00:00:28The scene of course of the season finale. We stood here 12 months ago thinking that there was no way it could outdo the title deciding round of 2023 but Kyle Ryde and Tommy Bridewell had other ideas.

00:00:46Oh it's done! Oh it's championship is done! It's all out war here on the final day at Brands. Tommy rattles back the championship lead!

00:00:56It all comes down to this. And here comes the move from Tommy. What are we watching here? They touch! They touch!

00:01:07Big rear wheel movement there from Bridewell but it's Bridewell from the reigning champ!

00:01:16This is last corner stood up for the championship. Last corner!

00:01:20It's going to be a run to the line! Bridewell's rear goes! Kyle Ryde is the BSB champ for 2024!

00:01:27God, I've worked so hard for that. Yeah, I don't know how many passes were made in that race but I thought we were enjoying it.

00:01:36What a final race. What we'll be talking about for many years to come. You are the champion on BSB.

00:01:42Despite securing the number one plate for 2025, it was far from a straightforward off-season for Kyle Ryde who was set to continue with OMG Yamaha alongside 2022 champion Brad Ray back from World Superbikes and young rookie Joe Talbot.

00:02:08But just weeks before the season got underway, it was announced that the team would be unable to compete in 2025, leaving two of the main players without a ride.

00:02:18Thankfully, Steve Rogers came to the rescue and relaunched his old Raceway's Yamaha team to provide a seat for Brad, whilst Nitrous competitions came in to salvage OMG Yamaha as a one-rider team with Ryde.

00:02:30Glenn Irwin would remain with PBM Ducati after being in the mix for the last two seasons, whilst Tommy Bridewell was hoping to go one better than the previous year aboard his Honda.

00:02:40Rory Skinner returned with Cheshire Mouldings but this time riding a Ducati and another ex-Grand Prix rider appeared on the grid in the shape of John McPhee.

00:02:49Alongside 2015 Moto3 World Champion Danny Kent, it was set to be a star-studded season and it all got underway at Alton Park in May.

00:02:59The biggest crowd at Alton Park for over a decade and they're all here to see Bennett's British Superbikes.

00:05:14Tragically, only two of the planned three BSB racers would run at Alton

00:05:26after a catastrophic accident during the opening lap of Sunday's Supersport feature race.

00:05:32It claimed the lives of two riders, Owen Jenner and Shane Richardson,

00:05:36to whom the paddock paid tribute ahead of round two at Donington Park.

00:05:44The race winner, Jay Richardson.

00:06:06A smooth, cool, ten-second victory for Kiwi's Shane Richardson.

00:06:24Well done, boy.

00:06:25What delight it is for Owen Jenner to be crowned as the 2023 Pirelli National Junior Superstock

00:06:45champion.

00:06:46With a win and a third place apiece at Alton Park, Brad Ray and Leon Haslam arrived at Donington

00:07:09tied on points still at the top of the standings.

00:07:12But it was Ray who took the upper hand in qualifying.

00:07:15Shaving two tenths off the existing lap record, Brad secured pole position with Leon heading

00:07:20up the second row in fourth.

00:07:25This is Donington Park.

00:07:27A sunny day for Bennett's BSB in 2025.

00:07:33Good start from pole position for Bradley Ray.

00:07:36Kyle Rad in the second place down his own body.

00:07:38Brad Ray and he's up the inside of him now.

00:07:40He comes Brad up the inside in the fog.

00:07:44Yes, it's nice and clean.

00:09:10Brad Ray will secure the treble here at Donington Park.

00:09:15Boy, oh boy, did Brad Ray have to work hard to hold on to that.

00:09:19His second treble of his career, Brad Ray, is so good to have him back.

00:09:30It looks on paper that it's been easy to get the wins.

00:09:34But honestly, especially Donington, Donington was, I wasn't expecting to go there and get three wins.

00:09:42I knew it would be strong, but I knew from testing, Glen was strong, Kyle was strong.

00:09:46So for me, I was just aiming for podiums and obviously try and fight for the win as much as possible.

00:09:55But we made a good direction with the bike, especially after Alton.

00:09:59We actually didn't change anything on the bike on the weekend at Donington, rode the same bike.

