That incredible, incredible story overnight. That breaking news. A Mexican Navy ship slamming
02:02into New York City's iconic Brooklyn Bridge.
02:04The mast hit the underside of the bridge sending sailors who were on that mast tumbling. Others
02:10clinging for their lives. Onlookers absolutely stunned at the scene unfolding before them
02:15on a warm spring night.
02:17At least two people were killed and more than a dozen others injured. The incident setting
02:21off a huge emergency response. ABC's Reena Roy is at the scene with the very latest.
02:26Reena, good morning.
02:27Wick, good morning to you. That's right. This bridge is a major tourist destination here
02:32and it looked to be pretty busy when officials say that boat lost power and slammed right
02:37into it.
02:41Oh my God.
02:44Overnight, shock and horror after a Mexican Navy ship carrying hundreds crashed into the
02:49Brooklyn Bridge killing two and injuring several on board. Dramatic videos capturing the moment
02:57it happened around 8.30 p.m. Saturday. The boat approaching the bridge slowly making
03:02its way under. Then you can see that tall mast slam into the bridge crumbling.
03:06The ship is a goodwill vessel that has been on the waters for more than 20 years sharing
03:17Mexican culture. Its name is Cuauhtemoc.
03:21Onlookers filming from the nearby pier. Some running as the ship looms closer and closer.
03:29People on board seem hanging off those broken masts. First responders rushing to the scene
03:35Of the 277 on board, at least two killed according to officials. 17 others injured, two still
03:41in critical condition. The training ship had been docked at a nearby pier and had just
03:46departed for its journey to Iceland.
03:48The captain that was maneuvering the ship lost power of the ship and the current mechanical
03:56function caused the ship to go right into the pillar of the bridge, hitting the mast
04:04of the ship where there was a couple of sailors on top. It looks very surreal. Flavio Morera
04:10was sightseeing with his family for his graduation weekend when he saw it all happen, taking
04:16this video and speaking to us shortly after from nearby.
04:19It kept coming and coming and coming. And I just remember thinking, wow, this is so
04:24odd. It's getting too close. And then it crashed. It crashed under the bridge.
04:32Right now, officials also confirming the bridge has no damage here and nobody had fallen
04:36into the water. The NTSB now leading the urgent investigation, Gio.
04:41And that part is very good news, Reena. Thank you so much. Let's go ahead and bring in ABC
04:45News contributor John Nance. John, good morning. Thank you for being here. We heard right there
04:49that it appears the ship lost some power. Incredibly, that bridge is still intact. What
04:55is the NTSB going to be looking at here?
04:59They're going to be looking at everything. This is exactly the same as with an aircraft
05:02crash. They're going to be looking at the propulsion system, what did and didn't happen.
05:06Obviously, there was a stiff wind blowing the ship. And who was at the controls and
05:12precisely what their interchanges were. All of these things will be up for massive consideration.
05:18And John, as you know, the Brooklyn Bridge is one of the busiest in the country. It wasn't
05:21that late. And in those videos, we actually see so many cars driving on that bridge when
05:26the accident happened. It's just incredible, right, that no one on the bridge was even
05:30injured.
05:31That is kind of amazing, because the intersection of the top of the mast with the bridge, you
05:37would have thought that might be all the top of the bridge of the cars. In fact, what we've
05:42got here is a situation where a wooden ship, it's really no match for an iron bridge. And
05:48that is a very tough bridge.
05:49All right, John Nance, thank you so much for your insight there. We appreciate it.
05:53Thank you so much, Janae.
05:54All right, Gio, now to the installation of Pope Leo, the first Roman Catholic pope from
05:58the U.S. formally taking over this morning as leader of the church. ABC's Maggie Rooley
06:04joins us live from Vatican City with the latest there. Good morning, Maggie.
06:08Hey, Janae, good morning. What a celebration this morning in St. Peter's Square. Guys,
06:14it was incredible to witness the official start of Pope Leo's papacy. In his homily,
06:19he spoke of peace and unity and laid out what he sees as the future of the Catholic
06:23Church.
06:25This morning, tens of thousands crowd St. Peter's Square to mark the official start
06:29of Pope Leo XIV's papacy.
