00:01Previously on Project Runway All-Stars...
00:04How are you?
00:05I'm so good.
00:06Hey.
00:07We've invited two former winners
00:09of Project Runway to join you.
00:11I think it's really unfair
00:12to have returning winners come back.
00:14They're gonna up, and we're gonna be there
00:16to step right up when they do.
00:17I'm gonna split you into two groups.
00:19Your collections will be inspired
00:21by either New York's uptown scene
00:24or New York's downtown scene.
00:26Boys?
00:27Downtown.
00:28Girls, you guys have the uptown collection.
00:30I'll see you on the runway tomorrow.
00:33Oh, .
00:34This detail feels a little bit too bohemian.
00:38Kit's dress would be the one dress
00:39that the uptown girl would not be wearing.
00:44The winning collection.
00:45The boys' downtown look.
00:48Fabio, I love your design.
00:50This dress feels so free,
00:52and I love that juxtaposition.
00:54This week's winning designer is Fabio.
00:57Thank you so much.
00:58I think that's something you want to watch,
00:59is your fabrication.
01:00I don't really feel much from it.
01:02Sadly, you missed me because you made the dress too tight.
01:06The eliminated designer tonight is Patricia.
01:1014 of the best designers from Project Runway are back.
01:17And this time, the competition is bigger than ever.
01:21Each week, their skills are tested to the limit
01:24as they compete for the largest prize in runway history.
01:27Who will be cut?
01:29And who will have it all sewn up?
01:32This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:36This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:49So what do you think today's challenge is going to be?
01:51Uh-oh.
01:53What's behind that gate?
01:56I see the All Stars sign,
01:58and I don't know what's behind this door.
01:59All I can think is,
02:00what in the hell did I get myself into?
02:06Open the door!
02:08Woo!
02:09Woo!
02:10The roller door opens.
02:11Oh!
02:12Oh!
02:13Oh, good God!
02:14Before us is this massive, vacuous warehouse.
02:19Card hat?
02:20Oh!
02:22I don't want to lose a finger!
02:25Good morning, designers.
02:26Good morning!
02:27Welcome to Skylight at Moynihan Station,
02:30one of New York's most cutting-edge Fashion Week venues,
02:34where designers like Philip Lim and Rag & Bone show each season.
02:38But as you can see, it is currently under construction.
02:45So this is your challenge.
02:47It's the one runway fans love but all designers fear.
02:52It's the unconventional challenge.
02:59It's too soon.
03:00Like, can I make a pretty dress or something,
03:02like, out of material that I shop at Moo for?
03:05So, Jay, you won your unconventional challenge your season.
03:08It was amazing.
03:09Basically, I made trash bags look like leather.
03:12Sam, you also won.
03:13We went to a hardware store and to a flower shop.
03:16Helen and Kate, you work together, right?
03:18We made a fabulous dress out of red sombreros.
03:21I've been around the unconventional block a time or two.
03:24It's really tough,
03:25but when you see that piece walking down the runway,
03:28it's all worth it
03:29because it's unlike anything you could ever do with fabric.
03:31Well, the art of construction is a crucial aspect
03:34of the design process.
03:36However, this is probably the least fashionable place
03:40I can imagine.
03:41So your challenge is to take these masculine materials
03:44and turn them into the most feminine outfits possible.
03:48Whatever you can find here,
03:50you can take to the workroom.
03:52The construction workers?
03:56I would love to take a construction worker back.
04:01In their work vests.
04:02You know, maybe just look at them for a little bit.
04:04Woo!
04:05You got to leave the men, but you can take their clothes.
04:08Oh!
04:09You can take their protective gear.
04:11But be careful.
04:12The judges and I want to see how inventive you are,
04:15so you'll be judged on originality
04:17as well as how feminine you can make your designs.
04:20And the QVC accessories will help polish your looks.
04:23You will have 15 minutes.
04:25To what?
04:26What?
04:27To collect your materials.
04:28I see light bulbs and twine and all of these things
04:32that not in a million years
04:33would I think I can make a dress out of.
04:35I will see all of you on the runway tomorrow.
04:39Your 15 minutes start now!
04:44Hey!
04:45Hey!
04:46Hey!
04:47Hey!
04:48Hey!
04:49Hey!
04:50Oh my God!
04:51Okay, let's do this, guys.
04:53We go from team challenge
04:54where everyone is working together
04:56and it's like, oh, let me help you.
04:58Well, that was just rude.
05:00It's like animalistic mayhem.
05:02No!
05:03Don't touch them!