00:10:05And I think that was important for me to keep building up the mileage because obviously we haven't had a lot of testing,

00:10:11haven't had a lot of bike time on the VSB bike.

00:10:13I'm feeling good, feeling fit, feeling happy.

00:10:18And that to me is the most important.

00:10:21I need to just carry on what I'm doing, try and win as many races as I can at the start of the year

00:10:25and try and do the best job possible.

00:10:28But maybe when we start getting to the last three rounds, when the points get bigger,

00:10:33then it might be a different sort of mindset and a different look at the championship.

00:10:39But as of now, if you think about the championship too much and you have a DNF,

00:10:45then it throws you off completely and you're worried about the championship already.

00:10:48When, to be honest, it hasn't even really started yet.

00:10:52So for me, it's just turn up, do the best job, try and win the races and go home.

00:10:59That triple was enough to put Brad 12 points clear of Glenn Irwin at the top of the standings.

00:11:09Leon Haslam dropping to fourth, just one point behind Kyle Ryde,

00:11:13with Rory Skinner fifth and Danny Kent down in seventh.

00:11:20Next up was Snetterton and with two wins there in 2024,

00:11:24Glenn Irwin was hoping that this could be the round that he took a grip on the championship lead.

00:11:28It wasn't to be, though. Stick around after the break to find out why.

00:11:35Welcome back to our look back at the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

00:11:40Snetterton was the venue for round three,

00:11:42where Glenn Irwin was hoping to cut down the championship lead held by Bradley Ray.

00:11:47Unfortunately, though, Glenn suffered a massive high side during free practice three on Saturday morning,

00:11:53and that left him with a fractured sacrum in his back

00:11:56and ruled him out for the foreseeable future.

00:11:59In his absence, Brad Ray took pole by almost half a second

00:12:02and carried that momentum into the rest of the weekend.

00:12:07Welcome to Snetterton in Norfolk.

00:12:10It's round three of Bennett's BSB.

00:12:13Can they stop Brad Ray, who starts from pole position?

00:12:17We're underway.

00:12:22Good start from Brad Ray.

00:12:26Tommy Bridewell going up the inside of Rory Skinner into Wilson again,

00:12:29but this time making it stick.

00:12:31That's a 46.5 now for Bradley Ray.

00:12:39That is Lee Jackson, and he's involved with Andy Irwin.

00:12:45Oh, it's a mechanical for him.

00:12:47He's fourth at the moment.

00:13:51and he was looking to back out of that, to be honest.

00:14:15We're running out of words for Brad Ray.

00:14:19The first ever double treble in British Superbike history.

00:14:22He cleans up.

00:14:24If you're one of his rivals, you've got your work out for the rest of the season.

00:14:29It's been unbelievable.

00:14:33I didn't expect to be walking away with a triple.

00:14:36I knew it would be strong coming into this weekend.

00:14:39A lot of people said,

00:14:40do you feel the pressure of coming back and trying to replicate the triple in 22?

00:14:45But I just wanted to carry on the work that we've done at Donington.

00:14:49But yeah, to walk away with three trophies, three wins, fastest lap,

00:14:53and the new race lap record.

00:14:55Yeah, it's been special.

00:14:56So it was turning into a dominant start to the season for Brad Ray.

00:15:02That double treble putting him 30 points clear of Kyle Ryde in the standings,

00:15:06with Leon Haslam in third and Glenn Irwin slipping back to fourth.

00:15:10That meant that Irwin was tied on points with Scotsman Rory Skinner,

00:15:14who'd be looking to do well as the paddock headed north of the border to Knock Hill.

00:15:19With Glenn Irwin on the long road to recovery now,

00:15:22it was announced that 2019 BSP champion

00:15:24and current World Superbike rider Scott Reddin would fill in for him at Hager PBM Ducati.

00:15:30The Knock Hill circuit is a far cry from anything on the World Superbike calendar,

00:15:35but the Ducati man was looking forward to the challenge.

00:15:39Scott, firstly, good to have you back.

00:15:42Yeah, it's been open arms welcome, which is quite nice.

00:15:46Straight to Knock Hill from Rizano is quite different.

00:15:48That's a bit of a shock.

