00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03Butterflies are the source of inspiration for this challenge.
00:06It's an avant-garde challenge where we can do really crazy stuff.
00:09I just don't think it's working.
00:11I don't want to go home.
00:13You look scared.
00:14You look so cool.
00:16The judges have decided to present you with an additional challenge.
00:21The feeling of dread is just building up.
00:23What you see here is the design work that resulted in the designer being eliminated.
00:29Each of you will transform it from a loser to a winner.
00:33Two challenges will walk the runway.
00:36This challenge decides who goes to Fashion Week.
00:44Hallelujah.
00:45Impeccable work.
00:47This was emotional clothing.
00:49This was one of the best final runway shows we've had.
00:52Brayden, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:55Dom, congratulations.
00:59You also will be showing at New York Fashion Week.
01:03The rest of you all have passion and true talent.
01:07So, we are allowing all of you to create collections.
01:11But you three will have to battle it out.
01:14And then we will decide who will compete with Brayden and Dom at New York Fashion Week.
01:20You have a front row seat.
01:23For fashion's greatest show.
01:24This is Project Runway.
01:34Hello designers.
01:35Hi everyone.
01:36Hi Tim.
01:37We have never had this many people still in the competition at this point.
01:41And I have to tell you, I couldn't be more thrilled with this outcome.
01:45Dom and Brayden, congratulations.
01:47You were guaranteed a spot at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
01:50Incredible.
01:51Super excited.
01:52It's thrilling, isn't it?
01:53Yes.
01:54Helen, Justin, Alexandria, you are going to create collections and return here.
02:00We will then decide which of you will show at Lincoln Center with Dom and Brayden.
02:05It's a great testament to your talent and to how the judges feel about you.
02:10You were each getting $9,000.
02:13You will have a very speedy six weeks to create your collections.
02:18And you were to create a 10 look collection for spring.
02:22Now we're doing something differently this time.
02:25One of your looks must be created with unconventional materials.
02:30And I think by now you know what that means.
02:33Do not use anything that is like real fabric.
02:37Well good luck to all of you and I can't wait to see you in your studios.
02:42I also wish you good luck and I see you back here on the runway.
02:46Bye everybody.
02:48Bye.
03:00We'll see each other before we know it.
03:05I know.
03:06It's going to go.
03:07Time is going to fly.
03:08It doesn't feel real.
03:09None of it feels real.
03:10But we're the five.
03:12I guess I should say that this is amazing.
03:15But it's still so surreal that I can't believe we're the ones.
03:25I'm headed out to see how the designers are doing on their collections.
03:28First, I'm in Philadelphia to check in on Don.
03:31Hi.
03:32How are you?
03:33Good.
03:34Hi.
03:35I have missed you.
03:36I have missed you too.
03:37How glamorous you look.
03:38Oh, thank you.
03:39So, introduce me to everyone.
03:40Okay.
03:41My family is in this competition with me.
03:43They've taken me to all the fabric stores and picked me up when I'm working late.
03:48If I won Project Runway, it'll be not just for me, but for them too, for all the sacrifices.
03:57That they made.
03:58Growing up with a single mother, you rarely get things handed to you.
04:04I developed an appreciation for earning what you want in life.
04:08How young was Don when you knew how talented she is?
04:11She started trying to create stuff early on, and she just took off from there.
04:15Watching you get dressed up to go out was like a major influence on why I like fashion so much.
04:20Good work, Tammy.
04:23I'll see you at New York Fashion Week.
04:28Don, this is sensational.
04:30Yeah, a friend of mine actually owns all this gallery space, and I'm just renting this area from him.
04:34And you have the front with the windows.
04:35Yes.
04:36Which is great.
04:37So, what was your inspiration?
04:38When I got home, I really just like vegged out, watched the movies.
04:42And one of my favorite movies is Blade Runner.
04:45So, I really just started playing around with retrofuturism.
04:47There's a lot of angular lines meeting curved lines.
04:51Uh-huh.
04:52So, you've designed the prints and you put them into production?
