00:00Hello, everybody, and welcome to Giants Live.
00:22We're in Sacramento, California,
00:24counting down to this year's World's Strongest Man finals.
00:27Currently, some of the most powerful men on the planet
00:29trying to win their places here on the Giants Live qualifying tour.
00:33And for today's action, we head now to London for the Strongman Classic.
00:37It features a stacked line-up of athletes
00:39and also a particularly special setting, the Royal Albert Hall.
00:52Radzi, it's time.
00:53Mark, I don't think I can do it.
00:59I've only got one take at this.
01:01You can do it. Come on.
01:03Roger that. Can't believe he's 59.
01:05Thanks, Big Tell.
01:07The Royal Albert Hall in 1867.
01:08It took four years and six million red bricks
01:12to create this architectural masterclass called the Royal Albert Hall.
01:16It was the dream of Prince Albert, but the dedication of Queen Victoria.
01:20And since Her Majesty,
01:22every single reigning monarch has attended a show here.
01:25Two Edwards, two Georges, a Charles and an Elizabeth.
01:29And as well they might, because adorning these walls,
01:31evidence of the pantheon of pop culture.
01:35Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Beyoncé.
01:39Eric Clapton performed here 200 times.
01:41Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Jay-Z, Led Zeppelin, Luciano Pavarotti.
01:47Muhammad Ali even competed in an exhibition boxing bout here.
01:51Albert Einstein performed one of his lectures here.
01:55And Winston Churchill even orated his wartime speeches
01:59right in this very special place.
02:02And as for what happened in 1901,
02:04well, that was the first ever global bodybuilding competition
02:07with none other than Eugene Sandow.
02:10One of the judges that day was the author of Sherlock Holmes' Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
02:21альное voice was the author of Sherlock Holmes' Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
02:26According to the author of Sherlock Holmes' Sir Arthur Conan Doyle...
02:33Going up.
02:43Ground floor.
02:44Not awkward at all, but how about Giants Live?
02:52Well, that itself has left an indelible mark on an iconic structure.
02:57What a place this is.
02:59World records have been set courtesy of Giants Live.
03:02And how about the loudest noise ever recorded in its over 150-plus year history?
03:11Incredible.
03:12But how, I hear you ask.
03:13Well, that's courtesy of the passion of the strength, athletics fans.
03:18Because when special things happen, we get a special response.
03:22Don't believe me?
03:23Take a listen to this.
03:27Royal Albert Hall, welcome to the best fans in the world!
03:33I love Royal Albert Hall as a venue.
03:43I think it's the most iconic.
03:46It sort of embodies where we were in the past.
03:48But in the past, we were a circus show that was adjacent to the royal activities.
04:00And now we're a legitimate sport being recognized that way in one of the most iconic venues in England.
04:09Getting the opportunity to compete at the Royal Albert Hall, it's just absolutely crazy, like, this is the one.
04:17It's very humbling when I think about everybody that has been on the stage at the Royal Albert Hall.
04:23And now I can count myself amongst one of those great, great people in history.
04:26It's something that I hold very close to my heart.
04:30It makes me feel like all of the sacrifices were worth it.
04:35It's a laundry list.
04:41I mean, I've lost girlfriends, I've lost jobs, I've been homeless, I've lived in my car, but I continue to pursue this crazy dream of being a professional straw man anyway.
04:53And it's led me to the most prestigious coliseum-like theater in the entire world.
05:05I feel like I'm still a rising star. Obviously, I've had almost a dream year. It's been absolutely unbelievable. I've done things I never thought I would.
05:16Every show I'm coming to, I'm feeling stronger, faster. I mean, we're just getting better all the time, which is just what I want to keep doing for the next 15 years or so.
05:24My mother was the one when I said in 2023 that I'm going to quit my pretty, pretty good job in finance to pursue a career of lifting rocks in my garage.
05:35I think it took a lot for her to sort of, I know she always believed in me and she gave me that, like, you do, like, you can always go back to that life, but I agree, like, you've got to go for it.
05:45And ever since I quit my job, that was, for me, the turning point, it meant I could really focus on it, and it just became my life and all-consuming.
06:00I think that the younger me would realize a little bit more that he is worth it and that he is enough and that there's an entire crowd waiting to cheer him on when he goes out there and does what he loves.
06:15I think that that would mean everything to the child version of me.
06:36Well, you can see just how much this event and this venue means to these men.
06:42My heart racing.
06:43But who else have we shoved on the minibus and driven to the Royal Albert Hall?
06:50I've seen him already.
06:52A very special guest here trying to break the Hercudys hold world record tonight, Mark Felix.
07:04Making his debut.
07:07The winner of the official Strongman Games last year, Nick Guardione.
07:10From South Africa, former rugby player, it's Jaco Schoenwinkel.