00:15:49And it's been raining.

00:15:50I had my shorts on.

00:15:52Realised that ain't going to work.

00:15:53How did it come about?

00:15:54What's the...

00:15:55I mean, obviously, it came about because of Glenn's accident, but...

00:15:59Yeah, obviously, unfortunately, Glenn had quite a nasty crash.

00:16:03And then we got a bit of a phone call, I think, as did many others, what to do.

00:16:06And I said, I'd be happy to go and have a blast, you know, like Knock Hill.

00:16:11It's a track that's quite characteristic.

00:16:14How many times are you going to be riding it?

00:16:16Can you say anything about it?

00:16:17Uh, Knock Hill.

00:16:18At the moment, that's what we're looking at.

00:16:20And obviously, we've got Donington Park and then a few Clash.

00:16:22So we need to see further down the line what is happening.

00:16:25But as of now, just Knock Hill, ride it and try and enjoy it.

00:16:29It's round four of Bennett's BSB.

00:16:35A 30-lap battle coming your way.

00:16:59He had some good drive through the chicane there and he sits up Kyle Ride.

00:17:14And Brad Ray knew he was coming.

00:17:23He's going through and he sits up Kyle Slater.

00:17:25He holds his line wonderfully.

00:17:26Scott Redding goes through on Storm Stacey, number four on the Hager PBM Ducati.

00:17:35Brad Ray, who makes his move on Rory Skinner and shoves him wide.

00:17:40And Kyle Ride comes through as well.

00:17:41Reasonably harsh, that.

00:17:44It's domination in British Superbikes at the moment for the 2022 champion.

00:17:48Brad Ray takes glory.

00:17:51It is win number eight of the 2025 season.

00:17:57Pretty ominous that.

00:17:58It was at will.

00:17:59That is seven on the bounce for Brad.

00:18:08Brad Ray didn't have it all his own way in race one, but conditions were very different

00:18:12when they lined up for BSB race two and the first wet race of 2025.

00:18:18It will be Brad Ray from pole that leads them through turn one.

00:18:22Ray got the whole shot into turn one and no one could catch him after that.

00:18:26Storm Stacey briefly held second, but eventually would be passed by Rory Skinner

00:18:31before Tommy Bridewell then went and nicked ahead of him to steal the last step of the podium in third.

00:18:37That win for Brad meant that he won eight in a row and nine out of the first ten of the season,

00:18:42matching the record held by his mentor, Shaky Byrne.

00:18:45He'd also start race three from pole position, but breathing down his neck was Rory Skinner in second.

00:18:52Three times Rory had to get the jump on Brad as the race was red flagged, not once, but twice.

00:18:57He pushed his way through again on the third start and the Scotsman was unchallenged all the way to the line,

00:19:03taking his first win of the season and interrupting an almost perfect run from Brad Ray.

00:19:10Home is where the heart is. Rory Skinner wins here at Not Kill.

00:19:17Winning at Not Kill for me is always something that I strive to do.

00:19:21It's my home track. I'm from 25 minutes north up the road.

00:19:24And it's, yeah, with all my friends and family there, it was a good thing to do.

00:19:29And, yeah, you know, to have been able to stop Brad Ray on his winning streak is certainly a special feeling.

00:19:34You know, it was somebody who had to do it at some point.

00:19:36And, yeah, I'm glad I managed to get it done.

00:19:38But it was nice. It was nice to be at Not Kill.

00:19:41Nice to be on the podium in all three races and just to have a bit of consistency.

00:19:44Four podiums in the last five races.

00:19:45It's nice to be heading in a direction where we should be consistently at the front.

00:19:49And I think top five is our goal at the minute.

00:19:51You know, it's a long season. There's a lot of races.

00:19:53And until the showdown comes into form, you know, anybody can kind of be in the mix.

00:19:56So as long as we're going to be in the top five in the races and if a podium presents itself,

00:20:01then, you know, we'll push ourselves for that.

00:20:02But it's just a case of learning and adapting as we go.

00:20:05And if we can be at the front end, which I'm sure that the boys will give me a bike that's capable of doing that,

00:20:10then I think we won't have much problem at all.