06:30You can hear the applause right there. That is Pope Leo. The first time we are seeing
06:31him in the Popemobile. He has left St. Peter's Square, going down into Rome right now. You
06:32can still hear the applause behind him.
06:33At one point, the Popemobile stopping for Pope Leo to hold and bless a baby in the crowd.
06:47The mass, rich in tradition, Pope Leo praying before the tomb of St. Peter, before receiving
06:55the symbols of the papacy. The pallium, a woolen vestment worn over his shoulders, and
07:01the fisherman's ring, a signet ring bearing the image of St. Peter and traditionally used
07:05to seal letters. The symbols presented by cardinals representing Europe, Africa and
07:10Asia.
07:11Pope Leo addressing the faithful outside, urging peace and unity.
07:19In the crowd, more than 150 delegations from around the world, including Vice President
07:24J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as President Zelensky of Ukraine.
07:29Today may be his official start, but Pope Leo has already taken a proactive role in
07:34global affairs, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
07:40With the Vatican offering to host peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
07:47And guys, the Vatican says that Pope Leo will be meeting with President Zelensky. We also
07:51know he met with the President of Peru before mass today. It seems like he's already taking
07:55a growing interest and a lead in global affairs. Guys, we also saw him greeting and blessing
08:00people in the crowd. It was really incredible to witness Pope Leo, this new American pope,
08:05interacting with the faithful that have gathered here in St. Peter's Square.
08:10And I think what's really incredible as we're watching this video is that, you know, there's
08:13so much focus on what a remarkable and historic moment this is and what a historic past few
08:18weeks it's been. But guys, we're only just getting started. We're going to be seeing
08:23a lot more of Pope Leo and what he does for the future of the church, guys.
08:27That is for sure. Quite a morning there in Vatican City. Maggie, thank you. We do want
08:32to turn now to the deadly storm outbreak in our nation's heartland, scenes of destruction
08:36across multiple states. The death toll climbing as many of the hardest hit areas could face
08:41another round of dangerous weather. ABC's Alex Stone is in London, Kentucky, with more.
08:46Alex, good morning.
08:48Wade, good morning to you. There is just so much devastation here. It is like this, mile
08:53after mile, neighborhood after neighborhood, families cleaning up, and the number killed
08:58continues to rise.
09:01This morning, communities left reeling after deadly tornadoes and storms ripped through
09:06the Midwest, claiming at least 27 lives. In Kentucky, neighborhoods in ruin, entire rows
09:12of houses gone, roofs ripped off homes, cars shattered. Search and rescue teams combing
09:19through the wreckage, hoping to find survivors. Across the state, 18 people now confirmed
09:25dead.
09:26We're going to need a lot of help. We're going to need a lot of funding. We're going to need
09:29a lot of cooperation.
09:30Rescuers say many who lost their lives lived in these London neighborhoods. Eight-year-old
09:35Ellie tells me it was the scariest few minutes of her young life as their home disintegrated
09:40around them.
09:41Everything was just breaking and shattering. It was one of the worst sounds.
09:45Her mom, Kendra, injured with a broken foot and bruises from falling debris, held onto
09:50her babies to keep them alive.
09:52And I can remember Jordan saying, God, please, please protect my babies. Please keep my babies
09:57safe.
09:58Many residents here have lost so much, like Carol Wells, the home she lived in for 50
10:02years destroyed. But she says she feels lucky to be alive.
10:05I'm just glad that God let us live another day.
10:08And in Missouri, at least seven people dead, this neighborhood destroyed after a tornado
10:12tore through. And in St. Louis, where five of those lives were taken, crews are working
10:17around the clock to clear debris.
10:21This massive tree uprooted from the ground, this man running for cover after it fell over
10:25his pool deck, narrowly missing him.
10:28Over in Illinois, the devastation sprawling there, too. Residents beginning the painstaking
10:33process of picking up the pieces.
10:37And incredibly, guys, this home right here came from across the street. It landed where
10:42it is now, the family's possessions all over, refrigerators, countertops, toys. And we're
10:48told this family, neighbors tell us, they got out safely.
10:51Gio.
10:52All right, Alex, thank you so much for that.
