01:30No, I know.
01:30In the beginning, it's all fun,
01:33and doing like this is getting real.
01:35It's getting real real.
01:36I hear heels.
01:37I hear heels.
01:40Hello.
01:41Oh, Lord.
01:42It's you again.
01:43I'm not sure.
01:44All right.
01:44I'm going to keep it brief.
01:46Mmm.
01:47The seven of you are the best of the best.
01:50I'm scared.
01:51I do.
01:52For your next challenge,
01:54this is a Project Runway first.
01:56Oh, God.
01:57Let me take my shoes back off.
01:58You've earned the right
02:00to make whatever the hell you want.
02:02Are you serious?
02:03Yes!
02:04Okay.
02:09You're welcome.
02:10You're welcome.
02:11Oh, my God.
02:12Total freedom.
02:13Make what you want
02:15to move one step closer to the finale.
02:19This is a two-day challenge.
02:21Yay!
02:24So it better be good.
02:26Yes.
02:27All right.
02:27You guys can sketch tomorrow morning at the hotel
02:30and meet me at Mood when you're done.
02:32And one more thing.
02:33Okay.
02:34In honor of your newfound challenge of freedom,
02:38you guys are going to get to show your looks
02:41at one of the most beautiful,
02:43most sought-after location in the city.
02:46Franklin D. Roosevelt for Freedoms State Park.
02:50Oh, my God.
02:52Oh, my God.
02:53You can see it's outside,
02:54and you're showing rain or shine.
02:56Okay.
02:56There's a variety of models.
02:58Okay.
02:59And Bishmi, as the winner of the last challenge,
03:02you get first pick.
03:05All right, y'all.
03:06Um, I love who she is, Jessica.
03:09Yeah.
03:10Okay.
03:11She's good.
03:12All right, I'm going to leave these here for you guys to figure out.
03:15I'll see you tomorrow.
03:16Good night.
03:17Good.
03:18I don't know about y'all.
03:19It's been a long day.
03:21But it's time to go, y'all.
03:23Thank God.
03:24It's time to be ourselves, though.
03:25Woo!
03:26Hey.
03:27Hey.
03:28Hey.
03:29Hey.
03:30Hey.
03:31Hey, y'all.
03:32Good morning.
03:33We overslept a little bit.
03:34Sorry.
03:35It's okay.
03:36Thanks.
03:37I'm happy to be free with the sister circle, though.
03:38I'm ready.
03:39Hello.
03:40You have three strong black women together.
03:43We're so supportive of each other.
03:46We are the sister circle.
03:48So, besides the challenge, what is freedom to you?
03:51The freedom to be me is a gift.
03:53You know, I'm 47, separated now from my husband,
03:56and I'm living a different life.
03:58And I do feel like a different sense of freedom.
04:01What are you guys thinking for, like, the challenge?
04:04Like, what do you think about it?
04:05I think it's dope.
04:06For me, like, being a gay black man,
04:08especially where I come from,
04:09I think the more you're able to, like,
04:10stand behind who you are
04:12and showcase who you are and be confident in it,
04:14the more you're able to allow other people to be free.
04:17I've been judged just because of the color of my skin.
04:20People think I would end up joining the gang, selling drugs.
04:24I have the right to choose my destiny.
04:27Being a fashion designer,
04:28it's my way of celebrating freedom.
04:31Being Haitian and being in this country,
04:32I've realized there's so many different things
04:34that we take for granted.
04:36Like, I've seen dead bodies lined up on the street.
04:39I had a gun in my head by the army as a child,
04:42and now my kid can't even leave her house
04:44because she just might get kidnapped.
04:46So freedom means everything.
04:48And in the real world, like, that's what it's about.
04:51I feel like these are, you know, kind of like sobering moments
04:54where we kind of get to be a little bit more intimate with each other
04:57and perhaps start to understand each other a little bit better
05:01and how we became the people that we are today.
05:04Here's some pens to sketch.
05:06You have the freedom to choose whatever color you need.
05:09So for this challenge, I am mixing fashion and activewear.
05:15I want it to be a bralette and a top combined.
05:18I definitely know I want some, like, cargo-inspired pants
05:21and a really cool athletic jacket.
05:24I'm sketching this as if I've already made it.
05:26One thing that when you see, you know it's me, it's a robe.
05:29So definitely making a robe.
05:31I want to do a sweater as well as a great pair of pants.
05:34I'm going to show me 100%.
05:36All right, you guys, it's freedom day.
05:38Let's all get to mood.
05:39Yes.
05:46Hi, guys.
05:47So freedom to make whatever you want.
05:51Nice.
05:52But just remember, do you, don't lose who you are,
05:5630 minutes to shop, $750.
06:00That's a lot.
06:01That's good.
06:02You ready?
06:03Mm-hmm.
06:04All right, go.
06:05It's going to go quick.
06:06Print is on the other side, right?
06:08Other side.
06:09This will hurt.
06:11It will look like an evening gown,
06:13but basically it will be a two-piece of top and a skirt.
06:15Being told that I have full freedom to do whatever I want,
06:19as a Palestinian, it's quite big because that's something
06:22that we are on a daily basis deprived of.
06:25So I want to create a design that mimics freedom of flow
06:28of light silky fabrics that showcases my love for draping.
06:34I'm envisioning something that's Oscar worthy.
