00:00Previously on Project Runway All-Stars.
00:04I was on season 12 of Project Runway and I won.
00:08I personally don't care that a former winner is here.
00:11I isn't blogging.
00:12Sometimes I need some jokes at some people's expense.
00:14Sam's an undercover bitch.
00:16Welcome to Project Runway All-Stars.
00:19Your inspiration should come from the moment you realize
00:23you were destined to become a designer.
00:25Okay.
00:26Game time.
00:27I love the idea of the pink with the black.
00:29Thanks, Anna.
00:30This challenge is about what you know.
00:33Do you have anything else?
00:34No.
00:40This jacket is beautiful and it's very young and fresh.
00:43I love the fabric.
00:44It's exceptionally tailored.
00:46The winner of this week's challenge is...
00:48Valerie.
00:49Shut it.
00:50I just never won a challenge, so this is really special.
00:53First challenge forever!
00:56It's a little unbalanced.
00:58Her right boobies like down here, left boobies up here.
01:02If purity is your thing, then we better see that from you.
01:06Mitchell and Daniel, we still don't know who either of you are as designers.
01:11So both of you will get a second chance to show us what you've got.
01:18This is Project Runway All-Stars.
01:26Oh my God, where are we going?
01:27Are we going to the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater?
01:30Could it be?
01:31Could it be?
01:32They're like one of my favorite dance companies of all time.
01:35As long as they don't have to compete.
01:37Oh my God.
01:39Oh my God.
01:40Oh my God.
01:41Oh my God.
01:46Oh my God.
01:47Good morning, designers.
01:49Good morning.
01:50Good morning.
01:51Welcome to the home of the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
01:57I have definitely heard of Alvin Ailey.
01:59It's just really an honor to be in such an amazingly inspiring place.
02:05Fashion and dance are a great partnership.
02:08Both rely on form, technique, and above all, movement.
02:12The way an object moves is referred to as kinetic energy.
02:17For this week's challenge, we want you to put your energy into creating elegant and dramatic designs
02:24that showcase how fabric can move on the body and through the air.
02:29I love this.
02:30Yes.
02:31I feel pretty confident about this challenge.
02:33I've worked on many ballets, so I know about movement.
02:36Alvin Ailey's principal dancers have performed for over 25 million people.
02:41And today, they have an exclusive presentation just for you.
02:46Oh my God.
02:47Really pay attention to how the fabric they're wearing flows, twists, and turns.
02:54Because the forecast for tomorrow's runway is blustery winds.
02:59No.
03:00There will be a wind machine on the runway.
03:04I'm in love with this challenge.
03:08I love flowy fabrics.
03:10This is a time to show the judges that we can bring the drama.
03:13So enjoy the rehearsal and keep your eye on the fabric, not these amazing bodies.
03:22Good luck, everyone.
03:23Have fun.
03:28I actually get a little emotional because I admire them so much.
03:32And they're right here like I can touch them.
03:36They are making the fabric move and twist in all of these really cool ways.
03:40It's giving me ideas and inspiration for different ways just to kind of drape and manipulate the fabric.
03:55So last week, I won the challenge.
03:57And I'm thankful for that.
03:58But I'm not here to rack up wins.
04:00I'm here to win the whole dang thing.
04:02I liked when she had it like across here and it was like going like on her arms.
04:07So that's why I was debating pleating, you know.
04:09My biggest fear is that the pleats I want to do in the front of the dress might get lost in the wind.
04:13And then all that work would be for nothing.
04:15The challenge is all about movement and I just get this like image in my head of like Marlena Dietrich with like this scarf like fluttering behind her.
04:28She's driving a convertible.
04:30I want those judges to be blown away.
04:34Sorry.
04:35I'm excited about this challenge.
04:38I think it's great.
04:39I really want to have a form-fitting bodice out of lace.
04:43But the whole flowing fluidity will be this huge billowing cape which should fly behind the fan.
04:49I want to be noticed now.
04:50I want to be in front of the judges getting a critique.
04:53Okay, it's time to go to mood.
04:58Come on, you guys.
04:59We have 30 minutes.
05:0030 minutes.
05:02Let me just go with that one.
05:05I'm not set on what to do.
05:08I do some sketching but nothing particular because I usually let the fabric lead me.
05:16Let's do five and five.
05:18So I find my fabric which is silk and I found a gold and I found a black and silver and I will see where it takes me.
