Anyone who tells you that you can grow an entire business solely based off LinkedIn is lying to you. Or at least, they're not telling you the full story. I'm a LinkedIn strategist for executives and founders. I grow LinkedIn personal brands for a living. And here's what I've learned after helping dozens of clients build revenue-generating systems: LinkedIn alone doesn't build businesses. LinkedIn builds awareness. Your funnel builds revenue. Here's the actual funnel you need: STAGE 1: TOP OF FUNNEL (LinkedIn) This is where LinkedIn shines. Use it to: → Build credibility through consistent, valuable content → Attract your ideal audience with industry insights → Create multiple touchpoints so people see you repeatedly Goal: Get people to know you exist and trust that you know what you're talking about. Metric to track: Profile views, post impressions, new followers, ICP engagement. STAGE 2: MIDDLE OF FUNNEL (Owned Channels) This is where most people drop the ball. You need to move people from LinkedIn onto channels you actually own: → Email newsletter: The highest ROI channel. I've seen email convert 10x better than LinkedIn DMs for actual sales conversations. → Lead magnets: Offer something valuable (guide, template, webinar) in exchange for their email. Make it specific to their pain point. → Website/landing pages: Where you control the narrative, the design, and the next steps. Goal: Capture contact information and begin nurturing the relationship outside of LinkedIn's algorithm. Metric to track: Email signups, download conversions, click-through rates STAGE 3: BOTTOM OF FUNNEL (Sales Activation) Now you can actually sell. Because you have: → A way to reach them consistently (email) → Multiple touchpoints that built trust (LinkedIn + email) → Control over the message and frequency Your bottom-of-funnel tactics: → Email sequences that educate and sell → Webinars or workshops that demonstrate value → Direct outreach (now with context and credibility) → Sales calls booked through your owned channels Goal: Convert warm leads into paying clients. Metric to track: Sales calls booked, conversion rate, revenue generated LinkedIn gives you reach. Email gives you revenue. Most LinkedIn gurus showing screenshots of results leave out: → The email sequences running in the background → The landing pages capturing leads → The webinars converting those leads → The CRM tracking the entire journey They're not lying about LinkedIn working. They're just not showing you the other 70% of the system. Start Here: -> Post consistently on LinkedIn for 30 days to build momentum -> Create one simple lead magnet (template, checklist, guide) -> Build one landing page to capture emails -> Write one welcome email sequence (3-5 emails) -> Track what converts LinkedIn is the top of your funnel, not your entire business. Use it to get attention. Use everything else to get revenue.

Old school sales tactics are broken. Nobody responds to a hard sell anymore... The best pitches don't feel like sales calls, they feel like a diagnosis. When I first started Lever, I'd get on calls and try to convince people they needed what we offered. It felt forced and no one cared. But everything changed when I stopped trying to convince and started trying to understand. When you do that, the sale becomes natural. Not because you convince them, but because they can see you get their problem better than anyone else. And there are a few things that make that possible: 1. Define A Clear ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) Know exactly who you're selling to. Figure out: → Who this is built for? → What stage they're at? → What they're struggling with? → Who this isn't for? 2. Understand Their Pain Points Show you understand what they're going through. Ask: → "What's your setup now?" → "What's broken?" → "What's that costing you?" → "What changes if this gets solved?" 3. Create An Irresistible Offer Everything flows from your offer. If it's weak, nothing else matters. Make it valuable, clear, and tied to the outcome they want. 4. Build An Ecosystem That Drives Leads Build systems that generate attention, nurture it, and convert it. → Content, outbound, ads → Newsletters, lead magnets, funnels → Calls, product pages 5. Remove Risk With Proof Don't just talk. Show evidence. → Results with context → The process you followed → Predictable timelines Skip the pitch until you've earned trust with proof. 6. Make The Next Step Easy End every conversation with clarity: → "Here's what I'd do next." → "Want me to map this out for you?" No pressure. Just direction. 