00:00Previously on Project Runway New Zealand.
00:03This week, it's all about the bling.
00:06Oh, God.
00:08I do love evening wear, but I don't do evening wear.
00:12Paitlyn surprisingly managed to get through this competition
00:14with not such amazing things.
00:16I think complainers pretty much do they?
00:19If they're spaced too far apart,
00:21I don't think you're going to get enough power.
00:23Whoa! Love it.
00:25I don't like Carrie's look.
00:26I don't really like what Carrie ever does anyway.
00:29I frickin' love my dress.
00:31You look amazing.
00:36It's a very mean shoulder that you've created yourself there.
00:39It just looks a little daytime and a little cheap.
00:44Jess, you are the winner of this week's challenge.
00:46Thank you so much.
00:48Kaitlyn, I'm sorry. You're out.
00:52Get in there, nothing. Get in there.
00:54This is your food.
00:59How do you feel?
01:08I hated Jess's one, to be honest.
01:11I don't think it was flattering for the waist.
01:14I didn't think it was flattering either.
01:16I just thought it looked like a caterpillar.
01:18I didn't think it was that amazing.
01:20They thought that Benjamin's one was, like, revolutionary.
01:23And I've seen a song.
01:25I've seen it a million times before.
01:27Yeah.
01:29A lot of the stuff that Benjamin makes, I've made it before.
01:32I just don't get it.
01:34I don't see it as new, I don't see it as fresh,
01:36but the judges love it.
01:37They foam at the mouth for it.
01:39It's sad that Kaitlyn went home though.
01:41Yeah.
01:42Did you help Kaitlyn in this challenge?
01:47No, I never helped her.
01:52Hmm.
01:53My only friend's gone.
01:57It's dumb.
01:59Stuck here with these people.
02:02You're just real clicky.
02:04I think that Benjamin is, like, a really genuine person
02:07and he would just be upfront with me,
02:09so I'm just going to be upfront with him.
02:11I thought that Kaitlyn's work was starting to reflect your work.
02:14You know, Kaitlyn the entire time has always said
02:16that she hates talking about her work.
02:18And I guess it just, she felt that she could talk to me about it
02:21because we had become close friends and that was it.
02:24I just felt excluded.
02:26I felt like, hmm, on the sidelines, like, cool,
02:29I'll just drive you guys around.
02:32Obviously, people had problems with Kaitlyn and I
02:35or problems with me,
02:37but I don't have time for petty bullshit.
02:40We trusted each other enough to give honest opinion
02:43and not be fake and not say anything bad
02:47about each other behind our backs.
02:51Maybe Jess was a bit butthurt that I wasn't her friend
02:54or wasn't as close with her as I am with Kaitlyn.
03:02Designers, hello.
03:03Hi.
03:04We've got a really big technical challenge for you this time.
03:15We must be going in the helicopter.
03:20You haven't got a clue, have you?
03:22Oh, shit.
03:23The lady in red.
03:24Hi.
03:25Hello, Georgia.
03:26How are you?
03:27How are you?
03:28Georgia looks so amazing.
03:29It's my second favourite outfit she's worn.
03:30Alright, designers, one of my favourite things to wear is a suit.
03:45I love to wear it paired back with kicks or to a red carpet ball
03:52to really stand out amongst all of the gowns.
03:55To me, a woman in a suit is unapologetically fierce.
04:00I've done so much tailoring in my time
04:03and I don't think this is going to be a difficult challenge
04:05but it is going to be difficult in the fact
04:07that I'm going to try and push myself past
04:09what I normally think of tailoring.
04:11Remember, designers, tailoring is about structure
04:15and it starts at the shoulder.
04:17It defines the silhouette
04:19and then from there the proportion.
04:22I'm definitely freaking out a bit.
04:25Tailors need to be trained for seven years.
04:28I have zero tailoring experience.
04:31Think classic, sophisticated and sleek.
04:36But also don't be afraid to use a suit as your base
04:39and design to your own aesthetic.
04:41For this challenge you will be getting
04:43the biggest budget you've ever had.
04:48$400 to spend.
04:49What?
04:51That is so good.
04:53Spend wisely.
04:55This is a two and a half day challenge
04:58and you've got half an hour to start sketching.
05:01Up you go!
05:02Let's get out of here!
05:07Guess what you're going to make?
05:08Probably a suit.
05:10What about you?
05:13I'm going to do three pieces.
05:15You're going to do three pieces?
05:16Yeah.
05:17Yeah.
05:18The most tailoring experience in this competition is Keri.
05:22But the one thing that will get me to the top is my passion.
05:26I love taking amends and putting it on a woman.
05:29Oh yeah, oh yeah.
05:31This is where I want to build my career.
05:34I belong here and I see myself at the top three.
05:37I'm a full time pattern maker so I'm quite prepared for this kind of challenge.
