When I started building outsourced SDR teams almost a decade ago, the standard playbook looked something like this: - In-house SDRs living in the office, battling over lead lists and territories - Lengthy ramp times, big training budgets - All sales ops concentrated under one roof, because that was the way it had “always worked” Fast forward to now, and that approach feels prehistoric. Today’s buyers are everywhere, LinkedIn, Slack groups, WhatsApp communities, and expect real conversations. Buying committees are larger, touchpoints are up, data quality is low. A lot of the companies we work with have tried either: - pouring more budget into in-house SDRs. - or outsourcing 100% of top-of-funnel with mixed results. Neither extreme worked at scale. The best results came from teams who built a hybrid top of funnel motion. What does that look like? - A core group of in-house full cycle AEs owning the highest-value accounts (and deep product knowledge) - A flexible layer of outsourced SDRs who can quickly test new markets, verticals, or product lines (think: rapid iteration, zero red tape) - Both teams collaborating in real-time—sharing messaging frameworks, win stories, and learnings on what resonates, so everyone gets sharper (and deals move faster) - Leadership focusing less on “where” the reps sit, and more on velocity—how quickly we turn insights into pipeline The best part about this model is not about cutting costs or “outsourcing headaches.” It’s about flexibility and scale. The hybrid model lets you dial up or down based on market signals, without burning out your core team or sinking months into hiring sprints. We’re seeing this across our network: - SaaS, fintech, and even “traditional” industries now have global bench strength plugged in and ramped fast - Talent anywhere, pipeline everywhere. Looking ahead, I expect the hybrid motion will get even stronger: - Outsourced SDRs specializing by region, persona, or outbound channel - In-house teams focusing on spearfishing and high-value outbound activities. - Data seamlessly flowing between everyone (finally ditching the siloed dashboards) If you’re leading sales today, you need to treat the in-house vs outsourced debate as outdated. It’s not one or the other—true scale is hybrid. Curious how others are preparing? How do you see the outsourced SDR role evolving over the next five years in your industry? Would love your take. By the way, if you're looking for practical tips on optimizing your sales process, just comment "outbound" and I'll send over our guide. p.s. I had way more hair a decade ago. Jeff still looks great.

Outreach complexity has exploded, and most in-house teams weren't built for this new reality. I'm not saying in-house teams can't succeed. I'm saying the game has fundamentally changed, and we need to adapt Remember when outreach was straightforward? Get ZoomInfo. Hire some juniors. Send emails. Book meetings. Today it requires 10+ specialized tools, deliverability consultants, AI orchestration, signal tracking, intent capture, conversational intelligence. Each tool needs months to master. Each integration adds complexity. Marketing teams that used to have 20 people now have 5, with each person doing the job of three. They're brilliant generalists, but this new world demands deep specialization. What changed? COVID accelerated trends that were already happening. Remote work opened talent pools globally. The best SDRs started joining agencies with 100+ peers, proven career paths, and exposure to dozens of industries. Meanwhile, specialized providers spent the last 3 years mastering this complexity. At Belkins, an SDR with 2 years experience has: ↳ Worked on 20+ accounts across industries ↳ Mastered the entire modern tool stack ↳ Seen every edge case and solution Compare that to an in-house SDR who's focused on one product, maybe proficient in 3-4 tools, limited to one industry's playbook. Both have value. But they're solving different problems. The solution I've seen work best: #Hybrid. In-house teams bring deep product knowledge, customer understanding, and strategic vision. Specialized providers bring technical mastery, tool expertise, and cross-industry insights. Together, they create something neither could achieve alone. We've implemented this hybrid approach with over 100 clients this year. 85% saw consistent pipeline growth, averaging 35% improvement QoQ. Not because one approach is "better" — because collaboration beats isolation. The companies getting left behind are those trying to do everything themselves, spending millions to rebuild what already exists. Smart companies are combining internal expertise with external specialization. More on this here 👇 https://lnkd.in/ek8jeMEi