7. Ask for Referrals Great work leads to referrals naturally. → Deliver a clear win → Remind them who you help → Make it easy to introduce others Sales get easier when you stop trying to convince people and start helping them see what's possible. If you're running demand gen, DO NOT anchor messaging in pain points (they’re lagging signals, not triggers). Instead, I anchor to pre-intent symptoms....the real-time friction they feel before they name the problem. Because here’s what most demand gen messaging gets wrong: It speaks to people who are already in the funnel, already comparing tools, already reshaping their worldview to match whatever category they’ve decided they need. But by that point, you're not guiding a decision...you’re chasing it. You're reacting to a mental model someone else already built. They've picked their shortlist, half-decided what matters, and your message becomes just another card in the deck. That’s why messaging-fit in my approach doesn’t begin with copy on the homepage. It begins with the moment the job breaks (often quietly, inconveniently, and before anyone’s ready to admit there’s even a problem.) That moment doesn’t sound like "we need better attribution" it sounds like: 1. Why do my LinkedIn posts get 200 likes and still no demos? 2. How do I report post results to clients if I don’t even know what’s working? 3. What the heck do I post this week that might actually influence pipeline? That’s how I built the early messaging for Socialeads.io. I didn’t start with what the product does, I started by listening to the symptoms demand gen leads were already feeling. Everyone we reached out to said some version of: → I’m posting consistently, but I still don’t know what’s working. That became the PULL. Then we added the PUSH: → Connect your LinkedIn + CRM, and see lead-generating posts in under 5 minutes. It wasn’t built around a promise...it was built around a moment they were ALREADY stuck in. ✅ And once we did that, the content, homepage, outbound, even cold DMs...all became focused on a single, high-friction entry point that every best-fit user recognized BEFORE they even thought of solving it. That’s how you build a messaging anchor that earns attention before intent exists. 👉 If you’re working on demand gen but still anchoring your messaging to stated problems instead of felt symptoms, DM me. I’ll help you build messaging that actually pulls in people who aren’t even aware they have a problem yet.

I spent an hour coaching a veteran entrepreneur yesterday, and I'm still thinking about our conversation. He's building something powerful. A leadership consulting business focused on helping corporate teams bridge the perception gap between different levels of the organization. The curriculum is solid. The website is coming together. The expertise is undeniable after 30 years of service. But he was stuck on the same question every entrepreneur faces... "How do I get my first client?" Here's what most people get wrong about launching a business. They try to be everything to everyone. They build the perfect website, craft the ideal elevator pitch, and wait for clients to magically appear. But the marketplace doesn't reward perfection. It rewards clarity. The Framework I Shared... 🔸 Niche down to 3 specific pain points you solve best 🔸 Run a LinkedIn poll to validate which resonates most with your network 🔸 Build a curriculum around the winner 🔸 Create 2-3 posts per week addressing that specific problem 🔸 Let engagement guide your next moves The poll does something brilliant. It transforms passive scrolling into active market research. It shows you exactly what keeps your ideal clients up at night. And it identifies who's genuinely interested versus who's just being polite. Here's the truth about lead generation... Quality connections beat quantity applications every single time. Spend 10-20% of your time on outbound applications. Invest 60-80% in strategic networking. Not the "spray and pray" LinkedIn connection requests. I'm talking about showing up consistently with valuable insights in your niche. One veteran I coached went from zero traction to four consulting inquiries in 21 days using this exact approach. Not because he changed his credentials. Because he finally got specific about the problem he solves and for whom. Your first client doesn't need to know they're your first client. They need to know you understand their problem better than anyone else. Confidence comes from competence. Competence comes from clarity. Get crystal clear on the transformation you provide, then find the people desperately seeking that exact outcome. Your Action Steps: 🔸 Identify your 3 best topics 🔸 Run a poll asking which problem your network struggles with most 🔸 Build your content strategy around the results 🔸 Deliver massive value through consistent posting 🔸 Over-deliver for your first client and ask for testimonials The business you're building deserves better than hoping someone discovers you. Start with clarity. Build with consistency. Scale through specificity. What's one business idea you've been sitting on because you're not sure where to start? Drop it below. Let's figure out your first move together.