05:04I'll kick your asses in!
05:05I can't have a process what's there.
05:07I'm just like grabbing random things.
05:09Take this.
05:10I saw all these dip ties.
05:12I thought maybe I can create some common pasture.
05:15Oh, honey.
05:16Give this to me.
05:19Where does it end?
05:20For God's sake.
05:24Miss Alexandria gets a little possessed
05:27by the construction demons.
05:30Hey!
05:31Hey, you're stealing my .
05:33Oh, this is your...
05:34I'm sorry.
05:35Alright, you need to relax.
05:36You don't really need to get that worked up about it.
05:38I just feel like there's no need to talk to me like that.
05:40It's just not that serious.
05:42This is Project Runway All Stars.
05:44This isn't kiddie camp.
05:46Time's up, people!
05:48If anyone needs anything, Alex has it.
05:50Ah!
05:51I think that I thought of all the elements
05:52I need to make a garment.
05:54And if people want to judge that, it's fine.
05:56I couldn't care less.
05:57I'm here to win it.
05:58Are you okay?
05:59Woo!
06:00Where's my table?
06:01Look at all these fun tools.
06:02I wish I had a concept at this point, but I just have a trash bin full of hardware supplies.
06:18I have a wound from losing in season 12.
06:24So I'm here on All Stars to show the kids that I teach at Camp Couture that sometimes you don't win, but that doesn't mean you should give up.
06:32And it's about trying again to get what you want.
06:35So here I am.
06:37Since Project Runway season 12, I've been a professor at North Carolina State in the colors of design.
06:45I've been working on my own collection on top of that.
06:51After my season, I did visual merchandising for a living, dressing mannequins, doing product layouts.
06:57Currently, I'm concentrating on making wedding dresses, but winning this whole entire competition could catapult my career to a whole new level.
07:08I want to make a piece of art, not a piece of crap.
07:11I decide to go with a white color palette to create this gown that I'm working on.
07:17But I'm dealing with paper and plastic.
07:20It's not going to flow like chiffon.
07:22It's just not.
07:23Millions and millions of flowers.
07:26This challenge is all about thinking outside the box, and Kate's doing another wedding dress.
07:30Two million to go.
07:33That's your piece, yeah.
07:35I wanted some white fencing.
07:37Thankfully, I had material that I could trade with him.
07:41Thank you, sir.
07:42So all of a sudden, I'm thinking, oh my god, are we doing the same thing?
07:47Well, mine's fitted.
07:49It's going to be fitted, so I'm going to have bond in my mind with black and white.
07:52Maybe there's going to be a vague similarity in part of the concept, but they're not going to be the same thing.
07:58Yes.
07:59Yeah.
08:00We'll see, won't we?
08:01Yeah.
08:02I grabbed the blue tarp because it was the piece that's closest to fabric.
08:09I want to create this feathery looking piece, but as I was cutting it with scissors, the material is not fraying automatically.
08:16Oh, interesting.
08:21Sorry, guys.
08:24Jay is, like, shredding this tarp, making probably the most obnoxious sound I've ever heard.
08:31I had to rip the whole thing by hand throughout the whole entire morning.
08:35It's going to be great, I think.
08:37It's a lot of work.
08:39And she started wiping on the form right away because I know we don't have a lot of time,
08:49so I have to ask quick to achieve the idea that I have in my mind.
08:55I really wanted to do a chevron like this.
08:57Oh, that's pretty.
08:58With, like, hanging Tina Turner shaky beads.
09:01Mmm.
09:02To give it some movement.
09:04Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.
09:08Yeah.
09:09Exactly.
09:10To create this textile, I'm first getting my color palette together,
09:13taking these construction worker vests and painting the orange green,
09:16and then creating strips of different colors.
09:19I want there to be various size stripes in this chevron.
09:22I really want this to be an interesting pattern because I think that's what's going to make the dress.
09:26I'm making the body of the dress from this tarp, and I'm almost done with it, but I think I hate it.
09:33So, I have to go with the plan B.
09:35But hopefully, with my amazing skills, I can make it happen.
09:46I'm looking over at Dimitri's mannequin saying, what is going on here?
09:50It's like, he looked at what I was doing and then started doing it.
09:54Mother .
09:56What's up?
09:57I'm gonna kill him.
09:58Huh?
09:59He had a whole green dress going, and then he was upset about it.
10:03He came over here, and he's looking around.
10:05I noticed.
10:06And then he did that.
10:08Bitch stole your luck.
10:10Now, what am I gonna do?