10:54Now to turn here to the blast outside of California Fertility Clinic, at least one
10:58person killed and local authorities say it appears to be an intentional act of terrorism.
11:03ABC's Jacqueline Lee is there in Palm Springs this morning. Good morning, Jacqueline.
11:08Gio, good morning. You can really get an idea of the magnitude of this explosion. The contents
11:13of the building spread across all five lanes of this main road. Now authorities are focused
11:18on identifying the person killed.
11:22This morning, a car explosion rocking a Palm Springs Fertility Clinic in what officials
11:27are calling an act of terrorism.
11:30Terrorism came knocking on the door of Palm Springs. We survived.
11:37The blast so powerful, it injured at least four people, killed one, and severely damaged
11:42buildings spanning multiple blocks Saturday.
11:45We have a black car that's still coming up.
11:48This is probably one of the largest bombing investigations that we've had in Southern
11:51California.
11:52Officials have a person of interest, but said they are not actively searching for a suspect.
11:57The person killed was found near the charred car on scene, but officials would not share
12:02if that person was a victim or suspect.
12:04We heard this loud noise. We actually thought something had hit our building.
12:09The car explosion originated in the parking lot of the American Reproductive Center, which
12:14describes itself as Coachella Valley's first and only full-service fertility center and
12:19IVF lab.
12:20The center writing in a statement, we are immensely grateful to share that no members
12:24of the ARC team were harmed and our lab, including all eggs, embryos, and reproductive materials,
12:31remains fully secure and undamaged.
12:34Authorities raided a property in 29 Palms, believed to be related to the suspect, not
12:39providing more details, but clarifying they believe the explosion was an isolated incident.
12:45The American Reproductive Center says it will be fully operational come tomorrow morning
12:50And guys, get this.
12:52Authorities say that a witness noticed there was a tripod and a camera at the scene of
12:57the explosion as if it were being live-streamed.
13:00The investigation continues.
13:01Janaye.
13:02Wow.
13:03Mind-blowing there, Jacqueline.
13:04Thank you for those updates.
13:06Turning now to the massive manhunt for inmates who busted out of a New Orleans jail.
13:11Seven of the 10 who escaped are still on the lam more than 72 hours later.
13:16ABC's Faith Abubeh is in New Orleans with more on the efforts to try to track them down.
13:20Good morning, Faith.
13:21Yeah.
13:22Good morning to you, Janaye.
13:24The search for those seven remaining fugitives growing more desperate this morning.
13:29We're now in day three since that brazen escape from this jail and that was caught on surveillance
13:34camera and still a majority of those inmates were still on the run.
13:38Authorities are concerned for the potential threat to the public here.
13:42They're ramping up their police for public assistance to find them.
13:46Records show that some of the escaped inmates were being held on murder charges.
13:50One of them already convicted of second-degree murder.
13:53Now, investigators say a total of 10 inmates took advantage of defective locks at the jail
13:57here in New Orleans, crawled through a hole behind a toilet and had at least a seven-hour
14:03head start on Friday before jail officials even noticed that they were gone.
14:07Three of them are now back in custody, but again, authorities are struggling to find
14:11the rest of them.
14:13So, some officials have indicated that they believe that this was an inside job.
14:16They have launched an internal investigation here at the jail into the stunning security
14:22breach.
14:23Witt.
14:24Still so many questions.
14:25Faith Abubay, thank you.
14:26This morning, President Trump is back in the U.S. after his trip through the Middle East
14:29and facing some defiant Republicans in the House blocking a key part of his domestic
14:34agenda.
14:35ABC's Selena Wang is in Washington, and Selena, it's back to the drawing board on Trump's
14:39mega bill.
14:40Good morning.
14:41Hey, Witt.
14:42So, we're not back to square one, but this is a major setback for President Trump.
14:45He had a group of hardline House Republicans defying their party and voting to block President
14:51Trump's agenda from advancing.
14:53So this mega bill would extend his tax cuts and slash spending on programs like Medicaid
14:57and food stamps.
14:59Democrats voted down the measure, warning millions would lose their health care coverage.
15:03But these hardliners blocked it because they don't believe it goes far enough.
15:06They want to see even deeper spending cuts.
15:09They argue that this plan adds too much to the federal deficit.
