I’ve seen it: the grinders carry the load, the coasters coast… and everyone gets the same “good job.” Quarter later, your best slow down and who can blame them? Because it’s true: when poor work has no consequence and great work has no reward, motivation dies. Fix it with five simple moves (leaders and pros): 1/ Name the standard. ↳ Write 3–5 behaviors/results that equal “great” so no one has to guess. 2/ Give fast feedback. ↳ Praise in public within 24 hours.