05:29I want to do like a silk chiffon.
05:31I end up finding this really awesome print.
05:34It's got this cool like rope print.
05:37I didn't want to put a lot of seams in it.
05:39I had just decided to make like a big captain.
05:44Five minutes.
05:46Five minutes.
05:47I'm going, I'm going, I'm going.
05:50Yes.
05:51I want this.
05:52I rush and I get my yellow chiffon that I wanted.
05:55I come from Hawaii so there's always island breeze.
05:58I'm thinking of dip dyeing my dress.
06:00This design needs that elevated oomph in it and it needs that dyeing process at the end.
06:05Okay.
06:06Time's up everyone.
06:07Zero minutes left.
06:15One day, one day challenge, one day challenge.
06:17All right.
06:18Let's do this guys.
06:19Ten hours.
06:21Oh my gosh.
06:23This is insane.
06:25Like Alyssa said, how this fabric moves is what's going to win us this challenge.
06:30So we need to make sure that we know how this fabric is going to behave.
06:33All right.
06:34Let's get to work.
06:36If I can make it out the room.
06:38Since I was on the show last, I've learned a lot.
06:41I started sewing at the age of 26 and I was 28 then.
06:44I didn't have a store.
06:45I barely had an Etsy shop.
06:46And now I've done collections.
06:48I've worked with other designers.
06:49I've been through the process.
06:50The first time around I did it because of the experience.
06:52For the exposure.
06:53For the fun of it.
06:54But this time I'm also doing it for the prize.
06:56So I'm kind of like...
06:59My biggest fear is that the pleats I want to do in the front of the dress could make the dress look naturally.
07:05It's making it look old I think.
07:07I'm afraid of giving you my opinion.
07:10Why?
07:12Because I don't want to compromise your design.
07:15I don't know what you're trying to do.
07:17Yeah, I don't think...
07:18I like the pleats but I don't think it's for this dress.
07:22I like Liana but some people have been quiet a little bit today.
07:25And I can't tell if it's because people don't want to give me advice or give me encouragement because they want me to go home.
07:31Or because they don't like it.
07:33I'm gonna undo them all.
07:36Sorry.
07:37I was thinking of making a jumpsuit but the more I play with this fabric the less it seems like it wants to be a jumpsuit.
07:52This fabric obviously wants to be a gown.
07:55No jumpsuit.
07:56No jumpsuit.
07:57Just a big ol' gown.
07:58It's gonna be almost like this high-low hem so that the air can go underneath and swoosh up the back of it.
08:05And it's gonna be fabulous.
08:07I like it. It's pretty sexy.
08:11Sam's prancing around like he's some kind of princess.
08:15That one blogs so many mean things about me from my season.
08:19It's kind of like a fly in your ear like I know it's there and I can't squash it.
08:24Mitchell you are so obsessed with like some insignificant little blog.
08:28Like nobody else cares about what I said.
08:31Nobody.
08:32You were like the one person.
08:34But it was hurtful Sam.
08:35It's upsetting.
08:36You know what we were going through.
08:37You want to talk to like somebody who got like eight up on the internet.
08:40I like you. I want to like you.
08:41You really hurt my feelings.
08:42If you can't handle critique and you can't handle like a little bit of humor like you should not be in fashion design.
08:46I'm sorry.
08:47I have been told so many times don't do fashion design.
08:51Like your stuff sucks.
08:53And I'm still here.
08:54I'm still going.
08:55There are plenty of people in this industry that are going to chew you up and spit you right out.
08:59You made really slanderous comments and it made me feel really terrible.
09:05Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
09:07I want you to stand up for yourself.
09:09Did you say something hurtful?
09:11Take that pom-pom off your hat and go stand up for yourself.
09:14I am freaking out.
09:16Yeah.
09:17Who's fighting in this song?
09:18Sam and Mitchell.
09:19You guys fighting?
09:20No one's fighting.
09:21Sam seems to be wanting to make an argument about the fact that I felt, you know, upset about things he said about me.
09:36It's about some blog gossip.
09:37Take that pom-pom off your hat and go stand up for yourself.
09:38Like do that.
09:39Did you say something hurtful?
09:40Like personal?
09:41I think so.
09:42I talked about his designs and I said that he like liked to be on camera.
09:43I do not think that I was hurtful.
09:44Well.