15:12So the House Budget Committee, they're working through this weekend trying to get this bill
15:16back on track.
15:17And, Witt, President Trump, he's putting the pressure on his party, telling them to get
15:22this done, stop talking, and just get it done.
15:24All right.
15:25So we'll see how all of that plays out.
15:27Meantime, Selena, this also comes as President Trump has a very important call with Russia's
15:31President Putin tomorrow.
15:32Yeah, this is a high-stakes call.
15:35President Trump says he's speaking to Putin at 10 a.m. tomorrow, then following up with
15:38calls to Ukrainian President Zelensky and NATO leaders.
15:42And this comes just after Ukrainian and Russian officials met in Istanbul for their first
15:48face-to-face talks in more than three years.
15:51But no ceasefire deal was reached, and neither Putin nor Zelensky were actually present at
15:56that meeting.
15:57Now, it's unclear, though, what kind of pressure President Trump can put on Putin to get him
16:01to try and agree to a ceasefire deal when Russia and Ukraine are still far apart on
16:06key issues.
16:07Selena Wang for us.
16:09And tune into This Week later this morning, Jonathan Karl speaks with U.S. Special Envoy
16:13Steve Witkoff about peace talks between Russia and Ukraine and nuclear negotiations with
16:18Iran.
16:19Plus, Jon speaks with Senator Rand Paul and Representative Ro Khanna about President Trump's
16:24Middle East tour.
16:25Janaye?
16:26All right.
16:27Now to a medical first, a simple blood test to help diagnose Alzheimer's disease.
16:31It's just been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration for marketing.
16:36Neurologist Dr. Leah Kroll is here to tell us more.
16:39Good morning to you, Dr. Kroll.
16:41So the FDA gave this test a breakthrough device designation to fast-track the approval process.
16:47Explain to us exactly what that means.
16:49You guys, this is such a big deal.
16:50So seven million Americans are living with Alzheimer's.
16:53That number is projected to double by 2060.
16:56So this is something that affects so many people and families in our country.
17:00And until now, the diagnostic tools that we've used to diagnose the disease have been
17:06really invasive, expensive, time-consuming tests like advanced brain scans or spinal
17:11taps.
17:12So to finally have a simple blood test that's accurate, fast, easy, and relatively cheap
17:17is huge.
17:18Really, what this is going to allow us to do is get people that diagnosis faster.
17:23And this could not come at a better time, because in the last couple of years, we finally
17:27have effective treatments for Alzheimer's.
17:30So to be able to get people quick diagnosis, accurate diagnosis, more important than ever.
17:35Yeah, so scary that that number could double in just three decades now.
17:40How does this test work?
17:41So the test looks for two proteins in the blood that are linked to the brain changes
17:45we see in Alzheimer's.
17:47And it's over 90% accurate, so very, very good.
17:51It's designed for older adults 55 and up with symptoms of cognitive decline.
17:55But important to point out here, you guys, it's not a standalone test.
17:58It's really just an addition to the diagnostic toolkit.
18:02You still need a comprehensive evaluation by a specialist for that official Alzheimer's
18:06diagnosis.
18:07It's going to be a little bit of time before this is rolled out to the masses.
18:10We need to make sure that we have guidelines in place to make sure that there's kind of
18:14safe use of the test, responsible use of the test.
18:17We don't want to stoke unnecessary fears or cause unnecessary testing.
18:21But again, the idea is, soon we will have this great test that will get people to the
18:25right specialists, the right treatment, the right clinical trials even faster.
18:29All right.
18:30Dr. Kroll, thank you so much for being here.
18:33Really important stuff.
18:34Yeah.
18:35Absolutely.
18:36Now to the NHL playoffs and a thrilling overtime win for the Dallas Stars.
18:38Now headed to the Western Conference Final, ABC's Ashin Singh is here with more on all
18:43the action there.
18:44So you were on the courts yesterday.
18:45Now we're on the ice.
18:46Yeah, that's right.
18:47We're on the ice.
18:48And it was heartbreak for Winnipeg yesterday as the Jets' Cinderella playoff run came to
18:51a sudden end.
18:53Following the Staveoff elimination once again, the Jets took to the ice with high emotions.