10:11.
10:16Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
10:19Everyone's a little frantic.
10:22Sanji scraps her entire design and starts over.
10:25This girl could end up naked halfway down the runway.
10:28A naked girl is not a good look.
10:31I have to change it.
10:32Chris, are you making your lower part of your garment from a different?
10:47I'm making it red.
10:48Red.
10:49Okay, good.
10:50Because I was making it black, but I guess you are.
10:54No, I originally had a green base and this rope on top, but I got rid of the green base.
11:00Well.
11:01The only reason that he is upset is that my piece looks better than his.
11:13You okay?
11:15I don't know.
11:17You okay?
11:18You okay?
11:19You okay?
11:20You okay?
11:21You okay?
11:22Since season 10 of Project Runway, I focus on what I really wanted to do with my time,
11:26which is have a fashion label.
11:28So I partnered with my best friend, and right away we put a collection out.
11:32But my company at home is hanging by a thread.
11:35Last week I won the first challenge.
11:37So I do have what it takes to win Project Runway All Stars, and that's what I hope for,
11:41and that's why I'm here.
11:42Oh my.
11:47Hello All Stars.
11:48Hi.
11:49How are we doing?
11:50Hello.
11:51So it's the legendary unconventional challenge, and it looks like you actually brought the entire
11:57construction site into this room.
12:00Now personally, I don't care if you've been given just tarps and nails.
12:04I want to see them transformed into something feminine, dreamy, and most of all, fashion forward.
12:11So I'm gonna see how that's going.
12:13You're quilting it?
12:14I have to like wind the twine here.
12:16Yeah, yeah, no, it's a contraption.
12:19I don't want it to look too mummified.
12:21Right.
12:22She looks like she's just been wrapped in muslin.
12:25So I was immediately attracted to these cords in all different colors.
12:30Wow.
12:31I'm gonna macramate the front, and all these loops are gonna be corseted together with rubber surgical tubing.
12:36Love a corset.
12:37I like things that are tight and sucked in.
12:40But I need it to look like fashion, and I don't want it to be able to look like you're just looking at a load of rope.
12:46Yeah.
12:47So where have we ended up?
12:49Well, I'm kind of knitting the whole piece.
12:52Wow.
12:53So I don't know if I'll be able to finish it.
12:56Yeah, I hear the concern.
12:57Look around the room as well and make sure it's different from everyone else's bungee dresses.
13:02I don't think it's a big deal because a lot of people are using the same materials, so.
13:07They are, but your two for me right now feel the most similar.
13:12Tell me about this hardware detail.
13:14I really wanted to just come up with like an accessory with a hard edge.
13:18This is the standout for me right now, but you just need something else that's feminine as well.
13:23Okay.
13:24I don't know.
13:25I don't like anything shy.
13:27I think you have to do whatever's going to make it not look like burlap with tiles stuck on it.
13:33It looks like two hands grabbing around here.
13:36In a bad way though?
13:37Right now in a bad way, yeah, because she's completely naked.
13:40Wait, wait, wait.
13:41You've got to have an undergarment that really looks quite expensive.
13:45Okay.
13:46I don't want it to look like one of those curtains that separates two rooms in a cheap bar.
13:50This back is beautiful.
13:52You mean this would be lined with this, the whole thing?
13:55Okay.
13:56Just be careful with this as a lining.
13:58Yeah.
13:59Because you know, I don't want to be able to see trash bags underneath her.
14:01Oh.
14:02So you've created your own fabric.
14:04I have and it will go on a chevron pointing down towards the hemline.
14:09Does that feel a bit sporty?
14:11It does.
14:13And I'm a bit sporty.
14:16I hope the judges don't think my kind of sporty style is a non-feminine, more masculine style.
14:23That would be a toot and shame.
14:25All right, so the netting will be on the outside of the dress?
14:27Yes, yes.
14:28Okay.
14:29It's kind of goth and a little bit spooky.
14:31Okay.
14:32Just because something's black doesn't mean it's gothic.
14:35Yeah, you don't want to send a witchy look down that runway.
14:38You want it to keep it more Marchesa.
14:40I'm feeling that this Cinderella-esque moment I've seen you do many times before.
14:47You have to get out of your wheelhouse.
14:49Otherwise Georgina, Isaac and Alyssa are going to just hammer you for not doing something new and original.
14:54It's a runway, Kate, not a wedding aisle.
14:57Tell me what this was.
14:59This was the vest that the construction workers wore.
15:03That's great.
15:04Look, I can't tell it was the vest.