05:46I think I'm going to do that idea that I kind of held back for evening wear.
05:49The cape one?
05:50Yeah, yeah.
05:51Oh yay.
05:52I can't wait to see that.
05:53She would look really dramatic I think.
05:56Now that Benjamin doesn't have his usual confidant around him, it'll be interesting to see what he makes.
06:00I'm doing a suede military style lapel-less jacket with matching ruche waist shorts or a wider short.
06:11There are certainly people that are more experienced than I am, but it's not something I'm too worried about because said people have no taste.
06:21Hello designers.
06:24Hello.
06:25We do not want to see what is already out there.
06:28We want to see exciting and you're the fabulous five.
06:31I'm fabulous.
06:32So I expect to see amazing things.
06:37It's a bit blue.
06:38Wow.
06:39I think the jacket would be amazing in that.
06:43It's super muted but I freaking love it.
06:46Even I am a little bit daunted by this challenge.
06:51Shall I just fall over in a stupor of boredom?
06:54Yeah.
06:55Oh ****.
06:56I love this look.
06:57It's just boring.
06:59So I can just imagine how somebody who's never put a tailored jacket together will really, really struggle.
07:06I'm definitely really nervous.
07:08I picked a stiff leather that I've never worked with before.
07:11I will struggle with executing it to be honest.
07:14I'm just going to have to wing it really.
07:17Oh God.
07:20I'm going with shimmery grey and yellow.
07:24Grey is predictable but I wanted to make grey look fabulous.
07:31Is this the most interesting grey that you could get?
07:34Uh.
07:35If you can find another grey in the time that's left, then maybe it's just a bit richer.
07:40Maybe it's something that's more of a silver.
07:43Oh.
07:44This is going to be a tough one.
07:46Something that's got more luster to it.
07:47Yeah.
07:48Full length cape.
07:49The issue with that is that it might look a little bit, little red riding hood.
08:03I'm just nervous about making like a suede tailored military jacket in two days.
08:10I'm really nervous.
08:11It's because it's getting so close that anything can send you home.
08:16But if I pull it off, it's got hot shit.
08:19Okay designers, time's up.
08:21I'll see you back at the workroom.
08:33So cute.
08:35I've been desperately trying to win.
08:37But now that I have a win under my belt, I'm just going to try and keep keeping on with the wins.
08:42I totally think my experience is an advantage in this challenge.
08:45I'm no Benjamin, okay?
08:46I'm more of an underdog.
08:47Underdog.
08:48Wow.
08:49You have to dream.
08:50No one else is going to dream for you, okay?
08:51She's like, ah, I'm winning this.
08:54But in saying that, everything that I know, I've been telling everybody.
08:58That piece comes to there.
09:00This piece comes to here.
09:01Those pieces will go in vila like that.
09:04She's throwing this advice around like confetti.
09:07So there's going to be a seam across here?
09:09Any of us can go down for having a bad sleeve, for having a bad shoulder.
09:13Considering the timeframe, you should really just be concentrating on your own work.
09:17I'm definitely not going to give any advice to people today.
09:20My design for this one is a tailored cape and some tailored trousers to go with.
09:25I'm keeping the aspects of a tailored jacket, but I'm blowing out the proportion of my cape.
09:30It's going to go right to the floor.
09:31But yeah, I think it's very different to what everybody else is doing.
09:35How are you doing?
09:36Just don't know where to start.
09:37Yeah, I don't know if I want to go with this anymore.
09:50I think Benny's going to struggle the most.
09:52My colour is just...
09:54I don't know.
09:55I don't know.
09:56I think that he's already getting inside of his head like he did in the last challenge.
10:01Okay.
10:02Yeah, it's a tough one, this one, yeah?
10:05No.
10:06I thought Benny should have f***ing gone home.
10:11He has dodged so many bullets.
10:14Benny's was like a mess.
10:17The seams were a mess.
10:19It was just a boring, standard dress.
10:22Pretty.
10:23Pretty.
10:24Good.
10:25I'm feeling very pretty.
10:26Good.
10:27It sucks not winning a challenge yet.
10:31I'm worried.
10:32I have resigned from my current job.
10:37Close to the end and anybody could go.
10:41But my goal right now is to win this thing.
10:44Because I have nothing to go back to.
10:51Coming up on Project Runway New Zealand.
10:54Those are huge.
10:55Is it?
10:56I have lots of ideas in my head but I don't know how to put it all together.
11:00Caitlin's not here and you don't have Gracie.
11:04Do I really care?
11:06Not really.
11:07It's a competition.
11:11I'm really confused this morning because I don't have a final design yet.
11:39I don't know if I'm doing this correctly but I hope so.
11:42I have lots of things running through my head like add some 3D bits sticking off the jacket.
11:48Those are huge.
11:49Is it?
11:50Should I make it a coat dress thing?
