I've been training sales teams since 2018, and I've analyzed easily over 10,000 LinkedIn DM's. Here's a formula that actually books you meetings: - Observation (trigger-based insight about the prospect) - Context (Why this observation matters) - Pain point (highlight consequence or inefficiency) - Solution / Power Move (how your work solved it, not features) - CTA / Curiosity Question (spark interest, avoid pitching) ( I Call this The AMP Outbound Formula™ ) Now, to make this effective, you have to reframe your beliefs about outbound in the first place. Most of us treat outbound like a solicitation if we're honest. Like we're begging for a prospect's time.. like "can you spare a meeting, sir or madam?" Nah. That ain't it. Outbound is an invitation to a solution, not a solicitation. Think about this for a second. Invitations can be declined, but they create curiosity. Solicitations simply create resistance. So, as a seller, never think about your message as "oh no, I am bugging this person," think about it as an invitation into your world where you can help them. But actually know that you can help them. Okay, now that we're on the same page. Here are the 3 plays I like to run: Play 1: The Event Invitation "[Name] - looks like you're scaling your SDR team from 10 to 20 reps. We're running a webinar next week on social selling that your reps can use immediately after boot camp to book meetings. Mind if I send you a link for you and your team to join?" No asking for a meeting. Just providing straight value. Play 2: The Assessment Invitation Perfect for technical buyers. "Saw your recent company blog about [specific challenge/topic]. We built a 5-minute assessment that shows exactly where pipeline leaks happen. Interested?" They engage with the problem to solve, not your tool. (Yet) 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝟯: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 This is my favorite play. Send a 30-45 second video or voice note. "Your [specific observation]. (Insert persona) had a similar challenge at [relevant use case based on their industry]. Quick question - how are you handling [specific issue]?" Human-to-human connection wins every time. I've personally sent 10,000+ LinkedIn messages. Probably more to be honest.. The ones that book meetings don't sound like LinkedIn messages. They sound like one human inviting another human to explore something valuable. Stop soliciting. Start inviting. Your pipeline will thank you. And your buyer buyers will thank you too. P.S. Which invitation are you trying first?

Summary
Outbound sales techniques that drive results are methods for reaching potential customers proactively, instead of waiting for them to show interest. These strategies focus on personalized outreach, data-driven targeting, and creating value in every interaction to turn cold contacts into valuable conversations.
- Personalize each message: Craft outreach that speaks directly to the recipient's unique challenges or interests, using details like recent company news or observed pain points.
- Time your outreach: Reach out when prospects are most likely to be interested, using signals such as public announcements or online behavior to guide your timing.
- Use multiple channels: Don’t rely on just email—combine calls, LinkedIn messages, and personalized video or voice notes to get noticed and build real connections.

Proven Strategies to Supercharge B2B Outbound Lead Generation Let’s be clear: outbound isn’t dead—it just needs to be smarter. In a world where buyers are more selective and inboxes are more crowded, effective outbound lead generation is about precision, personalization, and partnership with sales. Here are 7 strategies I’ve seen drive real results: 1. Laser-Focus Your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) Before you start reaching out, refine your ICP. Go beyond firmographics—consider buying triggers, tech stack, growth signals, and key pain points. Use intent data and predictive analytics to prioritize accounts most likely to convert. A highly defined ICP ensures your efforts are efficient and relevant. 2. Multi-Threaded Outreach Modern B2B decisions are made by committees, not individuals. Build relationships across multiple stakeholders within a target account. Tailor messages to specific roles—finance, marketing, operations—and connect them to how your solution supports their objectives. 3. Hyper-Personalized Messaging at Scale Generic emails are dead. Use dynamic personalization tools to tailor messaging based on job title, company news, shared connections, or industry trends. AI can help scale personalization while keeping your messaging authentic and relevant. 4. Leverage Warm Channels First Outbound doesn’t have to mean “cold.” Use mutual connections, recent webinar attendees, or social media engagement as warm entry points. Pair outbound efforts with LinkedIn nurturing, retargeted ads, or personalized video messages to increase response rates. 5. Sequence with Strategy Use automated sequences (email, phone, social touches) designed around your buyer’s journey. Ensure every touchpoint adds value—share relevant case studies, industry insights, or pain-point specific content. A well-structured sequence improves both response and conversion rates. 6. Align with Sales for Speed and Feedback Marketing and sales alignment is critical. Share real-time feedback loops so messaging can be optimized based on what's resonating. SDRs should be armed with the right content, timing cues, and conversation starters to accelerate qualified conversations. 7. Test, Learn, and Optimize Relentlessly Outbound is not set-it-and-forget-it. Track metrics like open rates, response rates, and meeting conversion. A/B test subject lines, messaging, and timing. Leverage attribution insights to refine outreach and double down on what works. 💡 Outbound done right isn’t about volume—it’s about velocity and value. When marketers shift from “spray and pray” to precise, personalized, and data-driven outreach, outbound becomes a true catalyst for sustainable B2B growth. #B2BMarketing #OutboundLeadGen #GrowthStrategy #MarketingLeadership #RevenueMarketing #ABM #CMO #DemandGeneration

