00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03For this challenge, you're going to be using flowers and hardware
00:07to make a cohesive line of six looks.
00:10This is the ultimate hard and soft.
00:14Whoa!
00:15You just don't want this to look as though it's consuming her.
00:18You don't.
00:20I'm out of petals.
00:22Oh!
00:23I just don't want to see us be in the bottom.
00:26Amanda is dragging us down.
00:28I'm so tired of having my team in the bottom.
00:30I want to win.
00:35All the looks were so beautiful that we could not declare a losing team.
00:39Yes!
00:40Dream Team, you are the winning team today.
00:42Yes!
00:43And Samantha, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:46That also means you have immunity for the next challenge
00:49and you cannot be eliminated.
00:50Keeping it real, that means you are the second place team.
00:53You don't want to look like that.
00:55My work, I'm realizing it's totally inappropriate for this experience.
00:58Who should go home on your team?
01:00Amanda.
01:01Amanda.
01:02Amanda.
01:03Anyone else feels the same way?
01:04I didn't think this was such a bad designer.
01:07Joe, you're out.
01:10Amanda, that means you're in.
01:11Wow, thanks.
01:12Designers, there is still some business to be taken care of tonight.
01:16What?
01:18This is Project Runway.
01:20Team's edition.
01:21The winner of Project Runway will receive $50,000 in technology and office space from HP and Intel
01:26to bring their creativity to life and run their business.
01:29The fashion spread in Marie Claire Magazine.
01:31The 2013 Lexus GS.
01:34$100,000 from Laurel Paris to start their own line.
01:37And the chance to design and sell an exclusive collection at Lord & Taylor.
01:42And the model paired with the winner of Project Runway will win a fashion spread in Marie Claire Magazine
01:47and $25,000 from Laurel Paris Advanced Hair Care.
01:51I hate the button bag coming out.
02:17I have no idea what fate is going to bring.
02:20Hello, designers.
02:24Welcome back to the runway.
02:25Bye.
02:27I know that you're all wondering why we called you back here tonight.
02:31Now we feel like it's time to change things up a little bit.
02:36We would like for you to work in smaller groups.
02:39And we would like for you to choose your design partners.
02:43So in making these decisions, think about who will compliment you.
02:47Think about a true partner who will allow you to raise the bar for the level of work that you're executing.
02:53Samantha.
02:55You are the winner of the last challenge, which means you get to choose your partner first.
02:59Who is it going to be?
03:01It's going to be Daniel.
03:03Cool.
03:04I think we both like structures.
03:06It'll be cool.
03:07Yes.
03:08I'm going to choose the next name from the button bag.
03:10Richard.
03:11Who do you choose?
03:12Stanley.
03:13Hey.
03:14I didn't even second guess anything.
03:15I was like, I want Stanley.
03:16Our vibe is great together.
03:17Our energies are great together.
03:19Oh, God.
03:20Who do you choose?
03:21Who do you choose?
03:22Diana.
03:23Matt.
03:24Oh, Lord.
03:25Michelle.
03:26Oh, this is going to be a party.
03:27Kate.
03:28Two.
03:29Amanda and Benjamin.
03:30That means you two are the last team.
03:32I don't know a lot about Amanda, but pretty much all of her team threw her under the bus.
03:35That leaves me a little bit worried about who I've been paired with.
03:51It is becoming increasingly important for each of you to make sure that your voice is heard.
03:56I'm going to meet you tomorrow morning and tell you about your next challenge, all right?
04:01Exciting.
04:02Yeah, very exciting.
04:03So congratulations to our new teams.
04:05Bye, guys.
04:06Bye.
04:07Bye.
04:19It's early morning and we're at a bar and it's called Johnny Utah's.
04:23It reminds me of Austin.
04:24I felt right at home.
04:28Good morning, designers, and welcome to Johnny Utah's.
04:31We wanted to get you out of the work room and into a country western frame of mind, so
04:35to speak.
04:36Ooh.
04:37Because for this challenge, you're designing for one of country music's biggest stars.
04:42No, I ain't nobody's baby.
04:45Miranda Lambert.
04:46Oh, my God.
04:47Oh, my God.
04:48There she is.
04:49Well, I told you I was crazy.
04:51And I got the angle of forgiveness or something.
04:55Wow.
04:56I might just do well at this challenge.
04:58That's amazing.
04:59All right.
05:00Oh, yes.
05:01Each team will be designing two looks for Miranda.