18:57Star forward Mark Shifley deciding to play after losing his father overnight.
19:01And for most of the game, they look like a team on a mission, keeping things tight and
19:05forcing overtime.
19:06But in the extra frame, it was the Stars' Thomas Hurley who delivered a sudden death
19:10goal that punched Dallas' ticket for a date with the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference
19:14Finals.
19:15And now all eyes turn to the East, where tonight it's do or die for the defending champion,
19:20And the Toronto Maple Leafs in a Game 7 matchup.
19:23It's been a back and forth series as Toronto will be counting on star Auston Matthews to
19:27help them advance.
19:28But guys, remember the Panthers have been here before.
19:31They're no strangers to these Game 7s.
19:33And you know, the winner of tonight's matchup, they're going to go on to the Eastern Conference
19:36Finals to play the Carolina Hurricanes.
19:38Guys.
19:39All right.
19:40Weekend sports with Ashin.
19:41That's right.
19:42Thank you so much.
19:43Appreciate it, my man.
19:44All right.
19:45Coming up here, our court case rewind.
19:46What's the testimony in the Sean Diddy Combs racketeering and sex trafficking trial?
19:51And what's ahead in the trial this week?
19:53Also coming up, early Memorial Day deals.
19:55The top discounts that you can snag right now.
19:58And whether tariffs in the trade war will affect your shopping experience.
20:01And it's do or die for the Nuggets and Thunder.
20:04ESPN's Chanae Ogubike joins us to preview today's action.
20:07We'll be right back here on GMF.
20:17No.
20:17Dog's on the table.
20:18You sure that's a dog?
20:22Mmm.
20:23Yeah.
20:24Ruff.
20:25Yeah, that's a dog.
20:26Stitch.
20:27Welcome back to GMF on a Sunday morning.
20:29That's a scene, of course, from the much-anticipated Disney movie, Lilo and Stitch, which is opening
20:34in theaters nationwide on Friday.
20:37Stitch has been driving around in his little mini car, getting everyone excited.
20:40Look at that thing.
20:41You know, GMF will be counting down to the big day with Lilo and Stitch stars and segments
20:46all week long.
20:48We got to see Lilo and Stitch.
20:49We did.
20:50Yeah.
20:51We got Stitch last week.
20:52We didn't like the picture, but.
20:53Because he was so fast on the little, uh, out of there.
20:56Yeah.
20:57Good stuff.
20:58Looking forward to it.
20:59All right, let's take a look at some of the other top headlines that we're following on
21:00this Sunday morning.
21:01Happening right now, an NTSB investigator is expected to arrive on the scene of a small
21:06plane crash in Broomfield, Colorado.
21:09That's near Denver.
21:10The plane was returning to a local airport shortly after taking off when it crashed and
21:14went up in flames Saturday morning.
21:16Officials say there are no survivors but still can't confirm how many people were on board.
21:22Also right now, talks are set to resume today in an effort to end the strike at one of the
21:25largest commuter railroads in the country before the Monday rush.
21:30Although a deal was not reached yesterday, New Jersey Transit Management said that the
21:33bargaining session was productive.
21:36Engineers walked off the job on Friday in a dispute over pay.
21:40It's their first strike in 40 years.
21:42More than 350,000 daily commuters now affected.
21:45But we do start this half hour with a court case rewind, a look at the testimony at the
21:49Sean Diddy Combs racketeering and sex trafficking trial as former girlfriend Cassie Ventura
21:54took the stand.
21:55And what's to come this week?
21:56Joining us is ABC News legal contributor Brian Buckmeyer.
21:59Brian, thank you for being here.
22:01So how well is the prosecution laying out its case?
22:04Ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, she gave some riveting and graphic testimony over four days,
22:09but did it move the needle in regards to the racketeering or sex trafficking charges
22:13against Combs?
22:14So I'm sorry to be the attorney and say yes and no to that question.
22:18And the reason why I say that is, I think Cassie Ventura, we've been calling her the
22:21star witness.
22:22In my mind, she is the star victim.
22:24Her testimony was impactful.
22:25She was completely credible.
22:27I don't think there's a single word or statement that she made that people thought she's making
22:31it up.
