How To Create Engaging Content For Ecommerce Retargeting

Explore top LinkedIn content from expert professionals.

Summary

Ecommerce retargeting involves showing tailored ads or content to people who have previously visited your online store, with the goal of re-engaging them and encouraging a purchase. Creating engaging content for ecommerce retargeting means delivering messages that are relevant, timely, and personalized based on a shopper’s past activity and intent.

  • Personalize your approach: Segment your audience by behavior—such as recent visitors, cart abandoners, or email subscribers—and tailor your content to each group’s specific interests and stage in the buying journey.
  • Rotate and refresh creatives: Regularly update your ads with new visuals, offers, or educational content to keep your messaging from becoming repetitive and to maintain audience interest.
  • Add value, not pressure: Share helpful information, problem-solving advice, or customer testimonials in your retargeting content to build trust and gently guide shoppers back, rather than simply pushing for a quick sale.

Amazon just told us exactly how to beat our competitors. His bestselling kitchen gadget's conversion rate had dropped 40% in two weeks. No changes to price. No new negative reviews. Traffic was steady. But sales were hemorrhaging. I spent the weekend analyzing his listing against top competitors. That's when I noticed something that made my stomach drop. His A+ content looked ancient compared to what was ranking above him. Static images. Basic layouts. Zero interactive elements. Meanwhile, competitors had immersive experiences that kept customers engaged for minutes. Here's what I learned about the evolution of Amazon listing psychology: The old mindset treated product pages like brochures. The new reality is they're interactive showrooms. The transformation strategy we implemented: - Redesigned modules to trigger horizontal scrolling behaviors - Added lifestyle imagery with models creating direct visual connection - Built comparison elements that preemptively handled objections - Created seamless product ecosystem showcasing to increase basket size The engagement psychology breakthrough: Every interaction creates what behavioral scientists call micro-commitments. Each scroll, swipe, or image view psychologically invests customers deeper into the purchase decision. The technical optimization layer: - Maximized searchable text elements for algorithm visibility - Utilized image description fields for additional keyword coverage - Structured defensive content positioning to minimize competitor exposure - Integrated brand narrative elements that extended session duration Results within 45 days of the overhaul: - Conversion rate recovered and exceeded previous peak by 23% - Average session time increased 280% - Organic visibility improved for 31 additional search terms - Related product sales increased 94% through strategic cross-promotion The insight that changed our entire approach: Amazon's algorithm doesn't just measure what customers buy. It measures how long they stay engaged before buying. Modern listing optimization isn't about cramming in features. It's about architecting an experience that builds purchase momentum. I am the founder of GigaBrands.ai, helping Amazon brands create listing experiences that convert curiosity into commitment. How often do you review your A+ content for engagement optimization? Remarketing is often the misunderstood middle child of performance marketing. Let’s break a couple of myths🔨 🎯 One size fits all fits probably no one:  I’ve seen many companies burn money on campaigns that don’t recognize that every section of their audience has their own motivations. Why, if I had a penny for every time I visited a site with no intent to purchase their product at all, only to spot a “Schedule a Demo Today” ad by them on whichever site I visit, I’d probably be the richest guy in SaaS! I read somewhere that 84% of users either ignore or are put off by retargeting ads! Shows how important it is to get it right. Start doing these things: - Segment visitors by page depth (1 page vs 3+ pages) - Track time-on-site thresholds (>2 min = higher intent) - Create separate campaigns for pricing page visitors vs. blog readers Tailor your content based on your audience’s behavior and stage in the buyer journey (URL path visitors, action completers, cart abandoners) 🎯 Retargeting works like a mosquito coil:  Retargeting is not plug and play, and it typically doesn’t stop with one level. Retarget for all customer stages. Not only demo and trial signups. This insulates your prospects from leaving the funnel midway. We’ve had cases where we spent thousands of dollars on a retargeting campaign only to make zero sales. But here’s what happened afterward ⭐ : When we triggered another retargeting campaign for the warmer folks from the previous campaign, giving them BOFU content, we made sales. A lot of it! What’s to learn here? You’re unlikely to be bet on with just the first touch point. You have to build that awareness consistently. Create a 3-tier remarketing structure: > Tier 1 (Cold): Educational content, industry reports > Tier 2 (Warm): Case studies, comparison guides > Tier 3 (Hot): Free trials, demos, limited-time offers Build custom audiences for each segment, assign specific content types to each, and implement frequency caps based on ‘bucket temperature’. Also, the focus should also be on increasing the credibility of your company rather than only pushing them towards the CTA. Here's one customized Google + LinkedIn campaign strategy we used for a client recently. What are some retargeting tactics that’s worked for you?