05:04A performance look and a red carpet look.
05:07Each team will have a dossier containing looks that Miranda has worn in the past.
05:11For the performance look, Miranda wants something that's a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll.
05:18And for the red carpet look, think chic, think young, think fresh.
05:22She doesn't want something that's overly designed.
05:25Also, she loves her curves, so think about those curves and really celebrate them.
05:31Each team is responsible for the two looks, but how you divide the work is completely up to the team.
05:37These looks do not have to offer anything in the way of cohesion.
05:41And your 30 minutes to consult as a team and a sketch begins right now.
05:48The thing is, my thing a lot of the time is red carpet.
05:53Totally.
05:54We quickly decide that Ben is going to do the red carpet look.
05:57He's really comfortable with evening wear, and I'm going to do a more casual performance look.
06:02I know what you were wearing the other day with that fringe dress.
06:04Totally.
06:05Ben says, remember that outfit you were wearing the other day?
06:08I kind of like that vibe.
06:09So we talk about a fringe skirt, which I will put fringe on anything, anytime, any day.
06:14I noticed she had that strapless dress that had the points that went higher.
06:18Yeah.
06:19Kind of like that.
06:20That was flattering.
06:21Yeah, that was very flattering.
06:22I want her to come out like American woman.
06:24You know what I'm saying?
06:25Like, like rock goddess.
06:27All right, designers, let's head off the mood.
06:30Okay.
06:35All right, designers, time is up.
06:37Maybe I should take something off.
06:38I want to get a t-shirt.
06:40Maybe I should take something off.
06:41Maybe I should take something off.
06:42Maybe I should take something off.
06:43I want to get a t-shirt.
06:45Maybe I should try.
06:46I want her to come crazy.
06:47I like her.
06:48All right, designers, time is up.
06:52I need to take something off.
06:53I want to get a t-shirt.
07:01Challenge today is to create a performance look
07:05and a red carpet look for country star Miranda Lambert.
07:12Superstar, country and western star, Miranda Lambert.
07:18I am so excited.
07:22Life feels so different now.
07:24Is it? Life feels?
07:25Not in groups.
07:26Oh, yeah.
07:27So for this challenge, we're working in pairs.
07:30It's a little more up close and personal and in your face,
07:33so I'm really nervous about it.
07:39Yes!
07:42How is everyone?
07:44Good.
07:45Well, I'm here to check in with you.
07:46One thing I want to underscore is you are teams.
07:50The team on the top will have the winning designer.
07:54The team on the bottom will have the designer who goes home.
07:57You can have the most stunning look on that runway.
08:00If you're paired with a stink pot, it doesn't matter.
08:04Not that I think there are any stink pots in this room.
08:06Yeah.
08:07All right, well, I'm going to have a look around.
08:09Hi.
08:09Hi, so how are you both?
08:12We're having a blast.
08:13Yeah, I think they're doing really well.
08:15So I thought it would be really neat to make a leather motorcycle vest.
08:21It's going to be very fitted.
08:22I'm using leather and suede, and I'm adding all the details to the side.
08:27I wanted the skirt to have the movements when she jumps up and down.
08:30I'm going to, like, go with her.
08:32All right, well, I like the counterpoint of all the tailoring on top to this softer, more exuberant skirt.
08:38Okay.
08:39Okay.
08:40I'm doing the red carpet.
08:41Okay.
08:41What I decided to do is do, you know, the long dress.
08:45But what I did was I found this really cool...
08:47What is this?
08:48It's leather.
08:49This is leather?
08:49Well, I made strips, and I paint it, and I ruched it, and sewed it on the strip to do, like, a soutache technique.
08:56So how are you using it?
08:57I'm putting it all over the bodice.
08:59Wow.
08:59How are Liana and Patricia?
09:01I'm doing the red carpet look.
09:03Okay.
09:03I'm a little concerned now about the time.
09:06What are you doing?
09:07Because I'm doing ruching here, and it takes a little bit of time.
09:11This will be covered with chiffon, and then it's fitted and flared.
09:14What's the back like?
09:15The back is ruched.
09:16This is all ruched.
09:17I actually like the keyhole.
09:19All right.
09:19Feels modern.
09:20Let's look at Patricia's, because I want to hear about your textile.
09:23Sure.
09:24Okay.
09:24So why did you choose this textile?
09:26First of all, let's start off what this is.
09:29These are going to be bullet holsters, and then in here is going to be twisted leather.