11:53Should I do pants?
11:55If you want it to be straight.
11:56That's gonna go.
11:58I have lots of ideas in my head but I don't know how to put it all together.
12:03It could be what you're after.
12:05That's what I'm saying.
12:06I'm not sure what you want to achieve you know.
12:08I don't know what I want to achieve either.
12:10So just try it then.
12:14Benjamin.
12:15Your model.
12:16Gracie.
12:17Heidi.
12:18Your former model.
12:19Your former model.
12:20She's still my model.
12:21The thief in our midst.
12:24I won the last challenge.
12:27I chose Gracie because she's just got a lovely long torso and I just wanted that for my tailored look.
12:34So sick.
12:35Caitlin's not here and you don't have Gracie.
12:39Do I really care?
12:42Not really.
12:43It's a competition.
12:44Always wanted Gracie and only want Gracie.
12:47It's just funny that the first person that actually used her went home.
12:51There was no cohesion in your outfit and the bottom was kind of a mess.
12:56I'm sorry Bob.
12:57That means you're out.
12:58You can't separate the yang and the yang.
13:02That's a curse.
13:03I feel like whoever stole her.
13:06Bye bye.
13:08Hello designers.
13:11Hi Andreas.
13:12I'm interested to see how the tailoring challenge is going.
13:16Don't forget to use your Hors and Freer products.
13:19You know all those tailoring elements.
13:21Buttons, fusings.
13:22You know what the range is.
13:23Get on with it.
13:25Benny you're closest so let's get going.
13:28So tell me a bit about what you're doing.
13:30Hello.
13:31Hello.
13:32Surprise.
13:33So excited that George is here to see us.
13:39How are you all?
13:41You never ever thought she'd be coming in did you?
13:44Kind of way more nervous now that she's here.
13:46Let's get some feedback.
13:48Some real feedback today.
13:50Not really for Georgia.
13:51Not yet.
13:52I don't want to show her my design.
13:54Pull yourself together.
13:55Come on.
13:56What sort of look are you going for?
13:57I'm going with an 80s theme look.
13:59Bringing the 80s forward and trying to make it look modern.
14:02Kind of like a suit but chopping it from the bust up.
14:06But it's saturating the waist.
14:08And then I'm going to have these empty hammer pants.
14:11Georgia what do you think of the fabric?
14:14It definitely has to all be the same colour.
14:16I think if it was you know a pant in grey and the top in yellow it might look a bit crazy.
14:21Now I'm throwing the yellow and the grey away.
14:24Got this 100% white wool.
14:26It looks even better.
14:28The white will just uplift the whole thing.
14:31Just remember try and pull off the look.
14:33That's the critical thing with this that you give us a real sense of what it's about.
14:39Benjamin.
14:40Hello.
14:41Tell us about what you're doing.
14:42So I'm doing quite I guess a masculine military style suede tailored jacket.
14:49Very cool.
14:50I love the sleeve.
14:51It's great.
14:52This belt area here.
14:53So that's going to be a suede belt in black suede.
14:55With a buckle?
14:56With a buckle and I'm still deciding.
14:59I think silver looks more.
15:01Yeah.
15:02It's a bit stronger as well.
15:03It looks great.
15:04Awesome Benjamin.
15:06Thanks.
15:07This is looking fabulous.
15:10The look is a jacket that's just kind of like chucked on in a rush and tucked in.
15:16And some super extreme high waisted pants.
15:19It's like super fun silhouette.
15:21I really like things that look like you kind of threw it on but it's structured.
15:24Okay.
15:25Yeah.
15:26How is it going to stay up?
15:27I'm not exactly sure yet.
15:30Because what you don't want is this lapel to collapse.
15:33Because it's going to be a bit of an issue.
15:36Hello Judy.
15:37Hi.
15:38Tell us about what you're doing.
15:40In the end I thought of making an asymmetric coat that's like very long on one side and
15:45hip lengths on the other side.
15:47I thought that would be kind of interesting.
15:49So tell me how you're going to use the two fabrics together in the look.
15:52I want the leather to be through the front panel and the back panel.
15:55And this fabric will be just whatever's rest in the pants.
15:58Technically it's really challenging because this is really stretchy and it's much much lighter than the leather.
16:08I think what I'd suggest you do, you try some different fusings and you make yourself a few little tests.
16:15Don't be worried.
16:16I think your shoulder looks amazing.
16:17The collar will be sensational.
16:18I think she'll be fierce.
16:19Hi Georgia.
16:20How are you?
16:21Exciting.
16:23Tell us what you're doing.
16:24I've done a lot of tailoring before and I kind of just wanted to do something a little
16:25bit different this time around.
16:26So I decided to xnay on the sleeves and I've kind of gone for an old fashioned glam cape
16:38suit.
16:39What do you think about the shape of the leg?
16:42I'm contemplating that.