07:22And another South African, two-time Africa's Strongest Man, Rayne O'Neill.
07:28Did so well at Britain's Strongest Man recently, known as Big Ben, Ben Glascott.
07:39Two-time World's Strongest Man athlete, former collegiate football player, Spencer Remick.
07:45Reigning America's Strongest Man, a brilliant loglifter, Lucas Hatton.
07:54The 2023 Europe's Strongest Man, the 2023 Europe's Strongest Man, came third in this event last year.
08:01Handsome Pavlo Kordiakka.
08:06We're so pleased this guy's back.
08:09Came third.
08:10The Europe's Strongest Man, it's Kieloskowski.
08:12There was a prize.
08:16The most surprising Strongest Man, and most improved, there'll be this guy, Paddy Haynes.
08:22Pound for pound, arguably the strongest man in the world when it comes to pure, raw power, Trey Mitchell.
08:29He's won five Giants Live titles before the former WWE wrestler, Evan Singleton.
08:36And this guy, well, he's set world records in this amazing hall.
08:43The man to beat tonight, former World's Strongest Man, Mitchell Hooper.
08:53So those are your strongmen.
08:54Why not pick a favourite and have a tattoo done?
08:59And this is the first event, Danny, the log medley.
09:01120 kilos up to 180 kilos.
09:05Five logs, 60 seconds to press them all out.
09:08So far, we've seen Kordiakka take the lead with four in 32 seconds.
09:13No one has done all five yet.
09:17So next up in the log medley, a mighty pairing of T-Rex, Evan Singleton.
09:28Looking serene.
09:30Oh, not so much.
09:31Up against the return of the Terminator, Mateusz Kieliszkowski.
09:41Lucas Hatton, America's Strongest Man, giving him some encouragement.
09:44A great log pressure himself, of course, Colin.
09:47Absolutely, yeah.
09:49Probably the favourite for this event, actually.
09:52And it's Kieliszkowski, who we saw at Europe's Strongest Man has overcome that triceps injury.
09:58It looks really strong now in the overhead press again.
10:02It's great the way he flicks it straight from his hips up overhead.
10:05That's the normal technique that Singleton's doing.
10:08And on to the fourth.
10:104 and 32 seconds to beat, and he's done that.
10:14Kieliszkowski takes the lead.
10:17Well, Kieliszkowski takes on the fifth.
10:20It's a solid work from Evan Singleton, but Kieliszkowski on the right-hand side.
10:25He manages it, as does T-Rex.
10:34He was under pressure there.
10:35T-Rex was catching.
10:375 in 45.25.
10:39There's our new leader.
10:425 in 47.22 for Singleton.
10:45He'll be delighted with that.
10:46Look at the way he lifts these logs.
10:51Snatches it up, just rolls it up from the hips and keeps going.
10:55Saves him so much time.
10:57And the last one, well, he had to take it to his chest there.
11:02Impressive stuff.
11:03But there's the early leader then.
11:04But coming up at the Royal Albert Hall, there's more big dogs taking on big logs in our opening event,
11:10including the reigning champion.
11:12That's next on the Strongman Classic.
11:16Well, welcome back to the Royal Albert Hall as we continue.
11:32We can log medley.
11:34Trey Mitchell up next.
11:36Incredibly strong man.
11:38Former farmhand in Texas.
11:40Going up against, well, the reigning America's strongest man,
11:46Lucas Hatton.
11:48Fantastic at this event.
11:51He's about as tall as he is wide.
11:53He's really a unique shape.
11:55Lucas, look at the legs on him.
11:57This guy can just about press anything.
11:59Oh, absolutely.
12:02Not so good at the hurdles, though, as he moves on to the second.
12:07Got his leg over eventually.
12:09Oh, there we go.
12:09Now then, Trey Mitchell.
12:13Just about match him, I think, for power here.
12:16Certainly can for the shoulders.
12:17Look at that.
12:18Number three flies up.
12:21Hatton looking really good, though.
12:22Ooh, tried to snatch it from the waist and nearly got caught.
12:25Well, it's 45 seconds to beat as laid down by Kieloszkowski.
12:30And Hatton...
12:30I wouldn't bet against him.
12:35Easy.
12:37Mitchell might do it as well.
12:39He does.
12:41Well, that's fantastic for both Americans.
12:44Five in 43.22 for Trey Mitchell.
12:46And five in 37.71 for Hatton.
12:51For Hatton, it's more of an Olympic movement.
12:53He's a bit more dynamic for Mitchell.
12:54It's just raw power and pressing.
12:56You'll remember, the top three at the end of the title race
13:04automatically qualify for the World's Strongest Man finals.
13:08You've seen Hooper there.
13:11He took the overall title.