09:35So that when she moves, you see the hint of the gold.
09:37Got it.
09:38That's cool.
09:38And you see the hint of the brown.
09:40Well, I've got to hand it to you, Patricia.
09:41You're not boring.
09:42Okay.
09:43I mean, it's very innovative.
09:45Right.
09:45Hi, Kate.
09:46Hi, too.
09:46I'm doing the red carpet look.
09:48Okay.
09:49She likes corsets, but I lowered it with two suggestions, really, and made it more of a mermaid silhouette.
09:57Mm-hmm.
09:58Let's talk about your look.
10:00Yes.
10:00Then come back to Kate.
10:01I'm making a performance look for her, a skirt and a top.
10:06The skirt, there is three panel on the side to make she look more curvy.
10:10More curvy?
10:11Yes, like a little bit more curvy.
10:12Yes.
10:13Like a little bit more curvy.
10:14Really?
10:15You mean to like accentuate?
10:16Yes.
10:17Yes.
10:18Something like that.
10:19And like...
10:20That's the side of her?
10:21Yes.
10:22She's going to come out like...
10:23You've got her coming out here and coming out here, so you're exaggerating all these shapes.
10:28Okay.
10:29So you really gaga-ized her.
10:32Yeah.
10:33Wow.
10:34So what if...
10:49Okay.
10:49Ooh.
10:50So what if...
10:51Okay, so two.
10:54How about this?
10:55What if you go back to your original skirt with all your layering, but it'll be flat?
11:01Layering but it'll be flat. I'm on Kate's side if you can use these
11:07Construction elements if they're fitted then they'll work. Okay, but if they're all
11:13Filled with helium. She's gonna look like a cartoon. Yeah. All right. Thank you. Thank you team
11:20So how are your gentlemen? I'm doing the red carpet look
11:23I was trying to infuse a little bit of that rock glamour into her look so I found this it's beautiful
11:29Yeah, it's gorgeous but that mid piece being there is gonna have a really strong focal point
11:34It's just gonna be gorgeous. I believe so Richard talk to me about your look. I chose this mesh just because
11:41Being on stage. I'm sure she'll be sweating a lot. So this is all hand-done because I know it is
11:47You have a fabulous idea happening. What's underneath it though?
11:51Nothing cuz all this is it here. See it's all sewn down so it covers all this. Well
11:55It does not a lot of cover-up. I mean that meshes skirt skins gonna show mm-hmm
12:04All right, you gentlemen know what you're doing. Yes, thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you Amanda and Ben
12:09How are you? I'm doing the performance look okay, so I knew that I definitely wanted to do a hand-cut
12:16Fringe skirt. This is great. It's so fun. Yeah, so I've kind of transitioned
12:21Let me show you I love the idea of like a full dress out of this fringe. Oh, so and think of the movement
12:27Oh, it just would be gorgeous. Why don't you do it? Just cover it with just do it. Okay?
12:31I'm going to now's my mom good
12:33All right, Ben, what are you up to underneath here? I've got the entire course that already done
12:37Wow stood and the underskirt is attached to it. So my whole structure is finished Wow
12:41I'm sure if I'm actually me exactly how great and I feel like all of a sudden
12:46I've just struck gold in myself and I'm both of you have this is really great. All right. Thank you both
12:51Thank you
12:53So how are Michelle and Matt? I'm doing red carpet. Okay, I found this
12:59Wrinkled leather is it it's leather. Oh this looks like eel. I know it's pretty cool
13:05And what about your look I was doing this leather and lace inspired rock-and-roll moment
13:10I mean, I love the piece that you've done here on that runway with the lights gonna be hard to see
13:14I don't think I don't know how much of that detail is going to show up and I know how much work it is and have
13:19What's the what's the skirt like? I'm still deciding. I don't know if I want to do some sort of form-fitting skirt
13:25Like a mini or if I want to do something with volume. Those are two
13:32Polarities I know
13:34I'm working it out in my head
13:37I just want you to really believe in what you're doing. I mean, you're incredibly talented. You're here for goodness sake
13:42I know I'm trying to remind myself that and you've got a great partner. Oh, yeah. She's amazing. They're amazing
13:48You are you are Matt is having a lack of confidence. Let's hope that Tim's pep talk works
13:53Because right now Matt's in a kind of a hard place
13:59All right design teams, I have to tell you I'm really excited. I think Miranda Lambert's gonna be very happy
14:05Yeah, so we'll have a great runway show tomorrow. I will see you in the morning work hard. I know you will
14:20Breathe in we still have a lot of detailing today. Oh my gosh fits you actually really well
14:25I don't really know what Richard's doing not having the lining is it's crucial because the model can't go down the runway naked
14:35So is there fringe here? I'm doing like the main pieces and then I'm gonna fill in I'm a little bit nervous about this fringe
14:46Which is super super tedious. I can get a little ahead of myself