Outbound isn’t dead. Old-school outbound is. In B2B today, success doesn’t come from sending more emails or making more calls. It comes from knowing when to engage — and why. 👉 Signals beat sequences 👉 Timing beats volume 👉 Intent + AI beats lead lists Why? → 70% of B2B buyers do deep research before ever speaking to sales (Forrester). → Cold calls convert at just 2.3% — unless hyper-targeted, they kill ROI. → WhatsApp and SMS open rates hit 98%, but mistimed outreach burns trust instantly. Here’s what works in 2025: 1️⃣ Layering 3 types of signals: → Public: job postings, funding rounds, PR announcements. → 3rd-party intent: Bombora, 6sense, ZoomInfo. → 1st-party: pricing page visits, product downloads, high-intent behaviors. 2️⃣ AI-led prioritization: → AI filters noise → surfaces the top 5% of leads who are truly in-market. 3️⃣ Precision outreach at the moment of intent: → No mass emails. → No spammy sequences. → Thoughtful, highly personalized outreach — when the buyer is ready. A real example: Deel (global payroll / HR SaaS, fastest SaaS to $400M ARR): → Deel built an AI-driven GTM engine monitoring 3K+ signals globally: → New funding → hiring ramp → global payroll need. → Job postings in new markets → expansion signal. → PR on new market launches → likely fit for Deel. Results: → SDRs contact prospects within 24h of the trigger. → Win rate = 4x higher than traditional cold outbound. → Sales cycle 35% faster vs legacy approaches. Why this works: → You meet the buyer at the moment of need. → Your message matches what’s top of mind. → Personalization + timing builds trust fast. Bottom line: Mass outbound is no longer a competitive edge. Intent-driven, signal-based, AI-powered sales is what scales today. If I were building a GTM stack in 2025: → I’d start with intent + AI + orchestration. → I’d cut 90% of legacy outbound. Because in sales today — first to the signal wins the deal.

Outbound works. Just not the way you’re doing it. Tell me if this sounds familiar. Your team of 10 reps get... • 100 emails/day each → 5,000 a week • 2% reply rate → 100 replies • 20% booked → 20 meetings • 50% qualified → 10 demos That’s 500 emails for ONE qualified demo. 4,900 ignored emails carrying your logo, your name, your brand. That’s not pipeline. It’s death by a thousand cold emails. We hear it from sales leaders every day. Pipeline generation is down despite unchanged activity levels. So what actually moves the needle? Provide disproportionate value. When you add account-specific value, replies shift from silence to “tell me more.” It’s not easy. But it is effective. Run these 7 value-first outbound plays (12–18% reply rates): 1. Nail the list. Best-fit accounts only (firmo + techno + trigger). Start with your current customers. Who stuck around, who closed fastest, who’s paying the most? 2. Find the wedge. Identify one real problem you know they have (not a generic pain). 3. Do the homework Create a 5–10 min research brief for every account. More data is better (recent moves, stack, hiring, KPIs). 4. Solve a piece. Earn attention. Ship a teardown, ROI slide, or 45-sec Loom showing a problem you can solve in their world. 5. Keep it simple. Their attention is limited. One problem. One proof. One next step. No pitch decks. 6. Go multi-channel. Be everywhere. Email + LinkedIn + call + voicemail + a handwritten note if you have to (remember those?). 7. Follow up with value. Don’t “bump this back up.” Watch signals (opens, time on asset, site return) and follow up with something new. What changes when you do this? • Fewer sends. • Higher-intent conversations. • Real pipeline that doesn’t embarrass the brand. That’s why we're building an outbound teammate for every quota-carrying rep. With your input and approval, it builds a targeted list → creates research briefs → writes individualized sequences. Without turning your reps into full-time researchers. Want to see it in action? Comment “PIPELINE” and I’ll send you a sample value-first campaign for 100 of your target accounts.

