In this video: "This Hike" began with a word study into "path" and "way" that forged down a few bunny trails before leading the way into the spiritual and natural equivalents of hiking through life. In our haste, we tend to forget that we are three-part beings, and that all three need attention.
"This Hike" highlights the needs of hikers preparing to take on a trail as well as the spiritual considerations we ought to have as followers of Yeshua on The Way.

00:00Welcome back to Marvel and Mysteries. My name is Tracy, and I am so excited. I'm so passionate
00:15always about equipping, about helping people along in their journey with the Lord, because
00:20there are a lot of stumbling blocks that you might not have to stumble over, except for
00:24the initial one, Jesus Christ Himself. But I love to help people kind of overcome, get
00:29to the next spot in their walk, and just see people go from glory to glory and faith to
00:35faith. So for me, it's all about the intangible transformation bringing tangible results. I
00:42love it. I love it. I love it. And today, I am so excited for this. And I know people say
00:48it all the time, so excited, so excited. But I am excited because this is such a parallel
00:53between these two things that I'm going to be sharing with you. And I'm just excited about
00:58it and how it all kind of comes together and works together. And so today, we are talking
01:04about the spiritual journey that we are all on. We are all on a hike, whether we realize
01:11it or not through this life. And on any hike, the importance is who is your guide? Now, obviously,
01:19for the shorter hikes, you don't need to have a guide, but we're going through an entire life.
01:25It's kind of a long journey. And having the right guide is critical. And I'm thinking in
01:31Isaiah 3, when the Lord is telling the people, your guides mislead you, and they literally
01:38swallow up the course of your paths. And this is why it's so key. And how do I know? Because
01:47for 30-something years before I really, truly came to the Lord, I followed other people.
01:52I followed my own ideas, I followed spiritual fads, and all of these things were not good for me. They
02:01did not work at all. And number two, a lot of these things were actually really dangerous. And I didn't
02:08realize it right away. So some of us chose to path through foolishness, basically, to come out on the
02:17other side. Of course, you didn't, dear listener, viewer. Yeah, no, you were much smarter than I was,
02:24I am sure, and got through some things without going through it. But I walked through some crappity
02:29crap. And so it is my good pleasure to help you not have to do that. Jesus instructed us really clearly
02:37in Matthew 7. I'm going to read from my notes because it's just, it's too important for us
02:43that we enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide, and the way is easy that leads to destruction,
02:52and those who enter it are many. Yikes, okay? For the gate is narrow, and the way is hard that leads
03:01to life, and those who find it are few. That one is so sobering to me. I always come back to that.
03:09And then I'm so grateful to the Lord for everything that He has done for us because
03:14He is the way, the truth, and the life. He said so, and that is how we come into this whole thing.
03:20So I'm like, thank you, Lord, that we even find the path to begin with, right? So when people are
03:26preparing to go on a hike, there are a lot of different preparations that they have, and this all
03:32just is such a close match to what we are dealing with, spiritually speaking.
03:37So people that are planning a hike, they're thinking about, okay, well, what national park
03:42might we want to go to? What trail do we even want to walk on? Do we have the right footwear?
03:50What are the other considerations? Like, where are we going to stay as we're going? Have we planned
03:55ahead for that? Is there a particular guidance that is needed? Should you pay attention to the signs
04:02that are around you as you're on the trail? There's terrain, there's other considerations
04:07like the weather. There's also the timing. There's so much to consider, to think of, and
04:12to prepare. And we really should be preparing. We should be working out our spiritual muscles
04:18as we're going along because it's going to start off kind of simple, but then, of course,
04:22it just kind of increases in responsibility over time.
04:25And so for most hikers, that first consideration is going to be, you know, what national park or
04:33what trail are we going to go on? And how this kind of works in for us as believers in Jesus is
04:40we start at the first, kind of the first trailhead is the Lord. I am the way, the truth, and the life.
04:47No one comes to the Father but by me. Boom. There's your starting point. There's your starting point,
04:52honestly, for the journey, for the hike that is through life. Now, we know our final destination
04:58is eternity with Him, eternity in Him. We have that. But there's a middle portion, and it's
05:06something that we're going through. We're working out our salvation with fear and trembling. But the
05:11one thing we need to remember is that we have actually come to Mount Zion. We have come to the
05:18city of the living God. We have come to the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels,
05:24right? The general assembly of the righteous men whose spirits have been made perfect. They're
05:31registered in heaven. And we have come to the just judge. We have come to God, the judge of all.