14:50Sometimes I kind of have an overachiever family. It's just out of control brother. He's a rock star
14:57So I spent most of my adolescence feeling a little bit in the shadows
15:02I just want my family to say like you did it
15:12That's good. Where's your skirt though, babe? I'm about to start
15:17I'm really concerned because my garments almost complete and Matt barely has a top finished
15:24I'm so sorry. I'm just worried. We'll be in the bottom and it's a 50-50 chance. I will be going home
15:32Coming up on project runway. Oh, I have no time left. There's nothing else I can do
15:40We have a model who still isn't dressed. I'm sweating bullets and my palms are just drenched
15:51Bye atlas
16:02Good morning designers
16:05Designers you have two hours to send your models to the L'oreal Paris hair and makeup rooms and to prep them for the runway
16:12Use the Lord and Taylor wall very thoughtfully. Thank you very much. I'll see you later
16:17See you later
16:24There's still no lining so I'm thinking what am I gonna do? What am I gonna do? What am I gonna do?
16:28And then I reached in my bag to pull something out and my mood t-shirts on the top
16:33Then I realized I used a part of the budget to pay for that mood t-shirt. So guess what?
16:37I think I might have found my lining I
16:40I cut the logo up and off of the shirt and then I used Stanley's turned it upside down cut his off
16:48Voila the tube dress is born like the shirt says. Thank you mood
16:57I would like the hair up in kind of a rocker vibe. Gwen Stefani-esque. Yes. I want sorority hair
17:03Country music hair. Country music. Big way the hair close to God. Exactly. Put some volumizing loose on it. Make it nice and mid
17:10Give her smokey eyes
17:15Downplay the lips off. Light like flesh color gloss. Beautiful. Definitely. And hotter up. Yes
17:25I like getting mad dash right now
17:27Matt and I are working frantically on a skirt getting the hem right pressing throwing a zipper in look at me
17:35It looks really cute on her
17:37You just never know you just have to try your hardest try to be as relevant as you can
17:41Oh, that fits you good
17:45Girl, you look great
17:47Designers and models
17:48We're going down to the runway at Parsons everyone. All right. Follow me, please
17:55All right, that's it
17:57Hello
18:07As you know in fashion one day you're in and the next day you're out
18:14There are 12 of you here and after tonight there will be 11 for this challenge
18:18We changed the team structure you worked in pairs and you were able to choose your design partners
18:23One member from the winning team will be the winner of this challenge and one member from the losing team will be out
18:30We asked each team to create two looks a performance look and a red carpet look for one of the biggest country music stars
18:37Miranda Lambert, okay, let's meet the judges first. We have acclaimed American designer is Zack Posen
18:43Hi
18:45fashion director for mericlera magazine Nina Garcia
18:47Hi, everyone
18:49And our very special guest judge grammy award-winning recording artist Miranda Lambert
18:55Hi, welcome
18:57We will score your designs as they come down the runway. Let's start the show
19:02Look at my little Miranda. She looks so hot
19:20My model looks really comfortable and she looks like she's just having fun. So I feel great
19:27It's just beautiful and I'm so happy it looks like it could be straight off a European runway
19:46It's perfect really really ecstatic
19:48The chair and the curb she look really nice
20:02I'm glad you got to add the stuff she looked like a star and I hope that Brenda gonna like it
20:11I
20:13I
20:15Love it. I think it turned out beautiful and edgy and sexy and everything I had set out for this dress to be
20:32I'm really really happy
20:34My look actually looks pretty cool. I feel as though it
20:42Was what I wanted in the complete look and I'm feeling comfortable with it
20:51That's cool. I'm glad you took that last rubble off really
20:55Yeah
20:56Oh my god, she looks breathtaking. It looks like she can go from the county fair hoedown to red carpet
21:08I like this curtain
21:15I'm really happy me and Sam are both happy
21:17I realized that this is really simple really short
21:28I just love the piece work that you did on that top
21:35Maybe they just want basic and simple
21:37I like actually be safe
21:38I love my look. It's really cool. It's really different. I love my mix of leather. The vest is really rockin
21:57She looks awesome. I want to hang out with this girl. That's always the goal
22:00I am so happy. It turned out really nice
22:15Great, my face up
22:17This dress shows her nice curves and she can move around in it and she's beautiful. She looks great
22:23She's classic. I love it. It's so beautiful and classy and romantic but I'm a little disappointed that you cannot really see the detailing that goes on the bustier
22:42I wish I could give it a little more of the glitz and glamour look that Miranda likes
22:47She looks like a rock goddess. She looks amazing. I don't even know what to say. It was everything. Yeah.