13:14Mighty Canadian.
13:15He can set his mind to anything.
13:20And he'll be going head-to-head with Rayne O'Neill.
13:24Two-time Africa's Strongest Man.
13:26I really want to watch.
13:29I mean, he's two-time Africa's Strongest Man.
13:30He's only been doing this sport two years.
13:33He's extraordinary.
13:35Goodness me.
13:37Wow.
13:40Hooper's just got to recover now.
13:41Just calm down.
13:43Get his heart rate down a little bit.
13:44That was a really bad start for the man who won here last year.
13:48He didn't just win.
13:49He actually broke two world records on the way to winning as well.
13:52So, I'm sure he can calm himself down here and start to catch up.
13:59Rayne O'Neill looks really great though.
14:01First time in a Giants live.
14:02Looks really solid.
14:04Oof.
14:05Did look really solid.
14:07Something wrong there with his right arm.
14:11And Mitchell did exactly what he needed to do.
14:13Just steady the ship.
14:16Now, can he get the fifth up?
14:17Looks like Nell is stuck on that fourth.
14:19And Hooper looks beaten.
14:25Has Nell got it?
14:27No, no.
14:30Nell managed three.
14:3121.44 seconds.
14:34Surprising.
14:36Surprising also with Hooper.
14:38Four.
14:3934.97.
14:41And that means that Lucas Hatton takes this event.
14:45This is a bad moment for Hooper, I think we can say.
14:47You can't teach that.
14:49Nor would you want to.
14:51But Lucas Hatton is with Radzie now.
14:54Lucas Hatton.
14:55It was almost like hurdling the log was the biggest obstacle.
14:58Lifting it wasn't an issue.
14:59Yeah, I'm six foot, but I got a 30-inch inseam.
15:02So, short legs, it was about all I had to get over the logs.
15:05Almost bit it on the first one.
15:07But held the pace.
15:08I knew Trey was right behind me.
15:10And I got it done.
15:11It was a close one.
15:11But talking about your size,
15:13statically, for those at home,
15:14statically, you're one of the strongest men on Earth, period,
15:17amongst these guys.
15:18Yeah, and Trey, I'm glad I was with him
15:21because he's really the only guy in that category,
15:23especially pressing, that can really push me.
15:25And I'm excited for future shows.
15:27Me and him are going to push on events like Log for years to come.
15:30I'm very excited for today.
15:31Thanks for your time.
15:34Lucas looking limber on the timber there.
15:36Six seconds faster than Trey Mitchell.
15:38Kieloskowski and Singleton,
15:40the only other men to make all five lifts.
15:42Hooper down in seventh.
15:43Over to Radzi for event two.
15:47The Hercules Hold.
15:49An iconic event in an iconic venue.
15:53It is the equivalent of a quarter of a ton in each hand.
15:57How these gentlemen do what they do is, frankly, preposterous.
16:00The world record goes back to 2020 with one Mark Felix.
16:06What a feat that was.
16:08Could the record go again today?
16:11And where better for it to happen than the Royal Albert Hall,
16:14the Coliseum of Strength?
16:16Hercules Hold.
16:21This is what it involves.
16:22250 kilos in each hand.
16:24The world record held by Mark Felix is 92.37 seconds.
16:31Well, anyone who gets over a minute is doing well.
16:34And so far, the top six are over one minute.
16:39But we still have some of the best to come.
16:41This man here, Mitchell Hooper, world's strongest man winner last year's Royal Albert Hall champion.
16:50Didn't have the best first event.
16:53Didn't have the best second event.
16:56Well, normally so good at this kind of thing.
16:58Just looked a little off.
16:59So, we move on with Paddy Haynes.
17:05The young Brit, who has just incredible farmer boy grip strength.
17:13He'll be looking to bounce back after that opening event.
17:17Impressive, not his forte.
17:19But does have incredible grip strength.
17:23He looks pretty calm when you see the view he's looking out onto and all the people all around him at the Royal Albert Hall.
17:32He seems very chilled, but he'll be in a world of hurt right now.
17:37As the lactic acid builds up in his forearms and his grip.
17:42Those handles start to pull out of his hands.
17:45The big shake will come on at some point.
17:47But right now, holding firm.
17:48So, one minute, ten to beat.
17:53A psychological game, this, isn't it?
17:55We're going to dig deep.
17:57Find your happy place.
17:59This is very few people's happy place.
18:03It's starting to bite big time now.
18:04You can see he's shaking.
18:06He's moving around a bit.
18:07Trying to just offload some of the pain on the other muscles in and around the shoulders and chest.
18:12I think he can beat one ten.
18:13No, he can't!
18:15Oh.
18:16Well, he wasn't far off.
18:17And he's disappointed by that.
18:20Time stops when those pillars hit the ground.