16:44I would just prefer to see a really fabulous parallel leg that comes out.
16:50Simple.
16:51Otherwise you might just get overwhelmed with a bit too much fabric down the bottom anyway.
16:55Previous weeks I've been told that I've added too much or that I've over embellished.
16:58So I'm trying to pair it back but there's always that risk that it's just going to be a bit boring.
17:02Good luck.
17:03See you.
17:04How are you?
17:05Sleeveless.
17:06Beautiful big cape.
17:07Hi.
17:08How are you?
17:09Hi.
17:10How are you?
17:11Hi.
17:12How are you?
17:13Sleeveless.
17:14Beautiful big cape.
17:15Hi.
17:16Hi.
17:17How are you?
17:18Yikes.
17:19So gross.
17:20She was poached.
17:21She was poached by that one.
17:23Don't be a sad puppy dog.
17:24She loves you.
17:25This is so insulting.
17:29Tashi's model fitting is going really well.
17:36MC Hammer.
17:37It looks amazing on her.
17:41I'm a bit, should I go with the black or should I go with the white?
17:45No, no, no, no, no.
17:46Stick with the white.
17:48The white will just uplift the whole thing.
17:51Can the white pull it up?
17:53I really love how dramatic the campers carry.
17:58Oh, cool.
17:59That's so you.
18:01Yeah.
18:06I'm excited too.
18:07Woo!
18:08See ya.
18:09Bye.
18:20With tailoring, you don't want to rush.
18:21You'd want to be able to take your time.
18:23And I'm not going to be trying to sew this in a few hours.
18:25And hopefully present something really slick to the judges.
18:32Is that your machete?
18:33Oh, that's your...
18:34Sounds like you're going, mmm.
18:36Mmm.
18:37Mmm.
18:38Mmm.
18:42I hate capes.
18:43But see, that's the thing.
18:44That'll be so well made.
18:46And it'll be perfect that he could, he'll probably win.
18:50I'll be with.
18:53Judy, how did your fitting go?
18:56Not great.
18:59Why?
19:00Just everything.
19:02You always surprise yourself.
19:04Don't get down about it.
19:06Judy's really struggling this week.
19:08She's got two really different fabrics.
19:10She's got a stretchy neoprene and she's trying to join it to a really stiff leather height.
19:14It'll be interesting to know with her skill set whether or not she can pull that off.
19:18Kiri, which machine should I use?
19:21I didn't realise tailoring was so complicated.
19:23Are you just not on leather yet?
19:25Um, but if I were to...
19:27That one or the walking foot one.
19:29Okay.
19:30There's also only one chance to sew with leather.
19:32So you have to control your foot.
19:35Oh.
19:36It looks kind of fun.
19:38So, you know, if I screw up, that's it.
19:41I'm going home.
19:46Coming up on Project Runway New Zealand.
19:50I wrote Kermit D Fashion.
19:52I really pulled it up.
19:54A real joy seeing it walk out on the runway.
19:56Oh, it doesn't look that bad the second time around.
20:08Runway D!
20:15Panic with a bit of pizzazz.
20:17I feel good.
20:18I feel confident about the white now.
20:20The main thing with tannering is make sure there is no flaws.
20:24I just got to make sure this garment is to perfection.
20:28If I change my mind tomorrow,
20:30I've got two hours to make up a whole new one in the black one.
20:34Not.
20:37You need high heels on.
20:41You look like one of those inflatable things at the car yard.
20:49Originally, I liked what Jess was doing,
20:51but just after seeing the colour and the fabric and the scale of the pant.
20:55Keep walking. Keep walking.
20:56I'm just not into it, really.
20:59I know it's all, like, for fun when people are, like, joking about it,
21:02but now I'm starting to feel, like, insecure, I think.
21:06Like most of us, when you've been working on something for days on end,
21:10you kind of start to have doubts in yourself and you start to overthink things.
21:13Insecure.
21:16About the shape and style and stuff.
21:19I'm nervous every runway.
21:21Just prepare for the worst.
21:23Yeah.
21:25The only person that I can see also being in the bottom with me is Judy.
21:28I don't like walking with big pieces.
21:32I was a bit worried about joining my fabrics together, but I have fused it.
21:40And hopefully it stays fused.
21:44And just hope for the best.
21:48What aren't you liking about it?
21:52Stuff you can change?
21:54Probably not.
21:55Okay, cool, cool.
21:57So I just keep on going.
21:59Yeah, I just really hope it fits my model.
22:06Got it.
22:10Almost done, Benjamin?
22:12Pretty much, but it's just lots of niggly little things that I hate to do.
22:17I think it could be a winning look because I think it's the coolest look in the room.
22:22I'll have to wait until I've seen it on with the hair, makeup and the shoes.
22:26I have a feeling it might be my favourite.
22:30I've been in the top three every time.
22:33I want to win more than twice.
