Serious leadership is needed to tackle crime head on in Tobago. This from Minority Leader Kelvon Morris as he spoke during a PNM political meeting in Belle Garden Tobago on Sunday.

00:00On the issue of crime, we will support law enforcement through community policing and
00:05advanced technology, ensuring that communities are safe.
00:09Crime is a serious problem, and it requires serious leadership.
00:14Meantime, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with Responsibility for Gender and
00:20Child Affairs, Ayanna Webster-Roy, commenting on the recent incident in Palletiverre, where
00:26Sarah Smith and her two children were discovered dead in a decommissioned wasser tank, said
00:31programs continue to be offered by the government in the various communities across Tobago,
00:37but few are in attendance.
00:39MPs are looking at the comments and people talking about how government should have done
00:45this and how government should have done that.
00:47She said, but when we had an opportunity for women to come together and learn from each
00:53other and how to cope, how to support each other, how to build each other, how many women
01:00turned up?
01:01Mrs. Webster-Roy said the fight against crime must be a collaborative effort.
01:06For us to treat with crime and criminality, we need all of Trinidad and Tobago to understand
01:14that this is not a what-ifs campaign in my mind.
01:20And I said, you know what, for us to treat with crime and criminality, we need all of
01:31Trinidad and Tobago to understand that this is not the government business or the police
01:36business or the Minister of National Security business.
01:41This is all our business.
01:44This is our problem and we have to fix it.
