Most enterprise brands don’t fail at SEO due to bad work. They fail because decision-making frameworks are misaligned from day one. If you want to rank for bottom-of-funnel, high-intent, revenue-driving keywords, the game isn’t “tactics.” It’s strategic alignment and the discipline to actually follow a plan when the early data doesn't scream "big wins" After working with nearly 600 brands, including some of the fastest-growing SaaS and enterprise companies on the planet by publicly traded market cap, the pattern is clear: Two variables determine SEO outcomes: 1. Strategic alignment 2. Sticking to the plan long enough for compound interest to accrue We increased Monday.com’s organic traffic by 1,570%. Added 5,188+ new first-page rankings. Drove 140k+ net-new ranking keywords. Lifted them from 10k to 500k+ monthly visits and unlocked a massive surge in SQLs for comparison-stage content. Here’s what most people miss: The first few months looked like nothing was happening. Zero dramatic “wins.” No fireworks. Until it did, and the work compounded day over day. That’s SEO at the enterprise level: slow… until it isn’t. This is exactly where leadership teams unknowingly sabotage outcomes in three key ways, and where Monday did not. 1️⃣ Misleading early evaluation windows SEO is not linear month-to-month. Technical fixes, on-page strategic shifts, link velocity, internal link strategy. None of these produce immediate visible gains, but they’re the reason months 5–9 are explosive. Short-term evaluations windows, common in paid channels, are often applied wrongly to SEO. This punishes the foundational work that generates real revenue and rewards shortcuts. 2️⃣ Misaligned incentives When your internal SEO team or external agency is forced by execs to "show results in 30 days", you shift into defensive tactics: • Target easy, low value keywords • Build low quality links to show “movement” • Prioritize vanity optics over compounding strategy This downward pressure produces activity, not outcomes. 3️⃣ Winging it with keyword lists that feel important Without strategic forecasting, demand mapping, and competitive longevity analysis, brands pivot prematurely to breakthroughs. That’s how teams get stuck in the spin cycle of motion without progress. If you want to win keywords that produce actual SQLs, you must approach SEO like an enterprise growth model, not a marketing task. The companies dominating terms like “enterprise LMS” didn’t shift strategies every 30 days. They aligned strategically → committed → executed with ruthless consistency for...years. And the results reflect it. If you’re an enterprise team tired of: • chasing vanity metrics • stacking disconnected tactics • or watching competitors outrank you despite inferior products It’s a strategic alignment problem. Fix that, and the compounding begins.

The $100-per-call SEO Scam Nobody Talks About Some SEOs are pulling a crazy black-hat stunt right now. It looks smart. It brings calls. But it’s a ticking time bomb. Here’s exactly how they hijack local markets: → Create a Google Business Profile using a big brand’s name + logo in a new city ↳ Pretend like the brand has an office there → Add a real, working phone number ↳ Calls are tracked + routed to whoever is buying the leads → Upload fake photos of “the office” → Pump 50–100 fake 5⭐ reviews in just days → Wait for Google’s trust in the “brand” to kick in → Calls start rolling non-stop → Sell those leads to local businesses at $50–$100 per call Why it works (for a while): → Google naturally rewards big brand names with authority → Fake reviews make the algo believe it’s an established local business → Map Pack placement brings instant inbound call flow Why it’s dangerous (and a trap): → Google suspends cloned profiles the moment they’re flagged → The real brand can easily report and take action → You can face legal trouble for impersonation → All the “growth” vanishes overnight → zero long-term equity The lessons business owners must learn from this: → Always ask your SEO agency how they are generating your leads → If they are using shortcuts, fake reviews, or cloned assets → you don’t own the growth, they do → Shady tactics bring fast cash but no stability. The day it gets shut down, your phone stops ringing. What real growth actually looks like: → Verified Google Business Profiles in your own name → Consistent citations across directories → Reviews you actually earned from real customers → Local links, press mentions, and authority signals that Google trusts → A foundation that compounds over years instead of collapsing in weeks Here’s the truth → Shortcuts may look exciting. But in Local SEO, they don’t build businesses. They only build stress, suspension risk, and wasted money. If you want long-term growth on Google Maps and Local Search without the fear of losing it all overnight… Let’s talk. I help businesses grow with legit Local SEO + bulletproof Google Business Profile strategies that keep the calls coming in year after year.

Cheap backlinks are a small spark that can burn down your SEO. In the early days of building a company, it’s tempting to “hack” growth—especially SEO. And nothing looks easier than buying cheap backlinks. But here’s the reality most founders learn too late: 🚫 Cheap backlinks don’t build authority — they destroy it. Google’s spam filters are smarter than ever. Low-quality links can drag down your entire domain and take months (or years) to recover from. 💸 The “savings” disappear fast. What looks like a $200 shortcut often turns into thousands spent on cleanup, recovery, lost rankings, and lost revenue. ⏳ It kills momentum. Founders underestimate how much technical debt in SEO slows down product launches, content distribution, and organic compounding. 🧩 It signals the wrong mindset. Shortcuts in SEO tend to mirror shortcuts elsewhere — brand, product, operations. Sustainable companies play the long game. Here’s what founders should invest in instead: ✨ High-quality content ✨ Authoritative editorial backlinks ✨ Thought leadership ✨ Real relationships and PR ✨ A technical foundation that scales SEO is an asset, not a hack. And assets are meant to compound, not collapse.