23:11I am so surprised everything is working for me
23:29I don't know what happened to then the transition from the workroom to the runway but she looks gorgeous
23:33If I call your name, please step forward
23:42Patricia and Liana
23:47Kate and two
23:52If I've called your name, congratulations. Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next round. You can leave the runway
24:01Thank you
24:10The rest of you have the highest and the lowest scores
24:13One or more of you will be the winner of this challenge
24:17And one of you will be out
24:18Richard and Stanley
24:24Richard and Stanley
24:26Amanda, Benjamin
24:28Your teams have the highest scores
24:30Yes!
24:32Finally!
24:34Daniel and Samantha
24:36Matt and Michelle
24:38Your teams have the lower scores
24:39We're going to talk to the teams with the higher scores first and then I'm going to bring you back out. You can leave the runway
24:52Stanley and Richard, tell us about your looks
24:55I did the performance piece. I just hand cut all the fringe because I wanted the silver to catch the light but the black to allow the movement
25:01I made it a little bit longer that way it doesn't make it seem trashy. I love that you can move in the dress. I think it's really smart that you thought about performance and movement. They think it sparkles and then if you can turn to the side, more of the body is exposed on the back.
25:18It looks expensive. I think also because of the amount of leather that you used. I don't know. It looks like a real cool dress.
25:24Miranda has beautiful curves and this is a dress that really plays up on her curves.
25:31It's something I would actually wear. I'd probably built it. And on stage, you know, you don't want to be too short, especially if the stage is really high. That's a different kind of show than I usually like to put on.
25:41It's really a good length if you can wear it with heels or boots. It really stood out in the crowd for me.
25:48Stanley, tell us about your look.
25:49I decided to go with something a little more pretty, just chiffon and Georgette. And this is a hammered foil paillette. I wanted something to look young, fresh, pretty and comfortable and, you know, look good in photographs.
26:01I think it's great. I mean, I love the plunging neckline that makes me look longer. The bottom half is a lot of fabric for me. I usually go a little bit less fabric just because I am curvy and I don't want to add too much.
26:11But I think that hammered foil that you said, I think it adds a little bit of a rock edge, but it's so beautiful. It's definitely something that I would wear for sure.
26:20I think it's a beautiful dress. I just don't know if it is perfect for Miranda. I think she would be swallowed up by all that pleating.
26:28I think we all would be intimidated wearing that because you're all of a sudden, but I think it looks beautiful, cinched in, and I love the plunging neckline. Sexy.
26:38How did the two of you work as a team?
26:39I love this guy, so it's just, you know, just a perfect hat.
26:41We're the Wonder Twins.
26:42Yeah.
26:43Benjamin and Amanda, tell us about your looks.
26:45So I went with the red carpet. I wanted to present Miss Lambert with something that was super chic because that is generally my style as a designer.
26:53One thing that I like to do is to eliminate side seams and to work quite three-dimensionally, and I wanted to just really build a firm structure.
27:01How elegant and beautiful is this dress?
27:04Thank you. That means so much to hear that from you.
27:06It looks absolutely gorgeous from every angle.
27:10The styling's really nice. I like how soft her hair looks down and swept away and a natural element to it. Good choices on her overall look.
27:19I don't know that the fabric on me would be super forgiving. It doesn't look like I could squeeze a spank under that very easily.
27:27I have to say, I actually quite liked it for you. It's nice that it doesn't have any seams. I'm very excited to see something like that coming from you.
27:35I've been really excited to show it.
27:37Yeah, because I don't think that the back will make it necessarily look bigger. Show us again from the side.
27:43It's got the support. It's streamlined. It's clean. It's very elegant. With your curves, you're going to rock this dress.
27:51Well, hell, let's do it. I'll try it.
27:55Amanda, tell us about your look.
27:56I thought a lot about Nashville when I was putting this together and I got kind of homesick.
