Lost Transmissions is a collection of music created by Dub Cmd in 2019, which we never released, since the original files were never available to us ... the pc on which the productions were done was stolen and with it all the music. We have nevertheless managed to find the latest versions before the files were "lost" and we decided to share it to everybody as a free download 

 

This small musical treasure includes self-released or unreleased work of the artist, as well as some collaboration with O.L.M. from Italy and "deep music" specialist Mantsche from Austria with his first appearance on the label. These tracks were never released before! Last but not least, we included Still, a bonus dub-stepper track based on a poem by the legendary Count Ossie.Give thanks for downloading and listening, Guidance and love!

R-Juna - Rockers Dub

One year after his debut release Dubs And Praises, the USA producer Roy Waterford aka R-Juna is back with his second album entitled Rockers Dub.

His new release is a collection ten new tracks, all dubbed in the R-Juna style and with Colton Lantz on the guitar on two tracks of the album. A special moment of this album is the four dub reworks of songs by the Grateful Dead (Franklin’s Dub & Fire On The Dub), The White Stripes (Seven Nation Dub) and The Doors (Riders Of The Dub).

Dub Cmd & SistaSara - Follow The Bassline

Being the most prolific producer of 2020, Dub Cmd is back with his third single. Debuting in 2019 with the EP Moonsteppa & the first collaboration EP Deeper Understanding with the Italian born producer & singer SistaSara, the UK based producer from Poland releases in 2020 a series of crucial vibrations: The 2-part EP Way To Zion ft. Sister Maki, the singles Leaving Babylon Behind ft. SistaSara and Blessed ft. Soul Fire  and the compilation Explorations In Dub Vol.2 / Lockdown Dub, in which he was actively involved as artist and executive producer.

Follow The Bassline is Dub Cmd’s new release and the last one in a series of three singles. Once again he collaborates with SistaSara  on a riddim presented in three versions, which has all ingredients that trademarked his heavyweight dub style: inspiring vocals, heavy basslines and deep steppa grooves.

High & I - Almighty Thunder

High & I is a dub and reggae project by the UK producer Chris Nottingham based in Middlesbrough. Before discovering the dub sound, High & I's roots stem from the D.I.Y punk scene as a drummer in an active Punk band and exploring some of the boundaries between what can be defined as music or noise. The project was established in 2019 after discovering the love for the soundsystem scene, its unifying message and the sheer force of the bass. High & I is also the founder of Teesside Dub Club, leading the dub revival in Middlesbrough.

The Almighty Thunder E.P is the first official EP from the High & I studios, featuring on two tracks Micky Sparra (Mickey Sparrow), vocalist of the UK punk band 'The Almighty Uprisers”, referencing to the producer’s musical background. Special thanks to Dub Cmd for the mastering.

Dub Cmd & Soul Fire - Blessed

Lee “Scratch” Perry’s 70‘s classic “Soul Fire” was the ignition for the songwriter and singer Vassilis Savopoulos a.k.a “Jah Smiley” from Thessaloniki to form in the beginning of 90’s “Soul Fire”, the first reggae band in Greece. It has been almost thirty years since then and probably no one could have ever imagined, that this reggae band would record their first album with the internationally renowned dub producer Mad Professor from Ariwa Records and play as the opening act for the legendary band of Bob Marley, "The Wailers”. Well-known artists participated in that first album: drummer “Sinclair”, member of Lee Scratch Perry’s band “Roboticks”, Aisha on the backing vocals, Cofi and Mafia from “Mafia & Fluxy” plus MC Fredi Kruga.

Fast forward in year 2019, Soul Fire visit Cyprus for a performance at the Reggae Sunjam Festival and thanks to the organisers of the festival, local and international artists who were also participating had the chance to meet each other and build a bond. Artists became friends, new connections were established and good things fired up some new collaborations. The friendhip worked as a boiler, cooking some brand new vibrations!

God, love, inner self, consciousness and justice could be the keywords for someone searching behind Soul Fire’s songs. «Marley was the light and Burning Spear was the mystic spirit of reggae for me»  says Jah Smiley. Nuff respect Aki Mittoo for the spiritual melodica cut, adding the missing link to this conscious journey and to Versioncos  for the amazing artwork!

Dub Cmd & Sister Maki - Way To Zion II

Dub Cmd, the UK based dub producer from Poland and the Japanese singer Sister Maki from Osaka, return with WAY TO ZION II. The first part was released earlier this year and part two continues with six more tracks: three vocal tracks in English and Japanese ina Far East style and two dubs, plus one instrumental riddim cut as a special bonus.

Stefanosis meets Soulfyah Productions - Dubplate Situation

After his collaboration with the German saxophonist Samson Benji, the USA producer, instrumentalist and singer Stephen Moore aka Stefanosis is back with some fresh vibrations. This time he collaborates with Soulfyah Productions from Germany on four riddims.

His new release is entitled Dubplate Situation and includes 5 tracks: four vocal tracks on riddims composed by Soulfyah Productions voiced by Stefanosis in a dublate style, plus a very special melodica cut.

Explorations in Dub Vol.2 / Lockdown Dub

The first Explorations In Dub compilation was released back in year 2013, showcasing the works of many artists from around the world and their personal approach on dub music. In the present time of  COVID-19, most producers have been in a lockdown. Nevertheless their  creativity did not stop and some fresh ideas started to sprout while in isolation. So it was time, seven years later, for a Vol. 2, showcasing again many great outernational projects.