05:36We've come to the Lord Jesus Christ, the new covenant. And we have come to the blood of Jesus,
05:42which speaks a better word. Like, oh my goodness, that is where we are coming to. Like,
05:48that is where we are. That's part of our destination. It's part of our walk. And so,
05:53we need to remember that too. And then Deuteronomy 533 really speaks of the mindset that we ought to
06:00have as we're entering into this walk with the Lord. You shall walk in all the way that the Lord
06:06your God has commanded you, okay? Number one, walk in the way He commands us, right? That you may live,
06:12okay, good. And that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you shall
06:20possess. So, that's kind of our framework, our mental framework, as we're moving forward that
06:26we need to remember. Okay, so point two, we've already looked at, okay, what kind of where are we
06:31going? And all of that. And so, next, the consideration is our footwear. Because we need
06:39to be able to balance, we need to be able to move quickly and in readiness. And I love flip-flops,
06:47but you can't always work too well in flip-flops. They don't work out so well. So, we need to think
06:53of our armor that we are already kind of built with, and that is maintained, that we have to maintain.
07:00And it says in Ephesians that our feet are shod in the preparation of the gospel of peace.
07:06So, that is speaking to a readiness. That is speaking to being able to move quickly. That is
07:11being able to share the gospel with others at a notice, having that answer for others that would
07:18ask about, what is the weird hope that you have that we're able to actually share that with them?
07:23And the word says, beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who are bringing peace
07:29and good news, the salvation. That's a beautiful thing. You need to be ready. And that's how your
07:36feet can be ready for that. And in Proverbs 4.26, I love this. It says, to ponder the path of your
07:43feet, then all your ways will be sure. That we have to look. We have to count the cost. We should be
07:51looking ahead and pondering the path of our feet. And where are we going? If we go off the trail,
07:57what happens if we go off the trail? It's not a good thing necessarily if we do. And while we're
08:04out there, where are we abiding? We are abiding in the shadow of the Most High, hopefully. That's the
08:12idea of where we are supposed to abide. And then the Lord lives in us and we are in Him. And we cannot
08:19forget Colossians 3.3, that the old us is dead and that our life is hidden in Christ in God. So,
08:30very important to remember in all of that. And the next consideration that we want to be thinking of
08:36in terms of hiking is really the guidance and the signs and paying attention to what our guide says.
08:46Because if we don't, we're going to be in trouble. So, it's like, okay, be righteous, right? And lean
08:52not on our own understanding. Because it says in all of our ways that we're to acknowledge Him,
08:58and He makes the path straight. We don't have to make the path straight. He makes the path straight.
09:03So, when I ask an experienced hiker about this, like, what do you do? Because you're out there in
09:10the wilderness. It's so beautiful. It's so invigorating. And there are so many different
09:15little paths that you could go off on. And it could just be so tantalizing because it looks like it'd be
09:20so exciting. But do you do that? Like, when you see a sign that says, stay on the trail, like,
09:27what do you do? And the answer really is to stay on the trail. Because if you don't, there could be an
09:34area where it has fallen, fallen, where the rocks have fallen, there's dangerous areas. There could
09:40be areas where they're trying to do some kind of a conservation effort. There also might be other
09:47signs that are there to keep you on the trail, because maybe there's a bear habitation or something
09:51like that. And so, we need to remember that also in Proverbs 14, too, there's a way that seems right to
10:00a man. But in the end, it leads to death. Okay? So, listen to your guide. Listen to your guide. Pay
10:08attention. Be sober. Be vigilant. Because your enemy, the devil, is running around like a lion. He's
10:14looking for who he can devour. So, don't be a snack. Okay? Don't be a snack. The prudent sees danger
10:23and hides himself away. But the foolish ones, well, yeah, they just go on and suffer for it. So,
10:29when you're seeing something on the path that is coming either way, the Lord is saying, this is the
10:35way walkie in it, right? So, we don't want to go off of that path. And especially as things try to
10:40take us off the path, your job is to stay on it. So, God smooths the way for the righteous. That is
10:49his job. So, stay in that right standing with him. Now, the next point, the next consideration for a
10:54hiker in the natural is really taking a look at the terrain and some of the other considerations like,
11:00okay, what is the weather going to be like? Because the hikers know that you can be at the base of the
11:05mountain and it can be really hot. And by the time you get to the peak, it can be snowing. So, you have to
11:12be ready for all of those different seasons that you're getting in a short period of time. And as we are
11:18going through our life and walking with the Lord, we are going to have those different seasons that
11:24we walk through as well. And he clothes us so that we can withstand anything as we're moving through.
