Gaya, Bihar – The death of 30-year-old Sub-Inspector Anuj Kashyap has sent shockwaves through the Bihar Police force. Anuj, a 2019-batch officer posted in Gaya, was found hanging in his rented house in Mohan Nagar, just 300 meters from the SP’s residence.
According to police, Anuj’s colleagues discovered his body on the morning of August 8 after repeated calls went unanswered. Forensic and FSL teams have seized his mobile phone for technical analysis, with investigators examining call logs and chats for clues.
Anuj’s father, Bhavnath Mishra, has accused female Sub-Inspector Sweety Kumari — his son’s batchmate from training — of relentless harassment and pressuring him to leave his pregnant wife and marry her. He claims the pressure had been ongoing for six months, driving his son into depression.
Anuj, married in May 2022, leaves behind a wife in Delhi who is five months pregnant and preparing for the UPSC exam. His father has demanded a CBI inquiry and strict legal action against Sweety Kumari, alleging her role in his son’s death.
Rampur Police have registered a murder case against Sweety Kumari, and the investigation is ongoing.