I’ve been spending $30k to $50k per day in lead generation, and I’ll say this with pure love , it’s one of the toughest spaces to operate in right now. Not because ads don’t work. But because most lead gen companies are still operating like it’s 2001. They’re used to buying leads from third-party affiliates, so their own infrastructure never mattered. Landing pages were an afterthought. Tech stack was duct taped. Speed, tracking, attribution? Barely looked at. Then they try to run first party media and wonder why everything breaks. In lead gen, you’re not just buying traffic. You’re controlling everything: – Tech – Pages – Forms – Tracking – Compliance – Intake – Follow-up speed Miss one piece and the whole thing bleeds. I’ve seen pages redirect in 500ms vs 2000ms and lose 30%+ of leads because TrustedForm didn’t have enough time to fire correctly. Same traffic. Same spend. Same creative. Completely different outcome. Brutal. But here’s the flip side when it is dialed in, lead gen is one of the most rewarding industries to scale. The feedback loop is fast. The volume is real. And if intake is tight, you can pour gas on it quickly. This is what marketing in 2026 actually looks like: Not “just ads.” Not “just funnels.” But systems thinking across media, tech, and operations. If you’re still treating lead gen like a traffic problem instead of an infrastructure problem, the market will punish you for it. Hard.

Marketing Gem 💎: Own your funnel, don’t let your funnel own you. The best thing a demand gen marketer can do is deeply understand the company's goals, objectives, and market size, then translate those insights into a well-structured funnel. This sets realistic expectations and drives successful demand generation strategies. Let’s break this down with a B2B example: If my Chief Revenue Officer comes to me and says, “Our goal is to add 2,000 new logos in 2025,” that’s a great starting point—but the work begins with reverse waterfall math. This is a simple way to start for any marketer at any level. ↳ Start with the end goal: 2,000 closed-won deals (new logos). ↳ Apply conversion rates (use conservative estimates if you don't have data): - If 20% of marketing qualified leads (MQLs) convert to closed-won, then I need 10,000 MQLs (2,000 ÷ 20%). - If only 40% of total leads qualify as MQLs, I’ll need 25,000 leads (10,000 ÷ 40%). ↳ Compare to market size: If the number of required leads exceeds the TAM (total addressable market), you’ve uncovered a gap. Here’s what to do next: - Improve conversion rates (e.g., boost MQL-to-close rate from 20% to 25%) - Adjust the sales goal, or - Expand your TAM (e.g., enter new markets). ↳ Understand the economics: Once you know the revenue contribution per logo, work with your FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) team to calculate: The cost to acquire a new logo (CAC), including sales and marketing costs. Your target ROI. Let’s say you agree on a 5x ROI on CAC/LTV. That gives you a maximum allowable cost per lead and per MQL. With these insights, you can: - Build strategies to hit your goals (content, ads, partnerships). - Work with your demand gen team, agency, or partners, setting clear cost targets per lead or MQL. - Optimize continuously. If your budget allows $1,000 per MQL, but performance improves, push for $800 instead while increasing volume. You’ll find a sweet spot eventually. By using reverse waterfall math, you don’t just set goals—you create a roadmap to achieve them. You ensure every dollar spent aligns with company objectives and is rooted in market reality. There are many ways to approach aligning your demand gen strategy with company goals and aligning to the realities of the market you serve. This is just one simple way to get started. When marketers understand the numbers, they stop chasing leads for the sake of leads and start driving real business impact. How do you approach funnel planning in your organization?

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽 🚀 “𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵? 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲. 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗱—𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲.”That’s the harsh truth I discovered firsthand, transitioning from an employee in a lead gen firm to building my own company. The B2B lead generation industry looks glamorous from the outside, but beneath the surface lies a complex web of challenges that test your resilience, strategy, and execution. If you’re serious about scaling a lead gen business in 2025, you must go beyond surface-level metrics and outdated tactics. Here’s what I learned about creating a sustainable, results-driven lead gen startup—and how companies can avoid the common pitfalls that stall growth. 𝟭. 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮-𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 📔 Without solid data, your lead gen efforts are guesswork. Rely on accurate lead scoring, firmographic and behavioural insights to qualify prospects and prioritize outreach. This increases conversion rates and optimizes your marketing spend and sales efficiency. 𝟮. 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 💯 Chasing massive lead volumes is a trap. High-quality leads with clear intent deliver better ROI and shorten sales cycles. Build processes to nurture and qualify leads early, ensuring your sales team invests time where it counts. 𝟯. 