06:38That's too expensive.
06:40This is lavender.
06:41It matches my fabric.
06:43I'm so excited for this challenge.
06:45My design, it's going to be whimsical.
06:47It's going to be fairytale.
06:49I feel very Easter.
06:50You said do me.
06:51I'm doing me.
06:52I'm going to do 15 minutes.
06:54Wow.
06:55It went fast.
06:56Good.
06:57I got to get home for lunch.
06:58You said we could do anything, right, Christian?
07:00Where you at?
07:01Excuse me, sir.
07:04What are you going to make?
07:05I'm making a gown.
07:06I first sketched out this gown.
07:08I know for sure I want to create something
07:10with a ruffle bottom and a jacket with a hat
07:14that has a free-flowing type of feel with it.
07:18Oh, so now you're going chocolate brown?
07:20I have a game plan.
07:22Oh, my God. I love you.
07:23Well, Laurence, I'll meet you in leather
07:25because I know you're here.
07:27Black again?
07:28Do a cool color.
07:30Purple.
07:31I see this beautiful purple leather.
07:34So soft that I had to have it.
07:37See?
07:38Thank you. You're here.
07:39Designers, that's it.
07:40That's time.
07:41In line or you get nothing.
07:44Oh, my God.
07:45You guys stressed me out to the end.
07:47Coming up?
07:48Across from here is Brittany
07:50and I instantly noticed my top from the 90s challenge.
07:54I feel like I'm in an episode of
07:55Bitch Stole My Look.
08:01Freedom Challenge.
08:03Oh, there he goes.
08:04There you go.
08:05I wanted to trip you so bad.
08:06Why?
08:07I'm running to open the door.
08:08See his intention.
08:09See his intention.
08:10See his intention.
08:11You're welcome.
08:12Mwah.
08:13Stay over there.
08:14It's okay.
08:15Whoa. He was right.
08:16This is really bright.
08:17Damn.
08:18There. There you go.
08:19There you go.
08:20Yeah.
08:21This challenge is exciting,
08:22but it's also extremely terrifying.
08:24That freedom without the guidance
08:26can be your downfall.
08:27That's cool.
08:32This time I like to focus on one of the voodoo spirits called Damballa.
08:39When God created the heavens and the earth,
08:41he actually uses Damballa's bones as a snake to create the cosmos.
08:46I practice voodoo.
08:47It is a religion of the Africans imported into the island of Haiti.
08:52So I'm making this evening look drop waist skirt with a slit in the front
08:57so that you can actually see skin as she walks.
08:59And I'm doing a crop top with very big shoulders
09:03and it can kind of mimic the skin of a snake.
09:07Hi, everybody.
09:08Hey.
09:09Hey.
09:10All right. I'm excited.
09:11I'm coming to take a look.
09:12Cool.
09:13Wow.
09:14A drape on the form.
09:16Because you just get to make whatever you want.
09:18So now you're just making whatever you want.
09:19Oh my God.
09:20Exactly.
09:21It's great.
09:22I'm so excited.
09:23So tell me everything.
09:24What's the concept?
09:25What's the vibe?
09:26So the concept is my whole kind of Fashion for Your Godmother vibe.
09:28It's like really whimsical.
09:30The Fashion for Your Godmother is just my nonprofit that helps foster care kids.
09:35They teach them how to write, produce, and act in their own short films.
09:40It's really amazing.
09:41They didn't have the life that I have.
09:43So to me to try to give these kids a life is something that's so important to me.
09:50I literally grew up in a fairytale world.
09:53That's how we were brought up and raised.
09:56I'm really intrigued.
09:57Okay, great.
09:58I've always been encouraged by my mom and my dad to do things big.
10:02So for this challenge, I'm creating my own narrative and I'm telling their story.
10:06Is this going to be like that bridesmaids dress that you don't want to give to your friend?
10:10Think couture, think like big sleeves.
10:12Okay, I like that.
10:13Some type of sculptural moment.
10:16Yeah, very sculptural moment.
10:17That's cool.
10:18You'll see.
10:19You always do it though.
10:22Laurence.
10:23This is a very tailored piece.
10:25Yes.
10:26What are you going to do?
10:27I don't know if I'm going to use this on the top or the bottom.
10:29Okay.
10:30I'm making a leather jacket, strong shoulders, short sleeves.
10:34And the bottom of it, I bought purple leather.
10:37So basically I'm going to make a long skirt, but the top of the skirt is going to be visually
10:43a black leather panty around the skirt.
10:46Hi.
10:47Do you have an appointment?
10:49Yeah, I do.
10:50Okay.
10:51Well, step into my office.
10:52I'm here.
10:53Would you have some tea?
10:55All right.
10:56Tell me what are you doing?
10:57The goddess Dabala and he's a snake.
10:59That's why you picked green.
11:00Green.
11:01Because of the snake.
11:02I think they're going to think this is someone else up there.
11:05I don't think it's very you yet.
11:07The whole sporty and the bummer and the puffer thing, it started at Project Runway.
11:12I explored it.
11:13You did it.
11:14It's not really you.
11:15It's not what I do every day.
11:17It could be very strong being this green monochromatic thing.
11:22It's quite powerful that way.
11:24Yeah, I feel like I'm very excited about this because I feel like this is a moment for me.
11:28I'm excited.
11:29It's going to be really cool.