15:05Yes.
15:06Do you think it's feminine enough?
15:09Okay, all-stars, the issue now is to make these pieces look like runway-worthy fashion.
15:16Good luck tonight and extra good luck on the runway tomorrow.
15:20Bye, guys.
15:22After Xana leaves, Sanji is pretty, like, heartbroken.
15:28I didn't get a wow factor from Xana, and because she didn't make me feel that great about it, I just felt like I had to change it up a little bit.
15:35Sanji scraps her entire design and starts over with caution tape, which could look and read just like caution tape.
15:43I'm really concerned.
15:44And she's only got, like, two hours, so holy hell, girl.
15:49This will be the first and last time that I ever use construction items, so that I can promise you.
15:58Hi, watch out for the paint.
16:00Hi.
16:01Watch your step.
16:02You're in a danger zone.
16:03How are you?
16:05I'm all good to see you.
16:07We went to a construction site where there are two gorgeous construction workers, and we have 15 minutes.
16:12Did they whistle at you?
16:13No, they were busy working.
16:16Huge.
16:17It's gonna be heavy.
16:18Whoo!
16:19I'm okay.
16:20I hope that you have something to wear tomorrow.
16:23By the end of the day, I will have a skirt.
16:25Promise.
16:26Thank you for helping.
16:27Go team.
16:28Can I have you just hold it up right there?
16:31Alexandra's look.
16:33She looked like a rat running around in a subway with, like, a chicken wire on her waist.
16:40Turn to the side when you walk through doors, girl.
16:42She doesn't fit.
16:43Ah.
16:44Alexandra's dress looks like the girl was out all night long.
16:48She might still be a little drunk and fell into a construction site.
16:51It was like, oh, I got fence on my skirt.
16:53Oh, damn.
16:54Ugh.
16:55Walk normal.
16:56I mean, not normal, but, you know, like, I am freaking out because nothing wants to do what I wanted to do.
17:01And I don't think it's fair to say, hey, go make a cake and make it taste really good.
17:07But use soap.
17:10Good luck.
17:11Bye.
17:12Bye.
17:13Bye.
17:14No clubbing.
17:15Bye, sweetheart.
17:16Love you.
17:17No clubbing, no hickeys.
17:18Don't ruin their fun.
17:23Hey, guys.
17:2430 minutes.
17:25I have so much to do.
17:26It don't even make sense.
17:27You better work, bitch.
17:28Everyone's a little frantic.
17:30You know, I think that people who have these grand ideas were not able to execute all of them as fast as they wanted to.
17:36And you see that little bit of nervousness starting to, like, peek its way through.
17:44You exhausted?
17:45No, I'm not exhausted.
17:47I'm just tired of people looking at mine and then coughing it.
17:51Ooh, snap.
17:52I hear you.
17:53It's better to be stolen from than to have to steal.
17:55Right.
18:01I don't want it to look bridal-like.
18:04So, thankfully, I got some black dip ties.
18:08And I just started adding that to the top part so it looked like a ombre effect.
18:15It's just to make it a little bit more feminine and elegant at the same time.
18:20Sanjay, do you think maybe just even, like, stitching it with yellow thread once?
18:25Like, aren't you possibly worried that the tape might just...
18:29I am now.
18:30I am now.
18:33Giving it a little stress test?
18:35Oh, it just untaped a little bit.
18:37Did it? Oh, see, that's the worry.
18:40This girl could end up naked halfway down the runway.
18:43A naked girl is not a good look.
18:45Guys, it's time to go.
18:47It's time to drop the glue guns and wire cutters and...
18:50The hope.
18:51And the hope.
18:52Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
18:59Oh, my God.
19:00Justin is a genius.
19:02Can you even feel my finger right now?
19:04Oh, my God.
19:05Jay's look is not even a little feminine.
19:08It's almost like it walked out of a Die Hard movie.
19:10It looks a hot mess.
19:11How the hell did this happen?
19:14Oh, such a mess.
19:15It just looks crazy.
19:16It looks a hot mess.
19:17Oh, my God.
19:18Where were the magic elves?
19:19Who left this mess?
19:20I'm back.
19:21Anybody home?
19:24How you going, Justin?
19:25Good.
19:26Just have to weave all of this and put the line in there.
19:29I'm good.
19:30Benjamin and I had a similar idea at the beginning, but toward the end of the day, our look became
19:48so different, and we are both very relieved.
19:52I need my model.
19:53Hello.
19:54Good morning.
19:55Hey.
19:56Hi.
19:57Still trying to finish here?