Small tweaks in your sales script can turn “no thanks” into qualified sales calls. We reviewed a client’s outbound calls, made five key adjustments, and saw a 20% boost in engagement. Here’s what worked: 1. Start with a Permission-Based Opener Jumping straight into the pitch made prospects feel cornered, often leading to resistance. What We Changed: We switched to a permission-based opener like, “Hey, this is (name) from (company), we haven’t spoken before, I’m calling you out of the blue, but it'll take me 30 seconds to tell you why I called and then you can tell me if you even want to keep talking after that, does that sound fair” This gave prospects control and set a respectful tone. Prospects felt more comfortable and engaged when they had the option to continue, leading to smoother, more productive conversations. 2. Use “You” Instead of “We” The scripts were too brand-focused with “we” and “our” statements, making it sound impersonal. Shifting to “you” language made a huge difference. Instead of “We offer the best solution,” we said, “You deserve a solution that actually fits.” Prospects felt the call was about them, not us. 3. Add Specific Social Proof Generic claims weren’t cutting it. Instead of “We’ve helped hundreds,” we got specific: “Last quarter, we helped [X industry] achieve [result].” Specifics boosted credibility and helped prospects see the potential value for themselves. 4. Ask Open-Ended Questions Closed questions led to dead-ends. We replaced “Do you struggle with [problem]?” with “What challenges are you facing with [problem]?” This invited prospects to share more, making the conversation richer and helping us respond better. 5. Frame Price with Value Mentioning price early often scared people off. Instead, we tied price to benefits: “With an investment of $X, you can achieve [result].” Positioning price in correlation to perceived value kept the conversation moving forward. These small changes led to big improvements in qualified booked appointments. ___________________________________ Follow Dylan Rich for more tips on scaling your sales team

In 36 months, I scaled a hunting team at AWS from $0 to $25M Though it was seen as a great success by many, there are 5 critical shifts I’m applying to build a modern outbound engine at Yess: WHO, WHY, WHEN, TO WHOM, and HOW LONG. Here’s the breakdown: 1️⃣ WHO is reaching out: - Old Way: entry-level SDRs flood inboxes with spam. + New Way: Team-selling facilitated by SDRs. Decision makers prefer talking to other decision makers. Executives and peers should engage directly. companies should move from old-school outbound to team selling model that is facilitated by SDRs and driven by signals and intent data. 2️⃣ WHY we're reaching out: - Old Way: Generic emails saying, 'I see you're the {job title}...' + New Way: Relevancy > Generic personalization. Generic outreach that lacks relevance and personalization is dead. Look for accounts that visited your website, engaged with your social media, or showed intent through third-party data to craft contextually rich content driven by intent data and real-time signals. 3️⃣ WHEN we reach out: - Old Way: As soon as a new lead gets into the CRM, no matter what. + New Way: Engaging contacts when they show interest. Sales isn’t about immediately pouncing on every lead anymore. Leading sales teams will strategically time their outreach with behavioral signals, like site visits or content engagement. 4️⃣ To WHOM we are reaching out: - Old Way: Single (ICP) persona within the account. + New Way: Target the entire buying team, with personalized touches. Modern outreach should involve the entire buying committee. Each stakeholder has different needs and goals. Use detailed persona data to create messages that hit home for everyone. 5️⃣ HOW LONG we reach out: - Old Way: same 18-step generic sequence for all accounts. + New Way: Dynamics playbooks based on live engagement data. Dynamic playbooks help sales teams tweak their outreach using live data. Sequences adapt to prospects' actions in real time, keeping the prioritization of accounts updated and dynamic. TAKEAWAY: The outbound paradigm is shifting and pushing us to focus on precision over volume. Outbound should leverage: + WHO is reaching out, + tailor WHAT they communicate, + sync it perfectly with WHEN it matters the most, + strategically choose TO WHOM they reach out to, + and dynamically adjust HOW LONG they engage based on data. Keep them in check.