22:32But the reason why I say no to this is right now the defense has done a very good job of
22:36positioning this argument of, yes, she was abused.
22:39No one is questioning that.
22:40But was it abuse because of a domestic violence relationship or was it abuse for trafficking?
22:44I think the star witness in this case will be someone from Combs' inner circle, as they
22:49say, that says, no, this was not a toxic relationship.
22:52We knew we were trafficking her.
22:53Here are the conversations outside of Cassie's purview that she doesn't know about, but we
22:58did.
22:59I'm waiting for that witness.
23:00And I think that's when you know how strong this case is.
23:01So that will definitely be something to watch.
23:03And you were also in the courtroom last week.
23:05And I wonder just how did the jury react to this testimony from Cassie Ventura and
23:09some of the evidence presented?
23:11So Cassie is this very soft-spoken individual and very matter-of-fact when she talks about
23:16a lot of the allegations.
23:17But there were parts of the testimony that you can see jurors really had a reaction to.
23:21When she broke down and talked about the work that she had done for her own rehabilitation,
23:26she began to cry.
23:27Near the end of her testimony, she again cried again.
23:29And then, of course, when they saw seven different stills of those freak-offs, as stoic as many
23:34of the jurors were, we saw deep gulps, kind of sitting back in their seat, eyes widening
23:39up.
23:40And so we saw some very visceral reactions to some of the evidence that got put into
23:43this case.
23:44Cassie's husband was actually in the courtroom.
23:46But he left at one point during her testimony.
23:48Yeah.
23:49So I'm sitting in court.
23:50And actually, Whit, I was closer to Cassie's husband than I am to you right now.
23:55And you can see the back of his head.
23:57And I know a lot of the journalists and people are saying, well, he was so angry about the
24:00testimony.
24:01Yes, to some degree.
24:02You can see his face turning red.
24:04You can see his jaw tightening.
24:06Don't forget, this is not just Cassie's husband.
24:09This is the father of her two children and third on the way.
24:13You can see him staring at Combs at many times.
24:17But the reason why he ended up leaving is not because I think the testimony got so difficult
24:21for him.
24:22But the defense is anticipating to call him as a witness in the future.
24:25And so a potential witness cannot listen to the testimony of another witness on the stand
24:29out of fear of changing or altering their testimony based on what they heard.
24:34So he did have to step out.
24:35But I don't think he's mad about the part that he stepped out in because it was about
24:38the allegations of rape and the consensual intercourse that Cassie had with Combs after
24:44that.
24:45Just a quick follow up on that.
24:46That's interesting, the dynamic, because we also saw some of Diddy's kids, children leave
24:49the courtroom, too.
24:50But it seems like this is a bit different because of the potential testimony.
24:53Right.
24:54Absolutely.
24:55And I think you've got to remember the time frame here.
24:56Right.
24:57And specifically Combs' daughters left, his twin daughters who were born in 2006.
25:03At the time that they left, we were talking about allegations of Cassie having an intimate
25:08relationship with Combs shortly after their birth, at the time that their mother, Kim
25:13Porter, broke up with Combs.
25:15And of course, you're hearing these very grotesque allegations about your father.
25:18So I think it's a matter of this is the time that my parents broke up.
25:22This is shortly after I was born.
25:24And I don't want to hear about my father in this light.
25:26I think it might have been a mixture of that.
25:28And the daughters never actually came back after leaving on, I think, the second day
25:30of Cassie's testimony.
25:31And she stayed on for another two days.
25:33This is all really important context that we can only get from someone inside the courtroom,
25:36Brian.
25:37So thank you.
25:38But what about the latest witness to testify, Dawn Richard?
25:40Her allegations were also contained in her civil lawsuit against Diddy, which he broadly
25:44denied.
25:45What kind of impact do you think her testimony is having?
25:48So she was the last one to testify on Friday, and we expect her to start back up again on
25:52Monday.
25:53But she has a very limited role here.
25:55She's talking not about the allegations, as you pointed out in her civil lawsuit, as to
25:58what she claimed Sean Combs did to her, but specifically about an allegation of the violence
26:03that Sean Combs put upon Cassie, where Cassie was making breakfast at a scene.