22:37I'd like to win this one.
22:41Hello, designers.
22:42Good morning.
22:43Hey, Andreas.
22:44Another runway day.
22:46Is that nerves or is that excitement?
22:49Both.
22:50Both? Okay.
22:52Use the Kiwi property accessory all well.
22:54Let's have some really good, sophisticated looks coming onto that runway.
22:58The models will be with you shortly.
23:00You've got two hours to get them to the Maybelline Beauty Zone and the Schwarzkopf Hair Studio.
23:04And I'll see you soon.
23:05See you soon.
23:09Thank you, Harry.
23:11How are you gorgeous?
23:12So good.
23:14Mwah!
23:16You are just amazing.
23:18Oh my God, they're so cute.
23:20We've got a bit of volume in the top.
23:21Oh well.
23:22Next time.
23:23There's a huge gap in the back.
23:24Better than I expected.
23:25Yay, I'm glad it actually fits.
23:26Yay!
23:27I've created something that I'm really happy with.
23:28Done a real nod to traditional tailoring.
23:29I feel fierce.
23:30Good.
23:31Feroche.
23:32Feroche.
23:33I feel like they're just going to eat me alive.
23:35It doesn't feel too heavy.
23:36It feels fine.
23:37It's good.
23:38They're going to criticise it and say it's already something that's been done.
23:42Don't even know if it needs the shoulder pad.
23:43I just don't really feel that confident.
23:44I will.
23:45I will.
23:46I will.
23:47I will.
23:48I will.
23:49I will.
23:50I will.
23:51I will.
23:52I will.
23:53I will.
23:54I will.
23:55I will.
23:56I will.
23:57I just don't really feel that confident going into runway.
24:04I want like a nice brow.
24:05No contour, no colouring or anything.
24:07We'll shape her face with light using our master chrome highlighter.
24:12Okay.
24:13Fabulous.
24:15You're welcome.
24:22So what's the colour and what does your design look like?
24:24So she's going to a winter's yacht party.
24:26All of this pushed up and then have a bun in the back.
24:30Okay.
24:31So what I'm going to use.
24:32Schwarzkopf texturising spray.
24:34Bit of the oil as well.
24:36Just to give it that clean, smooth look.
24:46Looks good, Ben.
24:47I'm just getting sewn in.
24:48Feels really shit.
24:49My construction is horrendous.
24:50I only just reach like a really good place and it would be really disheartening if I went home in this outfit.
25:08A little, a little, a little inconsistencies.
25:09If we get the lining down it should be.
25:10Benny, come on.
25:11Yeah, just.
25:12When she walks it slips and slips and slips and slips and slips.
25:14At the back, because this, let's basically sit like this.
25:15What do I need to do?
25:16Benny, come on.
25:17You've got one minute.
25:18The fastest sewing I've ever seen.
25:19Look serious?
25:20I just hope that the judges don't pick me up on that.
25:22Designers, times up.
25:23When she walks, it slips, and slips, and slips, and slips.
25:28At the back, because this, it's basically sit like this.
25:32What do I need to do?
25:34Benny, come on, you've got one minute.
25:36The fastest sewing I've ever seen.
25:39Look serious?
25:40I just hope that the judges don't pick me up on that.
25:45Designers, time's up.
25:48Judy, come on, out.
25:53Hello, designers.
26:02Hi.
26:03How was this week?
26:05Very good.
26:06This week's challenge, you had to create a look inspired by tailored suiting.
26:11Judy, how are you feeling?
26:13Have you done much tailoring?
26:15I've done no tailoring, so I'm so nervous.
26:18There are five of you here now, but after tonight,
26:22there will only be four.
26:25Time to say hi to our judges.
26:27Editor of Fashion Quarterly, Sally Ann Mullen.
26:31Hi, designers.
26:32Hi, Kelly.
26:33Designer and Director for Worlds, Benny Castles.
26:36Hello, designers.
26:37And finally, our very special guest judge, fashion designer, my personal stylist,
26:43and most of all my friend, Paris Mitchell Temple.
26:47Hey, guys.
26:48As I've been into the workroom, I have a little inkling of what's going to come out,
26:52but I can't wait to see the final outfit.
26:55Good luck.
26:56Are we ready?
26:57Yes.
26:58Let's go.
26:59She looks so amazing and badass, and it turned out way better than I expected.
27:14I'm definitely proud that I somehow managed to use the two fabrics together.
27:21Tailoring-wise, I definitely could have done a better job of that.
27:27Heidi looks unbelievable.
27:45This is my favorite look I've done, and there is nothing I would have done differently.
27:50It's just such a strong masculine but feminine look, and Heidi is just, it's just perfect.
27:57It's just perfect.
27:58I love my pants.
28:19I think they look so cool and fun, and I love the fabrication, and I do love the design.
28:25I think it's so cool and quirky.