19:59Like, at home, I would never do something like this.
20:01Get it, Hoover.
20:02You bust.
20:03I'm in a really good place.
20:05I'm not running around frantically.
20:07I'm actually setting myself up, what I think, for success.
20:10Yes, Casey.
20:11Good job.
20:12Yeah, get the fierce face on.
20:15I think in order for Kate to not make another wedding dress look, we need a challenge that
20:20has to do with, like, funeral or something.
20:23Oh, yeah.
20:24Sorry.
20:25Here she goes.
20:26Oh.
20:27Alexandria's look, I think it's atrocious, and I think it's missing a bird in the cage.
20:35Time to take the models down to the Chi haircare salon.
20:39I'm thinking maybe we should go very young and effortless.
20:43She's off to a cocktail party with, like, a messy knot.
20:46Soft, not so 20s, but it screams it.
20:48Do you love it?
20:49I love it.
20:50I go into the Mary Kay color design studio.
20:56Really simple, soft.
20:57First blush.
20:58Love it.
20:59I want her makeup to be a little bit edgier.
21:00Part of her do the black rag.
21:02Perfect, yeah.
21:03What's the feeling?
21:04Geisha.
21:05Little bit of firecracker?
21:06Pretty.
21:12Don't be afraid to lie.
21:16It looked amazing on her.
21:18I am feeling very confident with my look because I know the amount of work I put into it.
21:25I mean, I can't even feel my finger right now, so that must mean something.
21:30My God, Justin is a genius.
21:33You have no idea what these materials are, and I think that's a true transformation.
21:38I really wish I had thought of that.
21:40Ten minutes, guys.
21:41Ten minutes.
21:42But she'd still get her makeup done.
21:44I would go get her.
21:47Let me know, like, if this leaves a little out of control.
21:50Jay's look is not even a little feminine.
21:53It looks so harsh that it's almost like it walked out of a Die Hard movie.
21:58I'm making a mess.
21:59I'm completely afraid of what the judges are gonna say when they see that walked down the
22:05runway from me.
22:08Five minutes, guys.
22:09Like, seriously?
22:15How heavy is it?
22:16Like, scale of one to ten.
22:18Nine.
22:19My only goal was to be done and actually have an outfit.
22:22Hands up!
22:23Runway!
22:26But I felt really good about it, and I'm like, wow.
22:28Like, go, girl.
22:29You go, girl.
22:30Wait.
22:31We need a clutch.
22:32We need a clutch.
22:33This one.
22:34All right.
22:35Let's go.
22:36Let's go.
22:37Let's go.
22:40Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
22:42This dress showed what a smart designer you are.
22:46You need to up your game a little bit.
22:48I'm sorry.
22:49I can't find anything I like about it.
22:52The winner of Project Runway All-Stars will be given the chance to create their own capsule
22:57collection with QVC and will appear on QVC's Spring Fashion Week.
23:01A fashion spread in Marie Claire and a position at the magazine as contributing editor for
23:06one year, Chi Hair Care will send the winner to stay in a luxury spa resort as a special
23:11guest at their international conference in Cancun, Mexico, plus product and staff for
23:16an entire year of runway shows.
23:18From Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional
23:23makeup artist services for their debut show.
23:26And from Brother Sewing and Embroidery, a complete sewing and crafting studio to launch
23:30their line.
23:31And $150,000 in cash.
23:39Oh, how cute.
23:41Oh, you guys.
23:42That's so sweet.
23:43You're going to make me cry.
23:46Hi, designers.
23:47Hi.
23:48Hi.
23:49This week we took the art of construction to new heights with the Notorious Unconventional
23:54Challenge.
23:55You were asked to transform traditionally masculine materials into feminine fashion.
24:01Let's meet tonight's judges.
24:03First, designer and co-founder of luxury brand Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
24:08Hi, designers.
24:09Hi.
24:10Hi.
24:11Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
24:16Hi, kids.
24:17Hi, Isaac.
24:18Our first guests have simply become pop culture phenomena.
24:22From the Jersey Shore to the red carpets of Hollywood, both have taken their popularity
24:26and turned them into major brands.
24:29On their hit TV shows, they're known as Snooki and JWoww.
24:32But tonight, welcome Nicole Polizzi and Jenny Farley.
24:36Hi, guys.
24:37Hi, guys.
24:38Our next guest came to New York with just $30 in his pocket.
24:45He now runs the largest design studio on Fifth Avenue.
24:49Please welcome back a friend of Project Runway All-Stars, Eli Tahari.