04:54Yes.
04:55How fantastic.
04:56Where are they?
04:57I just got the proofs I'm really excited about.
04:59You got the proofs?
05:00Yeah.
05:01I wanted to get it proof before I ordered large quantities.
05:02Yeah, sure.
05:03Absolutely.
05:04This is one of them.
05:05So, have you approved the proofs?
05:06I'm still hung up about one of them.
05:08I had it printed on the cotton silk, and it's not as vibrant as I wanted it to be.
05:12Mm-hmm.
05:13I had this printed on knit to see the difference.
05:17I'm thinking, why aren't you doing it all on knit?
05:20All?
05:21The integrity of the artwork, isn't it all compromised by this knit?
05:25And it's going to make your whole design life a lot easier.
05:28Looking at where you are right now and knowing that you still have to get the textiles back
05:32before you can start actually making.
05:34Mm-hmm.
05:35I wouldn't want to be in your shoes for anything.
05:39There's, I mean, time's running out.
05:41Yeah.
05:42I have three and a half looks done, and I have ten looks to complete total.
05:46Love you.
05:47Take care.
05:48Bye.
05:49Work, work, work.
05:50I'm just going to start cranking out these garments like nobody's business.
05:53I just have a lot of stuff to do.
05:58Next, I'm in Los Angeles to check in on Brayden.
06:07I'm so excited.
06:09Winning Project Runway is such a dream.
06:13Hello.
06:14Hi.
06:15But I try not to think about the fact that I've already been chosen to show it in Fashion
06:20Week because the idea is petrifying.
06:22So here it is.
06:23Wow.
06:24Wow.
06:25Wow.
06:26Wow.
06:27I'm excited.
06:28Good.
06:29So talk to me.
06:30Well, my inspiration comes from growing up in Northern New York State where we had long,
06:36hard winters.
06:37I would always get so excited when crocuses would push up through the snow.
06:41Uh-huh.
06:42I mean, literally a flower in a field of snow.
06:44I know exactly what that is.
06:46What I try to do is get that feeling of bright springtime alive vibrancy from the glassy,
06:55snowy, sort of cool, metallic kinds of colors.
07:00I have four garments that I haven't started making yet.
07:04One of them is my finale look, which is an entire gown.
07:07And this is the fabric.
07:08Can we postpone New York Fashion Week?
07:10Just a couple days.
07:11Give me some more time.
07:12How are you, Josh?
07:13Welcome to Los Angeles.
07:14Thank you so much.
07:15It's great to have you.
07:16Thrilled to be here.
07:17And congratulations on your engagement.
07:20Thank you so much.
07:21It's so thrilling.
07:22It is really thrilling.
07:23And this.
07:24I'm excited.
07:25Hi, Eddie.
07:26I can't wait to take Tim to one of my favorite places in the world.
07:30Yes.
07:31Excellent.
07:32He's still got his suit jacket on, though.
07:34This place really grounds you.
07:36It's captivating, compelling.
07:38It's beautiful.
07:40I'm relieved to have made it to this landmark moment in this competition.
07:45But if I don't work like I've never worked before, it's not going to happen.
07:50Eddie's trying to dig to China.
07:52Eddie, once you get there, you'll want to come right back.
07:55Now I'm going to visit the three designers still competing for a spot at Fashion Week.
08:03First, I'm in San Mateo, California to check on Alexandria.
08:07Hi.
08:08Alexandria.
08:09How are you?
08:10I'm fantastic.
08:11You look fabulous.
08:13Sleep does that show.
08:14The day I left Persons, I had the vision of what I wanted to show.
08:25Edgy and strong and modern, my three favorite words.
08:28I've been sewing every single day.
08:31Drawing, designing, sewing, moving forward every single day.
08:34This is where the magic happens.
08:36Wonderful.
08:37I think there's maybe 30 pieces.
08:3930 pieces?
08:40Why worked hard?
08:41Except for...
08:42Excellent.
08:43I mean, I'm happy to hear that.