09:45When I came into Project Runway season 12, I did not come in with the expectations of winning
09:49the competition.
09:50But this time I need the prize.
09:51I had a fire so I lost a lot of things in my apartment.
09:55I do not think that I was hurtful.
09:58Well...
10:04When I came into Pride Drivenway Season 12,
10:06I did not come in with the expectations of winning the competition.
10:11But this time, I need the prize.
10:13I had a fire, so I lost a lot of things in my apartment.
10:18Since then, I've been living with friends,
10:19getting myself re-situated, re-adjusted.
10:22So, I'm not here just because I want the prize.
10:25I need the prize.
10:27I like this fabric.
10:28I was actually looking at that fabric.
10:30I decided on using silk.
10:33It's probably more difficult to work with than I'm used to,
10:37but why not trying something different?
10:39I escaped East Germany when I was 19.
10:42The life over there was oppressive.
10:44So, when I get into something, it is all freedom.
10:48I'm working very me right now.
10:52Not knowing where I'm going.
10:53Yeah.
10:54But something comes out of it.
10:56Yeah, I hear you.
10:57I hear you.
10:58Fade has a pretty great fabric manipulation going on.
11:01I don't know what the actual finished look will be,
11:03but as far as the textile, it looks good.
11:07It's basically like a giant box.
11:10Then I just need to make sure I'm doing something interesting underneath
11:13so they're not like, oh, you just made a big box.
11:15Even though it's a simple piece, it has to be really well executed.
11:19Otherwise, it looks like you just tried to play it safe.
11:22So, I'm going to make trim out of the fabric to mimic the whole rope thing going on.
11:28Did you play with the wind machine yet?
11:30No.
11:31It's fun.
11:32I will.
11:33I will.
11:34Hi, Xana.
11:35Hi, designers.
11:36Hi, Xana.
11:37Hi, Xana.
11:38Hi, Xana.
11:39Hi.
11:40You know, this is such an interesting challenge because whether it be on the red carpet,
11:44on an editorial at Marie Claire, or even when I'm just watching a fashion show, we all know
11:49that movement is everything.
11:52I'm really interested to see what fabric you've chosen and how you're going to use that.
11:57So, I'm going to come around and see each of you.
11:59Let's start with last week's winner, Valerie.
12:01My boyfriend and I salsa dance, and we have been for the past three years.
12:04That's funny.
12:05So, I was thinking of, like, the things that I like to dance in, and I like when my dress
12:10catches air, and I like when it spins.
12:11You get asked to dance more if you have a twirly dress.
12:14This feels very modern.
12:15Mm-hmm.
12:16This, the blue sonny sleeve, feels a little bit peasant.
12:20So, I take Xana's advice and I scrap the sleeve because the last thing I want is for my
12:24garment to look like a costume.
12:25This isn't the Renaissance Faire, this is Project Runway.
12:28Good luck.
12:29All right, thank you.
12:30So, the motion is all in this really giant, voluminous, like, butterfly-esque skirt.
12:37I think it looks modern.
12:39Whatever you can do to add more drama to this is only a good thing.
12:43Right.
12:44All Stars makes Under the Gun look like preschool, and I have to step it way up from that.
12:50This is not dramatic, it's not elegant, and it's not sexy.
12:54Okay, those are three bads.
12:55You've got a second chance.
12:56I know.
12:57Do not blow it.
12:58You've got the drama here, with the color.
13:00Okay.
13:01You have to keep focused on the elegant part.
13:03Okay.
13:04You don't want this to get too, like, a dance costume.
13:06Yes.
13:07You have to just remember, it's about the movement of the fabric as your inspiration,
13:10not dance.
13:11Yes.
13:12Ideas are your currency.
13:14That's great.
13:15Yeah, plenty.
13:16Edit.
13:17That's gonna be your problem now.
13:19Less Barney meets Tinkerbell.
13:21Oh, God.
13:22Looking at Mitchell's look, I'm questioning his taste level again.
13:26This dress, in my opinion, is hideous.
13:29I liked this print so much, I thought it would be cool to just sort of keep it like a caftan,
13:36and it would catch a lot of wind.
13:38It's very Georgina Chapman, you know, she does caftan.
13:41She creates the most beautiful caftans.
13:43Think about that as your judge.
13:45Elevate up to her standards.
13:47The idea is that the wind's gonna hit it here.
