It's been a party-like atmosphere at the Oval. with the Queen's Park Cricket Club hosting its annual nightly football competition thrice a week.

The young and the young at heart come out to have a whale of a time, with bragging rights and other forms of rewards also at stake.

00:00 The CPL may have ended in Trinidad, but the Queens Park Oval is still loaded with excitement
00:05 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.
00:08 This as the QPCC annual 8-A-Side members football tournament is in progress.
00:13 QPCC President Dr. Nigel Camacho said a lot of members attend the tournament with their
00:17 wives, children and friends.
00:20 He spoke highly of the event, which actually started in the 80s.
00:23 "It is one of the most sought after tournaments in Trinidad and Tobago for members of the
00:30 Queens Park Cricket Club.
00:31 And we have many different age groups.
00:33 Everybody thinks they win any World Cup when they play here, so the competition is stiff.
00:38 We have five different age groups.
00:41 So we have from the super seniors over 60, we have 54 to 60, we have 45, so we have it
00:47 all coming down to the under 35s.
00:50 But it's a fun, festive atmosphere inside the Queens Park Oval."
00:55 The QPCC boss said many well-known personalities look forward to the tournament.
00:59 Speaking of which, NTA political leader Gary Griffith was also in attendance.
01:04 "We have a number of personalities that come through and play.
01:07 Fellas, Jeffrey Lake, who used to play for Trinidad, plays in this tournament.
01:11 Graham Rodriguez is here, Scotty Rodriguez.
01:14 You know, we have a number of good footballers that have played college football through
01:18 the years.
01:19 You know, they played for all the various colleges throughout the country.
01:23 And they come here and they look forward to this tournament.
01:27 And they ask, 'What is the date?
01:28 What is the date?
01:29 What is the date?'"
01:30 What's a competition without bragging rights and rewards?
01:33 As is the case with any sporting event, there are prizes on offer for the winners and even
01:38 something for the losers.
01:39 "Each age group has about eight to ten teams.
01:43 And everybody plays everybody.
01:44 You know, and it's a league format.
01:47 The champion is the person with the most points at the end.
01:50 So there's a prize given at the end where we award the champion team most goals.
01:54 And then there's also the wooden spoon for the team that comes last.
01:59 You know, so it's people trying not to come last.
02:03 You know, so it's fun across the board."
02:05 The football competition comes to an end early next month, with the regional Super Fifters
02:10 starting in mid-October.
