00:00Let's take you coast to coast here for the weekend and we're going to jump into a more extended forecast for Halloween and the surrounding days.
00:08Big story this weekend is in the Caribbean with Melissa's flooding, rainfall and devastating wind ramping up into places like Jamaica and surrounding island nations as well, Cuba, and also into places like Hispaniola as well.
00:21So the Dominican Republic and Haiti still facing some major problems.
00:23Comfortable this weekend in the mid-Atlantic, autumn chill winds out in the New England states.
00:28We're going to be breezy but turning warmer in the north-central.
00:31The atmospheric river brings rain and mountain snow to the northwest and also that severe threat brings flooding rainfall to the lower Mississippi Valley and the Gulf Coast.
00:39So there we are, the weekend kind of summarized, but the big story may be kind of a combination of this flooding rain and also what's going on in the Caribbean with Melissa.
00:47Looking farther down the line, there's going to be an even more pronounced dip in the jet stream from late October to early November.
00:54What's that mean to us? That means it opens the door for that cold Canadian air to flow down from across the Great Lakes and from Canada.
01:02And that's going to keep us chilly in the northeast, more and more in the northeast, the mid-Atlantic, the mid-west.
01:09We're going to be showery with that cold air over the relatively mild Great Lakes this time of the year, and that's going to produce more showers.
01:15Now, in your location, your town may celebrate trick-or-treating at different times, maybe scheduled for maybe the 29th of October.
01:23If that's the case, we're expecting to see a big storm system cross the Ohio Valley into the mid-Atlantic states with soaking rain.
01:30That creeps up the coast. This could be a high-impact event the day before Halloween.
01:33So next Thursday, for wind and rain, this could be that trough that may interact with, perhaps, Melissa.
01:41And then into Halloween itself, very wet up in Maine and New England, showers for the northeast, cooler air in its path.
01:48And then into a quick look at November 1st, Saturday, still cool for the east.