13:49Yes.
13:50Lift these panels.
13:51And this as well.
13:52Yes.
13:53And there's a slit in it so it'll catch wind here.
13:55Ooh, risky.
13:57Yeah.
13:58I'll make sure it's tasteful.
13:59Kenny's dress is beautiful, but it is a big yellow blob.
14:03I see an elegant situation starting here.
14:06Keep pushing that.
14:07Okay.
14:08Amp this up.
14:09Okay.
14:10I don't want this to look boring in a sea of rainbow.
14:14Yeah.
14:15Is it gonna work in front of that wind machine and wow the judges.
14:19I see elegance.
14:20I don't see drama.
14:21Okay.
14:22Alexander.
14:23Hi, Xana.
14:24How are you?
14:25Good.
14:26What drama are we creating?
14:27I'm making a huge black chiffon cape.
14:30Like six foot long?
14:32Longer.
14:33So it's gonna be drama.
14:34I don't want it to look like the wicked witch of the runway.
14:38Okay.
14:39So go ready to wear cool here.
14:41Sounds good.
14:42When the wind catches the cape, it will billow and make this wow effect.
14:49I think everyone's thinking, let's do a cape.
14:51Like I do not want this to end up like a Marvel comic.
14:55Mm-hmm.
14:56Maybe there's a different way you can make some movement in this.
14:59Right now I don't see elegance.
15:02I just see a fringe cape blowing in the wind.
15:04It's elegance, Anna.
15:06You don't have to prove it to me.
15:07Right.
15:08Prove it on the runway.
15:09The idea is a little bit of a cocoon turning into a butterfly.
15:13That's why I thought I would leave this very simple.
15:16Have you stood it in front of the wind machine in here yet?
15:18I did not yet.
15:19You have to.
15:20Do you want to do it?
15:21Yeah.
15:22Let's do it.
15:23It still looks like a dress in a wind machine.
15:30It doesn't look like it's a dress that's been designed to be hit by this amazing blast of
15:36wind.
15:37Okay.
15:38Designers, you are all playing this way too safe, I'm afraid.
15:43You guys are all stars.
15:45Like where is that all star quality?
15:47Be bold, be brave, and be dramatic.
15:50Good luck.
15:52Thank you, Anna.
16:00So after Santa leaves, I'm like, okay, maybe I can do shorts underneath my caftan.
16:06Luckily I have fabric to do it.
16:09I want to make sure that they fit right and they don't look crazy.
16:12We have to create something that's elegant with lots of movement because there's going
16:22to be a wind machine on the runway.
16:24This looks very flowy.
16:25I hope so.
16:26It should be.
16:27It's been, I like put it in front of a wind machine already.
16:30There's a lot going on.
16:31This is the most gorgeous thing I've ever made.
16:33I am astounded by how good it looks.
16:37Damn.
16:38To me, Sam's dress just looks like a normal dress.
16:41With an attachment piece on it.
16:43It's not something dramatic.
16:45Gorgeous.
16:46Gorgeous cheek.
16:48So this you hold.
16:51And I attach it to the back.
16:54I love Fade's printed fabric.
16:57I think it's beautiful.
16:58I don't love the copper satin fabric that he's using underneath.
17:03Okay, walk into it.
17:05The first thing I do is I try on her shorts.
17:08The fact that I was pulling in some kind of like street wear reference to it made me feel
17:14a little more connected to it.
17:16Yeah.
17:17Oh, you look fabulous.
17:20Oh, it's so pretty.
17:22Unfortunately, I couldn't finish my garment completely before the fitting.
17:26So it's not as far along as I want it to be.
17:28My cape's not ready yet.
17:29I'm a little worried, but I know I'll have time tomorrow morning to check it.
17:34All right, bye.
17:36Bye.
17:37See ya.
17:38See ya.
17:39Have a good night.
17:41You're done Keeney or no?
17:46No, I just had to dye.
17:48What you gotta do?
17:49The tie?
17:50Dyeing fabric.
17:51Dye it?
17:52Dye it?
17:53Yeah.
17:54The most important part of my look that has to be perfectly executed is the dip dyeing
17:59process.
18:00I decide to dye it orange.
18:02Keeney's going to dip dye his dress, and I am frightened for him.
18:06If it goes wrong, it's pretty much destroyed, because at this point, the dress is complete.