28:01Nashville has a lot of dichotomies. There's an ease to the way we all dress, but there's always some kind of powerful element.
28:08But you are such an established star. I kind of wanted to do this classic diva, but still playful.
28:14So I was just kind of testing the angles. And actually, she is wearing a normal bra and the back is open without any risk of falling over.
28:23I think this piece is really cool. And I love that it kind of goes down, so it draws her out of the middle. It has shape to it.
28:29It's definitely, again, something I would really wear. And I love the normal bra idea. That's really helpful.
28:33And stay jumping around to know that there's no accidents.
28:36I love the easiness of this dress. And I think it's a dress that can easily be accessorized. It's great.
28:42How was it working together as a team for you?
28:44I think it worked out well.
28:45I think it worked out well.
28:46Just really honest. So, yeah, it worked well. Yeah.
28:49Okay, we've heard what you had to say. Now we're going to talk to the team with the lowest scores. You can leave the runway. Thank you.
29:02Okay, Matt and Michelle, please tell us about your looks.
29:05I don't do a whole lot of glitz and glamour, so I kind of took it a little more rock and roll, like MTV Music Awards.
29:11I automatically was like, ugh, leather. You know, nice open neckline, big fringe necklace, fit and flare, stretched denim for casual ease, but still kind of rocker.
29:23I think if Miranda would hit the red carpet in this head-to-toe look, she would definitely go on the worst dress list.
29:29Okay.
29:30I think the necklace just really distracts me. It's like I want to look around it so I can see the top.
29:35But I would probably wear it with either a short leather skirt or some cool skinny jeans and boots.
29:40I understand what you mean about the vest, but we're not here to pick it apart and how you could make it better.
29:46And then she has this shredded bib hanging over the vest. And talking about MTV, I mean, they have a lot of fun.
29:52I think this is fun. It's a giant fringe necklace. That sounds fun to me.
29:57From afar, it just looks like she had linguine.
30:00Oh, okay.
30:01I agree that the vest has a cool texture to it, but the skirt to me feels too casual for red carpet.
30:08Let's have a look from the back again. The fit is not bad. I mean, the back I like better than the front.
30:14I love the back of it. It works for me.
30:16The front is messy. It's really sexy, but you can't see it.
30:19That's such an improvement.
30:21Oh, I love the necklace. I'm sorry.
30:23It looks a little bit like Rock of Ages, ACDC.
30:26I love that too. Sorry.
30:28I'm sorry.
30:29That's what I listen to.
30:30It just doesn't look current and it just looks very dated.
30:34Not good rock and roll, but the bad rock and roll.
30:37The one that we want to forget.
30:39You should never forget hair metal.
30:41Well, at least she's not losing her fire. She's still hanging in there.
30:44I mean, I love it and as long, you know.
30:47It's not Metallica.
30:48Right.
30:49But she's got rock. I mean, look at her.
30:51There's an element to it that I think you did try to capture my personality and I do appreciate that.
30:56Awesome.
30:57I don't like the skirt either though.
30:59Oh, it's my turn.
31:00Yes, it is your turn.
31:02I had an idea for this like leather and lace, but patchwork lace.
31:06I really wanted to do color, but time management issue.
31:09Is it two pieces?
31:10It's two pieces.
31:11How did the points on her hips stay down?
31:14These?
31:15Okay.
31:16You know, I see that you put a lot of detail into this, especially from the back.
31:20There are like wings and things, but you don't see it.
31:23For a stage performer, they need something that we all want to say, wow.
31:28You can make bolder gestures in your clothing and it will be more effective for you.
31:33Just like in the last challenge, I felt like you stuck to really bold choices and went for it and the graphic elements really worked for you.
31:42You know, this is a performance. You've covered her in black. You've given her no shine. You've given her little movement. It's unfortunate.
31:50Okay.
31:51You're cool as . I'm sorry.
31:53Okay.
31:54This is not how I view you.
31:55You know what? I don't even want to talk about it because you obviously know what's wrong with it.
31:59I just want to talk about you not having confidence in your own craft because if you don't have confidence in your craft, then no one else can.
32:06This is true.
32:07Even she, we were like hammering her and she was like, I still love it. I love ACDC. She's confident. You've got to find that, dude.
32:14Thanks for thinking I'm cool though.
32:16You are cool.
32:17Daniel, Samantha, tell us about your looks.
32:20For the top, this is leather and I cut the strips and I ruched it and put it on the binding and then did like the sutash all over the top.
