00:09In a statement posted to its official Facebook page yesterday,
00:13the association said several cases of chicken pox have been identified at the facility.
00:18The group is advising its members to adhere to the strictest health and safety protocols
00:23to reduce the risk of transmission not only to themselves but to their families.
00:28The association stressed that the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service has a duty of care
00:34to protect officers, inmates and, by extension, the wider public.
00:39It added that incidents such as this once again highlight what it describes as
00:44long-standing deficiencies within the prison system, particularly in times of public health concern.
00:51No official statement has been issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service on the matter.