08:44The creative process twists and turns.
08:45You start somewhere and you go all over the place to get to that ending.
08:48First of all, I'm disarmed by the fact that you have so many pieces.
08:51But secondly, it makes me happy because it means you have options.
08:54It's all the options.
08:55Yeah.
08:56Yeah.
08:57It's the title of the collection, Neo-Nomadic Punk.
08:59Where I'm just sort of playing, mixing and matching prints and so forth.
09:03So, that I can.
09:04With a cute, like sort of a gypsy skirt.
09:07Oh.
09:08Now, it's...
09:09Can I be blunt?
09:10Sure.
09:11This collection is you.
09:12Where's your unconventional look in all of this?
09:14These are foam books that have been woven.
09:16By whom?
09:18Well, me and the kids.
09:21Oh, you did it with your camp kids?
09:23Well, they don't know what it's for, but we do it every year.
09:26We always weave together.
09:27Am I going to the camp?
09:28You're going to the camp.
09:29All right.
09:30I'm driving to the camp.
09:33Life is too short for bad fashion.
09:36It's adorable.
09:37Shall we go?
09:38Yeah.
09:39I can't wait.
09:40Hey, guys.
09:41Look who's in town.
09:42Hi, everybody.
09:43Hi, I'm Rocco.
09:44Hello, Rocco.
09:45I'm practicing sewing.
09:46I love that.
09:47I always say learning to use a sewing machine is a lot like learning to play a musical instrument.
09:51You have to practice.
09:53Camp Couture is a huge part of my life.
09:56You made this?
09:57Yes.
09:58I'm extraordinarily impressed.
10:00This started with two kids, and now we're at like 25 kids a week.
10:04Thank you so much for coming here.
10:05I am so proud of you.
10:06Oh, thank you.
10:08It's so fantastic.
10:11And I'll see you soon.
10:12In New York, oh, God, I got to go back.
10:15It's not over.
10:16It's not over.
10:17I'm still competing for that last spot.
10:19I'm so touched.
10:20I want to show, you know, be kind of awful not to show.
10:25Bye, everybody.
10:27Keep working hard.
10:28I have 10 days.
10:30I have to bust my butt.
10:32High five.
10:33I'm really proud of you.
10:40Next, I'm in Union City, New Jersey to check in on Helen.
10:43Hey.
10:44I'm so excited you're here.
10:46At first, I felt really discouraged with not having a secured spot in the top three to go to Fashion Week.
10:51I feel like I only saw you a few weeks ago because I did.
10:54But that was only more motivation to really, like, kill it with this collection.
11:00Is this just you?
11:01This is just me.
11:02How great.
11:03So where do you want to start?
11:04My inspiration was clairvoyance, knowing the unknown.
11:07It's very abstract, though.
11:09Yes.
11:10How does it become concrete?
11:11Well, what I decided to do was take that concept of vision.
11:16And what I did was I had a photograph taken of an eye.
11:19Oh.
11:20And I ended up using that in my prints.
11:22So you have the textiles manufactured.
11:24Wow.
11:25So that's what's hanging over here.
11:26I'm really confident with this whole concept of clairvoyance.
11:29I'm 100% sure it will wow the judges.
11:32I'm a bit disarmed by the red.
11:34I don't think of you as a red person.
11:37I want it to be, like, this bold, in-your-face, really aggressive color with these aggressive
11:44silhouettes and then have almost a softness to it with manipulating the print.
11:48It's good counterpoint.
11:49Yeah.
11:50Yeah.
11:51Here's the blunt instrument I'm going to deliver.
11:52Okay.
11:53You need to do something that speaks to some innovation.
11:57I don't think that that dress walking down the runway is going to be acceptable.
12:02You're competing with Justin with Alexandria.
12:04Yes.
12:05So you have to do superb, extraordinary work.
12:10Not a concern of mine.
12:12I know that I'm capable of making it to Fashion Week.
12:15I need to make tweaks, but he gave me the confidence to trust myself.
12:19It's all going to come together really well.
