Bendigo Hospital has launched command centre. Here’s why

Bendigo Health chief operations officer David Rosaia explains a new command centre at the Mercy Street hospital.

00:00The command centre, our brand new digital command centre, has been developed over the last four to five months

00:06and it's been introduced two weeks ago.

00:08So it's all about ensuring that we can have real-time data, real-time technology

00:13to understand where the patient's journey is throughout the organisation.

00:17So it's a concept that we modelled from two major metro hospitals in Melbourne

00:21and we're one of the first in regional Victoria to undertake this command centre model.

00:26So if you think about it, it's very much like a flight deck in an airport.

00:31So it's having controllers, our access and demand team have real-time data present in front of them

00:37and they can visualise this data to make real-time decisions to ensure the patients flow from the emergency department

00:43through the organisation and out back into the community at the back end of our organisation.

00:50So it's really important that we have a real close eye on what beds are available

00:54but also how many patients are in our emergency department, how many patients are waiting on trolleys,

01:00how many patients have been planned for elective surgery.

01:03So it allows us to ensure we have the right bed for the right patient in appropriate right time.

01:07We have to look at the left last weekend.

01:08So look at days when it comes to the right patients, how many patients are in the last moment.

01:10So how many patients do visit work for the right patientsutetiaman?

01:12So how many patients can choose?

01:14So what's the right extent of an employment?

01:16The right patient is looking for them to ensure we have countries that I palliate for this part of the right patient's.

01:20I haven't seen children.