18:11It's a tequila sunrise.
18:13He lives in Hawaii.
18:14He sees those colorful sunsets.
18:16It's an extreme ballsy move.
18:18It's very ballsy.
18:19Like, how do you know how it's gonna turn out?
18:21The whole top portion, I want to stay yellow.
18:24That's the scary part, because one drop of dye on the front can ruin this whole design.
18:29Hi, everybody.
18:30It's time.
18:31We gotta go home.
18:32No.
18:33No.
18:34I'm putting all my eggs into this basket, and if it cracks and falls, then by Keeney,
18:39I'm out of here.
18:42Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
18:45When I see Emily's shorts, I'm kind of like, what the hell happened on the scene here?
18:50Fate has a great old lady dress.
18:53Valerie's design borders on tasteless.
18:56Our minutes are going.
18:57It's another day.
18:58It's the morning of the runway.
18:59I go straight into the dress, and I can't wait to see my dyeing process to see if it works.
19:17This came out so good.
19:20Keeney's look is amazing, especially the way the colors combine with one another.
19:26He's the one to meet.
19:27Oh, I'm so happy with it.
19:30How are you, my Diora?
19:33I love it.
19:34We are gonna be elegant today.
19:37Turn around, turn around, turn around.
19:41Initial vision of this was this woman driving in a convertible with a headscarf on.
19:46It looks better on you.
19:47Hardly.
19:48Let's make this as fabulous as possible.
19:51Perfect.
19:52Whoa, it's insane.
19:56I really hope that the judges are blown away by my caftan and the way it moves so well in
20:01the wind and the colors.
20:03Yeah, that looks good though.
20:04I like it.
20:05When I see Emily's shorts, I'm kinda like, what the hell happened on the scene here?
20:11She looks to be in serious trouble.
20:13And the pants look flying walking and everything.
20:15Yeah.
20:16Ooh, we need to go to the Schwarzkopf hair studio.
20:18Are you ready?
20:19Yeah, let's go.
20:20I'm ready.
20:21Okay.
20:22Really big, messy waves, volume.
20:24I really want her hair wanded.
20:26Really, really, really big.
20:27Maybe a little bit more nighttime.
20:29Maybe this pulled back, like that.
20:31Yeah.
20:35I wanna do something really interesting around her eyes.
20:38Why don't we take the eyeliner from the bottom of the eye?
20:41I love it.
20:42I was thinking about doing a smokey eye, but I was thinking with, like, a wet smokey eye,
20:46kinda update it, you think?
20:47We're gonna use the Golden Sunset.
20:5030 minutes, guys!
20:55From the Chinese laundry shoe wall, I find these perfect heels.
21:00I go to the Bobble Bar accessory wall and get a bunch of bracelets.
21:04Eh, I'm just gonna take them off.
21:07Okay, come on, let's take that.
21:09Does it feel okay?
21:10By some stroke of miracle, the bodysuit fitted perfectly.
21:14Yeah, perfect.
21:15Valerie's design looks the most to me like a prom dress.
21:19Actually, borders on tasteless.
21:22We did it!
21:23We did it!
21:24We did it!
21:25I like that, actually.
21:27I do usually not work with light floaty fabrics, but movement is very important for this challenge.
21:34And I'm confident I will pull it off.
21:38Okay.
21:39Fade has an older lady dress.
21:42It's a bad dress.
21:44I think Fade is on the chopping block.
21:46Five minutes to runway, designers!
21:48Will this fit?
21:49I don't know.
21:50Now I'm ready to put the cape on and test it in front of the fan.
21:55It works perfectly.
21:57It catches air.
21:58It's beautiful.
21:59Yes.
22:00That's it.
22:01Whoa, Alex.
22:02That is amazing.
22:03You like it?
22:04Alexander's cape.
22:05That thing is gonna eat the runway.
22:09No one can compete with Alexander today.
22:12That looks sick.
22:13I love it.
22:14I'm ecstatic.
22:15I think I can win this challenge.
22:17All right, guys.
22:18That's time.
22:19Let's go to runway.
22:20Models, hold your train.
22:23Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
22:26I love this.
22:27Yes.
22:28This is so beautiful.
22:29You're giving me total birds of paradise.
22:32What woman is really gonna wear a gown that looks like that?
22:35Oh, wow.