12:21Is this your parents' house?
12:22It's my parents' lovely.
12:23It really is lovely.
12:24Lovely home.
12:25I'm really anxious to have Tim meet my mother and father and my boyfriend.
12:30Hi!
12:31I really hope that Tim can see where I get all my best qualities from.
12:34We're so impressed that you came here, really.
12:37Well, you must be impressed about the circumstances, too.
12:40Oh, yeah.
12:41We're very proud of Helen.
12:43I don't have a problem with talking about me.
12:46Keep it coming.
12:48Let me ask you a question since you've been watching the show.
12:51There are moments when Helen has next to no self-confidence.
12:55And, in fact, she's her own worst critic.
12:58Did that aspect surprise you at all?
13:00There's two sides to this coin.
13:01Because the other side is unconditional confidence.
13:04Which border's cocky.
13:05Even I'll admit that.
13:07Well, we knew about that, but now you know.
13:11So you did know.
13:12Okay.
13:13I'm going to be top three, and I'm going to win.
13:17It may come across as arrogant, but I'm so proud of myself.
13:20Thank you so much.
13:21Thank you, Tim.
13:22Bye-bye.
13:23I want to win this so bad.
13:25And that's it.
13:26And I want to go back to my workspace right now.
13:33Finally, I'm in Raleigh, North Carolina to check in on Justin.
13:36Toast?
13:37And I think we should toast to Justin's remarkable achievements.
13:42Oh.
13:43And to your future.
13:45Thank you very much.
13:46When did you first recognize Justin's talents?
13:50He was always artistic, starting with painting.
13:55He swung the painting behind me.
13:57Was that your work, too?
13:58He did.
13:59Anything that looks arts and crafty.
14:01And then he went off and got an architecture degree.
14:05Yes.
14:06Which we were excited about.
14:07But took the fashion side turn.
14:10It was clear that you weren't getting the artistic satisfaction from being an architect.
14:15I think you found your niche now.
14:17We're extremely proud.
14:19My mother and my father taught me deafness is not a barrier, but an opportunity.
14:26And just really strive for the best of the best.
14:31I'm humble.
14:32I'm thankful I'm here.
14:33But I want to win.
14:34So I'm pushing to go all the way.
14:39The collection is actually inspired by Soundwave.
14:44I want to tell the audience my story of the transition before and after I got my cochlear implant.
14:51And one of the things that I'm actually pretty excited about is I'm doing 3D printing.
14:56And this is actually what this is right now.
14:593D printing.
15:00That's been around for a long time, but it's only been recently accessible.
15:05Oh, wow.
15:06This is the machine.
15:08And it's actually printing a file for me right now.
15:11It looks like a vending machine.
15:12It does.
15:13It's not that crazy.
15:14Where do I get the Fritos?
15:16I like pushing the boundaries, and I'm hoping that Tim will appreciate that.
15:23I know I have a very strong concept, and I know this is going to be a very strong collection.
15:29Without Tim, I wouldn't be sitting right here.
15:32I'll probably be at home eating a bucket of ice cream, watching TV.
15:44It feels so good to be back at the Refiner Hotel.
15:50And to just be back in New York.
15:52The time that we had just flew by, and we're already back here again.
15:56There's a sense of anxiousness.
16:00Hi.
16:01Hi.
16:02How are you?
16:03Good, how are you?
16:04How are you?
16:05It's nice to see you.
16:06Is that the door?
16:12Hello.
16:13Hey.
16:14Welcome.
16:15Hello.
16:16How are you?
16:17Good.
16:18Good.
16:19I think we're all probably still worked out and exhausted.
16:22Yeah, absolutely.
16:23It's been crazy.
16:24Crazy, right?
16:25Crazy good.
16:38Good morning, everyone.
16:39Good morning.
16:40May I ask you to gather round, please?
16:43So how do you like this beautiful work room?
16:45It's fantastic.
16:46It is fantastic.
16:47Well, I have someone I want to introduce you to.