Buyers don’t just want sales teams. They want sales engines. One company we reviewed had impressive top-line growth. But every dollar of growth required another expensive outside sales rep with an “exclusive” territory. Another conflict situation with incumbent sales people. Another layer of management. It was a linear model. → And buyers noticed. Today, traditional outside sales-heavy approaches are getting replaced or rebalanced. Here’s what buyers are now looking for: • Revenue growth that doesn’t rely solely on headcount … and leverages inside sales + marketing driven lead generation • Optimized GTM strategies appropriately integrating and orchestrated sales funnel activities: marketing/lead generation, lead qualification, team-based sales, account management appropriately using inside and outside salespeople • Systems that scale across regions or segments … with segment expertise • Data that drives forecasting, not just reporting If your sales model still depends on adding only outside salespeople to grow, It’s time to rethink the playbook. Here’s what leading sellers are doing: Build hybrid sales structures Blend inside, field, channel, and self-serve Match resources to complexity, not tradition Develop deep expertise By industry, customer type, application and product / service Actively leverage this expertise across geographies Invest in sales tech and automation Track lead velocity, win rates, and funnel health Use CRM data to prioritize, coordinate and execute, not just record Develop repeatable revenue motions Create playbooks that new reps and marketing personnel can follow Reduce ramp time and increase consistency Revenue quality matters. Buyers want growth they can see, forecast, and scale. 👉Follow Jay Greyson for more insights on sales strategy, revenue design, and building deal-ready businesses.

The Secret to Leading Global Sales Teams? (Spoiler: It’s Not More Control) Today’s sales teams are everywhere—spread across time zones, cultures, and markets. That’s powerful (hello, local expertise!) but it can be messy. The big question: How do you keep everyone aligned, motivated, and crushing quota when your team spans 15 cities and 3 continents? Here’s the hard truth: More oversight = more problems. What works in New York falls short in Berlin. What resonates in Tokyo gets crickets in Toronto. So what actually works? 1️⃣ Stop forcing uniformity. Instead, build flexible frameworks (playbooks that travel well but leave room for local flavor). This is something that I’ve always practiced. 2️⃣ Create “glue” moments. Regular cross-region brainstorms where your Sydney team can steal EMEA’s best tactics. 3️⃣ Centralize the boring stuff. If reps in Mumbai and Chicago are both wasting hours on CRM admin, that’s a problem. 4️⃣ Explain the “why.” Global strategy feels abstract until João in São Paulo sees how it helps him close more deals. The magic happens when you swap: 🚫 “Here’s exactly how to sell” ✅ “Here’s what’s working in Lisbon—adapt what fits.” Your turn: What’s your biggest headache with distributed teams? #sales #globalteams #salesleadership #selling

How do you build a full CGT commercialization team when you only have budget for 5 people but need 15 roles to succeed? This is the resource paradox every emerging biotech leader faces. You can’t just hire your way out of it — not if you want to protect your runway and hit key milestones. The smartest companies don’t try to do it all in-house. They build Hybrid Teams that blend: ✅ Core FTEs - your rock-solid foundation ✅ Fractional experts - your force multipliers for high-level expertise ✅ Strategic partners - your extended team when you need to scale fast Big players like Amgen and Genentech show what’s possible when you mix internal talent with the right outside experts. And Sangamo Therapeutics has proven you can navigate complex regulatory pathways with lean, integrated teams. Benchmarks show this approach can shrink your burn rate by 50–60%, keeping annual costs closer to ~$2–3M instead of ~$7–8M for a traditional all-FTE team. But here’s the real secret: Integration. It’s not just about having these parts, it’s how well they work together as one team. Curious what this looks like in real life? Swipe through for a clear team structure, real-world examples, and a benchmark cost comparison you can share with your board. What’s working for your team right now? Drop a comment or DM me. Let’s compare notes and share ideas for bridging the resource gap. #CGT #CellTherapy #LifeSciences #Commercialization #HybridTeams #FractionalExperts #BiotechStartups