28:32I'm just hoping for the best.
28:34I honestly think it's something that the judges will either love,
28:36or they will absolutely hate it and rip it to shreds.
28:39Yes, girl.
28:53I'm just happy.
28:54I'm ecstatic.
28:56The one little issue I have is that little piece that's holding the jacket.
29:01She's just gliding down, her cape's flowing behind her.
29:24She just looks like such a strong, confident woman.
29:31I think I love it so much because it's really true to who I am as a designer.
29:34I really blind myself away this week.
29:36Well, designers, well done.
29:45You have made that a very challenging decision for us.
29:48I'm just amazed that all of you came up with something so different.
29:51Three of you will make it to the final, but only one of you will be named.
29:57The winner of the very first Project Runway New Zealand.
30:03Let's bring out your models.
30:16Judy, can you tell us about your look today?
30:19I wanted to do something more structural and an asymmetrical style coat.
30:25I love Forest Green and you've done a really great job coming up with this design
30:30and especially using such a tough fabric like that heavy leather.
30:34I wrote Kermit de Fashion and that's a good thing because Kermit's cool.
30:38We all know this.
30:39Is there a reason that there's another tab on the other side of the front?
30:43I think I just didn't stitch it down.
30:45Oh right, okay.
30:46There's definitely some elements to the construction where there are problems,
30:49but exactly what you're aiming for you have achieved.
30:52Fierce and strong and confident.
30:54I have to agree.
30:55I love the juxtaposition of the fabrics.
30:58The craftsmanship is amazing.
31:01Thanks so much.
31:06Benjamin, can you tell us about your suiting look today?
31:09So I wanted to do something that was really chic and sharp and sexy,
31:12but quite masculine and oversized a little bit.
31:15I think the shoulder is amazing.
31:16I think it looks really expensive.
31:18That suede is divine.
31:20Love that we use that big buckle.
31:23I don't know if it's your absolute strongest look we've seen from you,
31:27but I would wear it.
31:28So it's pretty good.
31:30I really like this look too.
31:31I think it's fun.
31:32It's tomboyish.
31:33I can see a lot of women wanting to wear this overall.
31:36Really impressed.
31:37I wrote, Stevie Nicks goes to the office.
31:39But I think we can cross that out and put Sally Ann Mullen.
31:42Perfect.
31:43The pinching in at the waist makes for an exaggerated shoulder
31:48and creates a gorgeous silhouette with the shoulder.
31:50But it's a little bit safe from you, Benjamin.
31:55The silhouette does not quite speak as loudly as in previous weeks.
31:58And I think what we've expected from you is chic and elegance,
32:02but also pushing that envelope, challenging us and showing us new concepts and ideas.
32:06The utilitarian details, like the epaulets on the shoulder, the vent at the back.
32:12I thought it was so neat.
32:13Hard working with suede as well.
32:15I think she's styled beautifully.
32:19Jess, can you talk us through your look today?
32:21I knew straight away that I just wanted to do something that was super fun
32:24and created a sort of different proportion of a suit.
32:28I wanted to just have trousers that were right up under the bust
32:31and I wanted to tuck the jacket in and, yeah, do something voluminous
32:35and just crazy and fun and bouncy and I love the colour and I love how Gracie looks.
32:40I adore the colour. It is definitely a fun look.
32:43It's very brave too and you really pulled it off.
32:48I love this look too. Gracie looks amazing.
32:50I think it's brave and fun and it was just a real joy seeing it walk out on the runway.
32:55I love that you've exposed the décolletage area.
32:59I think that's the most beautiful part of the female form.
33:02Such a bold colour choice and it worked so well.
33:05I love it. Thank you. Yeah.
33:07The construction and the finishing is not quite extraordinary.
33:11But the volume and the shapes and the proportions are incredibly unique
33:15and I just want to say congratulations.
33:18It's really challenging, refreshing, exciting work.
33:21Thank you so much.
33:22Benny, can you talk to us about your look today?
33:25My girl was going to a Winter Luxe yacht party.
33:29I wanted to deconstruct my jacket and get rid of the shoulders.
33:33Benny, in the workroom I was so excited to see your twiles on the form.
33:38Was this front piece in an initial design?
33:42Every time she walked it spread open.
33:44I just added this pant and just hold it all in together.
33:47I love the pants. I love the whole idea of it.
33:50I love that, you know, she was this woman going on a yacht.
33:54So I think it's probably the fabric choice in this one
33:56that's let down your incredible design that I saw.
33:59It just needed to be a little bit more form-fitting to her.
34:03The fabric does feel like you're in twirling stages still a bit.
34:08I do really like the concept.
34:10One of my favourite musical genres is yacht rock.
34:13And I think that's really fun but it is stuck for a moment in the 80s.
34:17I really commend the adventure and the playfulness
34:20but it hasn't quite been a bullseye, unfortunately.