How we approach Retargeting This is a huge part of our campaign strategy at Flying V Group Digital Marketing Here are 15 unique ways we approach it 1. Segment Your Audience ↪ We create custom audience segments based on actions like page views, cart abandonment, and engagement to deliver highly relevant ads. 2. Dynamic Retargeting Ads ↪ We use dynamic ads that showcase the exact products users interacted with, boosting relevance and conversion rates. 3. Multi-Channel Retargeting ↪ We extend your retargeting campaigns across various platforms (Facebook, Google, YouTube, etc.) to reach users wherever they are. 4. Use AI-Powered Predictive Retargeting ↪ We leverage AI tools to predict which users are most likely to convert and prioritize them in your campaigns. 5. Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) Targeting ↪ We retarget high-value customers with tailored offers, increasing the potential for repeat sales. 6. Exclude Converted Users ↪ We automatically exclude users who’ve already completed a purchase to avoid wasting ad spend. 7. Sequential Retargeting ↪ We show a sequence of ads based on the user’s journey to guide them down the conversion funnel. 8. Engage with Cart Abandoners ↪ We create ads specifically targeting users who abandoned their shopping carts with incentives like discounts or free shipping. 9. Set Frequency Caps ↪ We prevent ad fatigue by limiting how often a user sees your retargeting ads. 10. Time-Based Retargeting ↪ We use time intervals (e.g., 1 day, 7 days) to retarget users depending on how recently they interacted with your site. 11. Behavioral Retargeting ↪ We target users based on specific behaviors such as content views, interactions with specific categories, or even search history. 12. Cross-Device Retargeting ↪ We ensure your retargeting efforts follow users across devices to maintain consistency and increase chances of conversion. 13. Retarget Engaged Email Subscribers ↪ We use your email list to retarget subscribers who have opened or clicked your emails but haven’t converted yet. 14. Geolocation Retargeting ↪ We use location-based retargeting to show ads to users who are near your physical store or specific events. 15. Use Social Proof in Ads ↪ We incorporate customer reviews or testimonials in your retargeting ads to increase credibility and trust. You're missing out on solid warm leads when you don't invest in retargeting. Agree?

I just logged into a client's Klaviyo account (a Norwegian health brand selling wellness gadgets). What I saw shocked me: Their top-performing email each month was consistent: a long-form, plain text problem-solution email titled "Simple daily habits for pain relief." – Some context – This email doesn't push products. It simply offers 1-4 practical tips for their target audience of older adults. It’s pretty obvious why this works. You're not asking anything from the customer. You're simply providing value and helping them improve their lives. That builds trust. We've seen this work particularly well in health-related niches, but the concept can be applied broadly. A skincare brand could do "5 tips to transform your complexion." A fitness company could share "3 at-home exercises to relieve back pain." The possibilities are endless. In fact, we've seen success with a variation on this for clients who have blogs. The email teases valuable blog content, enticing readers to click through to the full post on the website. Again, it's all about delivering real value. When you consistently show up as a trusted resource, not just another company hawking products, customers naturally gravitate toward you. And the sales often follow (but that's not the primary goal of these emails). It's about playing the long game. Building relationships. Becoming a valued part of your audience's life. So if you're not already experimenting with this type of value-first, long-form email content, it's worth testing. The results might surprise you. #email #ecommerce #emailmarketing

Lowering CAC for D2C brands with direct response creative strategy and UGC Ads.