18:24One minute and seven in the end.
18:29Left hand went first.
18:32And, of course, Mark Felix coming up soon.
18:36Here is a guest just for the Hercules hold.
18:3859 years old.
18:39Evan Singleton.
18:46He just finds that grim determination so early on.
18:50Squeezes his eyes shut.
18:52He's one of these characters who can just go to a really, really dark place and find the determination to pull himself through.
19:04He looks almost a little smile on his face of pleasure.
19:08That's the mentality you need for this kind of event.
19:11And he's no stranger to blocking out pain.
19:18Breathing gently, just keeping the oxygen going in.
19:21He's past 30 seconds without a problem.
19:24He's got some enormous hands and they almost take up the whole handle there.
19:28Getting to a minute is extraordinarily hard.
19:35He just wants to let go.
19:38But he won't.
19:391-10 still to beat.
19:48How close will Evan get to that?
19:52Or will he blast past it?
19:54He shakes his head.
19:55No, he's even trying to pull his arms in.
19:59Oh, he's just done it.
20:00Goodness me.
20:031-11-39.
20:05So Evan Singleton wins that event.
20:11Yes, indeed.
20:11And now just the guest in this contest.
20:14Mark Felix to come.
20:16Evan Singleton did enough to beat the 1-10.
20:19By the time those pillars hit the floor,
20:22he was a second clear and he takes event two.
20:28Evan, you know this venue extremely well.
20:30You've won here before.
20:32You've also pulled out injured here before.
20:33How good is it to be back performing as you are?
20:36Oh, it feels so good.
20:37It feels good to be able to put on all of the hard work
20:40and the sacrifices that I've went through
20:42on display for everybody here.
20:44This venue is amazing.
20:45This crowd is amazing.
20:46I want my title back.
20:48You're always intense,
20:49but something tells me you're in a really good place.
20:52Yeah, yeah.
20:53A lot of things starting to really click
20:55in my personal life, in my professional life.
20:58Things are going amazing
20:59and I couldn't ask for any better circumstance
21:01than to be out here.
21:03Go well today.
21:06Mark Felix then.
21:08He's back.
21:11Officially retired from Strongman
21:13but wanted to give this a crack.
21:17Almost 60 years old.
21:19That's right.
21:20He's an extraordinary human being, Mark.
21:23And when he broke that world record in 2020,
21:26oof, there was a bit of a jerk there.
21:27He didn't have it particularly tight,
21:30but then again it's Mark Felix.
21:32Look at the way he can wrap his fingers
21:33around the whole thing
21:34and lock it in.
21:35He's just got colossal hands.
21:38So his own world record stands
21:42at 1 minute 32.
21:49Tell you what,
21:49the way it jerked at the start there,
21:51it looked a bit like
21:52he wasn't quite holding it tight enough,
21:54but only Mark Felix can take that hit
21:57and not even bat an eyelid.
22:01I don't know what he's thinking about.
22:03If he's thinking at all,
22:04he's trying to block out the pain.
22:06Is he thinking,
22:08I'm five years off my free bus pass.
22:13I shouldn't be doing this.
22:17This is a man who still works
22:18six days a week as a plasterer.
22:21Grit, determination, hard work,
22:24but he's only just hit the minute.
22:25He's starting to shake a little bit.
22:28Two thirds of the way there.
22:30A lot of pressure on Mark Felix.
22:32The crowd are desperate to see him
22:34do a world record.
22:35He goes past Singleton.
22:37He does.
22:39Now the eyes open.
22:42He's looking to that right hand.
22:44He's not happy with it.
22:46Oh!
22:50Well, he came closer than anyone else did.
22:53He was just about, what,
22:54eight, nine seconds off it.
22:56And let's see what shape he's in.
22:58Not bad, is he?
22:58One minute, 22.79.
23:02An incredible result in anyone's book.
23:08Mark Felix,
23:09I know there'll be millions of people watching this
23:11who are saying,
23:1259 years of age,
23:15how?
23:16How are you doing what you just did up there?
23:18You know,
23:19you've got to look up for yourself.
23:20You have to keep training.
23:21You've just got to keep moving.
23:23You know,
23:23I think the most important thing is,
23:25you've got to listen to your body as well.
23:27Look up to yourself.
23:2860 years of age.
23:30Could you be back
23:31trying to break that world record again?
23:33I'll try and come back
23:33and do it again.
23:34I will keep training,
23:36but I would like to break the world record.
23:37You know,
23:38I could break it.
23:38I know I could break it.
23:39The great news is,
23:40you're going to be back, Mark.
23:41Congratulations.
23:43Quite the flex from Felix there.
23:44Turn up,
23:45smash the times
23:46of the world's best strongmen
23:47by 11 seconds
23:48and say,
23:49see you next year.