00:20:12A combination of two wins for Brad Ray and a difficult weekend in the wet for Kyle Ryde

00:20:20meant that Ray now had a 52-point lead in the standings.

00:20:24Rory Skinner moved up to third, tied on points with the only other rider to win a race this season, Leon Haslam,

00:20:30whilst Glenn Irwin's injury meant that he slipped down to eighth, three points behind Danny Kent.

00:20:35There was also the small matter of who'd cover for Glenn when the championship arrived here to Brands Hatch for round five.

00:20:42PBM's former rider, Scott Redding, in theory, was under contract and unavailable due to his World Superbike commitments.

00:20:50In theory. Find out after the break how that one panned out.

00:20:59Round five of the Bennett's British Superbike Championship took place here at iconic Brands Hatch

00:21:04in the height of summer.

00:21:06In Glenn Irwin's absence, Scott Redding had deputised at the previous round,

00:21:10but that looked unlikely for this one because of his World Superbike commitments.

00:21:14That was until he announced that he'd be splitting with his current Bonovo Ducati team

00:21:18to see the season out here in BSB with Hager PBM Ducati.

00:21:24This opportunity came about and it just felt like the right thing to do.

00:21:28And, you know, I had a good race at Donington as well at World Superbikes,

00:21:31but I just still feel like in my heart for me and my rest of my career and my future,

00:21:37this is where I need to be.

00:21:39We want to have Glenn back as soon as possible and looks like he's recovering very well.

00:21:44I do speak to him actually every other day and like kind of check in with him

00:21:48and he says about Brands and like the bike works good here, etc.

00:21:51and can't wait to share the garage with me.

00:21:53So it's quite nice that we've got that, say, friendship.

00:21:56It also helps a little bit, but I'm not sure really on the future what's going to happen.

00:22:00I guess there's going to be two bikes here, hopefully, and yeah, we can do some good racing.

00:22:05What that decision would mean for Glenn Irwin's long-term future with PBM wasn't entirely clear,

00:22:10but Scott vindicated it in the short term by qualifying on the front row for race one.

00:22:16The rest of the front row was made up of BSB champions

00:22:18and they would all play a part in the Brands Hatch weekend.

00:22:21It's round five and, of course, it's Brands Hatch, the spiritual home of Bennett's British Superbikes.

00:22:32And away we go.

00:22:35Brad Ray will get the whole shot from Christian Hiddin.

00:22:37He just continues to ride the crest of a wave and finally on home turf, he has a BSB victory.

00:22:47His tenth of the season.

00:22:49Just special to win a Brands Hatch home round.

00:22:52Beautiful crowd.

00:22:53Yeah, nice to tick that one off the list.

00:22:55It's a super Sunday of bike racing action.

00:22:58And Brands Hatch is looking splendid.

00:23:00Another rocket start for Brad Ray.

00:23:08The front had gone and Brad Ray for the first time this season has gone down in a race from the lead.

00:23:18The chequered flag is out.

00:23:20The comeback is always stronger than the setback.

00:23:24Scott Redding wins.

00:23:27Scott Redding, the comeback kid, has won.

00:23:31I knew it was going to be hot, but I didn't realise the pace was going to be that hot.

00:23:34But, you know, I hope Brad's OK from the crash.

00:23:36And I'm really happy to have my first win here back at BSB.

00:23:46He's got a big chance.

00:23:48That's Bray.

00:23:48Through Westfield.

00:23:51Two tight sides for Andrew Irwin.

00:23:54That is massive.

00:23:57Right, he's gone through.

00:23:59Yeah, that's to be expected.

00:24:00He's back to winning ways.

00:24:04It's Kyle style.

00:24:06But the big smile is back on the face of Kyle Ryde.

00:24:10About time.

00:24:11Been knocked over since the last one of the race.

00:24:13At this special place as well.

00:24:14So, yeah, that was a great race.

00:24:15I had a great day.

00:24:15So, a first mistake from Brad Ray in race two, but he still had a lead of 34 points over Kyle

00:24:29Ryde in the championship.

00:24:30With two podium finishes, a resurgent Danny Kent had jumped from seventh to fifth in the standings

00:24:35and was looking strong.

