Emmy Verhey, born on March 13, 1949, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is a Dutch violinist. She began playing the violin at age seven under her father's tutelage and quickly showed exceptional talent. At eight, she studied with Oskar Back and later with notable figures like Bela Dekany and David Oistrakh. At 17, Verhey became the youngest prize-winning finalist at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Her career featured collaborations with prominent conductors such as Mariss Jansons and Riccardo Chailly, and performances across Europe and beyond. She taught at Utrecht's Conservatory from 1983 to 2002 and co-founded the Camerata Antonio Lucio in 1991. Verhey made over 55 recordings, including works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert. Notable achievements include winning the National Oskar Back Violin Competition in 1967 and being appointed Ridder in de Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw in 2001. She retired from performance after her farewell concert on November 29, 2015.