22:36The winner of Project Runway All Stars will receive the opportunity to design an exclusive
22:42line of jewelry for bobblebar.com, the final say in fashion jewelry.
22:47A capsule footwear collection by Chinese Laundry.
22:50A fashion spread in Marie Claire in a position at the magazine as contributing editor.
22:55From Brother Sewing and Embroidery, a complete sewing studio to launch their line.
23:00And to elevate their business and build their brand, a cash prize of $100,000.
23:05Hello, designers.
23:06Hi.
23:07Hi.
23:08So this week's challenge was to create dramatic, elegant wear that showcases the movement
23:20of fabric.
23:21We will be firing up the wind machines to show off your looks.
23:25Let's meet the judges.
23:26First co-founder and designer of Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
23:30Hi, designers.
23:31Hi, Georgina.
23:32Next, the most iconic name in American fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
23:36Hi, kids.
23:37Hi.
23:38And our guest judge exploded onto the scene as the female star of the blockbuster franchise,
23:44High School Musical.
23:45She graduated to starring on Broadway in the title role of the classic musical Gigi.
23:51Please welcome the sweet Vanessa Hudgens.
23:54Hi.
23:55Hi, Vanessa.
23:58The judges and I are looking for how fabric moves on the body and in the air.
24:03Remember, tonight, as always, this is a blind runway.
24:06The judges and I will not know which look belongs to which designer until after the show.
24:11I wonder which way the wind will blow tonight.
24:14Good luck, everyone.
24:24I have goosebumps.
24:25I love it.
24:26It embodies exactly what I envisioned.
24:29The color is so beautiful.
24:31It just moves like water.
24:35I am very happy with what I accomplished today.
24:41I just feel this overwhelming sigh of relief come over me.
24:49Because it's beautiful and it flows beautiful and my model is working it and it looks amazing
24:54and it's exactly what I set out to do.
24:56I think she looks great.
25:08I am really impressed.
25:10Oh, I like how wide it gets.
25:13Like Marilyn Monroe moment.
25:15Her skirt was going all sorts of beautiful the way I wanted it to and it looked really elegant.
25:19I am so ecstatic when I see my model.
25:35The cape is ballooning and bubbling and floating 20 feet behind her.
25:40It looks wonderful.
25:47I honestly am a little speechless.
25:51I really tried to embody this spirit of a woman.
25:57If they don't like it, they don't like it.
26:00But I know that that's the most beautiful thing that I've ever made.
26:03Oh my God, she owns everything.
26:15She looks fabulous.
26:17I'm very pleased.
26:20I really hope the judges take note at this craftsmanship that I put before them.
26:25I'm thinking, hey, this is pretty cool.
26:34I mean, that thing blows like crazy.
26:37It's like, it definitely takes a lot of air.
26:39I mean, that works.
26:48I think she looks gorgeous.
26:50The fabric is just like moving so well.
26:54When it goes out and flows in the wind, you can really see the rope print.
26:58I think it looks beautiful.
27:09My dress is really cool.
27:10It's what the cool broads are wearing.
27:13It's got metal.
27:14It's got leather.
27:15It's got cotton gauze.
27:17I am really impressed by it.
27:28My garment looks high-end in the light.
27:30The gold really shines.
27:33It captures the wind as the challenge asked before.
27:37The black and white silk flows nicely.
27:40So I'm really pleased how it came together.
27:47She looks electric.
27:48The color's on point.
27:49The cutouts are on point.
27:50It's just on point.
27:51This look is banging.
27:52I love my look.
27:53I like the black.
27:54I love the straps.
27:55It is not a lighthearted, angelic dress.
27:57Yeah, she's like angel of death right now.
27:58She looks very twisted in a really cute, fashionable way.
27:59The color's on point.
28:00It's perfect for her hair.
28:01She looks sexy blackzy.
28:02The hair is really nice and spiritual.
28:03That's one look, beautiful.
28:04In enough color.
28:05I'm like the color.
28:06The white underwear can be aged-y called out grape-y.
28:07Just a little bit Bowie Recipe to help them with her hair in her hair.
28:11I like the black. I love the straps.
28:13It is not a light-hearted, angelic dress.
28:17Yeah, she's like angel of death right now.
28:20She looks very twisted in a really, like, cute, fashionable way.
28:34My model looks sexy, classy, whimsical at the same time.
28:39When she's standing in front of the fans,
28:41and the fans are blowing, it looks like fire.
