00:00While speaking with U.S. senior military leaders in Quantico, Virginia, Tuesday,
00:04President Trump proposed what he calls high-crime U.S. cities for military training exercises.
00:12And I told Pete, we should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for
00:17our military, National Guard, but military, because we're going into Chicago very soon.
00:24That's a big city.
00:25In the last few months, Trump has deployed National Guard troops to Los Angeles, Washington,
00:30D.C., while threatening to deploy troops to other cities like Portland, Oregon, and Chicago,
00:35Illinois.
00:36Local leaders opposed that decision, but Trump sent troops anyway.
00:41The deployments, along with increased immigration enforcement, led to protests and violence in
00:46some cases.
00:47Trump is now claiming National Guard troops have made D.C. safer than ever, as he touted more
00:52than 1,700 criminals have been taken off the streets with the federalization of the Metro
00:57Police Department.
00:59Washington, D.C. is now a safe city.
01:01In fact, I went out to dinner with my crew.
01:03I haven't done that.
01:05In theory, I wouldn't do it.
01:07And I felt totally safe.
01:10And nobody's been attacked.
01:11Nobody's been hurt.
01:12Now, Trump is eyeing troops to other Democratic-led cities, including Chicago.
01:17Last week, they had 11 people murdered, 44 people shot.
01:23The week before that, they had five people murdered, 28 people shot.
01:27Every weekend, they lose five, six.
01:29If they lose five, they're considering it a great week.
01:32They shouldn't lose any.
01:33Governor J.B. Pritzker calls it a blatant violation of the Constitution.
01:37Federal boots are already on the ground in Chicago, mostly helping with immigration enforcement efforts.
01:56The POSE-KOMITATES Act mostly prevents the military from enforcing civilian laws,
02:02such as making arrests, controlling protests, or doing police work.