11:30You always get Praje, whatever he does, whether it's street wear or is it high-end couture.
11:36Breaking gowns is literally how I started my business.
11:39I think this is the most me thing I've done here.
11:43Bishmi?
11:44Hey there, Christian.
11:45What are you making?
11:47So, I'm going to do like a big volume skirt, like a cool jacket and then a visor there.
11:53So, this can kind of like blow while she like walks.
11:55So, this would be like a visor hat and then that would be behind her?
11:58Oh my God, I'm obsessed with it.
12:00I just want a lot of movement and volume and coolness.
12:03Like that?
12:04Yeah.
12:05Good luck.
12:06All right.
12:07That's how, how's it going?
12:12So, I like the whole idea of like robes.
12:14It's really a signature for me.
12:15So, I want to give like the most amazing robe you've ever made.
12:19Period.
12:20With obviously a look that goes under.
12:22Yeah.
12:23This challenge being inspired by freedom means so much.
12:26As an African, as an immigrant, as a newfound American, we're still fighting for general freedom in our regular lives.
12:34It's a lot in this emotion.
12:35I want to actually incorporate my leather into my sleeves.
12:39I want to create shackles that are just kind of like getting bigger as the hand grows stronger, but they're not connected.
12:46They're completely free.
12:47It's going to slay.
12:48Okay.
12:49Okay.
12:50So, tell them.
12:51Promise me.
12:52I will.
12:53Back to work.
12:54You guys have about four hours until model fitting.
12:58I won't be here for model fitting.
13:00So, good luck.
13:01And I'll see you for the runway.
13:03Thank you, Christine.
13:04Thanks, Christine.
13:05Bye.
13:06Bye.
13:10Across from me is Britney and instantly noticed my top from the 90s challenge.
13:16If that's the direction she wants to go, go ahead, but I would appreciate her note.
13:28One, two, three, four.
13:31I feel like I'm in an episode of Bitch Stole My Look.
13:34What did you say, Prajay?
13:35I'm in an episode of Bitch Stole My Look.
13:38I think I know.
13:40Never mind.
13:41Mm-hmm.
13:42I do think Britney is living in her own world, not being aware that these looks might be very similar to looks at people that have walked these walls.
13:49This bitch ain't up in the top.
13:51I am fighting.
13:52Don't do it.
13:53Okay.
13:54The queen has spoken.
13:55All right.
13:56I'm going to do me moving forward.
13:59Designers.
14:00Yes.
14:01Who wants a model?
14:02I do.
14:03I do.
14:04You get a model.
14:05And you get a model.
14:06Yay.
14:07How are you?
14:08What?
14:09Models in the house.
14:10I actually want you to be like the new version of like apocalyptic, edgy street wear type of feel.
14:16It's going to look very dope.
14:17I want to make sure it fit how I need it to fit.
14:20This challenge is pretty much like do whatever you want, whatever your aesthetic is.
14:24This is going to be very different.
14:26Okay.
14:27Where are you from?
14:29Originally born in Jerusalem, Palestine, and I have been here for the past 10 years.
14:35This is a big sentimental symbolic challenge for me because it literally is about the Palestinian dream, which is freedom.
14:42Design was part of my personal therapy.
14:45The creative process was dealing with that kind of anxiety where you don't have equal human rights, let alone freedom of movement.
14:53The idea is like a really formal like red carpet.
14:56Red carpet.
14:57You know what I mean?
14:58And I feel like the colors.
14:59We're going for Oscar out there.
15:01Yes.
15:02Yes.
15:03That's the idea.
15:04So I'm going to create something that is the opposite of how I grew up feeling, which is something light and airy and simply majestic in a sense.
15:15Oh my gosh.
15:16I am so excited.
15:17This is so cool.
15:18This is definitely a risk to have this snake going through her hair and not knowing why it's there.
15:25Kind of this idea of the spiritual world and the physical.
15:30So you are the goddess Zambala.
15:32I am so excited.
15:33This is like a whimsical fairy tale.
15:38Oh my gosh.
15:39You just went like.
15:40Yep.
15:41Finished it off.
15:42It always looks absolutely amazing.
15:44It's very me.
15:45It's very my aesthetic.
15:46So we're right here.
15:47We see each other.
15:48It's going to be like a mermaid.
15:50Yeah.
15:51This is going to be cute.
15:52I think I'm a private person.
15:54I keep a lot of in my because it's my business.
16:00From 16 to 20, I went from being a kid to a freaking adult.
16:05I did not live my teenage years because I had a kid.
16:09I never was the one to share my personal life.
16:13I just always walk with my head high no matter what it is that I'm carrying.
16:18I think I'm going to add like at least two inches to the hem.
16:21So it's like just super baggy.
16:23Feels amazing.
16:24Feels perfect.
16:25What?
16:26I love it.
16:27I'm sorry.
16:28I feel so cute.
16:29I like it when you're just like it's open and gathered and you're like.
16:32I'm sorry, but it's time.
16:35Say bye to your models.
16:37Y'all ain't got to go home, but you got to get the out of here.
16:41Bye.
16:42Bye guys.
16:43I'm glad to see you next time.
16:44How did it go for you?
16:46It went cool.
16:47I got to just add it together.
16:50You know, do what I do.
16:52This dress is literally a representation of me.
