Last Updated : 20 Aug, 2025

Microsoft Excel templates provide pre-designed spreadsheets tailored for tasks like budgeting, event planning, or task tracking. They simplify setup by handling layout and formatting, allowing us to focus on data entry.

Step-by-Step Guide to Using Excel Templates

Step 1: Use Built-In Excel Templates

To access built-in templates:

  • Open Excel
  • Click on File > New
  • Browse through the available templates by category or use the search box to find what we need (e.g., Budget, Invoice, Calendar, etc.)

If we already have a workbook open, we can still access templates by clicking File > New.

For example, if we choose a Calendar template, Excel will generate a formatted calendar. All we need to do is enter our data no need to build the layout from scratch.