16:52Designers, please welcome Raquel Rosas.
16:54Hi.
16:55The brand manager for Tide.
16:57I'm proud to be here for Tide because the Tide consumer loves fashion.
17:01Mm-hmm.
17:02At the same time, they wish they could wash some of their most stylish pieces at home without
17:06fear of ruining them.
17:07We are partnering with the Council of Fashion Designers of America to introduce a new program
17:12called Washable Fashions.
17:14We're challenging you today to come up with new designs in fabrics that are easy for you
17:19to care for at home, thanks to Tide Pods.
17:21So you will be creating one new look, things that you can put into the washer.
17:27And I look forward to seeing your washable fashion pop on the runway.
17:30But I want to emphasize something.
17:32This challenge will be for those of you who present your full collection at Lincoln Center.
17:36All right.
17:37But before we move forward with the Tide challenge, Alexandria, Helen, Justin, you will be presenting
17:45three looks to determine who will be going to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
17:50And that will happen tomorrow.
17:51I know I'm stressed, so I can't even imagine the amount of stress they're under.
17:55I'll be back, designers.
17:56Hi, everyone.
18:09Hi, Tim.
18:10Hi, Tim.
18:11What happened?
18:12Well, since leaving you only a few hours ago, I had an altercation with a set of subway
18:16stairs, a trip to the emergency room, and four stitches.
18:19But I'm here for you.
18:20Trooper.
18:21Oh, my God.
18:22So, Alexandria, Helen, Justin, I'm here to check in with you about the three looks that
18:28you plan on presenting to the judges tomorrow.
18:30And Brayden and Don, I'll weigh in with you later in the week.
18:34Alexandria, how are you?
18:35Good.
18:36How are you?
18:37I'm good.
18:38And I recognize this.
18:39This is your riff on the trench, which I love.
18:40Yes.
18:41Taking this length away looks really good.
18:44I mean, for me, it has a lightness and a buoyancy that I really respond to.
18:48And I like the translucency of this.
18:51So, what else are you considering?
18:52I don't have to show any headwear with it, but it's also a little fun, too.
18:57But this ties in with this tie, as well.
19:00And why this pant?
19:01It had that nice, drapey, loose fit.
19:04It's simple, but sharp.
19:06I would definitely show at least one hat.
19:08For me, having all that whiter white at the top makes the pant make more sense.
19:13Alexandria's three looks all look very similar.
19:16Three pants, jackets, they all look the same.
19:19If I have to go down and go out, at least the viewers can see what I can do.
19:23Okay.
19:26Hi, Justin.
19:27Hello.
19:28How are you?
19:29I can't wait to see this fabulous dress.
19:32I'm excited about unconventional material.
19:35I'm in love with this dress.
19:37It looks like fur.
19:38It does.
19:39Yeah.
19:40This is actually the very best look.
19:42The strapless with the pant.
19:44And I actually added this vest because I'm always drawn to the movement of a garment.
19:49But what happens with this top?
19:51It looks a little sloppy.
19:53Even this line.
19:54I see what you mean.
19:55It's wiggly.
19:56Yeah.
19:57At this point in what we have to admit is a competition, those little things could be it.
20:04And I just don't want that to happen to you.
20:06Yeah.
20:07Okay.
20:08Okay.
20:11How's Helen?
20:12Helen's good.
20:13So talk to me.
20:14Why are these three looks?
20:15I mean, I definitely wanted to show like a red because the color, it speaks for itself.
20:20Everything about this has a flow and an ease until we get to this detail.
20:28And then it's like, it looks so clunky.
20:31Helen's collection looks elementary.
20:33It looks like student work, the quality of sewing, like the silhouettes.
20:38I mean, they're difficult to wear.
20:40I think I've just been so concerned with doing my finishes on everything and having everything show ready.
20:45You've got to get three looks in front of those judges and past those judges successfully.
20:52All right.
20:53I'm going to leave you.
20:54Try as much as you can on your models.
20:55Thank you, Tim.
20:57All right.