23:50Evan Singleton,
23:51the next best
23:51with Guardioli III
23:52and Schoonwalkal
23:53beating Haynes
23:54by one-tenth of a second.
23:56Which means,
23:57overall,
23:57Singleton takes a four-point lead
23:59from Schoonwalkal
24:00with three men tied
24:01at a point behind
24:02the South African
24:03and defending champion Hooper
24:04still down in seventh.
24:07It's time to get serious
24:09at the Strongman Classic.
24:11T-Rex is on top,
24:12but there's an array
24:13of past champions
24:14and future greats
24:15ready to challenge him
24:16for the title.
24:18The action continues
24:20at the Royal Albert Hall
24:21when we return
24:22on Giants Live.
24:31Welcome back to London.
24:33It's the Strongman Classic
24:34at the Royal Albert Hall
24:36where the crowd
24:37are providing plenty
24:38of flex appeal
24:39of their own.
24:40Crikey.
24:41With more bicep build-up,
24:43Colin Bryce
24:43and Danny Wallace.
24:44Thank you, James.
24:47Yes, I am known
24:47for my biceps.
24:48And it is the frame carry now,
24:50360 kilos.
24:51It's like carrying
24:52a motorbike
24:53and sidecar.
24:55So far.
24:57No one has completed
24:58the 20-meter course.
24:59Lucas Hatton
25:00has got closest
25:00with 17 and a quarter meters.
25:02And next up,
25:07the pairing of Trey Mitchell
25:08and Mateusz Kieliszkowski.
25:10You're quiet, Colin.
25:11I just want to know
25:12what part of the world
25:13you're known
25:13for your biceps, Danny.
25:15As Kieliszkowski
25:17gets away here.
25:18Looking really strong.
25:20My goodness me,
25:20I think we're going
25:21to have a finisher here.
25:23My gosh,
25:24it was over
25:25before it began.
25:26He nearly took
25:27the stage out.
25:2911.09 seconds
25:31for the Terminator.
25:32Kieliszkowski
25:32and Trey Mitchell
25:34shows how hard it is.
25:35He didn't get it
25:36off the line.
25:37You kidding me?
25:38Goodness me.
25:42He's back with a bang.
25:44No kidding.
25:46The Canadian
25:47Mitchell Hooper
25:48then against
25:49South Africa's
25:51Rayno Nell.
25:52This could be
25:53a quick one,
25:53that's for sure.
25:55Hooper's brilliant
25:55at this.
25:57But Nell's
25:57pretty quick as well.
25:58I think he's
25:59going to pip him.
26:00Oh, wow.
26:02Incredibly fast.
26:04Nell's over the line.
26:058.59 seconds.
26:07Is that a world record?
26:08Yeah,
26:09it's quicker
26:09than Kieliszkowski
26:10but he slid it
26:11over the line.
26:12Or at least
26:12when he tripped.
26:14It's a sliver.
26:14At least a metre
26:15and a half there.
26:16Let's have a look
26:16at this again.
26:18Does he give it
26:19a bit of a push?
26:21Yes.
26:21Wow.
26:22He kind of leans
26:22against the front.
26:23He's been given
26:24a two-second penalty.
26:2510.59 then
26:26for Nell.
26:27Rayno,
26:28let's first of all
26:29talk about the
26:29positive there.
26:30That was
26:31unbelievably quick
26:33all the way
26:34across the line.
26:35Were you happy
26:35until you found out
26:36the result?
26:37Yeah,
26:37I think as soon
26:38as I dropped it
26:39I did look to the referee
26:40so I expected
26:41there might be
26:42some backlash.
26:43Two seconds
26:43is a lot.
26:44Let's hope
26:45it's enough.
26:46But still
26:47I'm in the lead
26:47so let's just
26:48stay positive
26:48for now.
26:49And what it does
26:50go to show
26:51is dynamically
26:52you're one of the
26:53fastest strongmen
26:54in the world.
26:55Yeah,
26:55this is an event
26:56that I really enjoy
26:57so I think
26:58it's something
27:00that I can work on
27:01still.
27:01I think there's
27:02time to beat
27:02but yeah,
27:03I enjoy moving stuff
27:04and I think
27:05that's going to
27:05accumulate a lot
27:06of points for me
27:06in strongmen
27:07competitions.
27:08You're representing
27:08South Africa
27:09beautifully.
27:10Keep it up my friend.
27:10Thank you so much.
27:11Really appreciate it.
27:14The penultimate pair
27:15Paddy Haynes
27:16and Jaco Schoonwinkel
27:18Schoonwinkel
27:22on the far side
27:23also from South Africa
27:24Paddy Haynes
27:25closest to us
27:26360 kilos
27:28no problem
27:29for Paddy Haynes
27:29he's charging
27:30down here.