16:55I feel like brown is beautiful and it doesn't get a chance to be used in like an elegant way.
17:02This is actually my first time using all brown for a challenge, so pretty happy about this.
17:07Hey y'all.
17:08Hey.
17:09Hey.
17:10We got 30 minutes.
17:11Really?
17:12Make it count.
17:13You gonna put something here or just?
17:15Oh, the sleeves.
17:16I mean, I love carousel, but I see the look and I don't know.
17:21It's a little too busy for me.
17:23This is so fun.
17:26What more do you have to work on tonight?
17:29I got a lot going on.
17:30All right.
17:31I do like Brittany's look.
17:33I love the colors.
17:34I love the young freshness of this sportswear.
17:37Love the look.
17:39But mine was better.
17:41All right, guys.
17:43It's time to head out.
17:45Let's get on up out of here.
17:47I want to go eat.
17:55It's too early.
17:56So early.
17:58Good morning, America.
17:59Oh my goodness.
18:00It's breakfast.
18:01I love it.
18:03How does everybody feel this morning?
18:05We're going to the Freedom Park today.
18:07It's gonna be fantastic.
18:08Do everybody have a lot left to do?
18:11Yeah.
18:12Yes, of course.
18:13I mean, come on.
18:14Are you gonna have enough ostrich?
18:16Do you want me to go kill a few hours in the back?
18:18No.
18:19We did not.
18:20No animals were harmed in the filming of this episode.
18:25Yes.
18:26This is where the magic happens, y'all.
18:28Yes.
18:29Yes.
18:30The last stretch.
18:31Love it.
18:32God, I gotta start my jacket.
18:34Same.
18:35I'm trying to spend as much time on this to finish it.
18:39So I'm pretty much done with the jacket.
18:49So now I'm just going to tackle the skirt.
18:52But the problem is I am not completely in love with it yet because I cannot see the whole
18:56thing yet.
18:57Missing one feather.
18:58I'm always missing one.
18:59Right now it is all about finishing the jacket really, really quickly and spending the rest
19:10of the time creating this dress.
19:12I mean, the jacket's going to be closed the whole time anyway.
19:16I am creating this pleather jacket that has this rust feel to it if you stretch the fabric
19:28enough and I'm liking how it's looking like aged leather.
19:32No more exaggerated shoulders because I want to show the judges that I am taking in what
19:38they are saying.
19:39Vishmi, your look might have ended up in the top if it weren't for those shoulders.
19:46It's time to show them that I have evolved to the designer that they know I am.
19:53Hi, everybody.
19:54Hi.
19:55Guys, it's show day and we're taking it on the road.
19:59Yay.
20:00All right.
20:01Who wants a model?
20:02You know I want my model, boy.
20:04Don't ask me no question like that.
20:07Hello.
20:08How's it going?
20:09Hey, boo.
20:10All right, designers, you have about two hours until we head over to four free
20:15Freedom State Park.
20:16Woo.
20:17And then you got your black nail, so that's perfect.
20:20I know I got a lot to make, but I'm trying to stay centered and, you know, positive.
20:25Hey.
20:26Wow.
20:27What's going on?
20:28It is.
20:29What's the skirt?
20:30It's just a simple beaded gown and then the jacket.
20:31That's it.
20:32This is part of the jacket and that's it.
20:33Oh, this caped piece.
20:34Yeah.
20:35It's part of the jacket.
20:36You need that?
20:37The caped piece.
20:38The caped piece?
20:39The caped piece?
20:40The caped piece?
20:41The caped piece?
20:42The jacket's so cool without it.
20:44Without the caped piece?
20:46It looks like you're just adding it on to add it on.
20:48A lot of look.
20:49I hope it's a lot of look.
20:50It's my signature.
20:51Hmm.
20:52Zipper.
20:53Zipper.
20:54Snaps.
20:55Done.
20:56Wow, look at that sleeve.
20:57Are you beading too?
20:58Just the edge of the sleeve.
20:59Really?
21:00Not really me.
21:01It's cute.
21:02All right.
21:03I love how the silver shimmers.
21:05What is that?
21:06Oh, look.
21:07Oh, look.
21:08Oh, look.
21:09Oh, look.
21:10Oh, look.
21:11Oh, look.
21:12Oh, look.
21:13Oh, look.
21:14Oh, look.
21:15Oh.
21:16What is that?
21:18The outfit.
21:19What are you talking about?
21:20Y'all said do whatever I want, so I want to do that.
21:23This is not the outfit.
21:24Come on.
21:25This is it.
21:26No, you're not just showing underwear.
21:28I am.
21:29Are you serious?
21:32No, you're not.
21:33He's lying.
21:34Where's the rest?
21:35That's it.
21:36I didn't have time.
21:37No, you made a sheer skirt.
21:38Where's the gown?
21:39I'm going to go look.
21:40You're not going to see anything.
21:42Oh, he's trying to hide it from me.
21:45Coming up?
21:46It's raining.
21:47The models have to walk with an umbrella.
21:50Let's go under the tent.
21:51I'm visualizing raindrops literally staining the silk.
22:02What is that?
22:03The outfit.
22:04No, you're not just showing underwear.
22:06Where's the gown?
22:07I'm going to go look.
22:10I don't believe you.
22:11I thought so.
22:15I love messing with Christian because low-key, he stresses me out sometimes.