21:00You will all have until 11 o'clock tonight to work.
21:03All five of you have a lot of work to do.
21:05But for three of you...
21:07Sorry.
21:17Just make it work.
21:18Okay?
21:19All right.
21:20I'll see you in the morning.
21:21Thank you, Tim.
21:22Thank you, Tim.
21:24Thanks, Tim.
21:25I did get a little bit emotional when Tim was leaving.
21:29I mean...
21:34We came this far, and yes, it is a competition.
21:39I definitely want to win, but I don't want anybody to go home, including myself.
21:45Because we have grown very close with each other, and it's almost like tearing our little family apart.
21:56It's just a lot of pressure.
22:10Good morning, designers.
22:11Hello.
22:12How is everyone?
22:13Good.
22:14Good day.
22:15It's a very, very big day.
22:16Your models will be coming in soon.
22:17You will have an hour to send them to the L'Oreal Paris hair and makeup rooms.
22:22And as you all know, use the Belk wall very thoughtfully and very strategically.
22:27And I'll see you soon.
22:29I'll see you soon.
22:31Bye, everyone.
22:32Good morning, ladies.
22:33How is this?
22:34How is this?
22:35How is this?
22:36How is this?
22:37This one's cute.
22:38About a 10-year-old lady.
22:39What is that one, dad?
22:40I think it's cool, right?
22:41It is.
22:42Okay, cool.
22:43Yeah, it's still there.
22:44welcome back thank you girls are wearing mohawks and hats but I kind of like that her hair was
22:53sticking up like this the smooth and shine cream just add a little more shine to her curl and awesome
22:58I want a long braid but I want it to kind of sit so it's kind of like a faux choker I kind of like
23:04it I think yeah it's interesting something similar to this okay all caught in the way
23:09if I really show you all the way around uh-huh we're gonna pull this up so this is gonna be
23:13hidden and then she'll have the bang yeah that works so these are the three looks that I'll be
23:22showing ideally I was thinking to do a big wing we can do a black wing and we can coat over it and
23:29then it's blended to the depth of the wing so I'm going very edgy so I'm gonna do this general color
23:34wash of the pink eye less pink on the lip yeah and it's still with that luminosity down the center
23:39cool you're gonna have beautiful glowing models awesome you can see there right now there's the
23:44beauty of it I want to balance it out with the makeup we could do a beautiful true red lip I think it's
23:50gonna be gorgeous Justin good I may need no help putting on the dress okay look good and you pulled
24:04it on the way yeah oh you're sharp shoes okay do you need a pair of pants looks nicer although we did
24:11kind of a shoddy job okay thankfully Dom helped me out with this hand tacking and it's gonna look a
24:17lot better than it did before designers and models we are going down to the runway this is it this is
24:23what determines my future as a designer thank you I think out of the three I'm the strongest one I know
24:29I am you have everything Justin I know I want to win this more than anything off we go the winner of

25:31Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and $25,000 from Laurel Paris
25:37hello designers welcome back to New York and welcome back to the runway there are five of you still in the
25:53competition and after tonight well we'll see Brayden and Dom you will be showing at New York Fashion Week
26:01Justin Helen Alexandria you will show us three looks from your collection today and based on those looks we
26:11will decide which of you will move forward to compete at Fashion Week all right let's say hello to the judges
26:19first we have acclaimed fashion designer Zach Posen hello designers hi Zach creative director for
26:25Marie Claire magazine Nina Garcia welcome back designers and your mentor Tim Gunn all right let's start the show
26:42the first look that I'm sending down the runway is a black leather top with a pair of pants
26:49pants that have this cool detail I think she looks really cool
27:07the second look is a very cool suede jacket
27:11I'm very proud of this one I think in the entire collection I think this is the one I love the most
27:22the third look is a trench coat that is made of silk and suede and a pair of pants that have this sort of asymmetrical drape
27:35I like the look but the proportions are not as solid as they could be it's just the right girl needs to wear it
27:47I absolutely love the cap sleeve mini dress the construction is so perfect
27:58clean finishings and the shape of the bodice with the sweet cap sleeve it's so modern but badass at the
28:09same time I just I really love it I would totally wear this look for my second look I chose my red cape
28:16dress with the acrylic belt
28:17the color speaks for itself and I want to show them a variety of the color and textiles that I use in
