Agra (UP): In a chilling revelation, Agra Police have cracked a blind murder case from February 18, 2024, exposing a brutal conspiracy driven by blackmail.
The victim, Rakesh (son of Lal Singh), was lured to a sweet shop by his uncle Devi Ram (son of Shankar Singh Baghel, resident of Kuboolpur, PS Malpura) and strangled to death. The accused, along with his nephew Nitya Kishore (absconding), stuffed the body into a plastic drum, transported it by loader to a deserted area near the Khari river, and set it ablaze with petrol in an attempt to erase evidence.
🔎 Motive: Blackmail over daughter’s photos
Police investigations revealed that Rakesh was allegedly in contact with the minor daughter of accused Devi Ram. He had secretly taken her photos while bathing and later began blackmailing the family. Enraged, Devi Ram decided to eliminate him.
🕵️ The Cover-Up ● Murder weapon: muffler & iron wire ● Body burnt inside a drum ● Mobile phone, muffler, and wire dumped in the Khari river ● Motorcycle abandoned on the highway ● Accused fled to Delhi, shutting his shop to avoid suspicion
On February 20, 2024, police recovered a half-burnt body near the river. Initial identification failed, and the body was confirmed as Rakesh only after DNA testing, which matched with his mother.
🚨 Breakthrough & Arrest After months of surveillance and technical tracking, a joint team of Malpura Police, SOG, and Surveillance Cell arrested Devi Ram on September 15, 2025, near Jagdishpur bridge. During interrogation, he confessed to the murder. His accomplice, Nitya Kishore, remains absconding.
Police confirmed further efforts are underway to trace and arrest the co-accused.