24:53Hi, designers.
24:55This is one of the most anticipated runways of the season.
25:00So let's get started.
25:01Good luck.
25:04I think the whole look is really strong.
25:11It's dramatic and edgy.
25:16She's a warrior, a geisha warrior.
25:19I love it.
25:25It's perfect.
25:28It's absolutely perfect.
25:33It's a fun, flority silhouette.
25:37I'm in really good shape.
25:46It fits her perfect.
25:49The whole picture, you had the hard, you had the soft.
25:52It really embodied the challenge.
25:55I'm really proud of this look.
26:06It does look like fabric.
26:08It doesn't look like tarp.
26:12It looks like leather.
26:13It's kind of cool.
26:15I'm very happy extending.
26:16I think she's absolutely adorable.
26:26It's charming and something that I want in my closet.
26:31I love it.
26:32I think it's super cool and futuristic.
26:45It just looks fierce.
26:46I mean, the fit is impeccable.
26:50I honestly feel like I could be in the top.
26:52I feel like I have a very modern design.
27:03The concept could translate very easily into high fashion fabrics.
27:09I feel like my chances could be good.
27:12My model's walking like she's Beyonce.
27:18It's a really, really pretty look.
27:22The chains are slapping the floor when she walks.
27:28It's awesome.
27:29I like how it looks.
27:37I wish that I had more time.
27:40From the waist up, it's amazing.
27:41I just really wish that I was able to do more with the skirt.
27:45I'm just hoping that I'm safe today.
27:56I'm a little bit disappointed that I did not do as much as I wanted to do.
28:02Oh, hello.
28:05Oh my God.
28:06Your eyes are short.
28:11I wish I had done more and that I could have done what I originally set out to do.
28:30I'm really bummed out and frustrated.
28:42I love the way it moves.
28:45I feel like I really took the challenge and turned it into this very feminine, pretty dress.
28:50I'm proud of myself.
28:58So pretty.
29:00It looks beautiful on her.
29:03The lighting is making the dip-type glitter.
29:06She looks amazing on my way.
29:11I am very happy with it.
29:22Now if I call your name please step forward.
29:24Dimitri and Fabio.
29:27Gunner.
29:29And Benjamin.
29:31Helen.
29:33And Samji.
29:35And Sam.
29:37The seven of you are safe.
29:39Thank you very much for your work and we'll see you next week.
29:43Good job.
29:44Designers, one of you is the winner this week and one of you is going home.
30:01Kate, tell us about your materials and how you use them.
30:04For the bodice, it's the back of what tiles are on.
30:08The flowers that you see are made out of drawer liner as is the skirt.
30:11And then the bus cups are made out of these light bulb cages.
30:15I love and adore that you took the back of tiles to make a souffle.
30:20That's fabulous.
30:22I would like to see it longer somehow.
30:24It looks like a little girl getting married.
30:26It's not a mature person.
30:28For me, this is arts and craftsy.
30:30And almost a little lingerie-esque.
30:33Georgina, what do you think?
30:34Do you agree?
30:35No, I don't actually.
30:37I don't.
30:38I think it's very sweet.
30:40You've managed to transform it into something very pretty, which is so against the grain of going to a construction site.
30:47And I think that's what I like the best.
30:50It's fun. It's light.
30:51When I think of dainty, woman, pretty, that's what I think of.
30:55Totally agree.
30:56And I'm in bride mode, so I have to say this is my favorite and I want to wear it for my wedding.
31:01Thank you, Kate.
31:03Michelle, let's move on to you.
31:05I created the textile and the dress using construction worker vests, paint, and a lot of sweat.
31:12It's very, very creative. It actually reminds me of duct tape. I duct tape everything.
31:16I definitely think it's feminine, which I like to wear.
31:19To pull material from construction and to create this color story, it's amazing.
31:24The colors are beautiful.
31:27Yeah, I think you did a really beautiful job with the textile. I just feel like the silhouette was an afterthought.
31:32I expect so much from you. This is not enough. It just looks like another pretty dress on the dress floor in any department store.
31:40You could have done something very graphic and very clever. I just think you need to up your game a little bit.
31:44Okay.
31:45Thank you, Michelle.
31:46Justin.
31:47I use dip tires and white Benson. It looks amazing and she look very elegant.
31:54Can you turn around? I just want to see the back of it. I love that. That's like some kind of wonderful bird.
32:00The one thing I would watch is the bust line. Under her arms, it's getting a little bit funny.
32:05There's this area that a woman is really sensitive to and I call it boob fat. We don't want any boob fat.
