Colorado Craft Company Double Duty

Here we are--this is the Double Duty Day!  This is the 27th month, so we are now in year #3

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  We will post both cards on our blog on the the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  We will be sure to have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

For March, the company we showcasing is Colorado Craft Company.  They have so many sweet stamp sets and many are illustrated with Anita Jerman images, which I love!  I picked the Birthday Wishing Stamp and Die Set.  I always need birthday cards!

For the first card, I used a Taylored Expressions Masking Stencil--Ovals. I ink blended with Tim Holtz Distress Oxides in Picked Raspberry and  Kitsch Flamingo.  I stamped the sentiment which is in the set in the oval, with the word "You" right in the middle of the balloon.  I then cut the panel with my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 and backed it with black.  I added some pink enamel dots around the oval.

For the second card, I went with more of  a fun and playful theme, using a background from the Stampin' Up's It's My Party Designer Series Paper Pack.   I stamped the image, colored it with my Copic Sketch Markers and die cut it with the matching die.  I then added a fun border on the bottom with a Stampin' Up Edgelit.   I die cut one of the sentiments from the same set with a Momenta Labels Die.

Both cards are very different, but I used the same image on both.

I hope you enjoyed my cards for our group.  Please be sure to check out the other Double Duty cards. Here is a link to Jeanette'sDarlene’s  and  Carol's blogs.   I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of sets of great cards.

Next month the company we are using is Pinkfresh Studio.  So be sure to check out our cards on April 22nd!

Hot Mess Alcohol Ink

Today is the the 12th and it is time for another Hot Mess card.  This is card number 41, so we are into year #4. The idea of Hot Mess ~ Success is to Get Messy and you will have Success!  Messiness can be almost anything that we come up with--glitter, alcohol inks, glimmer glitz, sponged backgrounds, etc., anything that is a bit messy.  We are a very fun group and will post a card each month on the 12th.  The links to the other members are on my left side bar and I will also link them at the bottom at this post.

For this month's messiness,  I again went back to one of my favorite and messy techniques--using Alcohol Inks!  I took a class last weekend at Stamp Joy that used alcohol inks and I had one panel left from our practicing a few techniques with the inks and a blower.  I made 2 cards with a similar design as we did in class.  I die cut the Pinkfresh Studio Curvey Leaves from the inky panel and also cut one set from white.  I inlaid the white leaves in the colorful background and placed the inky leaves on a silver panel I embossed with my Stampin' Up Painted Texture EF. I then used a set of die cut words that were stacked for the sentiment.  Some Pinkfresh Studio bling were the final touch.

I really like the look of both of these cards and hope you do too.  I also sure hope my fellow messy ladies liked them too!

Here are the links to the other members of Hot Mess ~ Success.  Please be sure to check out Jeanette's, Terry's, Carol's and Darlene's blogs. I am sure you will enjoy seeing how everyone got messy and was successful in making some great cards!   Be sure to check back to see what we are up to on September 12th.

Rainbow Paint Sticks!

This colorful card is for a fun challenge that Jeanette came up with two years called Mission Possible!  Jeanette sent us a mystery item three times in 2020 and asked if we would accept the challenge to make a project with the items even before opening the package!  Of course, Kelly and I said yes, so the challenge is on.  In 2021, we each took turns sending an item to each other.  We are back in 2022 with this challenge and will make a project three times this year with a different item each round!  This Will be Mission Impossible Possible!

For the second challenge in 2022, Kelly sent something for us to use along with the following info: Good Day, Ms. Card-Maker.  Your next mission, should you decide to accept it, involves the use of these rainbow tempera paint sticks.  As in the past, you will be working alongside the same two team members. This message will not self-destruct in five seconds, since I have no ability to do that and besides, you might need to refer to it again at some point.  Good Day and Good Luck!  She also noted that we have been selected to go beyond the call of the M-I-P duty and stretch our creative artistry boundaries.  We were given a full set of tempera paint sticks--art in a box!  There are so many ways to use these and Kelly has no doubt that we will be ready, willing and able to complete the (colorful) mission!

Kelly did send us an entire box full of rainbow colors.  They are from Art Unwrapped and are called Tempera Paint Sticks.   WOWZA--Thanks Loads Kelly!    So--when I see rainbow colors, I decided to use them to make a rainbow background.  I love the bold, bright colors!  I rubbed each of 7 colors of the rainbow paint sticks at an angle over a quarter sheet of cardstock.  I did go back a few times to fill in some white spots and try to blend them a bit--but they do not blend like inks.  I then die cut 3 panels from my Momenta Imperial Trellis Cover plate die in white and layered them together for some fun dimension.  The card base is white, so the panel is adhered directly to the base.  My sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp and CZ Designs called Chunky Hello.  I also die cut the word three times from white and layered on the black shadow for some sweet contrast.  I added 7 Gina K Designs pearls of each color of the rainbow over each of the coordinating stripes.  I like that added touch!

I think I met the challenge--mission accomplished!  I think these sticks are very easy to use and I am sure I will use them again--thanks for the fun gift and challenge Kelly!  I love the Bright Colors!  We will be back later this year with another fun challenge with an item that Jeanette will send to use--stay tuned!

Please be sure to check out the other Mission Possible projects with these fun and colorful Tempera Paint sticks.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card.

Gift Wrap and Scotch Tape!

Today is the third Wednesday of the month and this is my Ready, Set, Go Challenge Card! The 3 Musketeers--Kelly, Jeanette and me--are back with another challenge for January, our 45th month!  That means we are coming to the end of 4th year--YAY!

Kelly provided the challenge for us this month: Welcome 2021!  Typically in January, it's 'out with the old, in with the new!'  For the RSG challenges, that would be too easy.  This month, we will Ring in the OLD, out with the NEW! I'd like for you to take a scrap or leftover sheet of your Christmas paper - any design you like - and use that as the 'designer paper' for your card. But wait!  When we wrap our gifts, we use tape!  So, your second required element is to use clear scotch tape.  Be creative in the way you use it!  You may use a small stamp/sentiment if you like but let your recycled Christmas paper and scotch tape be the star of this new year's show!

Ready, Set, Go!

Yes, Kelly--this is a challenge for sure.  The Christmas paper was not the challenge part as I actually cut apart a gift bag that was under the tree.  The part that made me think hard and often, was how to use the Scotch Tape!  I first thought about covering a piece of acetate and make a circle background for a stamp or die.  The, I thought about layering strips of tape and using that as "cardstock" to die cut some words.  I needed to find small enough words in my stash to fit the width of the tape stack and I found a set of Momenta Script Words.  So--there are maybe 7-8 layers of tape in each stack and I die cut fun, love and shine!  I put a rhinestone for the dot on the 'i" for shine along with three rhinestones on the bottom of the card--I think that is the only bling needed.  I used a strip of Real Red grosgrain ribbon to cover up the line from the fold in the bag.  I think it is a pretty cool Christmas Card!  Thanks so much for a fun challenge this month Kelly and for allowing-making us to really think outside of the box for our creation!

Here is the inside of my card, with another strip of the gift bag:

Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card. I am up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in February