28:44The orange ombre totally elevated it,
28:47and it was like a sketch that came to life.
28:56Designers, we saw a lot of drama today on the runway
28:59with these elegant designs.
29:01If I call your name, please step forward.
29:03Alexander?
29:05Keeney?
29:07Fade?
29:09Sam?
29:11Valerie?
29:13Emily?
29:15The six of you have the highest and the lowest scores,
29:19and will receive critique.
29:21The rest of you are safe, and through to next week.
29:24You can leave the runway.
29:25Designers, one of you is the winner this week,
29:29and one of you will be eliminated.
29:31Designers, three of you received the highest scores,
29:33and three of you received the lowest scores.
29:35Keeney, let's start with you.
29:37Tell us about your dramatic design.
29:39Being from Hawaii, there's always wind,
29:41and it kind of got me in this place where I was sitting at the beach,
29:43looking at the sunset.
29:44I really think that you brought this challenge to life.
29:45Did you dye the fabric yourself?
29:46Yes, I did.
29:47You did.
29:48I took the chance at the end of my design.
29:49Well, good for you, because I really think it made this
29:50a lot of fun.
29:51I really think that you brought this challenge to life.
29:52Did you dye the fabric yourself?
29:53Yes, I did.
29:54You did.
29:55I took the chance at the end of my design.
29:56Well, good for you, because I really think it made this dress stand out.
30:10I don't love the lace part of it.
30:13Something about the lace doesn't make it more expensive.
30:17It makes it look to me less expensive.
30:19I think this is so beautiful.
30:21You're giving me total birds of paradise.
30:23I love the colors.
30:25I think this dress had great runway appeal.
30:27It was very dramatic.
30:29The belt completely threw me off.
30:31But overall, I think you did a beautiful job,
30:33and I love that you hand dyed it.
30:36Okay, Fade, you're up.
30:38The idea was turning from a cocoon into a butterfly,
30:41so a solid center and then wings coming off it.
30:46There's a rigidity about this skirt and this collar up here
30:51that I didn't quite understand in the context of this floating
30:55fabric.
30:56I admire your ability to make clothes, but the hammered satin with
31:01that print just kind of is like shooting yourself in the foot.
31:05Fade, I love the idea of butterflies.
31:07I actually have a butterfly tattoo.
31:09I love the metamorphosis, but it's just not all working together for me.
31:14I actually like the combo of these fabrics together.
31:17Yes.
31:18I did not love the silhouette.
31:20Okay.
31:21Valerie, tell us about your elegant design.
31:24I've always wanted to be a modern dancer, but I don't have the legs for it.
31:27But I am a salsa dancer.
31:29So I wanted to create something that was passionate and it was bold.
31:33I love the fact that this dress didn't need the wind machine to move as she was walking.
31:39I like that I knew it was your dress, which is a great thing because you're presenting
31:43to us a distinct style and it's a very different outfit to last time, but I knew right away
31:48that that was yours.
31:49You thought a really sophisticated, smart thought, which was like, I like skirts that catch air.
31:57And that's what set you apart this week.
31:59Okay.
32:00Alexander, tell us about your elegant design.
32:03I actually really liked this challenge.
32:05So I created basically a balloon to capture the air and hold it as long as possible.
32:10I loved your intention there of taking this parachute and putting it behind.
32:16I thought it was beautiful.
32:17My issue here is that the lace dress is taking away from that.
32:21I just say, watch yourself in the costume aspect of what you do.
32:25I'm quite costuming what I do and I always have to make sure I step back.
32:29So I do understand that.
32:32Of all the designs, it was a really good thought.
32:36But if you took the cape away, what woman is really going to wear a lace gown that looks
32:42like that.
32:43And these wristbands make it very Wonder Woman.
32:45Okay.
32:46You know, that's bad.
32:48I do really like the blue flowers on it, but it's just not all meshing together.
32:57Hi, Emily.
32:58Hi.
32:59Tell us about your dramatic look.
33:00I was inspired by the fabric because it was so beautiful that I didn't really want to put a lot of seams into it.
33:06I love the idea of a caftan.
33:08The short is what's really, really throwing me here.
33:11I don't understand the length and I don't really understand the cut because they're sort of giving me a gym short.
33:18A sort of nude strapless bra under this is so weird.