32:10Yes, I hate the boob fat. It doesn't look right. I don't like it.
32:15But otherwise, it's perfection.
32:17I love this dress. It really is like futuristic bird feathers and the proportion is absolutely perfect.
32:24This dress showed what a smart designer you are. You pick the right silhouette for the material. It's absolutely gorgeous.
32:32Alexandra, you're up.
32:33I use tarp for the dress and paint to make it black and I use a plastic fencing material for this part of the dress.
32:42The main part of your body, which is a wonderful idea of having this little black cocktail, is not terribly flattering on her.
32:48And the silhouette is taking it so 80s that it's almost becoming a caricature of itself.
32:54There's something about the texture of that black dress that is upsetting. You're supposed to make it beautiful. And I don't think this is beautiful. I'm sorry. I can't find anything I like about it.
33:05It reminds me of a spider and I'm arachnophobic.
33:09And I feel like it's just a little too costumey.
33:13Elie Tahari.
33:15I think that she's very smart. It's feminine. It's original in design. So you hit the mark on those things.
33:24Jay.
33:26I wanted to create this feathery look to it by fraying the tarp and I wanted to juxtapose it with this really hard necklace using nails.
33:32Lots of people did use the tarp, but I think that you're the only one that used it really, really well. And that necklace.
33:40It's amazing.
33:44The lightness of the dress with the heaviness of the necklace I think works very well. It takes it away from being a tarp. It almost reads like a lacquered tweed.
33:52I love the sleeve. I think that makes it fresh. I don't like the necklace. I'm not one to kind of like a very sharp thing around someone's neck.
33:59I guess there's something dangerous. That's why you like it, Alyssa. She likes dangerous clothes, right?
34:05Like my men.
34:07Ooh, okay.
34:09Do you remember when we tried to make a garbage bag dress?
34:12Did not look anything like that.
34:13This looks like a fabulous garbage bag dress.
34:18Chris.
34:19What I used were these cords, cable ties, some wire. I like this effect. It kind of looks like beading a little bit, so that's why I did it that way.
34:27This actually looks like something I would wear at 3 a.m. with Nicole at a nightclub.
34:33I don't see the high fashion.
34:36The breasts on her left, it just feels like there's gaps, and I'm trying to look for a nipple.
34:41I feel like it's supposed to be that way.
34:42It's lined with stuff so you can't see the nipples.
34:45Well, I'm trying to look for it, so it's distracting.
34:47I don't like the top. I don't think it works in any way. But the skirt, to me, is so fabulous.
34:52The materials look like the materials. I'm not sort of looking, trying to figure it out.
34:57It looks to me like this isn't what you wanted to do.
35:01Yeah.
35:02Okay.
35:03And I changed my design because after I had been working on mine all day, a couple other people changed their designs and they looked like mine.
35:11And I didn't have time to finish.
35:13The advice I give to you is forget what other people are doing. Just be you, Chris.
35:19Thank you, designers. Obviously, there's a lot of mixed reviews here, so we have a lot to talk about.
35:24You guys can go hang out in the lounge and we'll call you back.
35:26Hey.
35:27Hey, guys.
35:28Hi.
35:29It was a mixed range.
35:30It was a mixed range.
35:31I have never won one challenge in the entire project one day.
35:33Oh, wow.
35:34So, I'm crossing my finger about anything that may happen.
35:35Keep it.
35:36Let's start with Kate. I was the only one that didn't like Kate.
35:39I thought it looked expensive. I thought there was a, there was a, there was a, I thought it looked expensive.
35:44You did?
35:45It was an interesting, yeah, I really did.
35:46I thought it looked Frederick of Hollywood catalog.
35:47I thought it was interesting that she came out with something so feminine from such masculine materials, but that was really as far as I would take it.
36:05I wouldn't say it was one of the best, but it was, it was the best.
36:10Get out of the bridal mode.
36:12I don't know.
36:15Justin.
36:16Justin just made it look so beautiful.
36:18I thought it was a perfect little dress.
36:19I like the fact that the black bled into the white.
36:23If you noticed when she was walking, it actually made noise.
36:26People are going to see you, but they're also going to hear you and I like that.
36:29I saw like sort of Jennifer Lawrence on the runway falling in that dress.
36:33I love that.
36:34Only if she's falling.
36:37Jay.
36:38I think he was the only one that used these tarps in an interesting way.
36:41It was a great marriage.
36:42I thought of silhouette and fabric and color.
36:45That color will look good on any woman, I think.