22:21And if you were serious, I was going to cut you in half so hard.
22:24With what?
22:25You stress us out, I'm going to stress you out.
22:27All right, designers.
22:28When you're ready, take your models to the makeup studio and the Tresme hair salon.
22:33Hi, I'm Lacey.
22:34Nice to meet you.
22:35Hey, Lacey.
22:36Hi.
22:37The look is super sporty.
22:38So I'm doing the bubble braid.
22:39Like here, kind of at the top of the ears.
22:40Yes.
22:41I'm going to use a Tresme extra whole mousse.
22:42I want to like really make sure all this hair is like really split back.
22:46First, I'm going to prep your hair with Tresme one step blowout balm because it will minimize
23:01the frizz.
23:02Oh, it smells really good.
23:03Oh.
23:04All right.
23:05All right.
23:06All right.
23:07All right.
23:08Well, then don't press them.
23:09Don't listen to me.
23:10What do I know?
23:11Bishmi, put the skirt on.
23:12I want to see something on a body.
23:27Hmm.
23:28Simple.
23:29Simple and elegant.
23:32Oh.
23:33Naked?
23:34I'm glad you got rid of the lining.
23:38Yeah.
23:39Mm-hmm.
23:40So let me do some hand sewing.
23:41Uh-huh.
23:42So let me see the side.
23:43Take a little step.
23:44See if you can walk.
23:45It's a little restrictive right now.
23:47Uh-huh.
23:48All right.
23:49Can you just cut a vent in the back?
23:52I'm going to add a panel real quick.
23:55Maybe cut it.
23:56Try it on again.
23:57Yeah.
23:58Okay.
23:59And you have like 15 minutes.
24:00All right.
24:01It's too ambitious.
24:02And I don't know.
24:04But this thing has to be perfect.
24:07I love green.
24:08Me too.
24:09So elegant.
24:10Yeah.
24:11Oh, there's a slit.
24:12Everybody is showing quite a lot.
24:14All right, designers.
24:18I'm taking your models to the park in five minutes.
24:21See where your sleeves are?
24:22They'll see when they got to see it.
24:23Wow.
24:24Those pants are cool.
24:25I finally got a cool from Christian, y'all.
24:26I'm going to give myself a slap of hands.
24:27I'm finally in the cool club.
24:28Let me cut some of these strings really quick.
24:29All right, designers.
24:30One minute and I'm taking your models.
24:31I love this walk.
24:32This is beautiful.
24:33Yep.
24:34Can you help me find a necklace?
24:35Absolutely not.
24:36Don't you dare put a necklace on this thing.
24:37I will cut you.
24:38Better, right?
24:39Much better.
24:40All right, I'm taking your models.
24:41All right, I'm taking your models.
24:42Designers, you stay here, pack up your things, and I'll see you there for last looks.
25:04All right, designers, last look.
25:11Let's do it now before it rains.
25:14Can I get some lips over here, please?
25:19Ten minutes until showtime.
25:21A little party of threads back here.
25:23Oh, wow.
25:24You really see everything outside, don't you?
25:26You sure do.
25:27With a natural light, you really see it all.
25:29Well, if the models have to walk with an umbrella, maybe it's a vibe.
25:38Okay, I need to go.
25:40All I'm visualizing now is braindrops literally staining the silk.
25:46Let's go under the tent.
25:49Two minutes.
25:52All right, designers, that's it.
25:54That's time.
25:55I'm so excited.
25:57I would've missed this for the world.
25:59I'll see you there.
26:00Let's go.
26:08Hi, designers.
26:09Hi.
26:10How epic is this?
26:12It's epic.
26:13Real epic.
26:14Real epic, right?
26:15Gorgeous, sunny, warm day, right?
26:19Absolutely.
26:20One point.
26:21Welcome to the Franklin D. Roosevelt for Freedom State Park.
26:26Yay.
26:27We thought this would be a beautiful place to showcase who you are and exactly what you do.
26:37And so fun to have Christian with us.
26:39Yes!
26:40We decided to keep this one in the family because it was just too important.
26:46Understood.
26:47Designers will score your designs as they come down the runway.
26:51All right, everybody.
26:52Let's start the show.
26:53Let's start it.
26:54Yay!
26:55Get with us.
26:56I think I've done more than enough in this challenge.
27:12I stay true to who I am and as a designer I represented what I do.
27:16Wow.
27:17My look is great.
27:18This is a look where I get to get full, cut-toe, Clarice, Momolu.
27:23And that's what they're getting today.
27:24It looks stunning.
27:43The movement of this fabric as she walks with the wind blowing is as if she's floating.
27:48Then as she turns you get this little element of surprise of this open bag.
27:56I think this will completely represent who I am as a designer.
28:00And this is very evening for me.
28:02This is one of the happiest I have been creating looks on this competition.
28:07They're like great expectations or something.
28:10Come on, Mama.
28:11Give it to them.
28:12Give it to them.
28:13With this look, I'm so happy with it.
28:24It definitely shows my identity and DNA.
28:26Nice, sporty space.
28:27Nice.
28:28It's very dimensional.
28:31And I'm glad that I could really bring color in active wear and high fashion to this runway.
28:38I mean, fabulous.
28:39It was pretty good.
28:43Very pretty from afar.
28:57I hope it's as gorgeous when it comes into focus.