I once watched an agency switch their client from $185 quality links to $80 "marketplace" links to pocket the difference. Within 90 days, their rankings tanked. Client fired them. Don't get me wrong... I love saving money. But some shortcuts destroy your entire business. Here are 7 consistency mistakes that kill SEO results (and what to do instead): 1. Premature Budget Cuts Rankings improve, agencies slash link spending from 50% to 10%. They pocket the difference until rankings crash and client fires them. Instead: Maintain the investment that got you there. If 50 links/month achieved page 1, keep building 50 links. 2. Switching to "Cheaper" Links Switch to $80 marketplace links to pocket the $105 difference. Those links disappear within 30 days. Client loses rankings AND trust. Instead: Stick with links scoring 3/3: domain relevance, content relevance, 1,000+ traffic. 3. The "Technical Tweaks Will Save Us" Pivot When agencies cut link budgets, they suddenly obsess over Core Web Vitals and meta descriptions. Meanwhile, competitors building consistent links steal all your rankings. We've seen sites with outdated technical SEO dominate purely through link consistency. Instead: Technical SEO is table stakes. Links drive rankings. Maintain both, but never sacrifice links for technical busy work. 4. Burst Campaign Syndrome One shoe brand went 0 to 24k traffic in 130 days with consistent building. Another built 100 links month 1, nothing for months, panic-built again. Guess which one kept their rankings? Instead: Natural velocity means gradual scaling. Start 20/month, scale to 50-60, maintain 30-40 long-term. 5. The "All Content, No Links" Fantasy Agencies blow $6,000/month on content with $300 on links. One client wasted $6k/month on bad links, switched to quality, grew 614% in 12 months. Instead: Allocate 40-70% of budget to quality links. 6. The "Set It and Forget It" Fantasy One SEO agency client stuck at 10-15k visitors for 2 years despite spending $5k/month. Why? Ineffective link building after the initial push. Instead: Links need constant attention. Competitors build daily. Link decay is real. Maintain momentum or lose everything. 7. Algorithm Update Panic Mode Agencies using "shortcuts" scramble with every Google update. Meanwhile, sites with consistent quality links are "relatively impervious." Updates expose spam - they reward fundamentals. Instead: Build quality consistently. Never worry about updates again. —— Link building is NOT a place for maximizing margins. We know we won't retain clients by cutting corners. Rankings maintain when quality link building is maintained. If done wrong, one quarter of margin grab destroys years of client value. The difference is your focus: Quarterly earnings or client success. Choose wisely.

AI-generated content isn’t the real risk 🫠 The real risk is thinking you can scale shortcuts without consequences. This is something I’ve been paying very close attention to over the last few weeks. Since mid-January, I’ve seen multiple big brands experience sharp organic traffic declines. Not small fluctuations. Real crashes. At the same time, I’ve been reviewing new AI search case studies focused on automating and aggressively scaling content creation. And I keep seeing the same pattern that Peec AI highlighted in their latest research: 📈 Traffic surges for a short period 📉 Then substantial declines a few months later And here’s the uncomfortable part: 🔪 These drops are often extremely hard to recover from. 🔪Recovery can take a long time — sometimes years. 🔪 Scaling AI content quickly is dangerous. It’s also risky to: 🔪 Mass-produce programmatic pages without unique value 🔪 Refresh hundreds of articles automatically just to update timestamps 🔪 Repackage existing SERP content with minimal original insight 🔪 Chase AI search visibility with manipulative tactics Google and Bing have had systems in place for years to detect and demote sites that abuse content policies. And their systems are far more sophisticated than many people realize. Bing literally updated its spam policies yesterday to explicitly include AI search manipulation. This shouldn’t surprise anyone. AI didn’t remove search quality systems. It made them more important. If I sound like a broken record on this topic, it’s because I work with companies that learned the hard way that these tactics are unsustainable. The best way to win in SEO (and AI search) long term is simple: - Don’t do things that risk destroying your visibility in the first place. AI is a multiplier. - If you have strong expertise, original insights, and a clear strategy, it will help you scale impact. - If you’re trying to shortcut authority, it will accelerate the damage. Highly recommend reading the new research by Tomek Rudzki (linked in the comments). It’s a timely reminder that sustainable growth > fast spikes.

Many companies say they’ve tried SEO and it didn’t work. Here are the top 7 pitfalls we often uncover: ❌ Their previous vendor/team relied on shortcuts and quick hacks that promised the moon but delivered dust ❌ Mediocre content that couldn’t get ranked ❌ Delayed content production/review/approval - nothing is too niche for SEO teams to write ❌ Lack of technical knowledge and couldn’t fix search console errors ❌ Targeted the wrong keywords that are too difficult ❌ Targeted the wrong keywords - this happens a lot to local companies who need local traffic but get tons of irrelevant national traffic ❌ inadequate link building The results? You may get traffic, but little or no impact on revenue. Or worse, your traffic is still flat after a year. When we take over these accounts, we flip the script, focusing first on: ✅ Your BOF content and keyword strategy first 👉 For people already found their way to your website, this type of content will help you convert better. ✅ Developing and owning a specific SEO content process 👉 You can still post about company announcement and thought leadership, but that’s outside of our SEO content calendar. ✅ A technical audit to make sure foundation is set correctly 👉 This isn’t a generic report exported anywhere, but leveraging your first-party data on Google and our own audit methods to examine the website structure, URL health, link health etc. ✅ A thorough content audit to understand the gaps of ranking 👉 We might not need to create new content if we can fix your existing ones, and getting you results faster. ✅ A thorough link profile audit and targeted link-building efforts 👉 We start our manual link outreach almost right away and at the same time, we help you create topics that attract links organically. For SEO to produce results that business owners care about, we have to develop and own your SEO >> Tech >> Content >> Conversion Funnel end-to-end. We do it all: from strategy, to content, to optimization, to link building. ––– I'm Yan, leading a boutique team to revamp digital marketing for real business results.