You saw the ad. You ignored it. You saw it again. Still ignored. Now you see it 6 more times. Welcome to modern D2C retargeting. Most D2C brands retarget like everyone’s always interested. Spoiler: they’re not. We audited 14 Indian D2C brands in April. Different categories. Different spend levels. ↳ But one common problem across the board: → Retargeting was quietly eating up 25–30% of ad budgets… and delivering almost no real lift in conversions. ↳ Here’s what we saw again and again: → Brands targeting the same audience across multiple campaigns. → 30-day visitors are still being hammered with BOFU ads on day 27. → High-frequency users keep seeing offers they’ve already ignored. → Everyone gets the same retargeting creative, no matter their intent level. And the worst part? Meta charges a premium to show ads to warm audiences or even if they’re cold in behavior. ↳ Why this hits harder in India: → COD mindset means More hesitation, slower decision → Lower trust in new D2C brands → Most retargeting is not segmented by behavior or timing You're not nurturing. You’re nagging. ↳ What I suggest brands to do instead: → Cap frequency and refresh retargeting ads weekly. → Use behavioral segments, not just "all visitors". → Retarget with timing logic, not desperation. ↳ My Fix for Smarter Retargeting Strategy 1. Segment your retargeting audiences → 1–3 days: Hot. Hit with offer. → 4–7 days: Educational reminder → 8–14 days: Testimonials, COD trust → 15–30 days: Low-cost nudges, not hard sells 2. Set frequency caps for warm pools → Don’t let the same person see your ad 6–10 times. → It hurts trust and inflates CPC. 3. Use intent-based retargeting triggers → Add to cart ≠ View content ≠ 10 sec video view → Each needs a different message and urgency 4. Rotate your creatives weekly → Fresh visuals and new hooks equals higher re-engagement without annoying the user 5. Track spend split between cold vs warm → If warm is eating 40%+ of budget with low conversions then pull back and fix segmentation. → Swap "Buy Now" with reminder, education, or social proof style creatives. Recap: ✅ Over-retargeting is a silent budget leak in Indian D2C ✅ Meta doesn’t care how relevant your retargeting is, you need to fix it ✅ Smart segmentation and message match means better ROI and trust ✅ Most CAC spikes come from lazy retargeting, not bad ads ✅ Treat retargeting like a nurture funnel, not a sales wall It’s not that your retargeting isn’t working rather it’s working too hard on the wrong people. Sometimes scaling starts by cutting what’s quietly bleeding your best budget. Spending ₹10L–₹50L/month and not sure if your retargeting is actually working? Let’s chat. A 30-min chat could save you lakhs in silent leaks.

Make your website convert better | CRO (Conversion Rate Optimisation) + UX Design | Founder at Conversion UX | 200+ websites optimised

92% of people don’t buy the first time they see a product. Not because they don’t want it. But because they aren't confident to buy it (yet). They think: – Is this the right product for me? – What if I need to return it? – Can I trust this brand? Answers to which they struggle to find. In this post, I’m breaking down 8 content, image, and UX changes that help shoppers say “yes” faster (without lowering your price or offering a bigger discount). 1. Keep the product name, price above the product image. This allows you to add a "1-line description" prominently. Also makes the add to cart CTA "appear" closer since shoppers usually scroll till the image. 2. Add badges on your product image. It's certifications, press icons, bestseller. This reassures shoppers that this is a quality product. And gives them the confidence to keep scrolling down. 3. Show a sneak peek of the next product. This makes the image gallery more intuitive to use, overall increasing your engagement rates. 4. Show thumbnails of the other images. Especially applicable if they have model images, educational content. It makes the shopper know in an instance "why" they should see these images. 5. Add key service USPs just below your add to cart CTA. This addresses common questions people have. How fast I get did? Can I return it? Does it delivery to my location? 6. Upsell at the right place. People usually buy towels in packs. For face, hand, body. That's why it made sense for it to be before the accordions for this brand. See my other posts to find where to upsell for other industries. 7. Add a short description intro before the accordions. This gets people reading and interested in the product. Overall improving CTR on the accordions. 8. Add accordions. These are collapsed drop downs with key product information. Help them answer common questions like how to use, quality, materials, how it's made. Try these and let me know how it impacts your website. P.S. Want to know what % of users interact with your images? Find out from a tool like Clarity (which is free), or Crazyegg/Hotjar (paid alternatives). From the heat maps report. If you'd want to learn how to take out insights from user behavior. Check out my CRO guide. Comment 'Guide' and I'll send you the link to get it.