34:24Kerry, can you talk us through your look?
34:26I wanted to pair the really feminine jacket with the really masculine trousers
34:30so I've gone for a full pleat and tux at the front of it
34:32and a nice wide leg with the styling trying to mimic the shape of the cape
34:36and the shape of her hair as well.
34:38And I feel like she's just looked really strong and confident
34:40and ready to take on the day.
34:41She sure does. The tailoring looks amazing.
34:44I love how it's fitted around her waist.
34:47I think it looks really, really luxe.
34:49I just love it.
34:52I just wrote one word down on my card, drama.
34:55Because when she walked out on the runway
34:57and in the screen behind, the big cape silhouette looked amazing.
35:01You certainly know how to tailor.
35:03There's elements on your garments that look really complicated and hard to do
35:06so I'm super impressed that you've done it in the timeframe.
35:10Bespoke tailoring is without individuality and personality
35:13and you've embodied that beautifully.
35:16Yeah, absolutely blown away.
35:18The thing I like to think about with women's suiting is
35:20when you put her in a boardroom, sitting around a table with men
35:25who just get to wear dark suits and white shirts and patterned ties,
35:28is she going to sit there with that confidence and strength of personality
35:31to actually be on the level and above those gentlemen
35:34who have the easy task of getting dressed in the morning
35:37and blow them away?
35:38And I would say yes, she does.
35:40Okay, so we've heard what you've got to say.
35:46Andreas will bring out your models so we can have a closer look
35:49and then I'll call you back to the runway.
35:52Thank you, designers.
36:07Hello, Andreas.
36:08Hello, judges.
36:09Kia ora.
36:10Hello.
36:11An exciting week.
36:12Challenging.
36:13Tia, do you want to come through?
36:15It is very impressive.
36:17I just love that Judy challenged herself and did something asymmetric
36:20in quite an unusual colour with a really dramatic playful neck.
36:24I think she's got a lot more drama within her than she lets out
36:28and I think that's where her strength lies.
36:30I do almost wish that the entire jacket was a leather.
36:34It just weakens the outfit as an entire look to me.
36:39I'm not 100% on the tech fabric.
36:43But it's comfortable, isn't it?
36:44Yeah, really comfy.
36:45You could go to work and then jazzercise immediately.
36:48Yeah, it's kind of fun.
36:49It's modern.
36:50I like the tech fabric.
36:52And the colour is just gorgeous.
36:54Yeah.
36:55Yeah.
36:58Heidi, come through wearing Benjamins.
37:00I just love the sleeves and the cuff.
37:02I love this so much.
37:04It is very what I would wear.
37:05I love the shoulder, the epaulettes, the little details on it
37:09really elevate the look.
37:11It definitely doesn't challenge my mind.
37:13As much.
37:14Yeah.
37:15I have to say.
37:16Should we undo the belt and see what's going on?
37:17Yeah.
37:18Without the belt, what does the jacket look like?
37:20It needs a belt to make it a strong look.
37:25You want to see so much more from him.
37:27I know he's got beautiful taste.
37:29There's a safety in that taste.
37:31Yeah.
37:32Yeah, he hasn't pushed it.
37:36Gracie, wearing jazzes.
37:38This is fun and brave, isn't it?
37:41The adventure of it is formidable.
37:43The play on the proportions is incredibly intelligent.
37:46The length of the pants.
37:47Yeah.
37:48So smart.
37:49The slight flare in the sleeve.
37:51And the really narrow to her arm.
37:53I just think it's really cool.
37:55Yeah.
37:56She's definitely playing to her strengths and you can see her signature.
37:59But I feel like each week she is really pushing herself.
38:01Trying things she's never done before and never seen before.
38:04The pants could be a half inch lower.
38:09It's maybe a little bit up there.
38:11Yeah.
38:12There's a bit of area here that could have helped, you know, tailor that in.
38:16I mean, the tailoring is actually pretty gorgeous.
38:19Yeah.
38:20It's not perfect.
38:21However, that adventure is what is so exciting about Jess as a designer.
38:28And Tashi wearing bennies?
38:30Who's taking this?
38:31It sort of fell off.
38:33It looks so much better.
38:35We just carefully removed it.
38:37It looks so much better, doesn't it?
38:39Yeah.
38:40It just doesn't compete in your mind.
38:41I love, like, 80s and I love that pant and the shape.
38:45But it needs to have darts in the front or be more form-fitted or structured for it all to work and still look luxe.
38:54You just kind of want to pull it more like that.
38:56Oh, yeah.
38:57Look at that.
38:58Just to get a bit more shape.
38:59Voila.
39:00That looks sexy and amazing and really flattering.
39:01I love where he was trying to go with it.
39:04But his execution and the fabric choice just really made it fall flat.
39:09But crazy what getting rid of that line across the chest has done for this outfit.