33:23Like, I don't know what woman is going to wear a nude strapless bra under a caftan.
33:28I really don't mind the first V braid.
33:31It's the second braid that wraps around that I feel like is unnecessary.
33:36Okay.
33:37Sam, tell us about your elegant design.
33:40I had this, like, vision in my head of this woman, like, driving along, like, cliffs of Italy.
33:45And then she, like, pulls up next to this, like, villa with all these stairs and she gets out and this gown just wafts behind her as she, like, scales them to her man.
33:54Or her woman.
33:55I love this. It just gave me great Gatsby.
33:59This was something a little different, giving this sort of flapper-esque feel to the dress.
34:04Of the whole runway, it had the most integrity.
34:07The movement reacted to wind, which was part of the thing, and also it was great standing still.
34:12I love the fact that this dress actually has a very distinct silhouette.
34:17Well done.
34:18Thank you to all the designers.
34:20It is now time for the judges and I to deliberate.
34:23We have a lot to talk about, so you guys could wait it out in the backstage lounge.
34:26Thank you so much.
34:27You can leave the runway.
34:31Hey.
34:32Okay.
34:33I'm on the bottom.
34:34No.
34:35Lies.
34:36No.
34:37Yours are so dramatic.
34:39This is the second time that Georgina Chapman has told me that, like, I make the most beautiful flattering clothes.
34:45I've had my share of being pretentious and, you know, confident, but I think, like, Sam is overconfident.
34:51For real?
34:52This was a cool runway.
34:55The wind machine made everything so dramatic.
34:58Should we talk about the designs we liked the most?
35:01Keeney.
35:02From the back, it was truly spectacular.
35:05It really was.
35:06It was original.
35:07It was beautiful.
35:08From the front, it wasn't.
35:09I didn't love the lace on the bodice.
35:10I didn't love the idea of the black belt.
35:13It was throwing me off, though, how it looked like there were two separate dresses cut in half and then put together.
35:21The color set him apart from everybody else, but it was not cohesive.
35:25It seems that Sam is having a lot of fun.
35:32It wasn't just about fabric and how it reacts to wind and movement, but there was a whole kind of, like, drama associated with this dress.
35:40And I love that it actually had a real silhouette.
35:43And it was beautifully cut.
35:45He had got his fabric.
35:46He knew what his design was, and it was planned and it was thought out.
35:49It was designed.
35:50I love it.
35:51Valerie, she's kind of kicking some butt, huh?
35:58I loved the fact that out of all of those designers, we could tell who designed that dress.
36:04I loved that she did not let the challenge throw her.
36:09She worked the challenge to her advantage.
36:11It had a simplicity to it, which was incredibly elegant.
36:15It was a beautiful, beautiful dress.
36:17So then let's move on to the least successful designers this week.
36:25Let's start with Alexander.
36:27He's a smart guy, obviously.
36:29I think that he's very creative.
36:31I just want him to simplify a bit because this got a little tacky.
36:35You know, you have to really question those big wrist cuffs.
36:38Yes, you do.
36:39It did go Wonder Woman, and I do think, like, that was his problem.
36:43But he thinks.
36:44He thinks.
36:45I think Fade made his model look old and terrible.
36:52Yes.
36:53I didn't want to say that.
36:54Yeah.
36:55But that's what I was thinking.
36:56You know what really threw me about Fade was that collar.
36:59Why he would put that collar on at the end and weigh down that.
37:02The whole look was very, very dated.
37:04But not in a retro way.
37:05Yeah.
37:06Not in a good way.
37:07Yeah.
37:08So then, Emily, I mean, to me that just looked like she took some fabric, cut a hole in it, and then tried to make it look better with some weird braiding.
37:19And can you explain the shorts to me?
37:21No, I can't.
37:22At least the boxers had a dark lining and it looked like an intentional kind of purple lining.
37:27Whereas a nude bra, that was really unforgivable to me.
37:31The whole thing was strange.
37:33So I think we know what we're going to do, right?
37:39We've made our decision.
37:45Designers, the judges and I have made our decision.
37:48One of you is the winner this week.
37:50And one of you will be eliminated tonight.
37:53Be true to someone.
37:55Whether we alone and not aware of that.
37:56There's a город and not looking for you.
38:02Keeney, you did a great job.
38:04And you were safe.
38:14Valerie, and Sam, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge, and we have a surprise
38:21for you.
