Spread 173 – My People
18 May 2014
Nova Color paints, image transfers with matte gel, matte medium, cardboard, matte varnish, Tim Holtz Distress Inks.
As I prepare for another weekend spending time with other wonderful creative art journalers at Orly Avineri’s June art journaling class. I think about the people, my people. They get the real me. They understand me. People I feel most at home with.
This spread was created in Orly’s May class.
Also you can join me on Saturday July 19th at Make ART in LA for my new art journaling class:
Finding Yourself – Join us for a day of exploration to discover YOUR style in art journaling. Working with copies of childhood and/or family photos and other images you feel a connection to such as a tree, a chair, or other special object(s), we’ll use paint, paper, pens, markers, found objects, and image transfer techniques to enhance your layouts. This workshop is all about developing and exploring your unique voice through style, color, image, and words. For everyone, all skill levels.
It is a wonderful value at $100.00 for about five and a half hours of art journaling.

How does one develop depth? It doesn’t happen over night. It develops over time. Experimenting, living, learning, working, failing, uncovering, discovering.

I have always enjoyed birds. Birds are beautiful and free. I love watching them and listening to their song in my garden. Birds build their nests with things they find. We should build our journals with things we find, they add interest, depth, mystery, beauty. Be as free as a bird.