29:01I love the fabrication, the brocade, the lace, the feathers.
29:06It's just, it's beautiful.
29:10I knew going into this challenge that I wanted to create this fashion fair godmother look.
29:16The cut of that jacket is so weird though.
29:20Yeah.
29:21There is a lot of love on this really just looking for clothes.
29:22This is almost different from afar.
29:23This is almost beautiful.
29:24Hair.
29:25Sorry, it's almost beautiful.
29:26I think we just look at this fashion fair as my hair.
29:27Not really, we're going to go in to straw shower.
29:29I think we're going to start.
29:30Not really, but we're going to give it to the sun.
29:31You're going to be a little bit more.
29:32Okay.
29:33No, I think we're going to do a put on this.
29:34Right now.
29:35This is beautiful.
29:36Oh, no, no, no.
29:37Oh!
29:38Oh!
29:39Oh, no!
29:40Oh!
29:41Oh!
29:42Oh!
29:43What!
29:44Oh!
29:45Oh!
29:46Oh, no!
29:47It's just moving around like a beautiful gorgeous cloud
29:52Yeah, she's giving high fashion beauty queen
29:55This dress embodies who I am and my passion as a designer and embodies the theme of this challenge
30:02This look for me represents everything that I love to do in this fashion game, which is leather
30:25It's pretty gorgeous. That's a skirt that would sell
30:28It was a gorgeous. I hope that I've done enough to stay in this competition because again, you never know
30:35Laurence can cut a skirt
30:37That is like the most impossible to walk in and the model like will always walk flawlessly in it no matter who it is
30:43It's like a very specific skill set. I mean look at the bottom of that skirt
30:46I
30:54Am pleased with seeing Jessica walk down this runway the pleather jacket is looking so amazing
31:01This is really beautiful in this light
31:04gorgeous
31:06I think my looks stack up to the competitors because I'm not only showcasing a different side of me
31:13I am showcasing what a collection will look like for me
31:18Oh, I love this chiffon
31:20Train that smacks all of our guests at the wedding as she walks down the aisle
31:32That was really beautiful
31:35Thank you
31:37Bravo
31:39Designers
31:40Incredible
31:41Incredible
31:42Incredible work
31:43Thank you
31:44I'm really like continue to be majorly blown away by what you're able to achieve in 15 hours
31:49That was definitely worth driving into the city to see this tonight. It was really beautiful really great job. Congratulations
31:57All right now, let's all get warm so we can go discuss your designs
32:04Back at the runway
32:12Hello designers did everybody get warmed up and dried off?
32:16Yeah
32:18This is getting more and more difficult as we're getting near the end of the competition. We've scored your designs
32:25Brittany
32:28Coteau
32:30You are in
32:32Nice job, Brittany and Coteau you can leave the runway
32:34Thank you
32:35A little safe though both
32:37That was safe, okay
32:38Noted
32:39The five of you had the highest and the lowest scores
32:43One of you will be the winner and one of you will be out
32:46I feel offended
32:48I'm sorry
32:49I do it's like i'm lending it to like ceos like professional women
32:56Who go to galas and who have foundations like yeah, those are my customers
33:01I have to stay true to her and me of course same
33:03Let's start with one of our favorite looks of the night. Let's get the model out here
33:07All right, bish me you had the freedom to do whatever you wanted tonight
33:16Why this look I love that?
33:18I'm in a place where I identify with my masculine side and my feminine side and I love to put it into my art
33:24Where were you and this where was this look when I was getting married?
33:28Okay
33:29Because this is everything it's like a cool future take on bridal
33:35Let's start with the color this chocolate brown red so beautifully against your model's skin
33:42I thought it was really smart though to elevate the look with that dramatic veil is the jacket leather
33:49Um, no, so all of this is like, uh, a pleather type of fabric and it's actually on like a tweed fabric
33:56It looks so expensive and what's the fabric on the bottom?
34:00Um, this is a satin that's double faced it so I just got something that had a nice heavy weight
34:04So when she walked it could bounce a bit
34:06I think this look is ready for the red carpet
34:08Oh, thank you elaine
34:10You deliver fashion
34:12You are on trend if not making your own trends
34:16As an editor, that's what i'm looking for the surprise element
34:20Thank you nina
34:21This I could see immediately on anybody today who is in the cultural zeitgeist
34:27Thank you brandon
34:28Thank you bishma
34:29Thank you jessica
34:30Jessica you can leave the runway
34:32Unfortunately the next look was one of our least favorites of the night
34:36Let's bring out the model
34:37Project this was different for you in this competition
34:47So tell us why you chose this look
34:49I kind of felt like I needed to say hey remember this
34:52I remember season 19 I did the gloves very feminine avant-garde
34:56And I feel like this season that might have been a little lost with the more higher end of street wear
35:01So I wanted to do something that is me
35:03So there is a story behind this whole look first thing that came to me was the goddess dombala
35:08And haitian voodoo is half man half snake
35:11So I wanted to show that in this fabric
35:12It's the idea of having this snake wrapped around her
35:16And then the head is where I went more traditional that a physical snake
35:20This garment is everything you are not
35:23It doesn't feel modern
35:24It doesn't feel fresh
35:26And it doesn't look like it fits the model as it should
35:31I knew I was taking a risk and the baggy nest is supposed to sit right on top
35:35To create that fit there to define her waist
35:38For me the big puffy shoulders and the brocade
35:42With the green boots it was too
35:45Many things together
35:46I wish the snake would have been in her neck and not her top
35:50I wish it would have been part of the decorative detail on this
35:54But mostly I think the problem was the portion
35:58Okay
35:59Thank you Prajee
36:00Please you can leave the runway
36:04Okay let's talk to another one of our top looks of the night
36:13Rami
36:14Hi
36:14So it was the freedom challenge why this look
36:17Where I come from as a Palestinian
36:20Living under military occupation
36:23We don't have the freedom of movement
36:25I'm unable to visit my birthplace jerusalem
36:28In this particular design
36:29I wanted freedom of flow freedom of movement
36:32I thought the choice in fabric was smart and super risky
36:38Because you can't have any cutting issues
36:41You better not get a snag
36:43It just it was you
36:45This dress is so fluid
36:47Was it cut of the bias?