28:31this collection I love this off shoulder printed dress I mean I killed myself with trying to make this print
28:42perfect and it's practically glowing on my model although it is the only printed piece it's sexy
28:53and it's fitted underneath the little cape so I'm hoping the judges love it it looks stunning the white
29:03is hitting her and all the white and the black really play with each other
29:12I love how it moves and it is one of my favorite looks
29:21the second look is focusing on chaos that's where all the different elements come in with the paint
29:34treatment and 3d print and the printed fabric
29:39it just really represents who I am as a designer
29:43the unconventional look is definitely the wow factor of the one-way show
29:52it looks amazing
29:59designers you should all be so proud for making it this far but not all of you can show it New York Fashion Week
30:29Justin we're gonna talk to you first so let's bring out your models
30:36Justin tell us about your looks and how they represent your collection there was one thing that
30:46I really wanted to do which was to tell my story the transition fun being a deaf person and be able to
30:53hear for the first time the collection is divided into three sessions before when I was not able to
31:00hear in a way it is pure the next phase is not being able to hear for 18 years and one day just have all
31:09this sound I hate it wow and that brings me to the last look I've come at peace with it I'm really happy with it
31:19I am so happy that Tim Gunn used his save on you and brought you back this blew me away
31:26today and I did not know that that was you I thought that was very fashion forward and now that I hear your
31:32story I love it even more Justin congratulations thank you I think your first look here is really chic the
31:40second look has a few too many elements and I think your finale is a wow piece the clothing is
31:46all pretty wearable you have to be a little careful with the accessorizing the black necklace works
31:51really well the 3d printing is so cool it's a great resource and technology there is something very
31:58poetic about your designs when I first saw the white I love the minimalism of it the second outfit I'm crazy
32:07about that belt and the finale the unconventional materials the showpiece I loved it thank you Justin
32:15models you can leave the runway Alexandra tell us about your looks and how they represent your
32:21collection I've titled this collection neo-nomadic punk so I had this sort of the next take on what
32:26punk should be I've chosen these three looks because they represent the overall collection in terms of the
32:34details so this detail that you're pointing out right there is that sewn into the band yeah all the
32:39pants have a detail like this I love it the middle jacket here is in leather and it's raw all the seams
32:48are curving the third jacket is a mix of suede and silk all the closures have old fish hooks but I think
32:57that this best represents what I have to show Alexandria your clothes are fashion-forward they look really
33:04cool I love these slouchy pants I mean there is so much detail I love the jackets that you made I love
33:11the beautiful little hats here that you made I want to have all of this I absolutely love it thank you
33:17I think you did a great job thank you definitely has a luxe quality to it the detailing looks very
33:24professional and it's impressive thank you when I walked out I knew immediately this was you however when
33:33you put a show for New York Fashion Week these clothes are really gonna look like anything do you have the
33:40goods to really present something that is Wow I fear that this is going to look very boring I don't know
33:50or if these clothes are show-worthy clothes thank you Alexandria thank you model so you can leave the runway
33:57Helen tell us about your looks and how they represent your collection my inspiration was
34:04actually clairvoyance it's kind of like a really abstract inspiration I didn't want to make it too
34:09in your face I decided to make my own print the photo is actually of my boyfriend's eye and use a pop
34:17color as well as something that was more subdued I just wanted to keep it not only sexy but somewhat
34:23sophisticated I'm really pleased with how it turned out I love this very minimal yet feminine silhouette
34:31that your clothes have I love the little black dress it feels very modern can I see the back of the black
34:37dress it's great I am a little worried that this print dress feels very tortured can she move her arms in
34:45it she just looks like she's sitting there in a straight jacket I think I understand the kind of
34:56work that you make you get modern women that being said you got pretty close on the first one and then it
35:02went less in degree the last dress really feels like a concept that didn't come to fruition in my eyes