26:08Sean Combs got very mad, said, where's my eggs, came down, took the pan and started
26:13swinging it at Cassie.
26:14The impact here is that this isn't just violence for the sake of freak-offs.
26:18This is violence for the sake of their relationship and also the seriousness of this violence
26:23as well that Dawn Richard saw firsthand.
26:26Like I said, she's probably going to continue to testify on Monday.
26:28So many details in this case.
26:30Brian, thank you so much for bringing us that.
26:32And make sure to follow the ABC News podcast, Bad Rap, The Case Against Diddy.
26:36It is hosted by Brian.
26:37It's on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen.
26:40And I'm hearing that it's also number one.
26:42So congratulations to you on that.
26:45If you're torn between hitting the beach Memorial Day weekend, but also want to shop the sales,
26:50now you can actually do both because retailers are starting those sales very early.
26:54ABC's Will Gans is ready to save you some money, which is right, guys out, guys out
26:57in the bathing suit.
26:58Nobody says that.
26:59Oh, yeah.
27:00That's right.
27:01I got you.
27:02All right.
27:03So we're saying that this will be the last major sales holiday before tariffs kicked
27:07into effect this summer.
27:08So my goal for this segment is to hook you all up with everything you need for the perfect
27:12backyard barbecue this summer.
27:13All at a discount.
27:14Now, while most of us here present company is plenty capable of throwing shade all by
27:19ourselves.
27:20This 11 foot solar LED patio umbrella is one hundred dollars off its usual price for a
27:24total sale price of three hundred forty nine bucks from Home Depot.
27:27It's a great deal.
27:28Yeah.
27:29Uh huh.
27:30So you can have a little if you're having cocktails as the sun is setting, you'll be
27:34charged up.
27:35All right.
27:36Next, my favorite part of any summer get together.
27:37The food.
27:38Walmart is currently offering a summer cookout meal that serves eight people all for under
27:42six bucks per person.
27:44That includes hot dogs, hamburgers, sides, drinks and dessert at sale.
27:47Yeah.
27:48Is live now through July 6th.
27:50Now, where are we going to keep our sparkling pumplemousse liqueur?
27:53Well, I'm glad you asked today.
27:56Check out this 70 quart that's legit glue cooler.
27:59I know.
28:00Look at that thing.
28:01That looks military grade listed at one hundred ninety nine bucks, a savings of 20 percent
28:05normal asking price.
28:06That's on Amazon.
28:07My kind of cooler.
28:08Yeah.
28:09That's a dad.
28:10Cool.
28:11You can bring that on the beach backyard.
28:14That thing's ready to go with you wherever you're going.
28:16Meanwhile, over at Lowe's, you can snag a Blackstone propane grill for four hundred twenty nine
28:20dollars, which is seventy dollars lower than the original price.
28:23More than five thousand people have bought that grill over the last week alone.
28:28So, yeah, act soon, I guess, if you're interested.
28:30Now, let's talk about the tariffs.
28:31The backyard barbecue items most likely to go up in prices will be plastic utensils,
28:36flatware and cups, since these tend to be disproportionately imported from countries
28:40hit with those high tariffs.
28:41But the good news is that these have a long shelf life.
28:43So there's inventory to last us another 60 to 90 days before we start to see those prices
28:48go up.
28:49So today I'm going to talk up on the red solo time and place.
28:56She offers them when they come for a nice hang by the red solo.
29:01Hey, if it works, it works.
29:03If it's been working since college, why change the recipe now?
29:06All right.
29:07Yeah.
29:08But what should you wait to buy?
29:09So hold off on buying electronics like laptops and gaming consoles until Prime Day and back
29:14to school season and hold off on home improvement tools until Labor Day.
29:19Sales will be better for those things then.
29:21And then for summer, like where things like that, like clothing, July and August.
29:25OK, there we go.
29:26The end of the season.
29:27Skies out, thighs out.
29:28You heard it here first, people, not for everybody coming up for Good Morning America.
29:33The team's looking to advance in the NBA playoffs.
29:36ESPN's Shanae Ogumike previews the matchups, including today's do or die game.
29:41Stay with us.
29:46We are back now on GMA with the teams looking to make a statement as we head deeper into
29:50the NBA playoffs.