Your customers should be writing your outbound messaging. I had a bit of an epiphany last week. It’s something that all the best outbound sales people do but I’ve never really been able to break it down this simply in a single sentence before: People that are great at outbound are very good at finding the *repeatable phrases* that prospects use to describe a problem and use those exact words to describe the problem to other similar prospects in their outreach. Example: When we were selling RFP Response Software at Loopio in the early days, sales leaders would consistently talk about how they: 1. "Already answered this question in the past but it was lost in a Google Doc somewhere and impossible to find again" 2. "Had to Ctrl + F in a word doc, copy the answer and paste it into the RFP over and over again" We heard these phrases like clockwork. Hundreds of times... -------- So here's how you use those repeatable phrases in an email to resonate: Hi Mindy, It looks like the team is looking to go up-market with the new job posting up for an Enterprise AE. Going up-market usually means responding to more RFPs. Most enterprise sellers I talk to consistently mention how annoying it is to spend HOURS having to go back to an old RFP, Ctrl + F to find an answer and copy/paste back in...for hundreds of questions. Loopio could help you answer all those questions with one click so you can focus on selling. Sound interesting? ---------- This type of email got us hundreds of meetings because it clicked with everybody that responded to RFPs. So the question becomes.... what are your repeatable phrases? #sales #outbound #prospecting

Outbound is going through a similar transformation as the WNBA. Caitlin Clark is raising the bar. Here's what will happen over the next few decades: - The WNBA will grow in popularity - More women will aspire to be WNBA stars - Competition will raise the minimum bar to get into the WNBA The same is happening with outbound. The bar has risen. You can't get away with what you could 5+ years ago. Writing a good email or making a well-timed cold call isn't good enough anymore. Insights and relevance are everywhere. It's competitive as hell to get in a buyer's inbox. You have two options: - Elevate outbound skills across the org (very hard to scale) - Elevate the VALUE you give to prospects (easier to scale) Don't get me wrong, upskilling should always be a priority. But you need to make an org-wide investment in building tools and processes for reps to deliver REAL value to prospects. Here are three examples: ✅ Show a problem A client of mine sells an ecomm solution. Reps run a website audit and share the results with prospects. They provide actionable commentary on how site speed and the checkout process are hurting conversation rates. ✅ Share a bite-sized insight A client of mine sells an AI camera solution to help utilities detect wildfires. Reps run a quick fire risk analysis for the prospect. The prospect sees a customized image of their territory and best practices around where to prioritize their mitigation efforts. ✅ Benchmark against industry standards A client of mine sells ecomm chat services. Their marketing department ran a secret shopping experience of the top few hundred brands in a specific category. The report compared avg. response time, hours a real human was available to chat with, etc. The prospect could see how their customer experience compared to the top in the industry. ~~~ This is the future of outbound. All three of these examples require deliberate collaboration between marketing and sales. When you deliver this kind of value, you don't need world-class outbound skills. You can't scale what only your top 5%-ers can pull off. Agree or disagree? #sales #outbound

Teams who take a “boil the ocean” approach to outbound will fail. Here’s how to fix it and build sequences that actually drive results: Step 1: Focus your team on accounts most likely to buy now, invest at a premium, and become long-term customers or referral sources. This means moving beyond “anyone who fits the ICP” and zeroing in on high-priority targets. Step 2: Create deeper, more meaningful segments from that refined group. Traditional segments are great for organizing territories but fall short for crafting sequences that resonate. Instead, you need segmentation that helps your team speak the language of specific sub-groups. Use multiple layers of data—firmographics, intent signals, and contact-level insights—to break your TAM into smaller, actionable groups. Step 3: Launch micro-campaigns that target those precise segments with messaging designed to feel tailor-made. When you take this approach, personalization becomes scalable because it’s rooted in segmentation. Your reps don’t waste time on one-off customization, and your messaging feels 99% relevant to the prospect. I've been teaching this process as #ValueBasedSegmentation for the better part of a decade. It’s the key to building sequences that drive higher CTRs, replies, and engagement without tedious manual effort. ➡️ With this approach, you’ll: - Improve email performance - Write copy that prospects actually care about - Give your team a clear roadmap for focused outbound 📌 How are you helping your team build relevance into their outbound sequences?