36:48Yes it's all on the bias
36:50The cut on the bias is is driving me insane
36:54I got to say
36:56It is insane
36:57I saw Hollywood glamour
37:00Thank you
37:00This is perfection
37:04Thank you christian siriano for bringing this man back
37:07Because this is stunning
37:11Thank you
37:11It is timeless
37:13It is classic
37:14But there are hints of the future here
37:17In terms of your fabric choice
37:18It was really breathtaking
37:21Thank you so much
37:22Mimi you can leave the runway
37:24She's going to take her time
37:29All right
37:30Let's bring out one of our favorite looks of the night
37:33Here comes the model
37:40Laurence
37:41Congratulations back on the top
37:43What about this look says this is Laurence
37:46I like structure
37:46I like lines
37:48The jacket stayed true to what I designed first
37:51I wanted a leather panty
37:53So I decided to go with a skirt
37:55And incorporate the design of a panty in it
37:57To make it
37:58Where in the hell did you learn to cut a skirt?
38:01It's a whole bunch of math and body
38:05It's just in my head
38:06I really liked it
38:07And that's when I enrolled into fashion school
38:10And that's the year
38:17Sorry
38:19Take your time
38:21I got pregnant when I was 16
38:23And nobody knew about it
38:26And um
38:28I got a letter telling me that I was accepted to fashion school
38:33Did you go to fashion school?
38:34Yeah
38:35I only missed two weeks of school
38:36Nobody ever seen me pregnant
38:38Wow
38:40My father disowned me
38:41And he never got over it
38:43So he literally passed away
38:45And we never spoke
38:46That's why I don't open up sometimes
38:51Thank you for sharing that story
38:53And I know there's been a lot of hardship
38:56But it's shaped you into a very talented designer
39:00For sure
39:01But you have this very strict personality
39:07And when I see you move out of that comfort zone
39:10When you play with the strict and the soft
39:13Is when the magic really comes out
39:17Yeah
39:17It definitely does put your work into a greater context for us
39:22The jacket for me was not maybe the most modern
39:25Okay
39:25But if you don't mind to turn around
39:28The way that you're able to cut a garment is incredible
39:31Thank you, Laurence
39:32Thank you, Laurence
39:33Go ahead
39:34All right
39:35Let's bring out our last look of the night
39:37Which unfortunately was one of our least favorites
39:45All right, Karasan
39:46So tell us
39:47How did you come up with the concept?
39:48This whole look was inspired by the fashion fair godmother
39:52And that is a non-profit that I have
39:54These are actually the colors of the organization
39:57We have been sponsoring kids in the spotlight
40:00And foster care kids
40:01And they teach them how to make their own films
40:04Okay, so tell us in the freedom challenge
40:06Why this specific look?
40:08I love things that are whimsical
40:10That's my whole brand
40:12I mean, Karasan, your charity, first of all
40:14Such an incredible inspiration
40:16Thank you
40:16It definitely contextualizes this character
40:19Right
40:19But there was a lot going on
40:22I don't personally think that you needed that train
40:24I think it took away from the fluidity
40:27And the femininity of the look
40:29And what happens at the top?
40:30The top is out in the back
40:33The jacket was of course not going to come off
40:35But oh wow
40:39It's more breathtaking without the jacket
40:41You are a costume designer
40:44And I think that you are really able
40:46To also give us really high fashion runway moments
40:48That live out of a film
40:50A stage, a TV
40:52And tonight just wasn't that
40:55One thing's for sure
40:56Your looks will never, ever be boring
41:01Because you want every single one of them to be spectacular
41:06Thank you, Karasan
41:07Thank you
41:08Thank you
41:12See, that's what I don't like about it
41:13That you want her to change who she is
41:15If it's working for her
41:16Designers, we have a lot to talk about
41:18We'll call you back when we're ready
41:20Thank you
41:20Thank you
41:25Okay, so tonight proved to be particularly challenging
41:28When you can do whatever you want to do
41:30It can be really, really hard to find
41:32Even like a point to start
41:34Yeah
41:34But why don't we start with our favorites tonight?
41:36Bishmi, Laurence, and Rami
41:39The three all had very precise points of view
41:44Rami, he can cut a dress on bias
41:47Like a few others
41:48It was classic
41:50But he brought something fresh to that archetype
41:53Yeah
41:53Does anybody want to say anything about Laurence?