35:09you've been one of the more interesting designers on the show but I'm so not happy with what you did
35:18today these three girls look so unhappy it doesn't feel easy or sexy they're just kind of stuck I'm like
35:26oh it looks sad to me I was torn between like what three looks to show because I love all of them I just
35:33don't understand how the clairvoyance works in these other two dresses your boyfriend must have very
35:38beautiful eyes but it just feels contrived I commend you for taking big ideas these are masterful curves and
35:47contours and it's gonna take a lifetime to achieve them thank you Helen thank you you can all leave
35:53the runway Tim is bringing out the model so we can take a closer look at the garments do you want to begin
36:03with one of Justin's models the showpiece I love it it's just clean chic it's modern the 3d printing he's
36:14using technology in a really cool way it's so inventive the story behind the clothes connects so deeply with the
36:23end result and he went beyond his inspiration story these are good clothing look at Rihanna yeah clothing like
36:33this needs to be made beautifully I mean come that feels like butter I just don't know if it's enough
36:38of a new voice out there it's so flat and this is beautiful I love this there's so much of that fabric
36:46she thinks that gray and white is a color that's hysterical I'm just happy to see a pant that's not in
36:52that washed silk I like this collection I'm interested to see what else she's got what is she gonna say when
36:59they say well we have this already because that is what they will say what is it that's going to set her
37:04apart from everybody else that could be doing something like it's what every designer needs to
37:08ask that's right should we move on to Helen yes I want to see the little blue dress what happened I don't
37:17it is actually shocking when you look at it and what about this sorry that is that is creepy you know
37:23when you look at some of the construction some of it's so beautifully done but then you look at this
37:27dart and it feels like a fit afterthought I know everything feels sculpted but then not it's youth I
37:34just expected more from her she just needs a lot more time to craft her talent thank you Tim thank you
37:42thank you beautiful girls thank you I'm really looking forward to Lincoln Center I think it's
37:52gonna be an amazing runway show really exciting so we've made our decision yep all right let's bring
38:00them back up designers you should all be very proud for making it this far you have all done a great job
38:07job but unfortunately not all of you can compete at New York Fashion Week Justin you surprised us your
38:22looks were fashion-forward and interesting the inspiration you told us was amazing you needed to
38:29translate that into beautiful clothes and you did Justin congratulations you will be showing at
38:38New York Fashion Week we're very excited for you you're in you can leave the runway thank you I can't
38:47believe that I'm showing you at New York Fashion Week this is something not many people have an opportunity
38:53to view but the dream come true this came on Alexandria your looks had a cool easy elegance you have to
39:04remember that this is not for a showroom this is for the runway Helen you have made some amazing clothes
39:13this season and we love that you know who you are as a designer but we had some questions about your looks
39:19today Alexandria you're in you will be showing at New York Fashion Week congratulations you can use the runway
39:48I knew I knew I was gonna show it fashion week I knew it Helen I'm sorry that means you're out you have done so well

40:05because you got it in your girl
40:08we believe in you
40:10thank you okay I just blew it I was just like too confident maybe that's what I needed to do was learn the hard way I'm still proud of myself I'm just disappointed in the whole situation
40:28if you are half as proud of you as I am you should be ecstatic of course about how far you've come you are going to go very very far and we're all going to feel very very proud
40:58yeah I can't beat myself up for one one bump in the road I guess I have to send you to the workroom to clean up your space okay
41:05well
41:08project runway was definitely one of the coolest things I've ever done going home blows but you need to like
41:16learn a little bit more practice makes perfect and that happens over time this isn't gonna discourage me
41:23from continuing my career it's just a bummer that I'm not going to fashion week
41:33next time on project runway tomorrow is the day I have a really good chance of winning this I can't believe that this is a day I will never
41:44forget come on quick quick quick quick quick no one of your models broke her ankle oh my god all those people