27:31Incredibly close.
27:34Impossible to call
27:35from where I'm seeing.
27:369.61
27:37for Jaco Schoonwinkel
27:389.66
27:39for Paddy Haynes.
27:41Oh wow.
27:43Just a few
27:43hundredths of a second
27:44in it
27:45and Schoonwinkel
27:45I think it's
27:46a fair result.
27:47Well both men
27:48it with Radzi now.
27:52Two men
27:52that have provided
27:53unbelievable competition
27:55so far
27:56Paddy and Jaco
27:56Paddy I'll come
27:57to yourself first.
27:59I reckon there was
27:59no more than a moustache
28:00in that one
28:01it was very close.
28:02I should have lunged
28:03with the moustache
28:03shouldn't I
28:04have gone for it
28:04but what a race
28:05it's the best thing
28:06you could ask for
28:07it's such a buzz
28:08going against someone
28:09as good as Jaco
28:10as well
28:10and just having a
28:11head-to-head like that
28:12it makes you better.
28:13Absolutely right
28:14well get you going
28:15get ready
28:15thank you very much
28:16and Jaco
28:17it was gun to tape
28:19so so exciting
28:20coming to the UK
28:21and performing like that
28:22when it counts.
28:24Something I only dreamed of
28:26it's incredible to be here
28:27representing South Africa
28:28it's wonderful.
28:30And you're performing wonderfully
28:32is it going to be enough
28:33to get you on the podium?
28:34I'm going to give it my all
28:36for Dex Vance
28:38going to give it my all
28:38and I sure hope so.
28:41We can't wait to see it
28:42go well today.
28:44The final pair
28:45America's Nick Guardian
28:47against America's
28:48Evan Singleton.
28:50Singleton on the far side
28:52Guardian closest to us
28:53and wow
28:55Singleton
28:56great start
28:57even better in the middle section
28:59and over the line.
29:00Very fast from Evan Singleton
29:029.13
29:04I was going to say
29:06it's the fastest yet
29:07then again
29:07Rayne O'Neill had that penalty
29:08but
29:09I think he's number one
29:11here Singleton
29:11that's a friendly gesture
29:14he's
29:16he's here for the win
29:17is he happy?
29:18It's so hard to tell
29:19but he's won two events
29:21well Guardian did a great job
29:25of pushing him
29:26in his first giant slide
29:28but Singleton
29:28just too good there.
29:31So T-Rex on top again
29:33with just half a second
29:34separating Evan
29:35Schoenwinkel
29:36and Haynes
29:37Rayne O'Neill
29:37left cursing his luck
29:39his two second penalty
29:40moving him down to fifth.
29:43With two events left to go
29:45Singleton's lead
29:45is now a mighty five points
29:47over Schoenwinkel
29:48Guardian third
29:49but facing a battle for the podium
29:50with Kieliszkowski
29:51and Haynes
29:52over to Colin and Danny
29:54for the penultimate event.
29:56The axle deadlift next
29:58350 kilos
30:01how many times
30:02can you lift it
30:02in 60 seconds?
30:04How many Danny?
30:06Close to zero
30:07Close
30:10but Mitchell Hooper
30:11has managed seven
30:12and that's
30:14what our next strongman
30:15have to beat.
30:19close to zero
30:20I didn't say zero
30:22Point zero
30:22So Trey Mitchell
30:25going it alone
30:26Yes he was last
30:28in the previous event
30:30so has to go
30:31on his own here
30:32and I think we're going to see
30:34a little bit of a contrast
30:35the event
30:36the moving event
30:37where he could barely fit
30:37into that frame
30:39this is where he'll come
30:41to his fore
30:41static lifting
30:42he's a monster
30:44he's like a forklift truck
30:45Yes he would just
30:48keep going
30:49can't he
30:49just grind them out
30:50Yes 30 seconds
30:52to keep grinding
30:53as well
30:54on to seven
30:55He's equaled
30:58Mitchell Hooper
30:58and now
30:59he has bettered
31:00Mitchell Hooper
31:0120 seconds left
31:04This is such a horrible
31:07bar to lift on
31:08it's so thick
31:09there's no giving it
31:11there's no whip
31:11he's done nine
31:12can he do ten
31:14My goodness me
31:17we're into double figures
31:18and he's not even
31:20wearing a suit
31:20that's extraordinary lifting
31:22it really is
31:23Ten reps
31:25for Trey Mitchell
31:27Fantastic result
31:29The deadlift suit
31:32just keeps you so tight
31:33and gives you so much
31:34in terms of compression
31:35and lift
31:35but he chooses
31:37not to use it
31:37that's an immense amount
31:39of lifting he's done there
31:40so Nick Guardione
31:44and Paddy Haynes
31:46Paddy Haynes closest to us
31:51Guardione on the far side
31:53as Guardione