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 👨👨👧👧 Disjointed sales and marketing cause funnel leakage. Establish clear communication and shared KPIs to ensure both teams work cohesively on lead qualification, nurturing, and conversion. This alignment improves pipeline velocity and predictability. 𝟰. 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 📉 B2B buying behaviours evolve rapidly. Continuous testing, monitoring of KPIs, and willingness to pivot strategies are essential. Staying flexible helps you capitalize on emerging trends and buyer preferences Building a lead gen company is a marathon, not a sprint. Avoid the common traps of vanity metrics and misaligned teams by embracing data, quality focus, and agility. These lessons will help you build a foundation for lasting growth in a competitive landscape. 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🔘 Are you ready to elevate your lead gen strategy and drive meaningful growth? A simple LinkedIn Thought-Leader Ads Funnel (3-5k/mo budget) Organic content amplified by paid ads - here are the simple steps. 1. Post organically on Linkedin -Test, test, test, test - see what works and what resonates with your ICP -Ideally, you're sending 15-20 targeted connection requests a day to your ICP as well to build a targeted network -Ideally, you're engaging in the feed around you for 30 minutes a day as well 2. Discover your organic winners -Not just likes and comments but look for your posts that drive actual ICP engagement and DMs with interest in your product/service. 3. Amplify your organic success by turning your best organic posts into LinkedIn thought leader ads targeted at your ICP. -You're initial cold ads should be focused on great first impressions that clearly focus on one of the following: A. Promotional - clearly showing what you do/sell/offer and why it matters B. Pain point focused - clearly state the main pain point your clients have and how you solve it C. Results focused - clearly describe the result or impact your product/service creates 4. Launch retargeting thought leader ads (90-day retargeting) Triggers: A. Website visitors B. Company page visitors C. Engagers with your cold ads Objective = Build trust and credibility to nurture and convert your warm audience You can have more freedom in retargeting layer with a wider range of posts and topics. 5. Set up high-intent bottom of funnel triggers (30-day high-intent layer) Triggers: A. Highly engaged with your retargeting ads B. Key page views of your website (demo, pricing, contact, downloaded assets) C. 75% video views of retargeting videos D. Entered website with retargeting UTMS (meaning multiple visits) Action: Leverage conversation ads and lead gen forms for this group with strong CTAs to nudge them toward taking the next action. 6. Longer-term nurture - low-cost layer (180-day retargeting) In the 180-day retargeting layer, I like to use text, spotlight, and follower ads to stay in front of my warm prospects but let all the expensive in-feed ads drop off. This is pretty simple funnel that could be run for 5k/mo or less ad spend. Give it a try! Any questions? #linkedinads #thoughtleadership #entreprenuership

As a Sales Leader, structuring a repeatable top-of-funnel process is crucial for sustainable growth. Here’s a 9-step checklist you can use to build a durable sales funnel that not only fills the pipeline but ensures its longevity and effectiveness. 👇 1. Identifying and Understanding Your Ideal Customer Start with a clear picture of who you’re targeting. Analyze market data and customer feedback to define your ideal customer profile (ICP). This understanding directs all other sales efforts, ensuring they’re focused and effective. 2. Crafting and Communicating Your Value Proposition Your value proposition should resonate deeply with your ICP. It’s about clarity and relevance—make sure it addresses the specific needs and pain points of your target audience. 3. Developing a Targeted Outbound Strategy Tailor your outreach to the preferences and behaviors of your ICP. A targeted strategy ensures that your efforts are concentrated on the most promising leads. 4. Writing Sales Copy That Generates Pipeline Effective sales copy is clear, compelling, and directly speaks to your ICP’s needs. Ensure your messaging consistently aligns with your value proposition and appeals to your audience. 5. Optimizing and Managing Outreach Channels Choose your channels based on where your ICP is most active. Regularly review and optimize these channels to maintain engagement and improve response rates. 6. Building and Maintaining Effective Sales Sequences Develop sequences that nurture leads at every step of the funnel. Automated workflows can help maintain timely follow-ups and consistent engagement. 7. Mastering Objections with Curiosity and Confidence Equip your team to handle objections by fostering a mindset of curiosity and confidence. This approach not only addresses concerns but also opens up opportunities for deeper engagement. 8. Conducting Discovery Meetings and Building Relationships Discovery meetings are crucial for understanding the prospect’s needs in-depth. Focus on building relationships rather than just selling, fostering trust and collaboration. 9. Creating Repeatable Processes to Ensure Durable Growth Systematize successful strategies to create a scalable and repeatable sales process. Continuous training, regular audits, and adaptability to market changes are key to sustaining success. ✨ Leadership Takeaway - Implementing these steps requires more than just strategic planning; it demands a commitment to continuous improvement and adaptation.
