00:00Welcome back to Fact Space. We see their logos every day on the road, but the stories behind
00:05the world's biggest car brands are full of drama, accidents, and surprising origins.
00:10Today we're peeling back the paint on car company secrets.
00:141. The Lamborghini Spite Story
00:16Did you know Lamborghini only exists because of an insult?
00:19Ferruccio Lamborghini was a successful tractor manufacturer who owned a Ferrari.
00:24When his clutch kept breaking he went to Enzo Ferrari to complain. Enzo basically told him,
00:29the problem isn't the car it's the driver, and told him to go back to his tractors.
00:34Furious, Ferruccio decided to build his own luxury car to prove him wrong. And thus,
00:39a legendary rivalry was born. 2. Toyota's Weaver Roots
00:43Before they made the Corolla Toyota didn't make cars at all. They started as Toyota Automatic
00:48Loom Works, a company that manufactured high-tech weaving looms for the textile industry.
00:54In the 1930s the founder's son decided to pivot to automobiles.
00:57They even changed the name from Toyota to Toyota, because it only takes 8 brushstrokes to write in
01:03Japanese, and 8 is considered a lucky number. 3. The Volkswagen Beetle Origins
01:09The Volkswagen Beetle is one of the best-selling cars of all time, but its history is dark.
01:15It was commissioned by Adolf Hitler in the 1930s. He wanted a people's car, which is what Volkswagen
01:21means, that was cheap enough for every German family to afford. The design was actually heavily
01:26influenced by Ferdinand Porsche, who later founded the famous sports car company.
01:31Before we continue, don't forget to subscribe to see more of this videos every day.
01:354. The Three-Point Gift
01:37In 1959, Volvo invented the three-point seatbelt. Realizing it was the most important safety
01:43device ever created, they did something unthinkable. They opened the patent. They gave the design to
01:49every other car company for free because they believed saving lives was more important than
01:53profit. 5. The Ferrari Logo
01:56The famous prancing horse on Ferrari cars wasn't originally a car symbol. It was the personal
02:02emblem of Francesco Baracca, a legendary Italian fighter pilot from World War I. After he died in
02:08battle, his mother told Enzo Ferrari to put the horse on his cars for good luck. From tractors to fighter
02:14pilots, these brands have traveled a long road to get to your driveway. Tell me in the comments
02:19section which of these car manufacturing brands you fancy more. See you on the next video.