Aza Lineage & Culture Horn - I Give Thanks

Culture Horn Sound System, the heavyweight Russian dub sound system from the town of Kremenki in the Kaluga region in Russia, returns with a new EP. After the first release in year 2018 and the great feedback it received from listeners all around the world (I am a Rootsman was awarded Best Album of 2018 in Russia and “Best Indie Artist” for Madi Simmons), the sound system crew returns with a new collaboration, this time featuring the Jamaican uprising artist Aza Lineage.

Aza Lineage was born to teenage parents in the harsh inner cities of Kingston, Jamaica in late 1980s. She grew up with her extended family with hergrandmother being the head of the household. Growing up Aza realized she could sing and would often do so for friends, schoolmates and family members. On searching she found Rastafari, the Energy she thanks for changing her thinking, brought African Spirituality to her awareness and connected her to her roots, hoping to impact people in a positive way through her music.

The new EP of Culture Horn includes six tracks: 2 vocals tracks and 4 instrumentals/dubs. The first one is a special dubplate on the Roots Radics Riddim, recorded exclusive for Culture Horn Sound System., followed by a flute version ft. Aktuch and the necessary dub. The second one is the title track. With lyrics to spark your mind, I Give Thanks is followed by a special melodica dub by Med Dred and a heavyweight cut by Culture Horn Sound System.We give thanks!

Dub Cmd/SistaSara/Aki Mittoo - Leaving Babylon Behind

Being one of the most active artists on the label, the UK dub producer Dub Cmd is back with a brand new single, the first one in a series of three singles, all planned to be released in year 2020. After the ep Deeper Understanding in 2019, he collaborates once again with the Italian born producer and singer SistaSara, who blessed the riddim with her voice and her conscious lyrics.

Leaving Babylon Behind is presented in three versions: The original vocal version by SistaSara, the obligatory dub version by Dub Cmd and a very special melodica version featuring for the first time the upcoming melodica player Aki Mittoo from Japan.

The Dubbstyle - Slow

Having already two releases in Dubophonic Records, Simona in 2015 and Sun Is Dub in 2019, and a few participations in various compilations, the brothers Mauro and Federico Salina aka The Dubbstyle from Mentoza, Argentina, continue their dub journey in 2020 with a new album entitled Slow! It includes seven new tunes exploring different aspects of dub music

The Dubwegians - King of Dub

Two years after their first release South Of the River Clyde in 2018, the Scottish duo Gary Lamont and Richy Clark return with a second EP with more reworks of some of their favourite dub tracks. These reworks were written back in 2013 but never received the respect they deserved, suffering from lack of attention.

In this second EP entitled King Of Dub, they concentrate on the works of King Tubby, using the same approach recording wise as in South Of The River Clyde, trying to emulate some great King Tubby masterpieces. Richy played guitar, Garry played bass and covered all other sounds and the production, but this time the duo was enriched with the addition of Ian Borthwick on the drums.

That was the second and apparently the last try of The Dubwegians to establish themselves as a dub band. Unfortunately the project that Richy dreamed off in 2013, never really managed to pull off. It kind of fizzled out after a while as people came and went. Up for a jam and some good time but not up for putting in the hours of practice needed. We thought it would be nice to share these tunes, done a long time ago, and give them another lease of life! We hope you enjoy them!

Dub Cmd & Sister Maki - Way To Zion I

Dub Cmd, the UK based dub producer from Poland, returns with a new EP. After his first release in year 2019 and his collaboration in the same year with the USA based producer SistaSara from Italy, the artist returns with a new outernational collaboration, this time featuring on the vocals the Japanese singer Sister Maki from Osaka.

Sister Maki started her activity in Osaka, Japan, in 2007 as a reggae singer. Based out of Kobe , she started in 2010 performing as a roots reggae selector. In 2013 she formed her own band, Sister Maki Band, playing original roots reggae music and bringing a deeper meditation to the Kansai (Japanese region) music scene, promoting peace, love and unity.

Dub Cmd is becoming one of the most prolific new artists on the label. The new release Way To Zion consists of two parts. This is the first part! It includes five tracks: 3 vocals tracks (one is a special discomix) with Sister Maki on the vocals plus 2 instrumental cuts in a fine dubwise style. The second part will be released later this year!

Stefanosis meets Samson Benji - Brass Echo Chamber

This album - Brass Echo Chamber - was originally released in the early 2000's through the now defunct Springline Records label. Sadly, the online release never took off and did not received the popularity it deserved. Like a fading star, it was eventually taken offline and forgotten in the vaults.

The man behind the instruments was Stefanosis from Los Angeles, known as Steve Steppa back then. The concept was quite simple: create an album influenced by the 1970's reggae-dub era with a saxophone as the lead instrument. The man behind the brass was the German born saxophonist Ras Samson aka Samson Benji, who was given the dubplates and added his horns like the “icing” on a “well baked cake”.

The original, low-fi production was recorded using a vintage, analog synth, drum-machine and electric bass and guitars masterfully played by Stefanosis. After saxophone parts were recorded long distance in Europe, Gibsy Rhodes from Corsica, the man behind Springline Records, put the whole package together with some added effects, samples and rough mastering.

Fast forward in year 2020, the original files were discovered years later on a disc. Admiring the whole concept and the irie hooks of Samson's soulful saxophone. Stefanosis took the files and boosted some audio levels, utilizing modern technology. The songs have been re-mastered and allowed to shine brighter this time. Twenty years after the original release, the Brass Echo Chamber lives again, polished and resonating pure, reggae dubplate vibes.