00:24:36All the talk leading up to Thruxton, though, was about Glenn Irwin, who declared himself

00:24:43fit to ride again, although his Hager PBM Ducati team weren't so sure.

00:24:47And with Scott Redding also in place, it looked for a while as though they had more riders than bikes.

00:24:53That was until the announcement was made that Irwin and PBM Ducati will be splitting.

00:24:58Irwin left briefly without a ride before joining up with the Nitrous Competitions Yamaha team.

00:25:03You know, I think it's quite clear.

00:25:07I was maybe things where I was wasn't just ideal, I think, for everyone and starting to have

00:25:12a little look at what was going around.

00:25:14And there was like a little joke, you could ride a Yamaha in Thruxton.

00:25:18I was like, yeah, good one.

00:25:20It wasn't really in the pipeline, but as things obviously developed, you know, every cloud

00:25:27is a silver lining as such.

00:25:28And as it was kind of becoming more and more clear that I wouldn't be racing here with

00:25:33the original plans, this opportunity came to life and it's so, so refreshing.

00:25:42And on his first outing, Glenn was able to qualify the Yamaha in 14th on the grid with

00:25:47his teammate Kyle Ride stealing pole position for race one.

00:25:52The defending champion had been quietly building his form in recent weeks and he was looking

00:25:56for more wins.

00:25:57It's round six of Bennett's British Superbikes for 2025.

00:26:05Halfway through this wonderful championship.

00:26:09And we normally get some box office racing here.

00:28:12Webb, although thankfully both of them escaped serious injury.

00:28:15On the restart, it looked like Danny Kent had a lot of work to do, but he kept his composure

00:28:21and cut his way through the pack, moving back up from fourth to take the lead on the penultimate

00:28:26lap.

00:28:27He held off the pressure of Ryden Ray to take his first win of the season in race two.

00:28:38It was a similar story in race three with Christian Hiddon taking an early lead before Brad Ray

00:28:48was able to get the better of him.

00:28:50Danny Kent had his eyes on the prize, though, and he began making moves once again until the

00:34:45do you feel like you're coming good at the right time yet again?

00:34:50I feel like I've been riding good all year,

00:34:53just a few tracks, no one's fault really.

00:34:57We just probably couldn't get a win when we thought we had the speed to.

00:35:00We've said it at every track, haven't we, at the start of the season.

00:35:03Brad was off like a scolded cat, which he has been at every track.

00:35:06We've just figured something out, not with the bike,

00:35:09but just as a team in general.

00:35:11I've just rode it a lot better initially on Friday

00:35:13and it's just put me in a better position come races.

00:35:17I'm definitely riding a little bit better than what I was at the start,

00:35:20but just trying my best to do the best as possible for each race

00:35:23and take as much points as I can.

00:35:30What's your thoughts on it?

00:35:32It's been a difficult couple of rounds, for sure.

00:35:36We had a good championship lead at the start of the year.

00:35:39It's fair to say we had a good run at the start

00:35:41and Kyle's had a good run in the middle of the championship.

00:35:46We've had a couple of DNFs and a couple of tricky races,

00:35:50but the outcome and the positive is we've been fast everywhere.

00:35:54We've been one of the fastest, if not the fastest, at every track

00:35:57and that's what we've got to take from it.

00:36:00We've had a good run, Kyle's had a good run

00:36:02and now we're down to a four-round championship.

00:36:05We've got a big advantage.

00:36:06I mean, touch wood, nothing happens to us both

00:36:09and it would be lovely to see it go all the way to Branzach

00:36:13because me and Brad have raced against each other since we were kids

00:36:15and we've never really had this sort of...

00:36:45You've been mates since you were six years old.

00:36:47What's the dynamic like with you?

00:36:49Yeah, good.

00:36:49No, we've got good respect.

00:36:51Like you say, we've been racing each other since we were kids,

00:36:55since we were young nippers

00:36:56and we've always got good respect for each other.

00:36:59But for me, it's the same for everyone.

00:37:01As soon as we're out on track, we're enemies

00:37:02and you want to beat the person in front of you

00:37:06and that's my attitude and we'll shake hands.

00:37:09We'll probably play a game of golf together and have a chat.