11:30But I want to caution and just remind you of Galatians 2.6, which says that we're to bear
11:36each other's burdens for in that we're fulfilling the law of Christ. And oftentimes, in this walk,
11:44when we're with other people, we're walking alongside other people through life, there's
11:48going to be those moments where they cannot carry their rucksack any longer. They've got stuff,
11:53they might have burdens that you're going to have to help. So, we're all going to be hopefully
11:58spreading that weight around so that we can all continue moving forward and you're not leaving
12:04anybody behind you. Everyone is able to continue on. You're rejoicing with others, you're also grieving
12:10with others. That is part of the journey. And we also need to remember that in some cases,
12:18it's the whole, yay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, and that we're not
12:24going to fear any evil because the rod and staff of the Lord is with us. And that's important to know
12:30that His protection as the Good Shepherd is with us at all times. It's our job to listen to His voice
12:37and obey His voice because that's going to keep us out of trouble. Again, it's not to ruin the fun
12:42of life. That's not what He's there for. That's not what He's doing. He's trying to keep you alive.
12:49We're the ones that, in our own rebellion, do everything possible to mess ourselves up, okay?
12:56And God makes our feet as, like, the feet of a deer, and He sets us firmly on our high places.
13:02So, if we allow Him to do that, we are perfectly positioned, and we are established, our feet are
13:10established upon the rock that is Jesus Christ. And so, we can navigate, really, through anything.
13:16It's the enemy that has to deal with the dark and slippery places, with the angel of the Lord
13:21chasing Him, because those angels of the Lord are encamping around about those who fear the Lord.
13:28And don't forget Psalm 91. Don't forget Psalm 23, because those hold those promises of protection,
13:37of being led, of not being in lack and being in want, and then also having those angels bear us up
13:44on their hands, lest we would dash our foot against a stone. And point five in all of this is the timing
13:52of a hike, which is so incredibly important. And I've talked before in other videos about the timing
13:59of the Lord, and not being so distracted that you miss your exit on the highway, so to speak,
14:05and to slow down in what you are doing. And this is so important for a hiker in the natural,
14:12because they wouldn't want to end up in the worst part of the hike in the dark.
14:18That is incredibly dangerous. And then trying to find their way back down even worse to have to do
14:25that in the dark. So, the timing is very, very important. So, we should be paying attention to
14:32that. And then also remembering that the Lord is our light. And so, technically, we are always in light
14:41and not having to deal with the spiritual dark in that way. And let me read John 8, 12.
14:48Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness,
14:55but will have the light of life. And Psalm 119, 105, your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to
15:05my path. So, we have his light around us. We can stay in that light. We should stay in that light.
15:13And for the hiker that's in the natural, the hardest part of the journey is really at the very end,
15:20because you're tired and your feet can slip. You're worn out. And there are a lot of awful stories of
15:28hikers that have basically gone to the end of their course, to the end of the trail,
15:33only to have some kind of an accident. And for that, we need to always bear in mind the words of
15:40Isaiah, that we trust in the Lord so that we renew our strength, that we lift up on wings like an eagle,
15:49that we can run and not be weary, and that we can walk and not faint. If we trust in the Lord,
15:55He keeps our mind in perfect and constant peace. And that is what we need to remember in this
16:01journey, that though we are buffeting our body, like Paul said, that we are basically making our
16:07body a slave to the spirit that is within us, that we have to continue on in the peace and in
16:15the trust of the Lord, because that is what allows for the rest of this in its fullness to kind of roll
16:22out. And so, I would encourage you to go to the video Spiritual Disciplines next, so that you can
16:30learn about some of the disciplines to help mature you as you are walking point A to point B, little
16:36by little, transforming into the fullness of who Jesus Christ is, and everything that He died for you
16:44to be. And I want to leave you with Jeremiah 616, because this is the question, this is the decision
16:52that lies before you. Stand by the roads and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way
17:03is, and walk in it, and find rest for your soul. And that is the most important thing that we can do
17:09on this journey, on this hike, is to find that rest for our soul, to choose the way, the truth, the life,
17:17and to keep trusting in Him as we go, because He will deal with the path that is before us. It's our job
17:24to stay on it. And I want to give a special thanks to the bear, the expert hiker who helped me prepare
17:31for this video today. Just thank you so much. The bear has been through so many personal challenges,
17:39and has hiked not only just about every mountain, has also tackled every mountain that a person could
17:46really personally have and walk through. So thank you so much. I love you. I thank you, the bear,
17:53because the bear don't care. That's exactly the bear for you right there. The bear don't care.
17:59Thank you so, so much for watching. Lord, help us to keep our feet where we need to be,
18:06to hear Your voice, to obey Your Word immediately, so that we are staying on the path from beginning
18:13to the end, so that we can share eternity with You. In Jesus' name, amen. Thanks for watching.
18:29I love you.