31:55he gets away quicker
31:56he's a great all-rounder
31:57but Haynes
31:58this is his forte
31:59he's a tremendous deadlifter
32:01I expect to see him up close
32:03to Hooper anyway
32:04around the seven rep mark
32:05maybe a little bit more even
32:07Haynes manages
32:10five straight on to six
32:13straight on to seven
32:16this is to go ahead Hooper
32:19could he put Mitchell's ten
32:25under pressure
32:25surely not
32:26no he's struggling to get the ninth
32:28but I think he's got it
32:29Guardione
32:30getting Dave Warner's help there
32:3215 seconds to go
32:35he didn't get the ninth
32:37they didn't give it to him
32:38didn't lock it out
32:40it was a real battle
32:41and they're both spent
32:43yes Guardione really struggling
32:45towards the end there
32:46Paddy Haynes
32:48he had that rhythm didn't he
32:50that's a fair call
32:52he's just not fully locked out
32:54has he
32:54Jaco Schoonwinkel
32:58and Eben Singleton
32:59are our final pair
33:01Singleton's been having a blast here
33:05you can feel the shake
33:10on the floor
33:11as these guys drop this
33:12this ancient building
33:16being shaken to its core
33:17by these giants
33:19both on four
33:20now on five
33:21he's not the prettiest deadlifter
33:28at Schoonwinkel
33:29talking technique here
33:30he really bullies
33:32and attacks the weight
33:33still looking aggressive
33:36after six
33:37he wants another
33:38both men trying to work out
33:40what the other's going to do
33:41Schoonwinkel's decided
33:42enough's enough
33:42but Singleton
33:43will want to at least
33:45equal Hooper
33:46can he lock it
33:49he gives the referee
33:50the look like
33:51come on
33:51well that's seven
33:54for Singleton
33:55six for Schoonwinkel
33:58he wasn't giving up
34:00on that one
34:01no way
34:02again it's almost
34:03a face of pleasure
34:04with Singleton
34:05he just loves it
34:06seven reps
34:10sees T-Rex
34:10take third this time
34:12alongside Mitchell Hooper
34:13Paddy Haynes in second
34:14but taking the win
34:15with a mighty ten reps
34:17the big thicket
34:18Trey Mitchell
34:18he's with Radzi
34:19Trey Mitchell
34:21that was absolutely phenomenal
34:23but a question
34:24usually you have
34:25the one rep max
34:26as your Eddie Halls
34:27then you have guys
34:28who are good for reps
34:29Mark Felix
34:30Adam Bishop
34:30you're both
34:31how are you doing that?
34:33it's just practice
34:34so you know
34:35like
34:35I'll do one week
34:36where it's
34:37light for reps
34:38and the next week
34:39I'm pushing for
34:40the heavier weights
34:41so it's like
34:42basically trying to push
34:44both at the same time
34:45and building that base
34:46and then peaking for
34:47whichever competition
34:48I need
34:49the max
34:49you know
34:50I'll push that
34:50and then
34:51you know
34:52for competitions
34:52like Giants Live
34:53where it's more repetitions
34:54like I'll push the
34:55sets of reps
34:57good to talk to you Trey
34:58thanks for your time
34:58yeah no problem
34:59Trey moves up then
35:01to 6th place overall
35:02Mitchell Hooper
35:03to 5th
35:04while Paddy Haynes
35:05climbs into the podium
35:06positions
35:07but up top
35:08T-Rex still dominates
35:097.5 points clear now
35:11is he on course
35:14for a 6th Giants Live title
35:16standing between
35:17Singleton
35:18and another honour
35:19are the Stones
35:20and some of the best
35:21Stone lifters
35:22on the planet
35:23our Strongman Classic Finale
35:25when we return
35:26welcome back to London
35:35it's been capital punishment
35:37for our Strongmen
35:38so far
35:39at the Royal Albert Hall
35:40a day
35:40that's pushed them
35:41to their limits
35:42now for the finale
35:43of the Strongman Classic
35:45with just the Castlestones
35:47to go
35:48Evan Singleton
35:49has a commanding lead
35:50but with T-Rex
35:51you never know
35:52Schoonwinkel is second
35:53Paddy Haynes is third
35:55but facing a real challenge
35:56for the podium
35:57from the men behind him
35:58both Hooper and Mitchell
35:59are exceptional
36:01Stone lifters
36:01let's hear now
36:02from Paddy
36:03with Radsey
36:04Paddy Haynes
36:06who knew
36:07that you were that good
36:08at the deadlift
36:09that was superb
36:10what has happened to you
36:11in the last 12 months
36:12yeah it's been
36:13a real wild journey
36:14to be honest
36:14I think since Europe's
36:15getting on that podium
36:16against such a strong line-up