32:28And then when on the bottom, I went ahead and just frayed it and distressed it almost like denim and then did the cuttings on it.
32:33I like the idea of this because it's a top and a skirt.
32:35I had no idea that was leather.
32:37Yes.
32:38I would like it a lot better if I could tell that it was leather.
32:40From far away, it looks kind of like tinfoil crumpled up.
32:43Yeah.
32:44I feel like it's somebody's interpretation of what they think a country star would wear.
32:47It's not red carpet worthy.
32:49Having a shirt and a skirt, I like that element, but I wouldn't wear the shirt or the skirt at this point.
32:55I do agree with Miranda.
32:57It looks inexpensive.
32:59Okay.
33:00I think it looks cross between a tablecloth and a napkin.
33:04And I absolutely hate that seam in the middle.
33:09That looks very inexpensive and I am so surprised that you would present this.
33:14Really, so surprised.
33:16It's just, I don't know where this came from.
33:19You just got officially yelled at by Nina.
33:22She looks like a beauty patron with the hair, the whole thing is just bad.
33:28Okay.
33:29You know, I'm getting a little nervous with you.
33:31You obviously have the technique and craft, but I need to see it evolve.
33:35The pieces I've seen from you are starting to look very referential.
33:39Got it.
33:40And are starting to look a little bit old.
33:41I'm sure you put a lot of work into it and it doesn't fit her in a bad way.
33:46The top does.
33:47It fits her in a bad way?
33:48Yeah.
33:49I don't think it's flattering.
33:51Yeah, this texture definitely adds weight.
33:53And if that adds weight to her, I'm screwed.
33:56Thank you, Daniel.
33:57Okay.
33:58So I went with the performance look and I took more of your rocker elements because I'm a
34:04Jamaican girl.
34:05I didn't think I could do country.
34:06So I used leather and suede and did like motorcycle stitching on the side.
34:10That's where I came up with my design.
34:13Samantha, you have immunity, right?
34:15I do, but I didn't want to come up here.
34:17I really didn't want to design something that was like boom, boom, boom.
34:20But still, lucky you.
34:21I didn't want to like be in this position, so.
34:24I just want more wow.
34:26So I like what you're wearing and I think that's a cute performance outfit.
34:30I would wear your outfit before I'd wear the one that you designed for me.
34:34Of course.
34:35Because it's awesome.
34:36My style is sometimes scary to people, so like.
34:38There's nothing worse to me in the world than designers who make clothing that is so far away from who they are or how they dress.
34:46Sorry.
34:47Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
34:49Gonna have a little chat.
34:51Let's talk about the designers with a higher scores.
34:58Amanda and Benjamin.
34:59I love Amanda's dress.
35:01You can dress it up.
35:02You can dress it down.
35:03She could wear it on stage and really amp up the accessorizing.
35:06I would buy it if I saw it in a store right now.
35:08And I'm very happy for her because she almost got last week and here she is, you know, with a dress that we all love.
35:15Benjamin, he did a great job too.
35:17I love this dress.
35:18I think it's very elegant.
35:20It will really accentuate Miranda's figure.
35:23It's one of those timeless dresses.
35:26I thought it was clean.
35:27I thought it was chic.
35:28I liked that he felt like he presented a dress that finally represented who he was.
35:33Let's talk about Richard and Stanley.
35:35I preferred Richard's over Stanley's.
35:38It feels a little more rock and roll than country, but it works.
35:42It works.
35:43Yeah.
35:44I thought Richard's was really cool.
35:45Richard's was really cool.
35:46Yeah.
35:47I do.
35:48I do like the plunging neckline of Stanley's dress.
35:51I just really have to have the fullness of the skirt really taken down.
35:56Yeah.
35:57And there was some fit issues in the bust for such a clean dress.
36:00It should fit like perfection.
36:02But then again, they did it in a day.
36:04Yeah.
36:05Which is always really impressive.
36:06Yeah.
36:07Let's talk about the designers that we didn't like so much.
36:10Let's start with Michelle.
36:11I really question Michelle's taste.
36:13She really seemed to love this 80s vibe.
36:16That scared me.
36:17There was at least one piece in there where you can say, okay.
36:21What I'm saying is the overall taste.
36:24Yeah.
36:25I'm not sure if it is there.
36:26Yeah.
36:27She has a spark to her that's interesting.
36:28We're looking for people who have strong points of view.
36:30Yeah.