36:48It's true.
36:49It's so striking.
36:50It's very complimentary.
36:51He did a wonderful job.
36:52Now let's talk about our low scores.
36:56Chris.
36:57There was something very creative.
36:59Just the ropes going around.
37:01It's a beautiful silhouette.
37:03But the top was a disaster, but there is something about that design that I found personally very compelling.
37:09I'm interested in who that girl is.
37:13Alexandria.
37:15This was like one of my favorites.
37:17I was so disappointed to hear all of the negativity.
37:20That dress had the glamour, had the femininity, definitely very strong.
37:25It should have been a feminine shape, but unfortunately it flattened her chest.
37:29It made her look straight up and down.
37:31She took tarp and made it look worse than tarp, you know.
37:35We're going to have to fight for this one.
37:37Michelle didn't take a risk.
37:38She went with something I saw in Austin Powers a thousand times.
37:42Alexandria's dress, I couldn't rest my eyes on it for very long because I would start screaming if I had to.
37:47But at least it gave you a reaction where I feel like Michelle didn't even give me a reaction.
37:52I'm looking at her like, I just saw 20 of those.
37:54You're going boring, but there is something elegant about Michelle's dress.
37:57I think it's a good length.
37:59It shows her arms beautifully.
38:01Instinctually I go, Michelle seems like she could bring something to this.
38:05Okay, which one would you go to a black tie dinner, Louise?
38:08I would stay home.
38:11I would starve.
38:16So, are we all comfortable with that decision?
38:21Let's bring them back out.
38:28Designers, one of you is the winner this week, and one of you is going home.
38:35Designers, this challenge really tested your skills as all-stars.
38:49Some of you rose to the challenge, and others, not so much.
38:56Kate, you're safe.
38:57And you can leave the runway.
39:00Good job.
39:01Thank you guys.
39:02Good luck.
39:03Jay and Justin, one of you is the winner this week.
39:09And that designer is...
39:14Justin!
39:15Yay!
39:22Congratulations.
39:23You can leave the runway.
39:25Michelle and Alexandria.
39:26Tonight, one of you will be in, and one of you will be out.
39:27Michelle, this is the winner.
39:28I'm happy that I finally won something.
39:31It's about time.
39:34Chris, you had a low score.
39:37But you are safe.
39:41You can leave the runway.
39:44Michelle and Alexandria.
39:46Michelle and Alexandria.
39:47Tonight, one of you will be in, and one of you will be out.
39:52Michelle, this week you delivered a perfectly fine, simple striped dress.
39:59But that was exactly the problem.
40:01You didn't take a risk.
40:03And again, as a previous runway winner, we expect so much more from you.
40:07Alexandria, your design concept was creative and clear.
40:12But the challenge was to present a feminine look.
40:14And your dress was more like an 80s costume.
40:18This week, the eliminated designer is...
40:31Alexandria.
40:32Which means, Michelle, you can stay in the competition.
40:39You can leave the runway.
40:45Alexandria, thank you so much for joining us here on All Stars.
40:48Wish you all the best for your future.
40:50I'm a huge fan of yours.
40:55I don't feel I deserve to go home.
40:57I know what I'm capable of, and I know what I do, and I know what sells.
41:01It's a...
41:04I'm not a construction worker, guys.
41:07Oh, stop.
41:08There's no tears.
41:10Like, I know what I can do.
41:11It's not construction.
41:13I'm not a crafter at all.
41:15I can't be defined by tarp and plastic mesh.
41:19I don't do plastic.
41:21I do wonderful things.
41:22I know I do.
41:26Next, on Project Runway All Stars.
41:29How about this for an entrance?
41:30Oh, my God.
41:32Your challenge is to create a couture-inspired gown, which conveys feelings of wicked or good.
41:39Let's make this a fashion face-off.
41:41Oh, boy.
41:42We might be enemies in a day or two.
41:45It sucks that I have to go against Chris.
41:47He's one of my closest friends here.
41:49This is boring as hell.
41:51It's Dollsville.
41:52Everybody else seemed to conform to the couture-gown thing except you.
41:55You're surprised.
41:56This dress was not right for this challenge.
41:58It's wonderfully, wickedly wrong.
42:00This dress was not wrong.
42:01We're theeur on camera.
42:02All right.
42:03We're watching you.
42:04We're watching you.
42:05We're watching you.
42:06We are watching you.
42:07We are watching you.
42:08You look out.
42:10We are watching you.
42:11We're watching you.
42:13You then.
42:15We're watching you.