39:14Christina wearing Kerry's.
39:15Well, this is dramatic, isn't it?
39:16There's so much he gets right about this outfit.
39:17Kerry is someone who looks like he's so full of ideas and so much fun and spirit and shape and proportion and concept that sometimes he forgets to finish designing the outfit.
39:35But in this garment, he has been perfect in his editing.
39:38I do often think that Kerry has so many skills.
39:42It is a lot of bells and whistles and I love that this is simple.
39:45Could have been superhero-ish almost.
39:47But he's really, like, he's actually pulled it off.
39:50I do wonder about it being canvas on the inside.
39:53It makes it look a little bit messier than it could have been.
39:56If it was, like, almost a satin underneath, it would just elevate it even more.
40:01But all in all, I think those pants are fantastic.
40:04How it comes in around the body.
40:07He's done an incredible job.
40:10Okay, judges.
40:11Have we made a decision?
40:12Exciting week, but I've got a winner.
40:14Me too.
40:15Let's bring them back out.
40:17Designers, one of you will be named the winner.
40:38And one of you will walk.
40:46Kerry, your design was impeccable.
40:49The look was glamorous.
40:51And your editing was perfect.
40:54Well deserved.
40:55Congratulations.
40:56You're the winner of this week's challenge.
40:59You may leave the wrong way.
41:00Thank you all.
41:01Yes, take your bow.
41:02Well done.
41:05I was really happy with my review.
41:06I've been waiting for tailoring.
41:08And it turned out that the direction that I was going in was exactly what they were wanting.
41:12I'm really excited that I'm going to be able to be here for another challenge and express more of that.
41:19Jess, you gave us the most exciting silhouette on the runway.
41:23I love your colour and fabric choice.
41:26And you were very brave.
41:28Well done.
41:29Thank you so much.
41:30You can leave.
41:31Benjamin, I love and would definitely wear this, but it wasn't as stand out as the others.
41:46You're safe.
41:48You can leave the runway.
41:49Why are we so far away?
41:50You got this.
42:03You got this.
42:04Benny, I was very excited about where you were going with this look.
42:09Your design ideas are really great, but your construction and your fabric was sloppy.
42:20Judy, tailoring is supposed to flatter the body and your look fell short.
42:26I appreciate your colour choice, but we all agreed that the base fabric might have let you down.
42:41Judy, you're safe.
42:44You can leave the runway.
42:47Benny, I'm sorry.
42:48No, it's okay.
42:49That means you're out.
42:50But you have been an absolute pleasure to have on.
42:51Every week you've brought us something new.
42:52You're an absolute angel.
42:53Thank you so much.
42:54Thanks for coming on.
42:55Hello.
42:56Good boy.
42:57Well done, everybody.
42:58I am super proud of myself.
43:02Time for me to go home.
43:04This experience has been the most amazing experience I've had.
43:07You're a wonderful place.
43:08I'm happy to be so happy to be with you.
43:09Just a nice bit.
43:10Get a tiny little bit of a party.
43:11We're a lovely ride.
43:13You've been an absolute pleasure to have on.
43:14Every week you've brought us something new.
43:15You're an absolute angel.
43:16Thanks for coming on.
43:18Hello.
43:19Well done, everybody.
43:20I am super proud of myself.
43:22Time for me to go home.
43:25the most amazing experience I've had the best time of my life. Hello guys. Hi.
43:32Kerry, how do you feel? Worked really hard on that outfit so I'm really glad. I think
43:38you really play to your strengths and I think that that discipline really showed
43:41in this one and I think you did really well so congratulations. Thank you. And
43:46you over there you're gonna leave a big big gap. How do you feel? I feel great
43:51and it is my time and I'm ready to go. Aww. Yeah. On that note then, go and pack your
43:58stuff. Thank you so much. It's been lovely. I'm gonna miss you. Alright. Okay. Bye guys. Bye.

44:21Eat every moment of it. Next week on Project Runway New Zealand.
44:28For this challenge, we're asking you to create a taster look that epitomises your design aesthetic.
44:36I've done a lot of collections myself. I think I'm up to my 30th collection at Karen Walker.
44:40I feel very nervous. I have no idea what I'm doing. I've never designed a collection.
44:47I don't know what it's supposed to look like. If Judy got through over me, it would really f*** me off.
44:56This is the look where you've shown us the most superb amount of taste.
45:01I'm so proud of you. This just walked like a dream. I'm pretty obsessed with it.
45:05I've vividly seen the gorgeous afterlife in time.
45:06Let me see when you look after the manifestation of Mikanoia temple Io持ov
45:09Project Runway.
45:09If you were imaginable as a boss, you can't be a person.

45:17The door will be a little bit worse.
45:18The door will reveal it.

45:21I'm a little bit more excessive because I can meet you when I'm in the lobby.