36:31Whether it's good taste is very questionable.
36:34Let's talk about Matt.
36:35I don't know.
36:36He always seemed quite stylish himself in a way.
36:39He should have just gone, okay, I totally lost it.
36:41Here's what my plan was.
36:42Because I still in a weird way do believe that he can do better than that.
36:47The way he carries himself and the way he puts himself together.
36:51He has good taste.
36:52Deep down, we all think that there's more to him than what we've seen so far.
36:56But do we want to give him another shot?
36:58I don't know.
36:59Let's talk about Daniel.
37:01I mean, that was not cool what he's done for you.
37:04It looks cheap.
37:05It's not sophisticated at all.
37:07That's not good.
37:08It just was a very big disappointment from Daniel.
37:12It's like, who designed this?
37:14That's how I felt.
37:15I was shocked.
37:16I think he was shocked too because he thought he created something amazing here.
37:20He might be amazing.
37:21He might not be cool.
37:24Samantha has immunity.
37:26She could have done whatever she wanted.
37:28This is the first barometer of their real taste.
37:31Before they've worked in teams of five, this is the first time that we really see them work on their own.
37:38So we've made our decision.
37:40Okay, let's bring them back out.
37:43The eight of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
37:50One of you will be the winner of this challenge.
37:55And one of you will be out.
37:58Miranda, would you like to tell us who the winner is?
37:59Yes.
38:00The winner of this challenge is Richard.
38:01Yes!
38:02Yes!
38:03Yes!
38:04Yes!
38:05I'm excited!
38:06And if it's okay with you, I would love to wear your dress in one of my upcoming videos.
38:08Yes!
38:09Yes!
38:10Yes!
38:11Yes!
38:12Yes!
38:13Yes!
38:14Yes!
38:15Yes!
38:16Yes!
38:17Yes!
38:18Yes!
38:19Yes!
38:20I'm so excited!
38:21And if it's okay with you, I would love to wear your dress in one of my upcoming performances.
38:34Of course!
38:35Okay!
38:36Yes!
38:37Finally!
38:38So cool.
38:39Stanley, we also loved your look.
38:41You're both in.
38:42You can leave the runway.
38:43Finally, I won that challenge.
38:44I'm very happy.
38:45Yeah!
38:46Hi, Ron!
38:47Thank you!
38:48It's very nice.
38:49Great feeling.
38:50And a couple more challenges to knock out, though.
38:52Amanda, Benjamin, you're both in.
38:53You can leave the runway.
38:57Nice great feeling and a couple more challenges to knock out though
39:03Amanda Benjamin you're both in you can use the runway. Thank you
39:14Samantha you have immunity today. That means you're in
39:18Thank you
39:23Daniel Matt Michelle one of you will be out
39:29Matt you clearly lost your way you tell us that you're a very creative designer, but we haven't seen that here
39:37Daniel we're very disappointed in your look today your outfit looked cheap and dated
39:44Michelle your look was to 80s rock for us
39:48And some of us really question your taste
39:54Matt
39:59I'm sorry you're out
40:05Afira zi Matt
40:08All the best to you. Thank you. Thank you guys
40:12I'm kind of upset. I've never seen anything come out of me that looks so sad
40:16And I'm upset that I didn't believe in myself. I know and I don't know why
40:21I'm out
40:33I deserve it. I deserve it
40:37Michelle
40:40Daniel you're in
40:42You can eat the runway
40:44Thank you
40:46Thank you. Thank you. Thank you
40:52Hey, Tim
40:54We're good. The only thing that disappoints me more than you're leaving is the fact that I feel it was a self-fulfilled prophecy on your part
41:01I self-sabotage. So now I have to send you the workroom to clean up your space. We're gonna miss you. Thank you, Tim
41:10I'm so proud of myself for trying because my old self would have come up with an excuse why I couldn't come
41:16Ever since I've gotten here. I've seen a new level of
41:21Strength and the thing I think I have to remind myself is me just showing out with a clear head is definitely
41:26Winning for me. It's definitely me going in the right direction
41:33Next time on project runway for this challenge these fabulous women are your new clients and models
41:40I want a celebration out of that
41:46I got goosed
41:48You're looking at me like I'm crazy. I could feel the spiral begin damn
41:5290% of what she does is crap. Whoa is me. This isn't good
41:58Show them bitch. Don't be a fool. Looks like it's for a child. You haven't got a clue in hell who you're designing for is all his fault
42:22You