41:56I'm really blown away by her skill
41:58This skirt, I think she stumbled upon her new signature
42:02But I do think something inside her
42:04Needs to break free a little bit
42:06We haven't seen it all yet
42:08There is more that she has to bring out
42:11Let's talk about Bishmi
42:13I think Bishmi has an innate understanding of streetwear
42:17I completely agree
42:18I feel like tonight when I drive home
42:20I'm going to still be thinking about Bishmi's look
42:22Right
42:22I don't know how he engineered that skirt
42:25It looked like architecture
42:27Mm-hmm
42:27Do we know we're a winner?
42:29Yes
42:31Okay, let's move on to our bottom two designers
42:35Unfortunately, Praje and Kerasan
42:37Let's start by talking about Kerasans
42:39You know what?
42:40You're going to go first this time on both of them
42:42For me, Kerasan has to learn how to edit down her process
42:46And I don't think she is there
42:49It's just, it was too much information
42:51It was too fantastical
42:53I don't really know how you save that
42:55There is no jean, there is no short, there is no skirt
42:58There is nothing you can put on the bottom of that
43:01That would make that jacket work
43:02I don't know
43:03If I took that jacket out of that context and I said
43:06That's Alessandro Michele for Gucci
43:09You would be like, oh yeah, maybe
43:12In the real world, designers have fantastical designs
43:17It was not a fantasy, I'm sorry
43:19It was a circus
43:21I mean, we have to talk about Praje's also
43:23I really do appreciate that he wanted to push himself
43:26And I think that there were some nice elements here
43:28But in Ivory, my mom got married in this in 1981
43:32And that's fine, but this is 2023
43:34It's hard because so much of what he's shown us
43:36Has ended up in the top
43:38And I feel like Praje seems to be a bit stuck
43:40I'm not confident he's going to fight his way out of it
43:43Listen, he wanted to surprise us
43:44He did
43:45Yes, it ended up surprising us
43:47In not a good way
43:48In not a good way
43:49I mean, which of these looks between Praje and Kerasan
43:54Could you see walking down a runway today?
43:58Oof
43:59This is what we're here for
44:01So we all agree we know who's going home
44:04Let's get him back out here
44:13Bishmi, Laurence, Rami
44:17You all showed a crystal clear point of view
44:21And truly delivered on high fashion
44:24The winning look tonight gave us a glimpse into the future
44:27And it took our breath away
44:30The winner is
44:36Bishmi
44:40Congratulations, Bishmi
44:42Thank you
44:42Just a few more challenges to go
44:46Rami and Laurence, you are also in
44:49Thank you
44:49Thank you
44:50You can all leave the runway
44:51Congratulations, everyone
44:53I feel amazing
44:54It's getting me closer and closer to what I want to get to
44:58Which is the finale
44:59And I hope they're able to see with this look
45:01That this is just a sneak peek
45:03Of what my collection would consist of
45:05Well
45:05Bishmi
45:07You won
45:07Rajay and Karasan
45:11We appreciate both of you delivering on impressive runway moments tonight
45:15Unfortunately, one of you will be in
45:18And one of you will go home
45:21Karasan, your look was a little too much fantasy
45:24And not enough fashion
45:26Rajay, the shape of this look ultimately felt dated
45:30This was not easy
45:37Karasan
45:41I'm so sorry
45:42But you are out
45:46Rajay, that means you are in
45:51You can lead the runway, Rajay
45:54Karasan, you are amazing
45:56Thank you
45:56I think ultimately it came down to the need to edit
46:00And we are so sad to see you go
46:02I never thought I'd be back on this runway
46:06I was at home with my mom and she just loved the show
46:10I was like, mom, should I do it?
46:13And I promised her I would
46:16Two weeks later, my mom transcended
46:19So I think my mom set this up for me
46:22I really enjoy this project runway family
46:25And I just want to thank you
46:27Thank you, Karasan
46:28Bye
46:28I want to give a hug
46:30This experience was so special
46:33It was like a full circle journey for me
46:36To come here and to meet my sister circle
46:40I knew it was a sign for me to come here, you guys
46:42Oh, I love you too
46:44I love you too
46:46Your mother is so proud
46:48You're going to be so missed
46:49I hope you feel really good about everything you did here
46:53Because I think it was incredible to watch
46:55Yes, thank you
46:56Look, season one to season 20
46:58It's amazing
47:00All right
47:00I love you guys
47:02I love you
47:03Head to the workroom, clean up your space
47:04And good luck with everything
47:05All right, thank you
47:06You're welcome
47:07Sometimes you just have to walk on faith
47:09I was able to talk about my beautiful mother
47:13And everything that she meant to me
47:15And everything that she's given to me
47:17And what I'm trying to do with the fashion fairy godmother
47:21Really started with my parents
47:24And so to be able to share all that
47:27This journey has been just very special to me
47:32Next on Project Runway All Stars
47:34For your challenge
47:36You'll create one look that showcases two styles
47:40This entire competition I've been in a double bind
47:44One minute my skirts are too long
47:46That's mean they're too short
47:47I know
47:48One black outfit I'm basic
47:49No, not basic
47:50I feel like I'm damned if I do
47:51I'm damned if I don't
47:53Two styles, one look
47:55I get these mixed messages
47:56I would be in a full-blown spiral
47:58We can't wait to see what you guys did
48:00Oh, Lord