36:18like my confidence
36:19has just skyrocketed
36:20since that
36:20and yeah
36:21just
36:22just believing
36:23that I can actually do stuff
36:24and I belong here
36:25as opposed to having
36:26imposter syndrome
36:26and thinking
36:27how the hell
36:27have I done this
36:28it's like
36:28I know I can hold my own
36:29on most events now
36:30and it's just
36:31just living the dream
36:32you're more than
36:33holding your own
36:34you're very much
36:34flying the flag
36:35for England
36:36it does feel like
36:37a little bit
36:37of a changing
36:38almost of the guard
36:39in the veterans
36:40that's one thing
36:41but the stars
36:42are really shining now
36:44with the youngsters
36:44like yourself
36:45yeah absolutely
36:46the new waves coming through
36:47I think that's
36:48very unavoidable now
36:49I think we're pretty much here
36:50and there are so many
36:51good athletes now
36:52in England
36:52and yeah
36:54I think I'm sort of
36:55leading the charge now
36:56which is really really cool
36:56and just finally
36:57if you did shave off the tash
36:59does all the strength go
37:00I don't want to risk it
37:02I mean do you
37:02this is never going anywhere
37:04I can't grow on me
37:05so the Castle Stones
37:08the climax of this competition
37:10they get heavier and heavier
37:12up to 200 kilos
37:13how many can you lift
37:15and place
37:15in 60 seconds
37:17here's who's gone so far
37:19only Mitchell Hooper
37:21so far
37:22has failed to get all five
37:23but Rayne O'Neill
37:25has done it fastest
37:2624.46
37:28big moment then
37:33for Paddy Haynes
37:34as he takes on
37:36the official
37:36Strongman Games
37:37champion Nick Gardione
37:39when you think Paddy
37:41after the log
37:42was down the bottom
37:42of the pile
37:43and he's clawed his way
37:44back up
37:45to a shot at the podium
37:47this is a massive moment
37:49for him
37:50oh my goodness me
37:51Gardione messes up
37:52the first one
37:53Haynes is flying
37:55on the right hand side
37:56for Great Britain
37:57here we go
37:57number four
37:58look how fast
38:00he's going as well
38:0024.46 to beat
38:02he could win
38:04the Stones
38:05goodness me
38:06certainly take the lead
38:08look at that
38:09well five in 22.88 seconds
38:12that's very fast
38:13from the Brit
38:14Paddy Haynes
38:15lending his encouragement
38:17now
38:17to Nick Gardione
38:19these Stones
38:22are quite slippy
38:23and he just goofed up
38:24on the first platform
38:25and it slipped off
38:26that will have cost him
38:28not just time
38:28but energy
38:29he's struggling
38:31to get under this stone
38:33that's slipping in his hips there
38:39he's not at all
38:40oh goodness me
38:43hopefully he hasn't
38:45smashed his face off that
38:47well done
38:48well done
38:48Paddy Haynes
38:49for taking the lead
38:50just one pair to go
38:53I think that's cemented him
38:54on this podium
38:55I think so
38:57so our final pairing
39:01Jaco Schoonwinkel
39:02Evan Singleton
39:04I suppose
39:09we all have different ways
39:11of getting ourselves
39:12psyched up
39:13that's not one I'd choose
39:13it's not one we'd recommend
39:15now it's uh
39:18yeah
39:19what can you say
39:21Singleton is just
39:22a force of nature
39:24my goodness me
39:25the blood is flowing now
39:26as he pops the third one up
39:29I'm not sure it's helped him
39:30as Jaco Schoonwinkel
39:31goes for four
39:32Schoonwinkel
39:33will make it onto the podium
39:35as well
39:35he won't be as quick as Haynes
39:38but I think he's taken the silver
39:40all the same
39:41now then
39:42if Singleton really screws up here
39:44could he lose his lead
39:46I think the whole
39:49headbutting the plinth
39:50and bleeding profusely idea
39:52was on reflection of the stake
39:55no kidding
39:57and I think he's realising
39:58that now as well
39:59well I think he's done
40:01four quicker than
40:02Guardione
40:02and Hooper
40:03quite that
40:04what that turns out to be
40:07in terms of points
40:07because he's done
40:08he hasn't done all five
40:10oh my goodness me
40:11has he grabbed
40:12defeat from the jaws of victory
40:13well
40:14that's the question
40:16has he done enough
40:17or did he throw it all away
40:18in a moment of madness
40:20oh my goodness me
40:23he's saying please
40:24please
40:25oh he's done it
40:26goodness me
40:27well it was a moment of madness
40:30it could have cost him much more