29:52Joining us now to break it all down is ESPN basketball analyst Shanae Ogumike.
29:56Shanae, it's always great to have you.
29:58Good morning.
29:59Good morning.
30:00Good morning.
30:02So let's jump right in here.
30:03Do or die game seven tonight between the Nuggets and the Thunder.
30:07What do you think will be the deciding factor here in terms of who comes out on top?
30:13First of all, I want you guys to know that if my voice seems dead, it's because I've
30:16been in basketball heaven.
30:17I was in the garden for Knicks game six and at Barclays for Liberty Ring night.
30:22But to answer your question about today, we have the two best words in sports.
30:27Game seven.
30:28And on top of it, it's the battle of MVPs.
30:30Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic of the Nuggets versus the presumptive MVP in Shea Gildas
30:36Alexander.
30:37Now, the Joker, he's a walking triple-double, but there are three major factors that might
30:41give the edge to the Thunder.
30:43One is health.
30:44Their squad is healthy.
30:45And the youngest in the NBA, they got them fresh legs.
30:47Two, they're at home where they've been having the best home record in the NBA.
30:51And three, they're coming off of a loss.
30:54It will be motivated.
30:55So this will be a brawl for it all.
30:57And I cannot wait because this matchup reminds me of Eminem.
31:00Will the real MVP please stand up?
31:03Please stand up.
31:05And Chanae, you just mentioned the Knicks taking it in six.
31:07Well, now they're heading to Indiana to face off against the Pacers, a rivalry with deep
31:11playoff history.
31:12What do the Knicks need to do to keep this magical postseason alive and away from a hungry
31:17Indiana team?
31:18Look, I am not a New Yorker, but as a basketball fan, this has been like the greatest 48 hours
31:25of my life.
31:26I am not like Lee, Timothee Chalamet, Bad Bunny, Fat Joe.
31:28I am distracted.
31:29But what the Knicks need to do is keep its star studded on the court as well.
31:33We saw them win with grit and toughness in game six.
31:36They were the aggressors.
31:37They were the hunters.
31:39Karl-Anthony Towns, he was literally flexing in the paint.
31:42Jalen Brunson was blowing kisses after knocking down tough contested threes.
31:46OG and Inovi was playing defense.
31:48Josh Hart, his face got bloody.
31:51It did not matter.
31:52He was smiling like a crazy man, like a warrior.
31:54People, stars love the Knicks, and they love this squad because they do not play perfect,
31:59but they play hard.
32:00So to beat the Pacers, it is a how bad do you want it?
32:03They have got to play defense.
32:05Because one thing I know, this city, they want it really bad.
32:08They do.
32:09That is for sure.
32:10Hey, Chanae, it is also the start of the WNBA season.
32:12So we had some good games yesterday.
32:14What stood out to you?
32:15All right, you guys, Kaitlyn Clark, she came in entering the preseason as the favorite
32:21for MVP for the 2025 season.
32:25And even though it is just one game, a very small sample size, you can see that it is
32:28no longer just talk.
32:30She can truly be the MVP this year.
32:32In her first game of the year, she had a triple-double, 20, 10, and 10.
32:36It is just her second year, and she is already tied with Candice Parker for the third most
32:40triple-doubles in WNBA history.
32:43And most importantly, her team had a convincing win by 35 points.
32:47You know, the Fever, they made off-season moves, and now with Tawana Bonner, Natasha
32:51Howard, they can compete with the best of the best, and they might bring out an MVP
32:55in Kaitlyn Clark.
32:56Look, like you said, Kaitlyn Clark, when she shows up, she shows up.
33:00Thank you so much, Chanae.
33:01And ABC's coverage of today's NBA game between the Thunder and the Nuggets starts at 3.30
33:05p.m. Eastern.
33:06This was a great day, huh?
33:07It was.
33:08It was a good day.
33:09It was a good Sunday.
33:10Thank you for starting your day with us.
33:11Absolutely.
33:12And you can catch more weekend news coverage over on ABC News Live.
33:14And in the words of our friend Will Gans, skies out, thighs out.
33:17Enjoy the week, everybody.
33:22Bye-bye.
